How to share under "program files"

I haven't been able to successfully share anything under my "program files" folder with other computers on my home network. I can share other folders that I create, but nothing under "program files". All I get is the option for "advanced sharing", which doesn't help because it requires me to select users and such. I need to be able to let anyone on my home network see the folders/files without having to login as a specific user.

Right-click Program Files > Properties > Sharing Tab > Advanced Sharing > Share this folder > Apply, OK > Close.
To unconditionally share, you have to change the security permissions to allow Everyone access. Right-click Program Files > Properties > Security Tab > Edit > Add and type ‘Everyone’ (not the quotes) into the box and OK. Tick the boxes next to
the permissions you want to allow (e.g. Read or Write, etc.) then Apply > OK, etc. You may see some screens coming up with message 'An error occurred while applying ……..'. This is not unusual and can be ignored by clicking Continue.
Well, Mr. BurrWalnut..
You need to re-address this problem, that may have worked for Win7 when it first came out, but all I can see is the above hasn't worked since XP....!!!

This article contains the only thing that worked for me.  I also had to sign out of iCloud and uninstall it.  Then I had to delete all files and folders from all of those applications that were under Program Files, Program Files x86, Program Data and Users.  My iPhone 4 will now sync with iTunes both in its USB-connected  mini dock and over Wi-Fi.  It's unfortunate (negligent programming on the part of Apple?) that the upgrade to iTunes 11 did not remove all of those files as part of the upgrade process.

I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? I'm sure I will spend weeks or months trying to get a credit out of these incompetent idiots.

  • Jdk Won't Appear under Program Files

I recently grabbed "Java Programming 24-hour Trainer" and began learning Java, and I encountered a problem that I have no clue how to fix.
I downloaded the latest Java Developer Kit, and when I had it installed, I couldn't locate the JDK Bin under Program Files to link up with the Command Prompt to emulate the "HelloWorld" script. Is there a solution to this?

    Hi,
When you had installed jdk in drive, suppose its shows as below

  • How are the c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_ directories locked down?

    Hi,
    Even as an administrator on the DPM server, I cannot drill down into subdirectories of c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_ . . For example: c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_9fd89f55-92d7-469b-9196-c7d5e0d07943\2401168f-0a90-46ff-b719-9aa6bf817c5f\Full\.
I get access is denied.  I think this is by design, that DPM is designed to only allow access to these files through the interface.
    Is that true?
Would there be ANY way for someone to gain access to these files, either from the DPM server itself, or from <DPMServer>\c$?
    Thanks,
    Casie

    Hi,
In most cases you can access them from an administrative command prompt.  If you still get access denied you perform the following:
    1)      Download psexec.exe from
    www.sysinternals.com
    2)      Run PSEXEC -s cmd.exe   (this will switch window to system context)
    3)      Afterwards - type WHOAMI it should return:
                      nt authority\system
    4)  Now CD to the replica volume under program files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\replica\...

  • ODI - Multi development environment how to share the JAR files

    Hi,
For some of our functionality, existing KM not sufficient so we created with our own KM and we have called some jave code which we created and place inside lib directory of ODI as a JAR file. there are four people in the development work. so we have four development environment(all are complete installation, i.e while installing we choosing Complete Option).
One of our developer created the our own KM and he placed the jar file in his own Dev environment's lib Directory. Since four Dev environment shares the some work rep we could see the new KM and all the ODI object in all the dev env. but if we run the the ODI interface which use the new KM from other Dev environment where we dint place the jar we are getting Error.
if we keep the jar file in all the other three Dev environment's LIB directory then respective interface working.
here my doubt,   is there any other way to share the JAR file to all the Environment without copying into everywhere?
    Thanks
    Knidhi

Thanks you verymuch Cezar and Ratish, now almost i got the answer for my question.
i installed ODI Server into separate machine. it has folder structure as follows
Directory: D:/ODIServer/oracledi/ has the following subfolder
    1.bin 2.drivers 3.lib 4.tools.
here i need to keep my Jar files under the lib folder. am i right?
and bin directory contains only Agent related batch files. (agent.bat, agentscheduler.bat,agentservice.bat,agentstop.bat,agentstart.bat,agentweb.bat and jython.bat and respective .sh files)
here dont know how to precede the following things
    1. how to configure the Master and Work Repository information with ODI Server?(MR and WR i already created with the help of one the ODI Client)
    2. how to configure the Client machine to Server?
    3. Since ODI Server not having the Topology, how to create the Agent? do i need to use any one of the ODI Client for this task?

  • How to share a GB file between different computers (using dropbox).

Me and a friend are trying to share Garageband '09 files using a shared folder with dropbox. He saves a .band file and then saves it to the shared folder. After it loads on my side I open it, but it is empty. Does GB even have this capability? Can it save a file with no dependencies? I do not want to export to mp3 or other format. I am trying to share the actual GB file. I don't want to zip or archive at all. We have the space and the forum for sharing, I just need to know how to save it properly in GB, if GB even has this capability. If not, does Logic Express?

