    4. Goto Control Panel>User Accounts, add a new user.
    5. Logon to this user, and open the profile folder properties.
    5b. Share this folder.
    6. Make the Share permissions so that 'everyone' has: Full Control, Read, Change.
    Click Apply + Ok.
    7. Click on 'Caching' and disable Caching for this Share.
    Click Ok.
    8. Now goto the 'Security' tab and give 'Administrator' and 'SYSTEM' 'Full Control'.
    Click Apply + Ok.
    On the remote PC(s):
    1. Make the same User as on the Host.
1b.Logon to the account and log back out again. Delete the profile folder from 'Documents and Settings'.
    3. Give 'SYSTEM': 'Read','Read and Execute','List Folder Contents' to the 'Administrators' Profile
    4. Type 'lusrmgr.msc' into run, goto: 'Users', double click on the new user and goto the 'Profile' tab.

    5. Goto regedit>HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion. Double click
    on 'ProfileList'.
Find which key is for the new user. (Example S-1-5-21-58435627-18431725-18026167-1003)
    6. Right click that key and goto: 'Permissions' and give 'SYSTEM' 'read'.
*Note* Once you logon to the roaming profile from the remote PC for the first time you can undo this step.
    7. goto GPEdit>Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/User Profiles:
    Enable these settings:
'Do not check for user ownership of roaming profile folders'
'Delete cached copies of roaming profiles'
'Log users off when roaming profile fails'
"Add the Administrators security group to roaming profiles'
'Prevent roaming profile changes from propagating to the server'
7b. Make 'Timeout for dialog boxes' '1' (seconds)
    8. goto: Computer Configuration/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options:
Make 'Number of previous logons to cache (if server is unavailable) '0'
Now you're ready to login to the Profile on the remote PC.
*Note* Sometimes, when windows loads it takes a minute for the profile folder to become shared again.

  • How to setup "Back to My Mac" on iCloud.

Does anyone know how to setup Back to My Mac on iCloud? I never had MobileMe, and all the instructions I find online are for MobileMe. It seems like a really cool concept, though.
The computers I have are a Mac Pro and a Macbook Pro. Both running the latest update of Lion.

I've done that. It goes through as if there are no problems, but I still can't use it. Also, when I try to login using my apple ID, it doesn't work. I've gone to the Airport Utility and tried setting up my apple ID with the mobile me tab, but it asks for my me.com username and password. I never had a password for it, because I setup using cloud. I put in my apple ID password anyway, but there is still no luck. It tells me my username or password is incorrect.

  • How to set up roaming profile on Macs using AD like in windows

I can bind the workstations to the domain fine.. But can someone direct me to instructions of how to set up the roaming profiles ?
What steps do I need on the server ? This is what I've done so far.
I already have OU's for the departments and the users have a shared folder inside their department folder.... \\server\shared_folder\user
I have done the usual things with AD as far as the profile settings on the windows server.
Am currently running Mac OS 10.5 and above
My windows AD runs on windows server 2008
All my windows workstation are able to use roaming profile without a problem.
So far i have tried the so many avenues including..
Make sure the Mac systems are joined to the domain controller and an ADS user can log on successfully. Use "Directory Utility" under "Utilities" menu to join the system to the domain.
Backup all the contents from /Users to the storage or somewhere locally.
Configure automount - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Mounts" tab and add automount as mentioned below. Remote NFS URL: nfs://server_name/share_name/path/to/profile/directory Mount location: /Users Additional mount parameters: -P,-T Apply the settings and this will mount the remote shared folder or we can name it as Roaming Profile Space - under /Users directory
Enable roaming profile - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Services" -> Select "Active Directory" and click "Show advanced option" - Click "User experience" tab and select the option "Create mobile account at login".
Reboot the system and log in as any ADS user. The Roaming shared folder will be mounted and the user profile will be created on the shared folder
    Can anyone kindly assist me

  • Cannot load the roaming profile in MAC OS X  Leopard (10.5.4)

    Hi
i am using leopard 10.5.4.my users have a default windows profile path at /Server HD/Users/Profiles/username.when i login from windows clients some users cannot load the profile.the following error is displayed in windows clients
windows cannot load your roaming profile.
please help me to resolve this issue
    regs
    S.Mohan

