How to share images between computers
I am trying to work out if it is possible to share some of my images between my computers.
I have currently put all the images I want to work on in a separate collection on my main mac, I have keyworded, but not finished all editing.
What I would like to do is transfer to my mobile hdd and edit on my laptop and then once finished transfer back to my main mac.
I basically want to work on a photo book without someone else seeing what I am doing :-)
Is this possible at all?
Yes, I do this all the time.
On your main computer, select those files you want to be in the book.
Export this group of photos using the "Export as Catalog" function under File.
Move that exported catalog to the laptop.
Build your book.
When you are finished, move the laptop catalog back to your main computer and use the "Import from another Catalog" function under File to reintegrate your changes back into your master catalog.

How to share files between computers and TC
What is the best way to share content/files between computers (iMac and MacBook Pro)?
I thought about using Time Capsule for this...is this NOT wise?
ThanksWhat is the best way to share content/files between computers (iMac and MacBook Pro)?
The simplest way to do this would be to enable File Sharing on both Macs.
On each Mac....
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Sharing
Enter a check mark next to File Sharing
Now when you open the Finder or Macintosh HD, you will see the "other" Mac and you will be able to access files/folders, etc. on the other computer.
I thought about using Time Capsule for this...is this NOT wise?
The Time Capsule was designed to work with the Time Machine application to back up your Mac(s). As such, the TC will make a complete copy of each Mac on the first backup and backup any changes after that to keep a complete timeline of each Macs files. Each computer normally will only be able to access the backups for that given computer.
While it is possible to store normal files or folders on the Time Capsule disk, this is not generally recommended as there will eventually be a struggle between Time Machine and the files on the disk as the drive begins to fill up. The other thing to keep in mind is that access to the drive for "normal" files will be quite slow. -
How do I share files between computers (mac's) on the same wireless network?
How do I share files between computers (mac's) on the same wireless network?
Turn on File Sharing in System Preferences - Sharing, then you should be able to see them in the other Macs' Finder sidebars (under Shared). Click on them, click Connect As, and log in with the user credentials you're sharing from.

It seems that the new version of iPhoto will no longer share photos between computers on the same network. Can anyone confirm this?

I have "automatically create previews" in the preferences UNCHECKED. Why is Aperture creating previews? For the screen image?
You might also need to turn Preview generation off for any existing Projects. Select the Project in the Projects pane and use the cog button at the top of the pane to uncheck 'Maintain Previews For Project'.

I tried to configure 2 windows users accounts using a single library per the instructions in HT1203. My iTunes library is on an external drive. I cannot get this to work. Any suggestions?
To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support article linked below.

There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions. -

i have tried this 6+ times to "How to share music between different accounts on a single computer" on my wifes mac and can not get it to work!! On my PC no problem but on the MAC it will not work, follow the instructions to the T but no go????
It is almost as if the program does not exist on my computer. If I search for it, the only thing that comes up is the installer. I cannot find it anywhere despite the fact I have installed it numerous times, uninstalled it and conducted a fresh install, and the Adobe website checks says that it is installed.

Sync both devices to the same iTunes Library on your computer. Or just re-download iTunes Store purchased music from the Purchased tab in iTunes using the same AppleID.

Share catalogue between computers
I need some advice for how to arrange my Elements catalogue when I have several computers.
How should I set up Photoshop Elements 7?
Alt1. I have a desktop with enough harddisk space for the whole catalogue (which is now on a network disk (server)), problem is I almost never use the desktop, only the laptops) (I don't dare the setup any more as I've had major problems with it )
Alt2. I have 2 laptops with not enough room for the pics, but I can perhaps put them on an external drive and share them between the different computers - is that risky?
My consern is that I might have problems accessing the pics if they are corrupted again, if sharing between computers, but on the other hand I want easy access to them as well.
What setup would you advice?
How do I most safely move the catalogue from the server to the computer/drive I will use?
Thanks in advance

but, reading a section of OSX yosemite(under compatibility) it is said that now we can easily share files between pc and mac.
So please suggest me easier way that how can i share files between macs and pc as my friends uses pc and in future i really want to share my data with them without any hustle and i dont wanna loose my data in futureYou can format the HDD to a common one like ExFAT or Fat32 but a reformat will delete all data off of the HDD.
Your other option is to use a third party software such as Paragon or Tuxera that will allow you to write to a NFTS formatted HDD.
