Mmm, generally you don't need to do much port mapping in an extreme. Not sure I understand you.  What does the d-link do?

    Hi,
    I have a Minimac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with OS X 10.8.4.
Using an Apple Time Capsule for backup.
In disc time capsule stored other files I mada a bit of time I can not find them, what can I do?

  • How can I create a guest network on an airport extreme that connects wirelessly with a Timecapsule

I have a Timecapsule in one place of our house, that is connected to Internet.  I need to extend the range of my network:  1.  my private network needs to get to a remote location to make connection with speakers (Itunes).  for this I need to first extend the range of my private network, because the speakers are too far away from the TC.  2.  I need to set up a guest network, but at quite some distance from my TC, in an other part of the house, too far away from the TC (so a guest network on the TC won't do).
For this, upon advice from an apple store, I bought an airport extreme, which I have placed on a location where it can connect to the TC, to extend the private network.  On the location of the speakers, I have an aiport express (connecting to the extreme), to play music from Itunes.  The setup at this moment is:  TC makes connection to internet, and broadcasts a private network.  Extreme connects to this private network, and broadcasts it further to the Airport express, that captures it and plays the music.  I would now like to create a guest network on the Airport Extreme, while this Extreme keeps on connecting to the private network of the TC and keeps on broadcasting it to the Express.  Is this possible?  How can I do this?  Thanks for the help !

I would now like to create a guest network on the Airport Extreme, while this Extreme keeps on connecting to the private network of the TC and keeps on broadcasting it to the Express.  Is this possible?
Unfortunately, the "main" router...your TC in this case....is the only device that can create a Guest Network, assuming that the TC is connected to a simple modem.
Unfortunately again, the Guest Network cannot be extended.  Your only real option here is to create a Guest Network on the TC and hope that it will have sufficient coverage for your needs.

  • How to extend the range of my Airport Extreme network by adding an Airport Express

How to extend the range of my Airport Extreme network by adding an Airport Express?

You have to make sure that the AirPort Express is in Factory Default Settings. If it is straight out of the box, it is ready to be configured.
The instructions that I will provide are for using AirPort Utility 6.0, which you have.
Locate the Express in the same room as the AirPort Extreme for the configuration. Power it up and allow a full minute for the Express to display a blinking amber light.
Make sure that the wireless is turned on your Mac
Open AirPort Utility 6.0 and look at the small rectangle in the upper left hand corner of the display. It should now read something like "Other AirPort Base Stations (1)"
Click on the rectangle, and then click on the AirPort Express xxxxxx listing
AirPort Utility will take a minute or two to analyze the settings on your network and then suggest that  the Express be configured to "Extend" your wireless network.
Edit the Base Station name to your liking, then click Next in the lower right hand corner
Allow a full minute or two let AirPort Utility do its work
When you see Setup Complete, click Done at the lower right of the window.
Now move the AirPort Express to a location that is approximately half way between the AirPort Extreme and the area that needs more wireless coverage.
    You should be in business.

  • How to connect a hard drive on Airport Extreme (second edition)

how to connect a hard drive on Airport Extreme (second edition)? Does it need a special format? It is now fromat on FAT32, but i don't see it ??

The USB port your Mac is high powered. The port on the AirPort Extreme is not.
So, it tends to be borderline as far as its ability to supply sufficient power to a hard drive...even if the hard drive has its own power supply.
Often, users...including me....need to use a powered USB hub when they attach any drive to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme.
You might want to give that a try. Double check to make sure that the drive is formatted in FAT32 as well, since Windows NTFS or exFAT will not work with the AirPort Extreme.
Powering down and restarting the entire network.....modem first, then router, etc.....is something that you would always want to do after any change or addition to a network.

  • Will a WD hard drive work with AirPort Extreme to connect with an iPad Air

Will a WD hard drive work with Airport Extreme to connect by a iPad Air

If you already have an AE and a WD drive .. the best idea is plug it in and see on a mac in airport utility is the drive recognised.
If not you have problems.. if it is formatted correctly (Not NTFS mainly) then it can be a drive that is not compatible.
assuming it works get your ipad and pay for filebrowser or at least download a test copy and see how it goes.
Always the best way to find out.. try it.

  • Will a wireless printer work with airport extreme?

Will a wireless printer work with airport extreme? Such as an HP Photosmart D110.

Yes, it will as long as it is within wifi signal range of the Extreme.  Of course, you'll need to go through the printer setup sequence. NOTE:  The D110 is not AIRPRINT compatible, so it will not print from ios operating systems that are installed in mobile devices such as iphones, ipads, ipods.  However, there are Apps that are available for non airprint printers, but their quality and effectiveness are questionable.

