Hi,
If you wish to keep print both sides as default, pleae try:
(a) Double click (or touch) "HP Photosmart 5520" icon (should be one on desktop,
(b) Click Set Preferences
(c) In "Lay out" tab, there are 3 options in print Both sides, select "Flip on Long Edge" (normally for Portrait printing)
(d) Click "Apply"
You can overwrite this default when printing from applications using Printer properties.
Regards.

  • HP photosmart 5520 my new printer on photo printing keeps stating out of paper

my new HP photosmart 5520 will not print photos. It keeps flashing "out of paper, reload" when the printer is already loaded with paper single and several sheets. Is this a faulty machine that I bought or can it be rectified. I never had this problem with my previous Kodak printer. Could you please advise what can be done to remedy this or should I purchase another make of printer. Thanks Michael

    Hello shuter1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having photo printing issues with the Photosmart 5520, it will not feed the paper. Will the printer print on regular 8.5x11 paper?
What is the paper type and size you are trying to print these photos on?
See if following the steps outlined in this guide will help: Printing Photos Saved on Your Computer or Memory Card.
I will look back for your reply.

What operating system? The duplexer typically must be enabled (just once...) in the driver to make it available.  Enable the duplexer as shown in the Vista/Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here.

  • Two side printing samsung

Hi, I have problem with my Samsung printer (M2070). I can't print any document two sided. Before printing i made all setting properly (checked duplexer and two side printing box) Do have any solution this trouble. Thanks!

According to the specifications for the M2070 on Samsung's web site, this model does not have an automatic duplexer. So that means you will have to manually remove the first printed side and load it back into the paper tray to print on the reverse side.

  • Does the HP Photosmart Premium Model C310 Series have the capability to do two side printing?

Is my printer capable of doing two sided printing without manual intervention?

    Hi fildawg,
First, check to see that the two-sided printing accessory is showing as installed:
    1. Click the Apple icon on the top bar, to the far left
    2. Click System Preferences
    3. Click Print & Fax (10.6.8 and Earlier) or Print & Scan (10.7.x)
    4. Click to select your printer (HP Photosmart C310) from the list on the left
    5. Click the Options & Supplies button on the right
    6. Click the Driver tab
    7. Look for a line item that says "HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer)", and make sure it has a check mark to the left of it.
Next, here are the steps to print two-sided:
The following is an example of the print workflow I use - it is just the order of menus/buttons/settings that you go through when setting up a print job.
    1. Open a document to print
    2. Click File --> Page Setup (If Page Setup is available, Safari doesn't usually have this option).
    3. Under Format For: select the specific printer (Sometimes this will default to "Last Used Printer").
**By specifying the printer, you enable the driver-specific options for that product.
    4. Select the Paper Size, then Click Ok
    5. Click File --> Print
**Depending on the application, you may see a condensed driver window. Look for a down arrow or show details button to expand to the full size driver window.
    6. Depending on which version of Mac OS X you are using, the two-sided option will either be:
    - A check box towards the top of the driver window (or alternately, a selection within the Layout menu where you select the binding style).
    - A menu item located in the drop down menu that is just below Orientation.
    7. Click the Paper Type/Quality menu item, and ensure that these settings are correct for the media being printed on.
    8. Click Print.
Please let me know if you need further assistance with this, or more detail.

  • Photosmart 5520 - Black not printing on some things

My 5520 has been fitted with new cartridges and all work except the black.  Strangely, black (or at least grey) writing prints on the quality/print report and the cartridge shows as full when this is checked by the on screen request.  However, the print report has a completely blank rectangle under the 'black' heading.  I have followed all the usual steps but I am confused as to why I get black printing but no black on pictures.