You should be able to save the file with no (external) dependencies and share the actual GB file. The .band file is actually a collection of components.
Why not Save As Archive and Zip it? It might travel better when zipped. It can be unzipped and reconstituted upon receipt.

  • How to share ABAP programs ??

    Hi,
I want to share a program with my friend. The simplest way will be to copy in a text editor and send as email.
Does SAP provide any emailing facility/ tool that can help me in transferring the abap program(s) so that the person can simply do an upload kind of task and get the programs into his SAP system ??
    thanks

SAP does not have any utility to send code via e-mail. You need to download code from SE38 using menu path (Utilities\More utilities\Upload.Download\Download) as text file and send it using e-mail.
If you have many programs to send then you can create a transport request and ask your basis team to give you the transport files. Your friend can ask his basis people to import that transport into his SAP system.

  • How do I find program files on my pro?

I need to access the program file for my steam account because it is not finding the servers.  Steam suggest that I set my own launch options, but I cannot find where the program file is for steam.

I need to find how to execute the file differently.  These are the instructions on steam, but they are for pc
    Set Steam Launch Options
Navigate to your Steam installation (by default this is located at C:\Program Files\Steam)
Right-click on Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the black and white Steam logo) and select Create Shortcut
Right-click on the new shortcut and go to Properties
    Select the Shortcut tab
In the Target: field add the launch options which you would like to use after the Steam.exe location (make sure to separate all launch options with a space - For example, " -launchoption1 -launchoption2")
Click Apply and then OK to close the Properties window

  • How to share EFS encrypted files over a network (\\workstation\c$\encrypted-file.txt)

    Hello,
we decided to theft-protect our workstations by using EFS encryption on some important documents and directories.
Just to be sure: I hope that data will not be readable in the case that someone physically gains access to the disk or computer with encrypted data and does not know user's name & password to log in or does not have the right encryption certificate with
private key. Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
All workstations are Windows 7 Professional joined to the domain controlled by Windows 2008R2 DC. We are a bit lazy, so we have generated a local, self-signed EFS certificate on a single workstation and installed this (the same) certificate on all workstations.
Now, we are able to share EFS encrypted files for example via a NTFS formatted flash drive.
Later, we have setup a Certificate authority (we can potentially issue new EFS personal, domain-based certificates that are published in AD), and established DRA as well (published DRA via a Group Policy).
All logged-in users have the same (non-domain) certificate installed in their "My User Account" certificate store, cipher /y command shows the same thumbprint value.
However, we would like to be able access files remotely, in a "lazy" way using an administrative share like
\\workstation\c$\users\bob\document.txt. We all are Domain Admins, so NTFS and SMB privileges should be OK, unencrypted files are accessible OK.
I have tried to issue a new certificates via the Cert Authority, putting them into "Trusted People" container etc., adding them to the "Users who can access this file:" list on the encrypted file and nothing worked.
So is it possible to share EFS encrypted files over a workstation's share (i.e.
    \\workstation\something)?
What should I do to get it working? :-)
    Thank you for any ideas.
    Jan

OK, I understand that. However, I have read this article
    Using Encryption File System (Technet)
and there is stated "Remote EFS operations on files stored on network file shares are possible in Windows 2000 or later domain environments only. Domain users can remotely encrypt or decrypt files,
but this capability is not enabled by default"
There are notes about computer trust etc., so I am seeking for someone who would help me a little bit with this.
Just imagine the simplest possible "single-user" case: there are two Win7 computers A, B joined into the domain and just single user BOB. Bob uses those two computers and need to access own documents like
    \\A\DocumentsA or
\\B\DocumentsB. Standard setup - folder sharing: everything is working fine, share and NTFS permissions are set up, BOB can work with his own "remote" documents from both computers (\\A\DocumentsA from computer B and
    vice versa).
BOB decides to encrypt his documents. So BOB logs in computer A, starts "Manage file encryption certificates Wizard", gets an EFS Certificate from CA and encrypts his c:\Documents (shared as
\\A\DocumentsA). I assume the EFS certificate is stored on computer A in BOB's local profile, therefore I ask:
Now, BOB moves to the computer B and logs on.
Q1: Will be \\A\DocumentsA accessible for BOB from B?
Q2: If not, what should do now? Should I do something in AD for computer accounts (A and/or B) ?
    Thank you.

  • Windows users heads-up: If you installed plug-ins under \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightro

The SDK documentation has always recommended that you install plug-ins in the App Data folder:
In Windows XP, "C:\Documents and Users\username\Application
    Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
    In Windows Vista, "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
If you've followed this advice, you can stop reading this message. Nothing will change for you.
It has always been possible, though not documented or recommended, to install plug-ins in the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2\Modules\".
When we release the final of version 2.3, this path will be changing to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.3\Modules\" and we will not be moving files from the old location to the new.
You will either need to move those files manually, or (better yet) move them to the App Data folder instead.
Mac users: We're not planning any change to the install paths on the Mac for 2.3, but this is a good opportunity for you to verify that you are installing your plug-ins in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules, as recommended, and not inside the Lightroom package in the /Applications folder.

