How to shift capture time of multiple photos by a long timeframe?

Is there a way to shift the capture time (in EXIT) of multiple files by a long time frame?
When you select photos and go to Metadata - Edit Capture Time, you can shift the capture time in the increments of hours.. I need to shift the capture time of some photos by years.. Is this possible at all within LR?

Most selected? What do you mean? You mean the photo with the earliest capture time?

  • How to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time?

    Hi guys,
For some reason I'm trying to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time.
I know that there is "Edit Capture Time" feature under Metadata.
But when I try to edit multiple photos, it says that "Modify the capture time stored in the selected photos by entering the correct time adjustment for the photo displayed to the left. Other photos (but not vidieos) will be adjusted by the same amount of time". And it really does.
    For example,
    If A file's capture time is 1/11/2011
    B file's capture time is 1/11/2012
    C file's capture time is 1/11/2013
I would like to change their capture time to 1/11/2014. All the three files.
But the current "Edit Capture Time" feature of Lightroom just adds three years to each file like this:
    A file's capture time -> 1/11/2014
    B file -> 1/11/2015
    C file -> 1/11/2016
So their capture times remain as different ones. And this is not I want...
    What should I do?
I've googled a lot and tried several programs other than lightroom as well, but the "Capture time" recognized by lightroom could not be changed by other programs.
I would greatly appreciate your help.

Sorry - I didn't see where you'd mentioned that you'd chosen the correct option, so I thought best to rule that out first.
Anyway, it sounds like a bug, which can be reported here:

In the mean time, you can use exiftool, or try your luck with the exif-write function of the exif-meta plugin, e.g.:
Note: if you use exiftool, you need to save metadata first, make the change, then read metadata in Lightroom, otherwise capture-time changes will be ignored by Lr.

  • How do I email folders and multiple photos? I get an error in server message very time.

How do I email folders or multiple photos? I get a server error message whenever I attempt to do this. Thank you!

Not sure what the error message is you're getting, but it's probably smartest to compress a folder, or its contents, or multiple files into a single file, then send it.
In Finder, select the files/folder(s) you want to send. Right-click (or ctrl-click) the group, then choose "Compress...". Once done, you'll find a file "Archive.zip" nearby, or "foldername.zip". You can rename it, but then attach it to the mail you're sending. It is safe to assume that the recipient will be able to unzip it.
Note that mail servers often have size limits for attachments, eventually both your outgoing mail server as well as the recipient's incoming server, and one limit might be tighter than the other. But then the error message should be telling you...

  • How to print date & time stamp on photos?

How to print date & time stamp on photos?

    Three methods:
File>process multiple files>labels. Be sure to uncheck "same as source", or the originals will be overwritten. It is best to work on duplicate files, esp. while learning.
Use the horizontal or vertical type tool to add the information manually to each picture file
If the same information is to be applied to several pictures, e.g. a copyright notice, use  of a brush made in PSE is very efficient

How do I add time stamp to photo in photoshop? I have saved photos from a camera phone to the computer. They still have the META data on them (aka the date and time from when the picture was taken). How do I put them on there?

  • Adjust Time of Multiple Photos By Fixed Amount

Is there any way to adjust the time of multiple photos in an album by a fixed amount? In other words, I want to select multiple photos within an album and have the time of all these photos incremented by a fixed number of hours. I looked at the “Batch Change” menu item, but it doesn’t provide the capability that I am looking for.
The motivation for my question is that the album contains some pictures taken with a camera and some with my iPhone. The iPhone had the correct time of day, but the camera was set to the wrong time of day, because I didn’t update the camera’s time for a time zone change.

Yes.  Try the Photos ➙ Adjust Time and Date menu option:
That should do what you want.

  • How to set capture time?

Am I missing something obvious, or is there indeed no way to set the capture time of a photo?  Invoking
    photo:setRawMetadata ("dateTimeOriginal", LrDate.currentTime ())
    results in the error:
    LrPhoto:setRawMetadata: unknown metadata key "dateTimeOriginal"
(The documentation doesn't list "dateTimeOriginal", but I tried it anyway.)
If true, this seems like a pretty big omission?

Chet - no way in LR that I know of at this point.  You also can't set the model and make of the camera which all three would come in handy for scanned images from my epson scanner.  I have not found a work-around other than creating an Task that iterates through the images you select and then calls an external program like Exiftool to set the date.  For the new date to be effective you have to import the sidecar file (or the xmp data inside the DNG).  This of course means you have to be sure to save the metadata (Ctrl-S) before running the routine to avoid overwriting develop and other metadata changes you have made.

  • How to change capture time?

I had wrong year setting om my camera. Now all shots are 2010 and not in 2012. I tried to change them including check the write settings into raw-files.
The creation date are still 2010 and wrong, when I look at files in the finder.
second: how to move the pictures from the wrong 2010 folder to the 2012?
Thanks for any help of this very difficult and irritating issue.

