How to setup MX Records etc at Host

I am new to Leopard server. I have setup using advance a server for my small business (5 employees). to-date we have had a hosted solutions with both Website and Mail hosted by Melbourneit.
I have now setup a leopard server and all services are working great except my last step is to get mail to receive emails, ie i can send mail, but havent been able to work out how or what the MX records etc i have to change to get it to recieve it to the server. I am confused how i amend the MX records etc at the host. They have the zone editor and i have had a look.
I have my server managing DNS within the office network. ie server.yourdomain.com
how and what do i have to amend at the host end.
they have MX records and A records.
ie yourdomain.com MX 1st mail.yourdomain.com
www.yourdomain.com mx 1st mail.yourdomain.com
mail.yourdomain.com A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
I have a static ip address....
do i have to change the MX record to be server.yourdomain.com
then change the A record to point to my static IP address?
When you do that do you have to wait for 24 hours or so for it to redirect?
Any assistance or pointing to a website that might provide assistance would be great.

I have a hosted domain. www.domain.com the mail has up until now been handled by it, however it only had pop3 accounts and now that i am moving around alot i wanted to use IMAP and thought it was a good time to have a go at setting up a server.
I have named my server at home server.domain.com
now i wanted to redirect my mail that is currently being handled by my domain host to my own server.
from your reply then do i change the 2 records that are currently....
domain.com 86400 mx 50 mail.domain.com
and
mail.domain.com 86400 IN A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
to
domain.com 86400 IN MX 50 server.domain.com and
and amend mail.domain.com 86400 IN A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to
server.domain.com 86400 IN A MY.SERVER.IP.ADDRESS.
I have setup a static IP address at home (i have opened up and directed ports 25,110,143 and 993 to the server).
there are also other entries ie
another mx record being the www.domain.com point to the mail.domain.com
and other A records.
and smtp.domain.com
webmail.domain.com
domain.com
all point to the host static ip address
do I need to change any of them?

From Jdeveloper 9.0.3 I want to deploy a business component to an new oc4j instance running under 9ias version 9.0.3.
In jdeveloper I have built and tested an application server connection (type=Oracle Application Sever Remote DCM) to my new oc4j instance on 9ias. My understanding is that the jdeveloper deployment profile wizard will help me construct a profile to build what is known as an "EJB session bean".
Using EmWebSite, I have created and started the new oc4j instance, and i constructed a datasource to be used for the database connection.
Is there anything else that I will need to do to the new 9ias oc4j instance prior to building the deployment profile in jdeveloper, and then running the deployment? For instance, does this new oc4j instance somehow have the necessary hooks in it to support this bc4j component? Do I need to install any missing jar files? Do I need to define rmi ports ? Do I need to configure BC4J support?
BTW ... I have tried to pursue this topic from the Jdeveloper side but the support personnel are not familar with 9ias 903, nor are they familar with 9ias Remote DCM deployment.

Yes, you should be able to deploy an BC4J application without making any other changes to an IAS instance. For standalone OC4J please look at http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/config_oc4j_for_bc4j.html

Setup Microsoft Office 2013 KMS Host on Windows Server 2008 R2

hope someone can help, banging my head against a brick wall here.

Dont need to install 275817 as its already applied to the server that has the KMS install on it.
When i get to step 3 and double click the exe from the MSDL site i get the cscript window but nothing happens, the window stays blank and then closes, i never get the prompt to enter the licence key for Office 2013 KMS key.
Its a Windows server 2008 R2 install, fully patched and rebooted.
Checked the logs and can find nothing, has anyone seen this or know a fix?

Put quotes around the dots in the format string like this
FMXXXX"."XX"."XX"."XX
Note the quotes are not around the XXs but around the periods "."
In the front end, the HTS code is entered without the trailing zeroes and it is amended to match the format e.g. if you enter 4010 and this
is a valid chapter in HTS_CHAPTER then it will in the form apply the format above to make it 4010. . .

How to setup a SAN

there are many questions you need to ask (and answer) before you can proceed with setting up your SAN.
a) do you have an existing SAN (Storage Network) in your shop?
b) if you don't have an existing SAN, what exactly do you intend to do with one v210 and the 6100? Set up a scalable network of storage devices or simply configure the v210 to access the 6100?
c) if you want to set up a scalable network of storage devices, you need to analyze how big is it going to get (how much storage are you going to have after 1 year, 2 years, etc). How many hosts are you going to connect to this network?
In other words, planning for a SAN is very similar to planning a data network layout. First identify all your pieces and then design your solution. Then pilot the design. Then implement the design. Then as the other poster said, In-SAN-ity will follow suit...

