How to setup iChat in a office

How to setup iChat in a office that using Office Communicator as a IM ?

Hi,
Is Office Communicator something to do with the Word, Exel and Powerpoint Office Package ?
What sort of Screen Names or IDs do you use with that ?
If these are MSN/Live accounts names then it can be made to work for Text Chats but not Video or Audio Only chats

  • Amateur question - how to setup iChat service?

"Make sure the user is a user or member of a group that's defined in the Open Directory search path of the iChat server."
    How do I verify this?
I have created a user and the user is a member of the "chat server group", but I still can't connect to to the service.
    Help please! =)

    Hello buckster,
I'm also trying to turn on a iChat Server and use it. The iChat service is apparently "E-Z" to turn on in Server Admin tool but something about the wording of "search path" for Open Directory users is throwing me.
I'm not new Mac OS Server ( 3+ years ) nor to using Open Directory or WGM or Server Admin but I'm being tripped up in the setup of users. I can't seem to figure out "search policy" and "search path". I get the basic idea but I apparently do not understand the sequence of creating a Search Path so that iChat Server can be accessed.
    Basic Setup-
    DNS on
    LAN using 192.168.0.x
    192.168.0.1 - server.LANlocal_domainname.net
WAN using 10.0.1.x (Wireless thru AirPortBase Station as Gateway and Firewall internet with port routing to 10.0.1.2 as needed. APB is the DHCP manager for Wireless) server.WANdomainname.com
alias to ichat > server on both interfaces.
    DHCP on - Managing 192.168.0.x
    iChat on with Host Domains=ichat.LANlocal_domainname.net & ichat.WANdomainname.com
Open Directory on >>>>Open Directory Master with LDAP Settings pointing to search base of the WAN based user group
    dc=server,dc=WANdomainname,dc=com
    (CHECKED) Enable Secure Sockets Layer
    Certificate: Default
    Binding
    NO CHECKS
    Security
    NO CHECKS
    Workgroup Manager: server.WANdomainname.com
    Authenticated as DirectoryAdministrator to directory
    : /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1
I've got 23 users and 6 Groups that I have used for different kinds of things.
    Web Mail Access
    Website Access
    FileMaker Server Access
    Application Server Access
    etc.
and now I'd like get iChat working ....
I'm on the inside of a router (though that shouldn't matter, right?), no software firewall (Firewall Service is not On). For a start, all I'm trying to do is get two machines inside the LAN to chat with a Jabber client (iChat or Atrium). I keep getting indications that the server is not found.
Sorry if this seem lame but I would really appreciate a step by step of the set up of two users, one that is on another machine that is not directly controlled by the setup of Open Directory and WGM an another that is not the iChat Search as a client (as well as the server). I'd don't need lots of explaination but it would be really helpful to have a click by click for user, group, search path.
    Thank You for your help.

  • I don't understand how to setup iChat Server

I have iChat server running, but when I try to setup an account on the client side, I get an error that the Jabber user ID is invalid.
I don't understand. Why wouldn't the Jabber ID not be the same as the login information for the rest of the services?

    server.companyname.com.
that is correct is you have it set that way. You can make changes and have so you can log in as [email protected] if that is necessary. Personal choice really. I go for the format jabber.domain.com

  • How to use iChat to register a new Jabber Account

I work in an office with all Macs and we'd like to begin using iChat for intra-office messaging. Many of us already have AIM accounts, but we'd like to keep internal office communication strictly internal. We have a computer running Parallels Server and I've downloaded some different Jabber virtual appliances. The difficulty is that when I try to connect from iChat I'm continually prompted for a password.
Now, I've read that Jabber needs an account to be "registered" and several messaging clients (Psi, Adium, etc) support that registration process. What I'd like to know is either:
    a) How can one use iChat to perform the Jabber account registration process?
    or
    b) Is there another suggested piece of software that could be used by an administrator or one individual that could complete that process so that clients could use iChat?
    That ought to do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
With the exception of the Get a iChat Screen Name button in the First pane of Add an Account ichat has no other way to Register any name.
AN MobileMe name from Apple, an AIM Name for the AIM site or a Google Name all require that you register via a web Browser on a site.
Some Other Jabber servers also allow you to do this but on the whole it needs something like Psi or AdimuX that have the Jabber Registration module.
However if you are using OX Server then the Tiger and Leopard version have an iChat Server (which is a Jabber Server) on which Accounts can be set up.

  • How To Setup A Local Exchange Server Integrated With Office365 For A Single Mailbox

    Hello,
We recently migrated to Office365 but had an issue since we need more than 16 simultaneous connections to a single mailbox. Because of this, we need to deploy a local Exchange Server that will be used to host a single mailbox that requires up to 500 simultaneous
connections for a Contact Center application. I'm looking for information on how to setup the local Exchange Server to basically create a local instance of a mailbox hosted on Office 365. So we can have our application open the numerous simultaneous connections
to our local server which will then connection to Office 365 to send/receive email through the mailbox hosted on Office365.
Please let me know if you have any information or resources you can direct me toward.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
To deploy local Exchange server integrated with Office 365, we can depend on Exchange Server Deployment Assistant:

Please note that there may be 9646 error if there are many simultaneous connections at the same time.

