How to Setup Runtime Systems

Hi,
I intend to try out the transportation process of NWDI. I only have 3 servers (1 for development, 1 for test and 1 for production) so how best should I setup the RTS? Is it necessary to set both DEV and CON or I can just set for one? Can DEV and CON point to same server?
Option 1:
DEV >> TEST >> PROD
*CON RTS not set
Option 2:
CON >> TEST >> PROD
*DEV RTS not set
Option 3:
DEV >> CON >> TEST >> PROD
*both DEV and CON set to same server
If DEV is set, after import of ESS codes, I presume I can access it from DEV RTS? But everytime I make a change then check-in, activate then release, it will go to CON waiting import. Does it mean CON RTS must be set so I may import then test out my amendments?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Regards,
Winnie

Hi,
Q1:
Answer:
Please refer to  Consolidation system forum.
Can DEV and CON point to same server?
Yes.
Q: Is there any point in doing this?
Obviously no point in doing this. But it does not restrict you.

  • Advice on how to setup my systems (xen, gpu passthrough, X)

    Hello Archers
I'll try to keep it as short as possible
    What I want:
I want to run different operating systems at the same time.
I want to be able to switch between them fast.
I want all keys to work in the guest systems (I've had trouble getting along with VNC regarding this)
I would prefer if the host system is as stable, lightweight, and as unmodified as possible
    Why:
To learn about different systems and how to set them up.
I want to compare services/daemons of the same type, such as e-mail, ftp, http.
I also believe in using the right tool(OS) for the right job
    How:
I've read about Xen's GPU passthrough feature which interest me quite a bit, but I'm a little unsure how it works, from boot of the host to X in a guest.
I know you "hide" PCI/GPU interfaces at the bootloader stage. But if you for example hide the main GPU because you want this in your guest, what happens on the screen while the host system is booting? Is the monitor just saying "No signal" until the guest starts booting and takes over it?
If I disregard the GPU passthrough feature, I think I would need X on my host system. I read Xen either uses VNC or SDL to serve a screen of a guest. However, VNC isn't perfect with mod keys and mouse acceleration, and SDL requires X to be running at all times (host X crashes = all guest with SDL crashes).
So I was thinking if it's possible to connect to a running X within a guest, from my X running on the host, and use Ctrl+Alt+F1...F12 to change between the different guests running X.
I'm familiar with starting applications on remote X servers by changing the DISPLAY variable, but is it also possible to do something like
    DISPLAY=xenguest1:0 xinit /path/to/wm -- :1
And then have the guest X on, say, Ctrl+alt+F4, while the host X is on Ctrl+alt+F3?
    Previous experiences:
I've used VirtualBox and QEMU, but in both cases I felt the quest OSes were more temporary and targeted towards development on different platforms. The mouse pointer was also a bit laggy in QEMU, which I didn't like while testing graphical systems.

Is there a possibility to setup my TC so that I can connect my MacBook Pro via an ethernet cable to the TC without a connection to the wireless network router?
No, when the TC is configured to "join" a wireless network, it performs no routing functions...the Ethernet ports are not enabled.
If this is not possible, what can I do to be able to make the first backup via ethernet and then keep that backup on the TC and setup the TC as a part of my wireless network again (without connection to the router) ?
Temporarily, configure the TC using AirPort Utility - Manual Setup as follows:
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons and change the Wireless Mode to "Off"
Click the Internet icon, then click the Internet Connection tab. Settings should look like this:
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update and click "ignore" to any messages that indicate that you do not have an Ethenret cable plugged into the WAN port and you do not have an Internet Connection
Connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC
Turn off the wireless on your Mac
Setup Time Machine again to connect to the Time Capsule and start the backup
In general, backups should occur at about 30 GB an hour, so a good time to do this might be overnight
When the backup is completed, configure the TC again to "join" your wireless network so that incremental backups will occur over the wireless network

  • How do I setup my system to look like the other Arch user's?

I just finished installing Arch on my EeePC 100HA and I'm looking how to setup my system like other users have in their screenshots located here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75154 . This one in particular: http://fc09.deviantart.com/fs45/f/2009/ … _haxit.png
I see that he's using some type of window manager like xmonad or openbox, but I can't really tell. He has links to all of his configuration files but I don't know where to paste them on my system. When I look at those config files, I get scared to even attempt this, but I really want a system as slick as that one, or like any of the amazing customized Arch systems I've seen around here.

  • Maximum number of runtime systems

    ALL,
We plan to do some modification of Xss components using NWDI based on NW04s SR1 . We have already installed NWDI , created the tracks etc .We also have a three tier landscape consisting of Dev, QA and Prod . My question is how may maximum runtime systems , I can have ( from NWDI there are 4 visible like ) . For eg : If I wanted to include SAndbox and training landscape , totally there will be file landscape . Will NWDI support more that 4 landscape to add as runtime systems in a track ? Is there any mechanism to do this ?
    Aneez

you can get some documentation from the sap library, e.g.:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/13/602b27f6fb41b4a9eb4f72eabb9832/frameset.htm
This is the Netweaver 2004 documentation, in case you use NW 2004s just type "track connection" into the search field and you'll find a similar chapter for NW 2004s.

  • How to setup a BW test system?

    Hi
We are having R/3 and now we are planning to install BW. Now a few questions are coming to us like...
    1. In what cases we need a test system? Can we bypass test system and have development and productive system only?
    2. How to setup a test system? Should we reload data from R/3 test system or can it be sourced from BW Productive system (in order to get more historical data)?
    3. Has anybody setup a test system and loaded data from BW Productive system before?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Pundit

    Hi Arjun,
It is depends on client, for eg:say if client follows Sixsigma processes, then give much importance on Quality. So in this scenario it becomes much clear to have Quality box, If for other clients who don't have much Quality processes in place. you can take up the Quality (test) in Development box itself.
And it also depends on data you want have test on. For some clients they move much of their historical data for testing purpose..
Also some clients mainatain all 3 boxes(Dev,QA & Prod.)in sink..so that it would be easy for any changes or whatsoever.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to setup Forms 9i runtime environment?