There are 3rd party software out there which can do a much better job at broadcasting wave file, send live page, text notification, weather alerts, etc.
If you want to develop yourself, you need to use RTPTx, RTPRx and CiscoIPPhoneExecute objects from SDK. To broadcast audio to a multicast, there is also sample code available. The problem is managing the phone list and groups and providing an intuitive interface for users and sys admins. I do have some sample code that we used in PhoneTop Messenger product, but it is all in Java and needs a Windows box to host it.

Well, it depends heavily on what operating system you're using, what mail server you're trying to install, your network topology, etc. Realistically, this is a question that is probably better asked in a forum for whatever mail server you're trying to install...

On linux we are using sendmail which is comes wiht linux. You have to make some adjustment on it to can send email
Please follow below steps:
1. edit /etc/mail/sendmail.cf << PART:
     # "Smart" relay host (may be null)
     DSulak.EXCHANGE SERVER NAME
2. edit /etc/resolv.conf
     search EXCHANGE SERVER NAME
     nameserver 10.x.x << Dns server
3. edit /etc/mail/ trusted-users and add below to this file
root
daemon
uucp
4. check services
     ps -elf|grep mail
if its not running
     service sendmail start
5. test to send mail
     mail -s "test" [email protected] < trusted-users

What you are talking about is building a "form". What you have posted is a sample of a pre-built form and a service that offers free coding, or will go the next step for you and install a functioning form for you.
Golive has what you need to build forms on your own - it has all the text fields, radio buttons, submit buttons etc. available, and any book about whatever GoLive version you have (including the online HELP) will have step-by-step instructions on how to do the building on your end.
The tricky part comes with making the form actually work. GoLive can only build the form page with all the fields and buttons, etc. but processing a form requires a server, and coding has to be added to your page that directs the page to interact with the server and process the form.
Different servers (i.e. different hosting companies) handle forms differently. Some use cgi scripts, some use php scripts and occasionally other types. Some companies have prefab forms setup for you, similarly to what you posted from FreeContactForm, with good directions on how to make the scripts work with your forms. Others have prefab forms and poor directions or no directions on how to make the scripts work with your form. Other companies tell you you're on your own altogether.
I'm from the design side of the world and doing forms was quite intimidating for me originally. It doesn't intimidate me anymore but it's usually a minor pain in the a$$. Depends on the hosting company. Some have instructions that are clear and easy, etc. Others, not so much.
What I generally do is start by contacting the hosting company Tech Support and asking how they handle forms. They may direct me to their prefab stuff, often accessible through an ADMIN portal, or they'll tell me to go find my own script, or whatever. Depending on what they offer I'll take a look and if I have questions I'll call them back or not.
Basically with forms you have 2 key things to grasp. What coding do you need to add to your web page? And do you need to address any kind of separate document? Sometimes there will be a script page that resides on the server (in a cgi-bin, or php folder, or on the root) that you would need to open and add something to. In your web page itself you always have to add something to the form part of the coding, but sometimes you add something to your head code as well. It just depends on the script involved.
Generally you need to provide the email address that the form results will be sent to, a URL for a "Thank You For Subscribing" (or whatever) page that will appear after the person hits the "submit" button, or other page you want to appear (maybe you just have them go back to the homepage on the website, or you send them to a default "your form has been submitted" page that the script will generate if you don't provide a URL. Thats ez, but the pages are usually ugly and won't match your site at all.). Also, you usually have options to provide a Subject Line for the email that will be generated so that the receiver knows that the email is from the form, etc.
FreeContactForm appears to be offering to just handle all that for you and you can certainly go that route. When I first tackled forms I needed a programmer buddy to help understand what the heck was going on - you'll probably need someone to help you. But it IS good to learn to understand the basics because, if you build websites it's going to come up over and over. And it's good to learn to work in source code at least to some extent, because that will come up too.
But if you're building something for fun now and aren't going to do this a lot, you probably don't need to hassle with it.

How to setup dreamweaver for synchronizing website?