  • How can I open ports on my AirPort Extreme, from WINDOWS?

I have an Airport Extreme as my router, and I have a Windows-based computer. I need to open ports on the router (ironically, it is for my Apple TV).
However, even though I can use the Airport Utility for Windows (latest version 5.5.3), I cannot open ports from the application.
Everywhere I look, I am supposed to have a firewall tab in the Advanced section, but I do not have it. The only tabs that I have in Advanced are:
    Logging and Statistics
    MobileMe
    IPv6

  • Any current inkjet printers work with Airport Extreme 802.11g Basestation?

Does anyone know if there are any printers out there currently being sold that actually work with Airport Extreme (802.11g)? Not the latest 802.11n basestation, but the UFO-shaped Extreme g basestation? I recently tried the HP DeskJet D4160 and it does not work at all with it, although my deprecated HP 940c works just fine. I need to replace the 940C, and I don't want to have to buy and return 20 different printers in order to find one that actually works... Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

  • How can I configure my first gen Airport extreme?

does anyone know how I can configure my 1st Gen Airport Extreme with my latest Airport Utility? Or is there another way?

A 1st Generation AirPort Extreme is model number A1143.  Please check on the bottom of your device to confirm that you have this model number.
A1143 can be configured using the latest version of AirPort Utility in Mountain Lion OS X (10.8.4).
If you don't see model A1143......you do not have a 1st Generation AirPort Extreme. What model number do you see?

  • Does AirPlay work with AirPort Extreme?

Does AirPlay work with AirPort Extreme?

The AirPort Extreme does allow AirPlay to "pass-through" but it does NOT support receiving AirPlay streams to be played back through powered speakers or an audio receiver as it does not have any built-in audio circuitry like the AirPort Express models.

  • How to setup a guest network on an airport extreme?

I just bought the new airport extreme and I havent been able to find the prompt that allows me to create a guest wifi network.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Javier Vazquez

I just bought the new airport extreme and I havent been able to find the prompt that allows me to create a guest wifi network.
The article that hanuolaohu posted is interesting, but it never tells you that the AirPort Extreme must be connected to a simple modem to allow the Guest Network feature to be enabled.
If you have a "gateway" or "modem/router" device, this acts as another router on the network....not as a simple modem...so the Guest Network tab will not appear when you try to setup the device.
So, first we need to check on the device that you call your "modem". What is the make and model number of this device?

  • How to setup a Default Playlist to Airport but allows BYOD playlist override?

    Sorry for the unclear description.
Here is what I am trying to accomplish.  I have my laptop or ipod playing a default playlist to my Airport express attached to my Stereo system.  The music plays fine with no issues.  I come into the house and want to play music from my iphone or ipad, I cannot connect or play to airport express since it is already sync'd or acquired by my laptop.
My goal is to have a default playlist playing all the time.  When myself, my kids, or anyone comes in to house they can have priority over my laptop to play their music.  Then when they disconnect, stop playing music, or leave the house; the default playlist kicks back on and continues to play out the speakers via the airport.  I am trying to do this without human manual interaction.
I can do all of this manually like disconnect laptop, new device syncs to airport, then when they leave manually start playlist.  But I am trying to figure out how to do this dynamically without human interaction.
Any ideas or solutions on how to get this to work?
    Thanks!
    T.

    Hello,
I'm either blind or over-worked (probably both) but I can't seem to find how to setup a DMZ on the XTM 330. I need to add an Avaya IP phone system and don't want to try using SIP because the vendor said they need no NAT.
Can someone please either direct me to the correct spot in the documentation or tell me how to do it?
    Thanks in advance

    Questions?

In order to enable Guest networking, the AirPort Extreme must be configured as your "main" Internet router. In this configuration, Connection Sharing = Share a Public IP address. The Extreme would be connected directly to the Internet modem and NOT downstream of another router with NAT enabled.
In this configuration, the Guest network would provide access ONLY to the Internet and NOT to your LAN.

  • How do I bridge motorola NVG510 to work with Airport Extreme

Hey everyone, I need some help.
I just got uverse and they sent me a motorola Nvg510 router.  I need to put it under bridge mode so I can use the airport extreme and use the guest network functionality.  I don't know what settings to put the motorola router and the airport extreme.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please let me know if I have to provide any more information.
    Thanks,
    AC

I've put up a webpage to explain how to "force" the modem in effective bridge mode here:
    http://www.ron-berman.com/2011/11/24/motorola-nvg510-help-page-for-att-u-verse-u sers/
    (See question 6).
To get the IP address, just use what your NVG510 reports as "Broadband IPv4 Address" in the Broadband tab of its configuration page.
This address is mostly static (hasn't changed for me in months), and will only change where AT&T make a physical change on the line.