    Hi,
According to your comment, I can say that Share permissions are automatically set up by the management tools once it will be created. We can use windows PowerShell or server manager to manage UPD. Also remember that User profile disks are for a single collection
only. A user connecting to two different collections will have two separate profiles.
Here providing important link to understand UPD. (You can refer below link for Server 2012 R2)
    1.  Easier User Data Management with User Profile Disks in Windows Server 2012
    2.  Working with User Profile Disks on Session-Based Desktop Deployments

  • How to setup remote access with E4200?

    Hi,
I am new to this and I need help from you all on how to setup the E4200 so that I can access the media server when I am in office?  Is there a guide or step by step procedure on this?  I was browsing on the Cisco website and unable to find it.

The purpose of using DDNS is it substitutes the public/WAN ip address provided by your ISP.We all know that the ip address provided by our ISP(if we are not subscribe to a premium static ip address) is basically public and will always change from time to time.So it will be difficult for us to know what's the ip address our ISP has provided us and this will lead us problems accessing our router or ftp server remotely. Thus by using DDNS' it will now allow us to access the router remotely without knowing what's the WAN ip address.

  • How to setup antispam correctly?

I set anti-spam to true and do not fill in any of the rejectdomains, rejectsenders or rejectrecipients.
when i use telent <ip> 25 to connect the smtp_in serivice
    it's failed.
550 5.7.1 Spam check failed for your IP address
If I set anitspam to false. It's all ok.
    why?
And how to setup antispam correctly?

I have struggled somewhat with the antispam settings, and find it a little confusing. Raffa is right when it comes to reverse DNS lookup. Reverse DNS must be configured by the originating ISP (where the physical connection goes), and has nothing to do with the "normal" DNS set up administered by the registrar for the domain name.
This is possible when you know what network the user connects from. I find this to be a problem for users whith å portable PC connecting from different locations (home/office/travel), as normal user identification fails with the "Spam check failed for your IP address" error message.
Has anyone successfully set up an OCS SMTP_IN that correctly allows users to send mail through this SMTP with the SPAM-check enabled? The documents in Metalink does not address my problem, as far as I can see.

  • How can I get my PC office documents onto my new ipad mini

How can I get my microsoft office documents off my PC and onto my new Ipad mini?

You will have to install an app to your ipad that can open them. Then you can either use file sharing in itunes to transfere those files to your ipad. Or you can install icloud control panel on your pc, purchase apple's iwork applications, and save the files to icloud.
    iTunes file sharing:
Transfer files between your computer and mobile apps
If you have an iPod touch or iPhone with iOS 4 or later, or an iPad, you can use iTunes to transfer files between your computer and an app on your device that supports file sharing.
You might want to do this if, for example, you want to save files you create on your device to your computer, or take files with you so you can use them when you’re away from your computer.
You don’t need to sync your device to transfer files, but your device needs to be connected to your computer.
For information about supported apps, see the documentation for your apps.
ShowTransfer files from your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad to your computer
HideTransfer files from your computer to your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad
Connect your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.
    Click Apps.
Below File Sharing, select an app from the list, and click Add.
In the window that appears, select a file to transfer, and click Open.
The file is transferred to your device, and can be opened in the app you selected in step 3.

  • How to setup an artist mix (audio mixer) on final cut pro 7?

how to setup an artist mix (audio mixer) on final cut pro 7?

    Hi Meatpuppet,
I'm having the same issue with not getting my audio through to the client on Ichat theater preveiew. I'm on a mac pro with a small DV camera attached via firewire. when I start the chat, the person on the other side sees and hears me fine, but then when I start sharing in FCP, the video switches so that the remote person sees the time line, but loses the audio from me and doesn't hear the audio from the time line...
The manual recommends "disconnecting and external video device" ( then what do us mac pro folks do?)
So my question for you, and I know that you're on and Apogee Duet, is: Was your tinkering in FCP, your system sound settings, or iChat? in other words, where was the disconnect?
    thanks.

Just upgraded to Lion, how can I use my microsoft office especially excel.  I'm getting messages that it's no longer supported.  This is a BIG problem.  Help, please.

Apple has made a serious error not advising people when the Lion upgrade occurs that their present software may/will not be compatible and advise the user of such before and allow a opt out.
All you can do (besides upgrading all your software) is backup your data off the machine (not to TimeMachine) and disconnect all drives.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk and erase your makers hard drive on the far left, (that's the entire drive of everything)
Partition tab: Option: GUID, format OS X extended and click apply so you get a new GUID (replacing the Lion one or trouble occurs later)
Quit and install 10.6, then go through setup and use the same name as before, then update to 10.6.8
Then c boot off the 10.6 disk again and use Disk Utility to Repair the disk the 10.6.8 update messed up.
Then install all your programs again from fresh sources and lastly your user files in the same main user folders as before (music, pictures, documents etc.)
Done as described will get you back just like it was before as close as possible, make SURE to use the same username or else your iTunes and other files get all messed up. Password and drive name can be different though if you wish.
Note: if you've upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6, then you don't get the free iLife as it's not on the 10.6.3 white disks, only on the disks that came with your machine. So that will have to be purchased and reinstalled or use Pacifist to extract it from the 10.5 disks.
This handy site can advise you what software doesn't work with the Lion.