  • How to share TV series files

We have 2 account users, 1 pc. We share music and apps in the public folder, but not sure where to place TV series files so we can share. There is no 'TV Series' folder in the Public folder.

From what you say, I suspect you're letting others on your network connect by giving them your user name and password. This isn't recommended as it gives them full access to your computer.
Other network users can connect to your mac as a guest (without entering a password). This gives them access only to your Public folder as read-only. They can send files to you by putting them into your drop box (a write-only folder) - located in your Public Folder.
You can also change the permissions of files or folders in your Public folder by choosing 'Get Info' from the file menu, clicking where it says 'details' under 'Ownership and Permissions', then choosing from the 'others' menu. This lets you control what access the guest users have to the file or folder.

I tried Dropbox and file was too large. Google drive wouldn't accept the file. Skydrive won't work.

    Hi there
    You said:
..I saved on a shared portal but he is not able to open. Is there another method I am missing???
Hopefully you didn't simply expect him to open the file and work on it directly from the location. Typically you must copy from the shared location to your local hard drive, then begin making edits. Assuming, of course, that both of you have identical versions of Captivate.
You might consider using Adobe's Acrobat.com to provide the remote store and forward location. However, it's limited to 100 megs for any given file.

  • How to Open the FailedFilesLog.txt File (statement), and How to Increase the 100 File Limit (question)

It took us a while to figure this out, so I'm posting this in case it's helpful for someone out there. Plus, I have a question...
DPM gave the following error for one of our file servers:
Description: The replica of Volume D:\ on <servername> is inconsistent with the protected data source. Number of files skipped for synchronization due to errors has exceeded the maximum allowed limit of 100 files on this data
source (ID 32538 Details: Internal error code: 0x809909FE)
Recommended action: Review the failure errors for individual files from the log file
\\?\Volume{8492c150-f195-11de-a186-001cc4ef89a0}\B1E9D373-2C03-464E-A472-99BC93DB1E2A\FailedFilesLog.txt and take appropriate action. If some files fail consistently, you can exclude the folders containing these files by modifying the protection group or
moving the files to another location.
So, how do you actually open the FailedFilesLog.txt file shown in this DPM alert? What is this path referring to? Well, this is the mount point for the protected server's replica volume on the DPM server, which is mounted under \Program
Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\servername\File System. Here you'll see the mount points for all of the server's protected volumes. However, if you try to open one of these mounted volumes
in Windows Explorer, you'll get Access Denied, even if you have administrator rights. (If someone knows of a way around this, please let me know). As a workaround, you can access this mounted volume in an elevated
    command prompt. Steps:
    Open an Administrator Command Prompt
    Type mountvol <AnyAvailableDriveLetter>: \\?\Volume{VolumeGUID}
Example:  mountvol m: \\?\Volume{8492c150-f195-11de-a186-001cc4ef89a0}   Note that we're only using the first part of the path to the FailedFilesLog.txt
file given in the DPM alert, starting from \\? and ending after the
    } character.
Next, type m: to change to the newly mounted m: drive.
Then type cd B1E9D373-2C03-464E-A472-99BC93DB1E2A   This is actually a folder name so we're just going into this folder.
Finally type dir and you should see the FailedFilesLog.txt file. This file can be copied to another location where it's easier to use (i.e. in Windows Explorer).
Be sure to unmount this volume when you're done by typing mountvol m: /d in the command prompt. (Mountvol reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772586(WS.10).aspx.)
What a pain, eh? But at least by reviewing the FailedFilesLog.txt file you can determine which files or folders caused the sync to fail and thus take action accordingly.
Now, here's my question: Where is that registry key that lets me adjust the limit of 100 files that DPM allows to be skipped before it fails the replica? Hopefully someone out there will tell me. I know this can be done because Kapil Malhotra
    said so in this post:
    http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.dataprotectionmanager/browse_thread/thread/a179fa30fb50c9b0/e9a348f2a9386063?lnk=raot.
Also, does anyone know what the internal error code 0x809909FE means in this alert? Knowing this my help us determine what caused these files to fail. Interestingly, in the FailedFilesLog.txt file, it gave a different error code next to each failed file:
    0x80070002.
    -Taylorbox

Thanks for responding, Fahd. So, just to be sure...
Do I add this registry key to the DPM server or to the protected servers (or both)?
In either case, the ContinueOnFailure key does not currently exist. So, I must create this key and the MaxFailedFiles DWORD value
    manually, right?
Does the server in which I create this regkey have to be restarted for it to take affect?
Can the DPM alert for the 0x809909FE error event (for exceeding the limit of 100 failures) please be adjusted to provide a path to the FailedFilesLog.txt file
that actually works if you click on it?
Any ideas on why the 0x80070002 "File not found" error happened? The files on the server were simply created and then deleted. Why would such file activity lead to this error?
    Thanks,
    -Taylorbox