HI , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you're unable to print black on your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. I would try the steps within this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 5520 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 5520 e-All-in-One Printer Series.  Solution one: Use genuine HP ink cartridges HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve print quality issues.Visit HP SureSupply to check ink cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement ink cartridges.Go to the HP SureSupply website.Scroll to the bottom of the page, and then make sure the country/region location is correct.Follow the on-screen instructions to order new ink cartridges or check ink cartridge compatibility with your printer.Genuine HP ink cartridges can also be purchased from other retailers. Solution two: Check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridgesLow ink can contribute to poor print quality. Follow these steps to check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridges. Step 1: Check the estimated ink levelsFollow these steps to check the estimated ink levels. From the home screen of the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon (). The current ink levels display.Figure : Example of estimated ink levels NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low-ink levels, consider having a replacement ink cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace ink cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable. If none of the cartridges are low on ink, you do not need to replace them yet. Continue to the next solution. If any of the cartridges are low on ink, continue to the next step to replace them.Step 2: Replace any low or empty ink cartridgesFollow these steps to replace any low or empty ink cartridges.Video of replacing the ink cartridges The following video demonstrates how to replace a cartridge.  If you have trouble viewing the video or to view the video in a different size, click here to play the video on YouTube. If the product is off, press the Power button () to turn on the product. Wait until the product is idle and silent before continuing.Open the cartridge access door. Otherwise, ink might leak from the cartridge. When you remove the plastic wrap, the paper label on the top of the cartridge tears slightly, which is necessary to vent the cartridge.Remove the orange cap from the cartridge. Twist the cap counter-clockwise until it snaps off.Figure : Remove the orange cap from the cartridgeWith the nozzle and the contacts facing down, push the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it is firmly seated. Make sure that the color icon on the cartridge label matches the color icon on the slot.Figure : Insert the cartridgeRepeat these steps to insert the other cartridges.Close the cartridge access door.Figure : Close the cartridge access doorStep 3: Align the printer Follow these steps to align the printer using the control panel. From the home screen, touch the Setup icon (), and then touch Tools.Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Align Printer. The alignment page prints.Lift the lid on the printer, and then place the alignment page print side down in the right front corner of the scanner glass.Figure : Place the alignment page on the scanner glassClose the lid, and then press OK on the control panel. The printer will align automatically. Press OK to continue.Solution three: Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctlyIf the vent on the top of the ink cartridge is clogged or obstructed, the ink cartridge might not work properly. Follow these steps to make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the access area.Figure : Open the cartridge access doorPress the tab on the front of the cartridge inward to release it, and then pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.Figure : Remove the cartridge from the slotExamine the vent area on each cartridge, above the HP logo on the top of the cartridge.Figure : Vent area on the top of the cartridgeIf the cartridge still has the orange pull-tab attached, pull to remove it.Figure : Orange pull tabIf the vent is clogged, use a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the vent.Figure : Clean the clogged vent with a pinClogged ventWith a straight pin, gently remove excess adhesive from the ventUnclogged ventWith the nozzle and contacts facing down, slide the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place. NOTE: Make sure that each cartridge is installed in the correct slot. Match the shape of the icon and the color of the cartridge with the slot that has the same shaped icon and color.Figure : Reinsert the cartridgeRepeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the cartridges.Make sure that each cartridge is firmly in place in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.Close the cartridge access door.Figure : Close the cartridge access doorTry the print job again.Solution four: Clean the printheadFollow these steps to use an automated tool to clean the printhead.Make sure that plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper is loaded in the tray. From the control panel home screen, touch the Settings icon (), and then touch Tools.Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Clean Printhead. The product cleans the printheads, and then prints a test page.Review the print quality on the test page.Figure : Example of the printhead cleaning test pageIf the print quality on the test page is satisfactory, return to the current print job.If the print quality on the test page is unsatisfactory, perform a secondary cleaning of the printhead. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again. NOTE:  Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing. Make sure that you replace any missing ink cartridges as soon as possible to avoid print quality issues and possible extra ink usage or damage to the ink system. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.Solution five: Service the printer Contacting HP for service in all countries/regions except Asia Pacific. If you completed all the preceding steps and your product still has an issue, service the product.First, go to Check your product warranty to check your printer warranty status, and then go to Contact HP Support to find an authorized service dealer or to schedule a repair.Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty printers. NOTE: Keep a print sample that shows the problem. If the ink cartridges, printhead, or printer is replaced under warranty, the support agent will request the print sample. If the printer is returned to HP, the print sample must be returned with the printer. Place the sample in the output tray when you package your printer for shipping. What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
    Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your
    contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone
    number
Case number and phone number appear. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

  • Two side printing out of Acrobat?

does anyone happen to know how to get a two-sided print out of Acrobat X? i have a 295 page numbers help document i want to print out and i can't find this setting no matter how much i look. the Adobe forum seems to be somewhat "windows-centric" but i am going to ask there as well.
i also tried a "two sided printing" search in the Acrobat help and no results came up.
TIA for any help on this.

