How to Setup Windows TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2

Hi,
Can anyone please let me know, how to install TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2.
I installed Windows Deployment Service to get TFTP (got this info in some forum), but I did not see TFTP Service in the Service Manager.
I am a newbie so plz let me know the steps in details.
Thanks in advance.

James, WDS ships with a TFTP server as part of the suite of services that are required to boot from the network. The information you've posted above is not correct.
Hi Aaron,
Thanks for your clarification. Towards the WDS TFTP Server, we could find the following statement below:
You use the Windows Deployment Services Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server to download the files that are needed to do a network boot using the Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE).
From:
WDS TFTP Server
I understand that the we could select Deployment Server and Transport Server during the WDS setup processing. However, neoraghav would like to install TFTP server from the Server Manger towards the Windows Server 2008 R2. I noticed the statement as followed:
The TFTP client is optional software, and marked as deprecated on Windows Vista® and later versions of the Windows operating system. A TFTP server is no longer provided by Microsoft for similar security issues.
From:
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) Overview
I should make my reply as clear as possible. Sorry for confusion. :-(

James

How to setup the airport extreme for window xp

Sorry, I forgot to mention a few points:
    1) I don't have the Airport Extreme base station;
    2) My PowerBook is connect to the internet thru wired connection with the Built-in Ethernet;
    3) The Airport is turned on, but my PSP's scan cannot locate the PowerBook at all (while it find someone else's network)
So, I wonder if I can just connect my PSP to the built-in Airport in the PowerBook directly. So that I can have internet access on my PSP.

How to setup the SMTP server in Oracle Apps? Is it mandatory to keep the SMTP server on the same host where the Oracle data base is installed? No, it is not mandatory. Also please note that the mails are sent out from concurrent manager mode. Not from the database node.
Also can someone help how we can set up the SMTP server on different host (not the Database server) and we can use the same for Workflow notification mailer.

It depends on the operating system you are using. If you are using *nix then sendmail needs to be configured.

  • How to setup ftp with dreamweaver and windows server 2003

Does anyone know if there is a tutorial/article on settinp up Dreamweaver cs3 to use Windows server 2003 as an FTP server...
any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

I was able to figure out how to setup the ftp connection, connect to my home server, however, whenever i tried to upload the contents of my website to my server, nothing gets uploaded to the site. I tried putting one page at a time, nothing. tried everything, and still no joy. I can see everything on my local server which is a XAMP package, but nothing on my remote server. Do i maybe need to maybe have a WAMP or XAMP on the Windows Server 2003 or that should not matter. This is new to me so i am learning as i go along.
Another thing, i was able to create a subfolder in my c:\www.ftproot folder, i can see that folder on my local machine, i'm just not seeing the files in that folder when i do my 'put' with my files.

recommend you to install it in new hardware as nwdi uses hardware resources efficiently.

  • How to configure a proxy server for Windows Azure Tools in Visual Studio 2013

    Hi Visual Studio/Azure Tools team
I would like to use the Windows Azure tools in Visual Studio 2013 to manage my Azure Web sites (Server Explorer -> Windows Azure -> Web Sites) from within my corporate network which is secured using a proxy server. Unfortunately, I am not able to use
the Windows Azure tools since the required HTTPS connection to windows azure is not going through the default configured proxy. Instead, Visual Studio tries directly to connect to port 443 which is blocked by our corporate firewall (and yes: there is no way
around using our proxy server). Other visual studio features like NuGet, updates, etc. work fine and use the configured proxy server.
So my question: How can I configure visual studio respective its Azure tools to use a proxy server instead of a direct connection? I already tried configuring the proxy server within the file devenv.exe.config but this doesn't show any effect for Windows Azure
    tools.
    Regards
    tschaena

As we have very similar problems I consider the found solution a work arround an existing problem which will not work if corporate FW policy does not allow such changes.
In my mind, any tools in charge of dealing with some sort of FW protocols should deliver the following information, should make it absolute clear how to setup that the request packages are setup rigth at the first time.
    a) proxy server
    b) proxy port
    c) proxy user
    d) proxy users-password
    e) proxy.auth.Preference="BASIC"
And for moste tools (including Visual Studio and AZUR Tools) it is absolut unclear
    a) how to setup that on a per tools basis
    b) OR who inherits this information from whom    i.e. use the same as IE does, what if we use FireFox or any other browsers?
I understand that developers requested to cure such problem areas will often have difficulty to gain all required elemenst used to realy test the solution.
But I can tell you: I loos more time figthing down the FW setups for my clients. WHat I do at home in a sniff, takes ages to be realised by all the various clients on the market where each has to deliver the same sort of information but actually does not,
or has it just somewhere, but not in the vicinity of the demanding user.
Good examples i.e. NetBeans IDE where the Option Menu shows very clearly what information is required to pass through a FW/Proxy; but even there, the hint to start with a BASIC authentication schema is not part of this OPTION menu and must be added a JAVA
environment value. But at least, it works.

