How to show psd thumbnails in windows 8?

My psd files are only shown as icons rather than thumbnails in windows 8 explorer.  How cane I change this please?

You would need a third-party codec such as Ardfrey's.
View Photoshop PSD PSB PDD PDF AI EPS INDD files in Windows - x64 PSD CODEC for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Win…
or FPV
FastPictureViewer Codec Pack: PSD, CR2, NEF, DNG RAW codecs (and more) for Windows 8.x Desktop, Windows 7, Windows Vista…
MS really does not support PSD thumbnails.

  • How to "Show options" in every window at once?

In many Illustrator windows, useful tools and settings are hidden by default unless you open the flyout menu in the top corner and choose "show options".
I always want to "show options", everywhere, all the time.
Whenever I come to use or help someone with Illustrator on a new machine, new user account, new install, or after trashing preferences for any reason, it's necessary to click through every window showing its options. It's a nuisance and I always forget some windows, which means when I then use that window I'll be puzzled that a tool I'm used to isn't where I remember it being.
Is there any way to "Show options" everything at once? Or set it to never hide options anywhere? I've been right through Preferences and found nothing that looks relevant.
It'd be really useful for the above situations and also for helping beginners ("Let's see, is 'Scale strokes and effects' ticked in the transform window?", "There is no 'Scale strokes and effects' in the transform window!", "What, are you sure?" etc etc...)

I think you're misunderstanding the question, I'm asking how to open out all the options in every window.
Your answer is how to save it as a custom workspace after I've shown options. It saves them as being open by default, so that isn't a problem. A custom workspace might be useful as a backup or to transfer to another computer but I often want different workspaces on different computers (e.g. because of screen size differences). I just want to know how to "show options" in every window at once.
My question is 'How to "Show options" in every window at once?'

  • Is there a way to view psd thumbnails in Windows 8?

Is there a way to view psd thumbnails in Windows 8 without downloading third-party software?

No there is no way to do this in Windows 8. If you do not want to pay for a codec, here is a cost free alternative.

  • PSD Thumbnails in Windows 7, SOME SHOW UP!?!!

If someone could help me with this, I'd be ever so grateful!
With Windows Vista and Windows 7 now, I do not get thumbnail previews of the .psd files when viewing the files in the standard windows.  I've come to accept this.  But, when I upgraded to Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 (and Elements 9 if that matters), SOME of the .psd thumbnails show up in Windows 7 and others do not...and I have no idea why some do and others don't and it's driving me crazy!  Please, does anyone know what's happening, why some are showing up?  I will attached a screen shot below.  Thank you! (Note: I haven't added any extra software or third-party software to make this happen.)

Might be interesting to list the codecs you have installed to see if any could be interpreting the PSD format...
There's a good tool for doing that called AutoRuns and it's available here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902
I'm not sure exactly where to tell you to look, but with the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack I see all the entries as decoders in the Everything tab, under a couple of Class IDs with Instance subkeys...

  • PSD Thumbnails and Windows

After installing a PSD Thumbnail viewer for Win7 explorer, some Photoshop files thumbnails are viewable in Windows Explorer, while others are still showing a PSD Icon for the Photoshop image in Windows explorer, any ideas?

This is just a guess but possibly the previews show for any PSD  that has no layers.  If it has layers only the icon will show.  In Photoshop go to PREFERENCES> FILE HANDLING.  By "Maximize PSD File Compatibility", in drop down select ALWAYS.  This saves a flattened version with the layers which usually can be read by some file browsers.  Hope this works.

  • How to show WiFi password characters Windows 8

    Hi
how to display characters when I write the password to wifi in Windows 8.X?
    Check box "show characters" missing?!

There is an icon that looks like an eye at the end of the password field.  If that icon isn't there, that means the functionality was disabled in your environment

  • How to view thumbnails in Windows XP ??

How do I view a page of ,psd thumbnails in Windows XP Pro ??   I'm using PSE 7.

If you mean viewing thumbnails in Windows Explorer, because Adobe refuses to do the right thing and supply the necessary file, you need to use a 3rd party application:
    SageThumbs is free:
    http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/
    FastPictureViewer is reasonably priced:

  • Viewing thumbnails in Windows Explorer

I have just bought CS6 and when I save, the thumbnail shows the PS logo instead of the actual photo. How do I change this?