Roaming profiles via Mac OSX Server are different from Roaming Profiles via Windows Server.
Some things you must do, to keep the profiles syncing... First understanding that an database (db) files will create issues. Windows does not do a good job of releasing / unlocking the files. This will show up in Thumbs.db and newly created Favorites located within the profile.
    1. Disable thumbnail caching on the windows clients.
    2. Disable web client services (optional).
    3. Move any db,s (like ACT 2008) out of the profile.
    3. Move Favorites out to the profile (we use teakUI to relocate it to c://)
On boot, the error that a roaming profile can't load, will also present (about 20 seconds) the path of the bad file.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I setup roaming profiles on Windows 7 with a NAS?

I am going to setup Windows 7 (64-Bit) on 2 Desktops & 1 Laptop on my home network.
I have a Central Axis NAS connected. I would like to be able to use roaming profiles on the PC's and have the Home location of the profiles on the NAS. I know the Laptop will have to keep a temporary profile on it until it can reconnect to my network.
I currently have no roaming profiles setup yet on any PC.
Has anyone attempted anything like this?

  • How to setup QoS for IP/Mac Address WRVS4400N

I need some help setting up QoS for two Cisco/Linksys devivces on my network.
Network devices are Comcast SB6120 modem into WRVS4400n (v2.0.2.1 firmware) that divides into one 24 port gigabit Netgear unmanaged switch, 1 port into AT&T Cisco Microcell, 1 port to HP Officejet 7700 wired printer.  Unmanaged switch has approx 10 devices attached (including another 8 port unmanaged gigabit switch).  3 static leases are defined for the network for three devices (HP OJ 7700 printer, Cisco/Linksys PAP2 VOIP adapter, windows home server v1.  DHCP is handled by WRVS4400n.  Comcast service provides 12mbps of service upstream, 4mbps downstream.
Need to setup QoS for AT&T Microcell and PAP2 VOIP adapter.  The real issue that I can't figure out how to configure is IP based priority access.  I can do rate control for an IP address but can't figure out how to specify priority control for an IP.
Here are my the current config questions:
    1.  Bandwidth management page:  For the microcell device plugged into port 1, do i set the default CoS to 4 or 1?
    2.  Bandwidth management page:  Should the bandwidth management type be set to priority?  I assume yes since I need to define the UDP/TCP ports for priority.  The major issues here are
    a) one of the ports the Microcell uses is secure https (TCP 443) which is could also be used by any other internet device.
    b) can't specify priority for the PAP2, since it's behind the unmanaged 24 port switch
    3.  QoS setup page:  Do I need just 2 queues (one for the port ID for the Microcell and one for the IP address of the Linksys adapter)?
    4.  QoS setup page:  I assume I need to define DSCP for the unmanaged switch but not sure how to tie a queue to an IP address
    4.  QoS setup page:  Shoud priority 0 be set for the most important queue (microcell) and the priority 1 CoS be for the VOIP adapter?  Again, not sure about how to define priority by IP address.
    5.  DSCP setup page:  As far as I can find, there's no documentation on how to setup this page.

That's what I do. I keep it simple, one calendar, one set of contacts.
iCloud is really the simplest way to go, as it will sync your (eventual) single Contacts and Calendar across all your devices.
    I would:
Figure out which single calendar (in Calendar.app) and contacts (in Contacts.app) that you want to keep.
I'd make a backup of each one. For example,
in Contacts, File > Export... > Contacts Archive...
in Calendar, File > Export... > Calendar Archive...
Make a backup of the other calendar events and contacts that you want to save.
delete all the contacts and calendars from your phones and your iPad.
add the contacts and events from the backups to the single calendar in Calendar.app and your contacts in Contacts.app on your iMac. There is probably some way to export the contacts and events you are adding, and then combine them, but you could also just add them manually.
Then when you configure all your devices for iCloud, they will be all synced automatically.