  • How to set Essbase Administration Server as Windows service?

Hi,I have installed the Essbase Admin Services 7.1.0.0 Build 261 under Tomcat application server. Now from Start menu I have to select "Start Administration Server". Is there any way to set this option as Windows Service. My system:Windows 2003 SP1,Essbase 7.1.0,Essbase Admin Services 7.1.0.0 Build 261Thanks,Grofaty

This information is in the Install Guide that comes with EAS.Running EAS as a Windows service is an option you can select when you install it. If you did not do that, you can set it up to run as service by doing the following: (From the EAS Install Guide)----------------------------------------Adding Administration Server as a Windows ServiceYou can add Administration Server as a Windows service, even if it was not installed as a Windows service.?To add Administration Server to the list of Windows services:1. From a command prompt, navigate to the following directory: EASPATH\eas\server\bin2. Run the following command: install_service.batAdministration Services installs the Windows service as Hyperion-Essbase_Administration_Server Windows service. A message displayed in the command prompt window indicates that the service is installed.3. Start the Hyperion-Essbase_Administration_Server Windows service. See ?Starting the Administration Server Windows Service? on page 49.The Hyperion-Essbase_Administration_Server Windows service is set to start automatically each time you reboot.

  • Possible to point Windows 2003 server to Windows 2012 R2 WSUS?

    Hello Community,
I have deployed Windows 2012 R2 WSUS in my organisation. I have no issues with Windows 7, 2008 R2 pointing to the WSUS server.
However, I am having issues pointing Windows 2003 R2 and Windows XP to the WSUS server.
On the Windows 2003 client, I have also ran wuauclt /detectnow and the GPO settings is set to:
In Windows 2008 R2, I know that I am getting updates from the WSUS because I can see the option
    below (circled in red)
    Questions:
    1. In Windows 2003, how do I know that I am actually getting the updates from the WSUS and not from the
    internet?
    2. Are Windows 2003/XP clients compatible to pull updates from a Windows 2012 WSUS server?
    3. If Windows 2003/XP clients are able to get updates from Windows 2012 WSUS server, how do I do it? Is
there any 'interface' for me to use?

In Windows 2003, there isnt an interface for administrators to "Check for Windows Updates managed by your system administrator" unlike in Windows 2008. (See screenshot on my first post)
In Windows 2003, I go to Tools > Windows Update and it is pointing me to microsoft's website.
Correct, In Windows 2003 you use the WUAUCLT.EXE command line utility, to perform client actions.
But that has *nothing* to do with how you *configure* the client, nor how you check the client's configuration. That is done exactly the same way regardless of which operating system is being used.
So when I say you know you're getting updates from WSUS by using the same method, that method is NOT looking at the WUApp applet in Control Panel, because that applet does NOT tell you that the client is getting updates from WSUS. It merely tells you that
some policy is in place that presumably tells the client to get updates from a WSUS server.
If you *really* want to know.... check the appropriate registry keys, or read the WindowsUpdate.log.... and that's done exactly the same way on every operating system.

  • How to setup Mobile Access Server

    Hi,
I am trying to setup Mobile Access Server on my Mac Mini Server. The setup I have is a small network behind a Airport Extreme. I would like to give all users access to services using Mobile Access Server and was hoping initial setup was going to take care of that....no such luck.
What do I fill in for the local servers? How do I access this service from the outside the lan? How do I need to configure my Airport (with the other services, it happened almost automatically from the security pane).
    Thanks,
    Ian

    Hi,
In the field for local server you just type in the local dns name for your calendar server, mail server etc... Also select which port you want publish externally and the the correct port your service is actually using on your lan (Selected under advanced tab). Make sure your mobile access server can resolv your hostnames correctly. It should point to an local ip. If an nslookup shows your public ip, you have to correct your local dns server (This is often called split dns configuration.)
To access this from outside your LAN you have setup NAT and permit the port you have configure your mobile access server to be the incomming port. How exactly you do that on the airport I am not sure, but I am sure it is explained in the user manual for the airport.
I found this video about the mobile access server on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VRgl2bncZU
    Hope this helps.