Hi, I'm trying to setup dreamweaver 8 in a way that mimics my
online website. The problem I am having is that on my real sites'
server I have placed most of the files outsite the public root
(security reasons), and I'm not sure how to setup dreamweaver so I
can synchronize with this. I am running a WAMP configuration for my
test / development machine.
Online website structure:

An example of how my apache virtual host is setup
Document Root: C:\mysite\public_html //This works fine...
If I setup a site in dreamweaver that uses C:\mysite as the
root, the setup resembles the online one. But there is a problem
with this because it uses C:\mysite as the "document root" whereas
the folder C:\mysite\public_html should be the document root. Now
if I change my document root to C:\mysite\public_html then I don't
have access to any of the files above this directory... I'm kind of
screwed with each option I take...

Help! Confusion over how to setup intel3945 wireless and rc.conf

I'm very confused. I've already read through all the wikis and searched many forum posts. I can't get my wireless intel3945 to work on my dell vostro 1400.
Iwconfig says the wireless card is at wlan0 and dmesg | grep iwl says it has detected it. However, when I try a iwlist wlan0 scan it returns :
wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down
I think the problem is that I don't know how to setup rc.conf correctly or use the command line to test the wireless. Forum posts say many different things on how this is done.
These are the steps I have taken:
uninstalled the ipw3945 and ipw3945-ucode and ipw3945d.
installed iwlwifi and iwlwifi-3945-ucode
in my rc.conf modules, added iwl3945.
I'm not sure how to setup the networking section, this what I have now:
lo="lo 127.0.01"
eth0="dhcp"
wlan0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(lo etho)
gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
ROUTES=(!gateway)
And in my dameons I have 'network'.
How can I scan for networks and connect to them on the commandline? I'd prefer not to use a gui tool because they never work and never tell me why they're not working.

Simply when I configured wireless, netcfg2 wasn't available. Since then it (wireless) works, so not having any problems, I did not modify network setup. Next week or so I am going to install Arch on my daughter's laptop (per her request ) so I will try netcfg2.
So this is what I have for ipw3945 wpa2 or iwl3945 with wpa2

for default kernel install Arch packages for ipw3945, ipw3945d, ipw3945-ucode
or
if you want to compile modules, you will also need ieee80211 (first uninstall kernel's default, then install from sources otherwise ieee80211 from sources may refuse to install)
modify /etc/rc.conf
DAEMONS=(.... @ipw3945d @network ....)
that is all you don't need to add ipw3945 to MODULES=(.....)
because ipw3945d will automatically start ipw3945 module
do not list eth1 in network config section:
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(eth0)
as you see, in my case only eth0 (wired) is listed and eth1 (wireless) is not listed
now you are done with basic network configuration for ipw3945, restart network/computer to bring up ipw3945d/ipw3945

and add iwlwifi to
MODULES=(.....)
nothing else is required.
if you have kernel 2.6.24 with integrated iwlwifi module you don't have to edit /etc/rc.conf

I am using cisco vpn. Client is provided by vpn host, cisco does not provide vpn client for individual download, but you can find it on line.
vpn host will provide pcf file for you
- install vpnclient
- copy your VPN profile (vpn.pcf) to the
/etc/CiscoSystemsVPNClient/Profiles
directory
-- start vpn client
/opt/cisco-vpnclient/bin/vpnclient connect vpn pcf_file_name
provide username and password and off you go
From my experience none of linux gui for vpn works reliably so you will have to resort to the command line.
That is all, a lot of writing, but actual ipw3945 and iwl3945 configuration is straightforward and very short.
Hopefully this will work for you.

you will have to modify
/etc/init.d/vpnclient_init
line 38 and line 101
replace

How to setup local loopback for "Oracle 11g Release 2" installtion

I was trying to install the Oracle 11g Release 2 on Red hat 6 using Local Loop back configuration, but not able to install..
The contents of are:-
/etc/resolv.conf

and of /etc/hosts are:

System eth0 is having setting given below:-
IPV4 is set to " Automatic(DHCP)".
IPV6 is set to "ignore".
If i select system etho0 then host-name gets changed it becomes "dhcppc0".
i checked it using command host-name. and if i try to install with this configuration then during installation gives error of networking as host-name has been changed to "dhcppc0".
Please tell me what to do for local loopback configuration

i am using "oracle Release 11.2.0.1.0" but same problem was there with oracle 10g on redhat 5.

Hello,
How to setup three SharePoint sites on one server? I have three sites like:
http://site1
http://site2
http://site3
And need to have them running up on one server. I recall some changes need to be done to the host file, but not sure. Can you advise on what to change?
