How to shorten Multitrack time length

I have a song that's 3:30 long, but for whatever reason, in multitrack view, the song extends to almost 20 minutes...how can I get rid of those extra 16+minutes of space?...seems this may be why my computer crashes frequently during playback/editing of this song...I'm assuming because of the length of this session...I've tried several "delete" options, but to no avail...

Runaway, I still don't think you understand. Maybe I'm just not explaining it right, so try this.
Open up a session, it could even be a blank session, but it's easier to understand it there's at least 1 wave file on it...in Multitrack view, left click anywhere on the session and hold the mouse, then move the mouse to the right...when to get all the way to the right end of the screen, keep going, you'll see the session tracks with no information on them keep getting longer and longer...as this happens, your wave tracks begin to disappear into the left side of the screen, because more and more of the blank session is now fitting on the screen.
Now, if you save the session after adding all that extra space after all the wave files, there doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of it after you bring the session back up.
I hope this makes more sense...

Actually I have this requirement for MAC OS 10.5. With the code you provided, I got the output as "6289375". When I changed the URL to point to my file (file:///Users/VPKVL/Desktop/MyRecord/tempAudio.wav), I am getting the below mentioned Exception:

  • Imovie 10.0.4 crashes after adjusting 2nd photo time length

After I try to adjust the photo time length imovie 10.0.4 gets the spinning beach ball and imovie says it is not responding, so I have to force quit and reopen.  I finished editing the rest of the video portions of the project with no problems until I attempted to shorten the time length of my photo.  The first photo would adjust fine but after adjusting the second photo it gives the spinning beach ball.  It does this every time after the second photo.  Macbook 10.9.4

Earlier this week Apple released an update to iMovie that has fixed this for a lot of people. Are you running version 9.0.7? You can update to it by running Software Update or checking the Updates tab in the Mac App Store. If it's still crashing after the update, this seems to be doing the trick for a bunch of people: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4319

  • Still Frames Time Length

I am making a slideshow thing on iMovie and I have all the pictures in it and in order and have quotes popping up in between them, while music is playing! The majority of the pictures last for around 5 seconds so you can see the pictures, but a lot of them are one second and you cannot even see the picture or read the quotes! I cannot get them to stay on the screen for longer. I've tried moving the time cursor to make them longer, but it moves then reverts back to its original position! Can anyone help me figure out how to make the time length longer on the pictures? Thanks!

Sometimes permissions and preferences can get corrupted. Whenever iMovie starts acting funny, a common maintenance procedure is to do the following: Delete preferences by closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the House icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility App on your Mac. Open the Disk Utilities window and select the Mac hard drive icon at the top of the side pane at the left. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. When you have repaired permissions and deleted preferences, restart your computer and launch iMovie. iMovie will replace the .plist file that you deleted. Be sure also that you have sufficient free disk space on your hard drive for iMovie to function correctly. 25GB often is recommended by users of this forum. After doing all of the above, relaunch iMovie and see whether you still have the problem.

  • How do I extend the length of time my iphone rings before voicemail cuts in? If I need to use a password, how do I access that on my iphone? I'm a new user.

HELP!! My voicemail cuts in after just 15 seconds of ringing, which is rarely long enough for me to answer it. How do I increase the length of time it rings? Can I choose not to have voicemail at all, so my phone can just continue ringing until I answer?
If I need to enter a voicemail password or key, can you tell me step by step because I can't see how to do anything except retrieve and delete voicemail msgs. I'm on O2-UK, if that makes any difference at all. Thank you

If my response has been either helpful or correct, could you indicate that marking which it is in order that others searching for a similar solution can find find this easily.

My backup to Time Capsule is taking over 4 million days. How can I shorten the time? I am not able to connect through ethernet. How do I fix this?
Not only that but my Mac Pro keep running and does not stop, my Address book has a blue light under it but wont open, the light for my monitor in the bottom right corner wont turn on or off. Please need help...

It sounds like there is an issue with the Mac itself.
Use the verify disk A5 in troubleshooting.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Even if you cannot connect by ethernet, at current location.. you can simply disconnect the TC from the network and bring it to the Mac and plug it in by ethernet. The TC can be reset if you haven't got a suitable current setup (save previous setup before you change it) and run just as backup device.. do the backup and then return it to the network.
If this is just a standard incremental backup.. then something has broken. The issue is not the TC pe se but failure in hardware somewhere.

  • How do you shorten the time on the timeline?

I need to know how to shorten the timeline to fit into what I want to create. Most of what I make is 30 seconds long and I am tired of messing with the too long timeline

The timeline is only as long as the frames you populate it with. There's space to go beyond that, but if there's nothing in it, it's not "there."
To make your timeline exactly 480 frames long:
Use the frame number box to go to frame 480, scroll until 480 is in view (if you already have content at or beyond 480, you can use the "current frame" box, between the "Modify Markers" button and the "Frame rate" box at the bottom of the timeline to go straight there).
Select frame 480 in all layers by shift-clicking or clicking and dragging
If you don't have content out to and beyond 480, press F5 to extend all the layers
If you do have content out beyond 480, press F7 to insert an empty keyframe in all the layers. One at a time, double-click the empty frames beyond 480 in each layer. Press shift-F5 to delete the excess empty frames.