How to setup Forms 9i runtime environment?
I developed a test form and I am getting "Page cannot be displayed" error when I run the form.
Steps I followed to run the form...
    1. Started OC4J Instance
< Dos Window opened and contained data " Oracle 9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) containers for J2EE initialized >
    2. I Run my test form.
< In the IE browser got "Page cannot be displayed" error.
In DOS Window I got the following message ...
    FormsServlet init():
    ConfigFileName: null
    testMode false >
Do I need to setup something else???
    Please advise.

My guess then would be that the problem is that you get:
ConfigFileName: null in the OC4J log window. This should actually point to a config file for the Forms server : formsweb.cfg.
Are you running the OC4J that came with Oracle9iDS?
What happens if you try the following URL:
    http://127.0.0.1:8888/forms90/f90servlet
I don't know why it is not configured for you. might be worth a reinstall.

  • DCNM5.2 as NX1010 VSB: How to setup system time or NTP?

    Hello,
We installed DCNM 5.2.2c Virtual Service Blade on a Nexus 1010. But we are not able to find how to setup time or NTP neither from GUI nor from the NX1010 CLI. Do we need to touch the virtual appliance for time settings?
    Steffen

What is the best way to do that?
Use ethernet.. performance of wireless is never as good as ethernet.
What wifi channel need choose to?
There is no such thing as the best channel..
Leave everything auto.. and see if it gives you full download speed.
Use 5ghz.. and keep everything up close to the TC for the best wireless speed.
If you are far away it will drop back to 2.4ghz which is slower.
Once you reach the internet speed nothing is going to help it go faster so you are worrying about nothing.

  • How to Setup Historical DSC Database on a standalone Server

    Hey @all,
I am looking for documentation how to setup a standalone server for the DSC Module(Ver. 8) Historical Database.
My aim is to log all data to this server. The Server will be running Win2K.
Do I have to install the complete Labview 8 software and the DSC Module?
Does a walkthrough exist how to setup a DSC server?
    Thx!
    Carsten

After installing the runtime you should only have to reboot the computer in order to get the citadel service running.  At the point, for citadel purposes, this machine will behave as though you had the DSC development system installed.  The 8.0 runtime has no setup requirements...it should only need to be installed.  Unlike previous versions, 8.0 requires you to build your application into an executable and the runtime should be invisible to you once you install it.  If this is not the case, please post about it so it can be looked at.
If you have specific questions, please post them and I will either try and help you find the answers, get them posted, or answer them myself.

    Robert

  • Questions on Runtime systems

    Hi to all
    I have two questions:
    1)
SAP says do not use the system where the JDI s installed as runtime system, I suppose in order to avoid the CMS deadlock described in note 754143. Right ?
Suppose we have three system D (develop), T (test) and P (Pro). Teh JDI is instaleld in D. We define the track Development with the runtime systems T as "test" and P as "production".
As I understood the deploy on the D system happen automatically as soon the activation is triggered into the Dev Studio IF the system D is used as runtime system.
Please could you clarify how we can keep aligned the D environment with the system T and P from the point of view of he deployment if we cannot use the D system as runtime environment ?
    2) Suppose we have three system D (develop), T (test) and P (Pro). Teh JDI is instaleld in D.
We defined the tracks DEVELOP and MAINTENANCE, connected by a 'repair' connection.
If I understood weel the DEVELOP track and the MAINTENANCE track should have the Development and the Test runtime system in exchanged order:
the system indicated as Test for the DEVELOP track has to be indicated as Develop for the Maintenance track.
Then the runtime Production system has to be defined for the DEVELOP track only ?
    Regards

Hi, thanks H. for the info.
I understood the MAINTAIN track and the DEVELOP track MUST to have different runtime systems.
We need at least, (minimun), 3 different systems (development1 and test on the DEVELOP track and development2 on the MAINTEN track) in order to maintain an old relese of SC while a new release is in progress, right ?
It's then responsability of the 'connection repair' defined between the tracks to move the software from the DEVELOP track to the MAINTEN track.
Please, in which moment of the DEVELOP track the software will be copied also to the MAINTEN track ?
New question about the Consolidation phase.
At the beginning we configured ONLY the runtime development for the DEVELOP track. So the work o teh developers was deployed automatically on that system as they activate their activities into the Developer studio.
As traiing we released the activities and we saw them into teh Consolidation tab queue ready for transport (NO Consolidation runtime system was in place).
Anyway we selected them and run the import. The CMS said it gone well.
After that the activities of the developers were into the Assebly tab queue.
My dubt is that after the import we saw our application working fine on the envirnment indicated as runtime develop system.
I need to clarify if this is the correct behaviour:
    A) In this case using only the development runtime system into a track it does not have sense to relase the activities.
The development activity then end at that point and there is nothing else to do into the CMS.
If you need at that point the SCA of your work, to import them elewhere you can find it under the ../Jtrans directory (on condition that you reeased them)
    Right?
    B) It's an bug of the CMS to allow to run the import from the Consolidation tab while there is no consolidation runtime registered ?
Or it do not represents a real, physical import of software but only a logical step needed to move ahead the sw ?
we suppose when we run the import from the Consolidation tab queue we overwritten again the application on the development runtime system, but I'm not sure of that.