    hi gents.
    thank you.
i do in fact have a duplex unit the HP 8600 All in One. the driver section for this printer (accessed through the Print + Scan options in Preferences) shows up as "HP OfficeJet Pro 8600" and it has both the Duplexer option checked as well as the "Additional Paper Input Tray" checked. Driver version is 3.3.3. also, note that i DO print on two sides in some of my other software (including docs printing with/from iOS7 on my iPhone).
i guess i need to check to see if i have the correct driver (?) but can you help me with two things before we get there?
    1. when i hit File > Print in Acrobat i get what looks like a "Mac" printer interface. it doesn't actually look like either of your screenshots (thanks) - even though i /think/ i have seen these before either on the laptop or on the desktop.
if i click on "Printer" in my dialog i then get a prompt (in this case with an adobe logo) that i have never understood: "The Print Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system. To ensure that you can use the full print capabilities of Acrobat, please set all print options from the Applications dialog box. Do you want to continue? Yes/No".
does anyone know what this means or what i am misunderstanding in all of this? seems totally bizarre to get the mac print dialog and then get into the Printer button and then get this option especially if i am running a print pulldown option from Acrobat...
    2. i am having to /manually/ put paper tray with the proper paper size into my two tray Espon WF 7520. i want to say that i /don't/ have this problem with the HP 8600 but now that i think about it i am not sure i have ever tried the second paper tray on the 8600. HOWEVER, i /do/ see the Duplexer checkbox option in the Driver settings of the 8600 while i /don't/ see this setting in the Epson WF 7520.
does anyone know if this is likely (also?!) a DRIVER SIDE ISSUE with respect to not getting any of my software to print to the second tray on the Epson? i mean, if i sherlock holmes this i /could/ say that if i cannot print to the second tray it is likely a old or wrong driver issue or even a implementation that they did not build into the good driver - since i cannot get to the second tray from anything on anything? or would this be incorrect...?
    THANKS

  • Convert two-side printing to one-side printing

I have a 6i report printing two-side pages. New changes need deleting back side so I delete the frame and everything on it. But the report still prints two sides, one being the desired and the other one unwanted blank (I know it because HP LaserJet 2100 prints two pages, as if it prints a two-side page report). Our production uses Xerox printers to print two-side pages so I don't want it print the blank, avoid its "overworking".
How can I delete the unwated blank side/page? What propert should I change?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Nagornyi!
It works, by setting the Hirozontal Panels per Page to 1.

  • My HP photosmart 5520 series is printing yellow instead red

My printer is printing yellow instead of red. It is a HP Photosmart 5520.
Could you please help solve this problem?
    Jill

    Hi @Jill21
I'd like to help you with your Photosmart 5520. I understand the printer is printing yellow when it should be printing red.
Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue; Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5....
If the issue remains unresolved after following all of the steps in the link above, I recommend contacting HP. Don't hesitate to call, although the printer may be out of warranty, the cartridges could be in warranty; therefore, there wouldn't likely be a fee for the phone support. HP will, at HP's option, either replace products under warranty that prove to be defective or refund the purchase price.
They could even determine after troubleshooting that it is a problem with the printer, in which case they may offer you a discount on a newer model.
The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
To find the “Warranty Ends” date, look in the following table for the date's location on each product. The date follows the YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM format, where YYYY indicates the year, MM indicates the month, and DD indicates the day.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP Photosmart c3180 Two-sided Printing

I have been advised by HP support that it is not possible to use the two-sided printing feature on this printer with Mac, although it works perfectly on my PC. Does anyone know of a way to enable this feature on Mac or some workaround?

One way to do this would be to run Windows in Parallels or some other partition environment, and print from Windows on your Mac.

  • Two sided printing in Windows 7

I have a duplex printer.  Previously (Windows XP), I could set the default on my printer to print double automatically by right-clicking on my printer icon in Printers & Faxes, clicking Properties then clicking Printing Preferences, then selecting from the drop-down in "Print on both sides:"  Now, I can't find that and have no idea how to change my printer to default automatic double sided printing.  I found how to set it to default to manual two-sided printing (undesirable), but that can't be the only option???

Sometimes Windows include the driver for your device, but it's a generic driver that might not give you all the features of the printer. I forgot to ask if you use Windows 7 x64 of x86, but you can choose the OS from the list using the link below and you should find the drivers from HP for your printer.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3673587...»
You also have a auto detect button using the link below that should be able to detect you printer and find the correct driver.
    http://www.hp.com/#Support
You might give it a try with the driver from HP and see if duplex printing works better. Please post back and let us know if this solved the problem or not.