    Hi 40123157,
You are using the module in an appropriate way, and there is no easy way to improve the loop iteration time beyond what you have done. Here are my suggestions:
    1) i2c commands do take a long time. In your application, it may speed up if you only execute Move Motors only when the motor speed has changed.
    2) For this particular example, you are not using the output of Motor Status. If this VI doesn't need to execute it may be removed.
    3) If you must speed up execution beyond this, as an advanced user of LabVIEW, you can create a copy of the Move Motors VI and modify it as you choose. All you have to do for the 'DC Motors' input is use cluster to array on the cluster, as shown below. I think you can speed it up by executing all setup before the loop (set connection type and setup sensor), and removing calculate power value if you're only sending values between -100 and 100.
    4) Drawing to the screen may be slowing you down here.

  • How to shorten the combobox filling time - 12 seconds

I have a user defined form with 20 comboboxes whose valid values are filled from different tables via Recordset. Recordset queries are quite simple, they just list the code and description of the values in each table.
But it takes approximately 12 seconds (!!) before all these valid values are filled and form is ready to use (navigate the records etc.)
Is there any practical solution to shorten this time ?

<i>I fill these 20 comboboxes programmatically, their content have to be dynamic since I get these values from other tables which are updated by end user. (I add other static valid values directly in XML file of the form.)
Each combo is filled with approximately 4-5 values now , but it takes 12 seconds till the form is ready to navigate records.
It makes no sense to wait so long for just one form, but it's a must to fill these combos dynamically.</i>
    <b>Thanks Bill, I'll try your solution.</b>

  • How do I convert time lapse still images into a video in Premire Elements 13?

I have 250 images taken at 15 second intervals that I want to convert to a video. I am not having any luck finding how to get elements to put the single pictures together. • Odd Time Lengths Displayed In iTunes 9?

Curious question: I recently got a new laptop (details displayed at the bottom) and I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (9.1.1). When I go to add songs and then later on, I edit the silence out of them, the total time of the song is displayed as the original length instead of the fixed length.
Example: I get a song that's 4:16. I take the silence out at the end with Adobe Audition 3.0 and get the song to be 4:11. However, the song's still shown as 4:16 on iTunes but plays correctly 'til 4:11. Plus, it makes that length show like that on my iPod too (iPod Classic). What's up with this?
As the length was getting me annoyed, I tried something different: Editing the silence out and THEN adding the songs to iTunes. It begins to show the correct total time length but sometimes, randomly, I won't even do anything to the song and it'll show a different time length (like it really added seconds onto it or something). For example, I got this song (original length was about 4:34), cut the silence out to 4:33, added it and it would show 4:33 on my iTunes and iPod. Then, outta nowhere, I go to look at it yesterday and it's showing 4:39. Huh, 4:39? Where'd the extra time come from? Yeah, it would play the regular 4:33 but if I wanted to burn a CD and so on, why do I have to be confused with the lengths?
I also remember the other day, I had a lil' something I made of only 5 seconds and when I went to put artwork on it, the time shown went up to 25 seconds. I didn't know what to do so I took the song off my library, re-added it, re-added the artwork and it was the regular, fixed 5 seconds. Still, I don't know why it would even think of jumping to 25 seconds anyway...
What should I do? I don't think I can transfer my library to an older iTunes ('cause I tried that with my 2008 desktop computer and it didn't let me 'cause the iTunes was older). I have a very organized library of all the music and date added stats since I first got iTunes back on June 23, 2004 and I don't want it erased or anything.

Actually, I'm not havin' a problem at all playin' 'em back; it's just how they look. I just checked Windows Media Player and yup, they're displaying the lengths fine. Even when I just check the file info in the folder, it says the correct length without even opening any programs. It might be an iTunes problem.
And, the reason why I'm editing the files is because:
    1. I like to have them converted to 112 kbps (that's my choice 'cause it's smaller on my iPod but still sounds great).
    2. If their volumes are low at times, I like to fix them. Sometimes, the actual artists themselves send me songs and then, I would have to increase the volumes to where it sounds equally the same as other songs.
    3. I don't like to have silence. It's like, I have to wait for an additional 5, 6 seconds 'til the next song. I like things to sound consistent.
    4. With the lengths, I like to play a "guessing game" with myself. Like, when I'm doing my Top 500 Most Played songs on my iPod of the year, I try to guess by last played, times played, genre and time length. Time length is the most important. If the time's screwed up, then it won't be able to register in my head that good...
Overall, I think it's an iTunes problem.

  • How can I adjust the length of a note? Please help.

How can I adjust the length (the sustain time) of a note after I have selected the note? Many thanks.

Just drag the right end back and forth (mouse over the end of the note - a ] appears) - by holding down ctrlshiftdragging you can change the subdivision into ticks. In the Midi event editor you can do it numerically - just change the numbers displayed in the length section.

  • How do I change the length of multiple photo's after I've added them?

How do I change the length of multiple photo's after I've added them?

    Hey,
The best way to do this is to select all the clips by holding down the shift key or command key if the clips you want to change are not all right next to each other and then selecting each clip that you want to change. Then double-click on the clips which will open up the inspector tab and then you can change the duration. If you want to just change all clips to the same duration just double-click on one of the photos and in the inspector tab next to the durationt tab you will see a box that says "add duration to all clips". If you click that, when you change the duration all the photos will change to that duration. That will then change the duration of all the clips at the same time.
