How to show iPod in iTunes
Hello,
I recently asked my daughter to move iTunes to another computer in our home. Easy enough, downloaded, installed, but we ran into problems with getting her iPod to "show" in iTunes. She purchased a song and went to add it to her iPod and there doesn't seem to be any way to do this. So, we went back to the first computer to add the newly purchased song, but it doesn't show in that "purchased" list.
So, how do we get the second computer to recognize her iPod? I know it's there because the computer recognizes it, it just doesn't show up in iTunes.

That's because it was physically downloaded to the other computer, it's not on a list available to other PCs. If you want a song download on one computer to be available on another you have to copy the file over: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers

I am trying to restore my ipod via itunes. My ipod is corrupted and I can only connect it to the computer while the ipod is in disk mode. After ipod is connected and in disk mode, the first stage of restore via itunes begins, the bar appears, fills up and then disappears. Then my ipod seems to disconnect from the computer and begin an infinite reset loop algorithm. How do I successfully restore my ipod while it is in disk mode?
I have the same problem, but my ipod stays in disk mode all the time. Won't show in iTunes.tried Apples suggestion to restore in disk utility, but no dice! I have tried everything and now I will give up, maybe it's too old?

ITunes messed up - how to restore iPod to iTunes?
My father has asked for some help. He has an iPod, which was correctly sync'd to his iTunes on his Windows XP computer.
However, some 'expert' came and messed with his computer. Now, his music is spread over a couple of folders, and the iTunes appears to have some duplicates. (His iTunes also no longer plays any music, but that can wait until we've resolved the first problem.)
I'd like to help him completely clean up the mess and restore iTunes to a pristine condition, correctly sync'd with his iPod. I had a good look at his computer, but as I don't have iTunes or an iPod, I don't know what to do next!
How can he...
1. Wipe out everything from his iTunes (and from the folders) on the computer, and then:
2. Restore his entire iPod into his iTunes on the computer to the correct iTunes folder, and:
3. Correctly get the automatic sync working again?
Obviously, I will back up the music that is already on his computer first, just in case!
As an extra note, his iPod is currently set up completely correctly, as he wants it, so at this point he doesn't want any changes to the iPod. He only wants his iTunes to work again.
Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

But that is precisely what you should not do. iTunes doesn't distinguish between "originals" and "duplicates", you have to decide which is which. If you delete them all you have nothing left.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the trash unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the drive as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.

How to keep Ipod in iTunes when undocked
I want to be able to see and manage my ipod music while it is undocked. I did this before, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to keep the iPod showing in iTunes when it's undocked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Dell Windows XPIf it's not connected to the computer, you can't do anything with the iPod.
You can Enable disk use in iTunes prefs -> iPod and it will not dismount.
I want to be able to see and manage my ipod music while it is undocked.
That is what iTunes is for.
Make the changes in iTunes and then update the iPod.
Any changes you make on the iPod will not be reflected in iTunes.
When you have to Restore the iPod (you will), all changes will be lost. -

DFU mode, won't show ipod in iTunes?
iPod touch 2g has a black screen and is completely unresponsive (i have been told it may be in dfu mode). iTunes won't even recognise the iPo. If iTunes was not open before the ipod went into dfu mode it won't open untill i diconnect the ipod from my computer.

- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

How to open ipod through itunes.
Recently my ipod touch 5's LED stopped working but every time I connect it to my laptop itunes open. I'm getting a new one so I don't want to spend money getting this fixed but I want a back up for this one. Itunes asks me to open my ipod but i cant due to the led, can't i open it through itunes in any way?

My mac computer had a hardrive failure and we had to completely wipe out the computer could this by why my ipod isn't recognizing it? Is there anyway I can sync more music on without wiping my ipod out?

Hello, bought a new 4gb nano and after installing everyting as instruction suggest, nothing works. Windows shows ipod, but itunes does not. I see I'm not the only one with this problem, but what else can be done, is there anyone to talk to?(phone)? I didnt know that i needed a degree from MIT to use this. six hours of trying and 250 spent, dont know if this is worth it or not!

My old computer crashed and I got a new laptop but none of my music that is still on my Ipod will show up in Itunes. I don't know how to get it to import. Whenever I select the Ipod folder through my computer to Import my data nothing shows up.
All my music is still on my Ipod but I need it to show up in Itunes and I only have 3 computers that are authorized so its not like I can deauthorize all the computers and start over.
I now have Windows 8 and I'm completely confused over this new version of Itunes. I was having the same problem trying to figure out to import my music on Itunes from the old version with Windows 8 as well.