This link directly takes you through step by step directions:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS57264460-DC72-4a1f-A665-1E90907A9FFD.html
With one or more photos selected in the Grid view, or with a single photo selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, do one of the following:
Choose Metadata > Edit Capture Time.
In the Metadata panel with EXIF information displayed, click the arrow in the Date Time field.
In the Edit Capture Time dialog box, select the type of adjustment:
Adjust To A Specified Date And Time Changes the capture time to the date and time you specify.
Shift By Set Number Of Hours (Time Zone Adjust) Changes the capture time by the number of hours you add to or subtract from the original time.
Change To File Creation Date For Each Image Changes the capture time in the camera EXIF data to the file creation date. If you select this option, skip step 3.
In the New Time area of the dialog box, do one of the following:
If you selected Adjust To A Specified Date And Time, type a new date and time in the Corrected Time text box. You can also select the date and time values and then use the Up or Down Arrow buttons to increase or decrease the values.
If you selected Shift By Set Number Of Hours, choose a value from the pop-up menu to adjust the time forward or back.
Important: If more than one photo is selected in the Grid view, Lightroom changes the capture time for the active photo by the specified adjustment. (The active photo is previewed in the Edit Capture Time dialog box.) Other photos in the selection are adjusted by the same amount of time. If more than one photo is selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, the capture time is changed only on the active photo.
(Optional) To revert the capture time back to the original, select the photos in the Grid view or the Filmstrip and choose Metadata > Revert Capture Time To Original.

  • PTP camera - how to retain date/time stamp on photos [Gnome]

I have a USB PTP Camera that comes up in Nautilus under "gphoto2://[usb:001,007]/DCIM"  I can copy/paste the photos off the thing to ~ but the date/time stamp gets changed to the present.  How can I copy them over retaining the original date/time stamp?

By using the exif info I suppose.
    http://linux.die.net/man/1/exiv2
    -t
Set the file timestamp according to the Exif create timestamp in addition to renaming the file (overrides -k). This option is only used with the 'rename' action.

  • How to make sense of the multiple photo subfolders in my iphone?

I used to manually copy and paste newly taken photos from my iphone into my computer. Ever since I bought iphone 6, there is suddenly an onslaught of subfolders created, with seemingly no patterns how the photos and videos are sorted. I am now unable to download the photos from the iphone to my computer because i cannot find the most recent pictures taken. See screenshot of the multiple folders in my phone!
help?!  On the related note, how does sync photos work? will that help solve my problem?
    Thank you in advance

thank  you for the link. it is still quite confusing. Essentially, I am wondering how to continue downloading pictures/videos from the iphone to the computer, without duplicating those that already exist in my computer.
Yes, because of the multiple subfolders in the iphone i do not know how to find the latest pictures and cannot copy and paste from my iphone to my computer. Any insights on how the subfolders are sorting my pictures will be greatly appreciated.

  • How to add IPTC data to multiple photos w/o overwriting other data?

I need to see if there's a way to add IPTC data to one or more fields to mulitple photos without disturbing the other fields' data that's already there. For example, I've keyworded & captioned my images, but now would like to add the City or the Country to all the shots, or a group of shots.
Conventional Lift & Stamp will override the keyword & caption field info on the stamped images, which I don't want. How to I lift & stamp other select fields? I sure don't want to have to type in the city or country on hundreds/thousands of images!
    Randy
    Power Mac G5, dual 2.5, 2.5 gb   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Thanks for the reply.
In the Lift & Stamp HUD, under the IPTC heading,
there's no way to de-select the sub-categories of
Caption & Kepyword, leaving just State (or other
fields which don't seem to be even present). One can
de-select the major categories of Keywords, Caption,
IPTC, etc. but not the subcategories. This is the
problem I'm running into -- no way to just add
    additional data in select fields.
    Unless I'm missing something.
Indeed! Aperture does not make this at all obvious, but with any line highlighted in the Lift & Stamp HUD just hit the "delete" key and that line is gone. If you delete a category (line with a checkbox) the whole category goes, if you expand a category you can delete individual lines, whatever you like. Also very handy for adjustment stamping when you don't want to stamp a clone job, just white balance.
It remembers what you have removed until you do another Lift.

  • How to automatically decrease time of many photos in the album?

I have 2 sets of photos from 2 different cameras (600 photos in total) which I want to combine and arrange by date&time. The problem is that time in second camera was set 4 hours ahead than in my camera. For example photo from my camera has time stamp 18:47 while the photo of the same moment from 2nd camera has time stamp 22:47.
I want to do the following, automatically decrease time for photos from 2nd camera by 4 hours from the original time in the file. Doing it for 300 photos is a mess. Is there any way to do it automatically in iPhoto + Automator or some other Mac tool?
    Thanks

You can simply create a Smart Album of the pics from Camera 2
    File -> New Smart Album
Camera Model -> Is - > Name of Camera
This finds all the files with the wrong time.
Select them all (Command -a) then go Photos -> Adjust Date and Time

  • Canon S100 Photo Capture Time Correct, but Video Capture Time Is Wrong

I have a Canon S100 and just started importing photos and video into my LR 4.3 catalog. I convert RAW to DNG, and the Capture Time on the photos in LR is correct. However, the video Capture Time is shifted forward exactly 8 hours. I know how to correct the video Capture Time, but is there anything I can do to stop this from happening in the first place?
I looked at what the metadata looks like in Bridge.
    PHOTO:
Date Created = Correct Capture Time
Date File Modified = The time I imported the file into LR.
    VIDEO:
Date Created = Capture Time + 8 hours
Date File Modified = Correct Capture Time
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

In general, LR doesn't know how to read video metadata.  It uses the file's date-modified (as set by the operating system) for filtering, sorting, and pre-populating the Metadata > Edit Capture Time dialog, but it uses the file's date-created (as set by the operating system) to display in the grid view.
So you might look for a file utility that lets you set the file's date-created to be the same as the file's date-modified (note that on Windows, at least, copying a file changes the date-created but preserves the date-modified).