Not sure what you mean. There are no visible PSD thumbnails in Windows Explorer or whatever you are referring to. This hasn't been the case qor several versions now. It existed once, but then the compatibility issues became to great and ever since Adobe has not pursued the matter further. Use Bridge to browse your files.

  • Viewing thumbnail in Windows Explorer

On my desktop PC running Vista, in Windows Explorer I get a thumbnail showing the content of a pdf file.  On my laptop running Windows 8.1, I only get an icon with the pdf logo.  Is it possible to get the thumbnail view in 8.1?  If so, how?

  • Viewing PSD thumbnails in a directory

I'm using Photoshop CS 4. When viewing PSD file thumbnails ina directory I cannopt see the actual image - just a PSD label.  Is this functioning correctly? Why can't I see a PSD thumbnail in Photoshop?

Adobe stopped shipping the dlls that showed PSD thumbnails in the CS3 time frame. IMO the best solution is to buy and install FastPictureViewer codec. Not onle will you get thumbnails for PSD files you will also get thumbnails for many RAW image formats.
If you also have or had CS2 installed you may still have the two DLL on you machine aiicon.dll and psicon.dll they would be in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell". If they are there you need to also have some registry entries tor them.

  • .psd thumbnails

How can I view the thumbnail picture on a .psd file in CS6.  All I get is a blue box with psd/PS on it instead of the picture that's on that file.  This is very annoying because if I'm looking for a specific .psd file I have to look on my picture viewing software, find out what the file name is and then pull it up on photoshop.  I have CS3 and I have no problem seeing the picture.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question Trevor, it's much
appreciated, but it doesn't fix my problem.  I have Fast Stone Image  Viewer,
Bridge and Explorer and there is no problem viewing the .psd thumbnails,  I was
wondering why I can't view them on CS6.  There is no problem at all  viewing
That's because the File > Open dialog does not belong to Photoshop, it belongs to Windows. The blue icon is the result of removing a file that wrote the thumbnails because of problems on some systems.
Photoshop had a file called "psicon.dll" that wrote the thumbnails at the OS level but on some systems there were "file locking" problems and Adobe took it out. Since then Adobe and Microsoft have not been able come to an agreement as to who should do what.
You can blame Adobe or Microsoft all you want, but you won't get .psd thumbnails at the OS level. I know, I tried for a year and that was years ago. That's why I went with FPV.
The software I linked you to are "codecs". Upon install they produce .psd thumbnails in Windows so that you can see them when you use File > Open as an example.
Give FPV a try and let me know what you think. Or go with sagethumbs as Trevor recommended.
Yes it does fix the thumbnail problem.

  • In CS5, Win7...go to File, then Open...do you see .PSD thumbnails with preview images?

In CS5, Win7...go to File, then Open...do you see .PSD thumbnails with preview images?
In all other versions of Photoshop, I can see a preview of the image, even .psd files, but with CS5 now, I just see the PSD icons...this again, is when you go to File, then Open...  Anyone else see this?  In Elements 9, I see the preview thumbnail icon, not generic, same with CS3 and Elements 7, but not with CS5?

Well, I was thinking if others tried on their Win7 system, they could let me know if they get the same result or different...so by comparison I could see if I had an issue with my software, such as if it were standard...  However, I did figure it out...  It's a 32-bit vs. 64-bit difference.  Elements 9 is a 32-bit software, and so is CS5 32-bit of course....so both of those softwares show .psd thumbnails in the File, Open view...but the 64-bit does not...in Win7 64-bit...in case anyone else is wondering...

  • When I open an event, including flagged items, the photos appear one by one, not as thumbnails, so I can't export more than one phot at a time. How do I get iPhoto to show the thumbnails?

When I open an event, including flagged items, the photos appear one by one, not as thumbnails, so I can't export more than one phot at a time. How do I get iPhoto to show the thumbnails?
I've tried rebuilding the thumbnail database, but that hasn't helped.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Try moving the Zoom slider at the bottom of the iPhoto window all the way to the left.  Does that let more than one photo display in the window?

  • How to show thumbnail images in finder?

Windows can do this, so I'm sure Mac must be able to ....
When I am viewing a list of jpegs in the finder, how can I see thumbnail versions of the images? Currently, all that's displayed is the jpeg icon.
    Thanks.

If you have files that don't show a thumbnail icon, it may be that whatever program created the files didn't create a thumbnail image.
You can add the preview image quite easily using a program like
    QuickImage (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19253)