  • Set up roaming profiles for mac and windows

So I have a a few macs and some windows pcs. I am using windows server 2008 for the server and I was able to bind the macs to the server. I also did set up the romeing profiles on the server. The thing I am having a issue with is I will like it so when someone saves a file on there mac desktop and they login to a windows computer it will show that file on the windows desktop. If anyone can help me on how to set this up please do

Unless you have 3rd-party apps allowing Windoze to read and write Mac OS Extended, or your Mac to read & write NTFS, your options are ExFat or Fat.   See #9 in Using Disk Utility.

  • How to Setup Epson R300 to Mac Pro

I use a mid - 2012 Mac Pro; run Mavericks OS X 10.9.3.  I have an Epson R300 that is incompatible with 10.9.3; but according to Epson I may be able to setup my R300 to my Mac Pro buy one of three ways:
    1. USB:  Connect your product to your Mac using a USB cable.
    2. Wireless:  You'll need to download and install the "Epson Wireless Setup" utility to establish the connection to your router.
    3. Ethernet:  My Epson printer does not have an Ethernet connection so this one is ruled out.
I am trying number 1: USB.  I downloaded the Apple "PrinterProxy Version 9.0 (447)" and ran the software.  Whenever I try to print something I get the following:
    "Stopped - Unsupported colorspace = -1, 1 page"
What should I do to print with the above mentioned Epson printer, if possible?

sorry, Angel L, I don't know what "PrinterProxy" is, but according to Epson's website, the latest driver was released 09-25-2013, the print cd utility was released on 08-01-2013. For printer drivers, just do a "software update' from the Apple menu, if an update comes up, install it, , then grab the print CD utility and install that . Epson's position is that it's in Apple's hands now.  If you want updated drivers, your best best would be, I suppose, do the "software update" thing.
So, you'd have to go into printing and scanning, under system preferences, delete the printer, then click on the Plus sign to add one, then choose the Epson driver.  then finish. If you have a printer proxy set up, from within the print dialog, hold down the Command and Option keys while selecting your desired printer from the popup button. Unfortunately, the article I got this info from mentions 10.6/10.7 and nothing about 10.9.  Don't know why you need a printer proxy, anyways,  but there's lots of stuff I don't know. See if you can delete the PrinterProxy and print via usb. Other than that, maybe Gimp Print?
sorry,  I tried, but the crystal ball has gone dark

  • Mac OS X Lion Server Roaming Profiles

I have Mac OS X Lion Server on my iMac and want to setup "Roaming Profiles" to be able to go into any one of my macs, laptops and desktops, and log in to the same profile. Any one know if this is possible and if so, how to do this???

You should be able to do this in the Workgroup Manager like http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-configure-mobility-settings-on-lion -server-.html or in the Profile Manager. Depends on your setup.

  • Roaming Profile at User level simply not copying...no error

Little rusty on setting this up but if I recall if I choose to setup roaming profiles at the user object level then I simply need to create a share with the appropriate share/NTFS permissions then assign the UNC path in the Profile tab in ADUC?  We
are running Win 2008 R2 with Win 7 SP1 clients.
If this is correct then I have done this and the profile will simply not roam...no errors in event log, the test user simply logs in and has a normal local profile.  While I am logged in as this user I can access the above UNC and create a folder so
    I think permissions are ok.
Originally this computer and test user were in an OU where I set a GPO setting up Folder Redirection.  Thinking that I possibly configured something incorrectly there I moved the user and computer object to a basic OU where only the default domain policy
    is applied.  No change.
I don't remember getting this part working to be such a hassle so I am at a loss now how to troubleshoot further.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Since Roaming Profile doesn’t work correctly, and you could not find any error in the event logs. At this time, I suggest you’d better first check for the correct permissions on the profile
share. In addition to logging events in the Application Event log, User Profiles can provide a detailed log to aid troubleshooting. To create a detailed log file for user profiles:
    1. Start regedit and locate the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    2. Create a new value called UserEnvDebugLevel as a REG_DWORD, and set the value to 30002 in hexadecimal format.
The log file can be found at: %windir%\debug\usermode\userenv.log
Regarding how to troubleshoot Roaming Profile issue, please try to refer to the following article to see if it helps.

    No, that is not correct.
