How to show tags in different folders

I have all my photos in many folders, subfolders and subsubfolders. Now I have tagged some, and when I then klick on the little 'binocular' next to the tag to only show pictures with that tag - I was expecting to see all photos with that tag as thumbnails regardels of their placement in the various folders. But no! I have to have the folder marked in the table of contents in the left hand side. So basically I have to klick through all my folders to see where I have some with that tag. I hope there is another way to do this! How can I see all my photos with a specific tag? I also tried the timeline (which by the way I have found to be amazingly useless) and there the bars are slightly colour coded to show that there are some photos with that tag - but that still means klicking through a lot of the timeline and still only seeing the photos in a specifik folder at a time, instead of all pictures with that tag.
Hope someone can help me out here.

Seems that you have not tried the 'Thumbnail view' display option instead of the 'folder view'.
In that display mode, which is the normal mode of PSE, you can see pictures with a tag independently from their location.
The pictures are shown by data taken order (ascending of descending).

How to show media Icons for folders?

Guys, I've just installed a 2nd internal HD to my Mac Pro.
This drive will store all my media. I therefore have folders for Movies, Pictures, Documents and Music.
Unfortunately, these folders show the default folder icon which is just a blue box.
How do I show these folders with the icons which show on the Original Boot disk? You know the ones I mean - Pictures has a photo frame icon, Documents has a 2 sheets of paper icon etc

Thanks dudes. I've got the Icons. They don't look as good as the ones on the Boot Drive but they'll do.
One major problem though. I have a separate account for my wife as we like to keep our work totally in different places. When stored on the Boot Drive this works fine.
But when stored on the 2nd HD we both have access to each others files. Is there a way to prevent this? So when I log on my account I have access to only my files. And when wifey logs onto her account she has access to only her files.

How to show "Trash" folder in folders page.

Since ICS update, changes to the email screens were made. When you want to go to the Trash folder you now have to hit another tab to show all folders and then choose trash to delete your messages. Well I don't know how I did it but in one of my accounts the trash folder id displayed on that first screen but in the other it is not. How did I do that?

After spending about an hour and half on the phone with Verizon and Motorola 2nd level tech support, they still had now answer to my question. Told me there was no way to add the Trash folder to the first folder screen without always opening the Show All Folders tab. Well I guess The know it all people at Verizon and Motorola don't know enough to support there own product. Well any the folder magically appeared after I got off the phone. Only then I can figure is that after so many times of accessing the folder it realizes that it needs to put the folder on the first group of folders.

How to Interleave photos from different folders to Create a Slideshow.

I have LR 1.4.1 and am trying to create a slide show from photos collected in folders marked by the day they were taken. In addition there is a folder loaded with jpeg Title Pages intended to be inserted to mark the beginning of a new day in the slide show.
I am having trouble figuring out whether I should be in Library to interleave all these photos and title pages or in Slideshow. I am not able to reorder or compile into a new order in any mode I can detect. Should I be in a Quick Collection or just a Collection or somewhere else to order all the slides. Should I be in Grid view or Loupe view? Can I see the order and alter it in the Film Strip perhaps? I need to be able to SEE the slides from a source and the resulting ordered slides for a slide show to accomplish this.
Has anyone had this problem and solved it? I tried to accomplish this in iPhoto with no luck. Is what I am trying to do outside the norm for creating slide shows?
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

It sounds like you tried to open a new catalog, not create a collection.
Go under the file menu and click open recent. You should see your old catalog listed. Once you have that opened, go through and mark all the photos you want. You can use color labels, or some nonsence keyword, like qwqw or any method you like. Once you have them all marked, be sure you have all photos selected, then filter for your keyword or color lable, or whatever you marked them with. Then select all those photos. Then go down the right panel until you see Collections. Click on the + icon. In the dialog box that opens, give your collection a name and be sure the box "Add selected photos to this collection" is checked. Then click OK. Now you'll have a collection of the photos you want to use. If you want to add any to the collection, you can just drag them into the collection name. Be sure you're dragging from the thumbnail, and not from the border around the thumbnail. If you want to remove a photo from the collection, just right click it and check remove selected photo from collection.
You can then take your collection, and reorder them anyway you like. And then go to the slideshow module and there you go.

How exactly do tags differ from folders?

Surely, adding a tag to multiple files is simply the same as adding all of those files to the same folder? Where does the difference arise?

I think you stated it a little upside down, although I know what you meant. Correctly, a directory's structure is made up of folders and files. But "folders" do not contain "directory structures." The latter is what you wrote. I believe the former is what you meant.

How ATTACH multiple files from different folders in one ATTACH 'session'?

In Mac Mail, I often have to attach 2 or 3 separate files, all from different folder locations on my hard drive.
This requires clicking attach, selecting file 1 and clicking OK, which closes the Attach dialog.
Then I have to do it again 2 times for each other file. oy.
Is there a way to Highlight multiple files in different directories (ala Command-Select...which doesn't work) before selecting OK?
OR
I've found that I can DRAG a file from the Attach dialog into the email and the dialog will remain open, only the file is HIGHLIGHTED in the email and , hence, gets replaced by the next file I drag into the email (or select by the normal method)....
Is there a way to drag that file#1 into the email and have it NOT remain highlighted, so that I can pick another file to add in addition to that one?

I do not use hotmail so I'm not familiar with it. I can tell you that if there is no "New Mailbox" button that pops up at the bottom of the screen when you tap the "Edit" button at the top of the screen - when you are in that email account - my guess is that it is a POP email account and that's why you need one of these Exchange account workarounds.

The view link is generally used to relate two view objects together in the AMs data model, for example in a master-detail relationship. If you use them properly, ADF takes care of coordinating master/detail records - for example, ensuring that the detail record has the correct FK to the master record.

How do I get a different URL to show up after an email form has been submitted?

I have created a Form in DW CS5 and have some PHP server side code to mail it out.
However, once the Submit button is pressed it refreshes back to the Form - How do I get a different page to show up after the Form is submitted?
I tried using a behavior - onSubmit - go to URL - that gets me to the page I want to go to but I guess it overrides the PHP Form Action because the email will not send.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In my form - I have tried inserting a hidden field with the Value set to the redirected page I want to go to

In my form Action PHP Include - I have inserted a header function with the redirected page I want to go to
     mail($to, $subject, $body, $headers);
     header('http://www.website.com/page');
I have also checked for empty/extra spaces at the start and end of my php tags
None of the above has got me to the redirected page I want to go to after the submit button is selected - the Form page continues to refresh.

Such as, Slash's new album. Track 1 is "Slash Feat. Ian Astbury", track 2 is "Slash Feat. Ozzy Osbourne" and so on.
To fix this, select all the tracks on that album, right-click > Get Info, and say YES to changing multiple items.
Put "Slash" in the *Album Artist* field (for this example, of course).
Make sure it is the *Album Artist* field, not the plain Artist field.

How do I get photos to show in my collections folders after moving photos to a new location?

After exporting my main folder to a new location along with the .lrcat and .lrdata files, along with my backup files, all of my collections folders show zero images in them. I need to somehow link these files together to get my collections back. The pnotos are there, just not showing in the collection folders.

Whats the simplest and most easily mainted method for storing files? Do folks dump them into one huge file and then sort with Lr collections or do they import into smaller files AND sort with collections.
I would like to back up the mess I have and use collections but not sure if there is an efficent way to do so.
I believe that sometimes you are using the word "file" to mean "folder"
The simplest and easiest way to manage files is to use the default import mechanism in Lightroom, which is to put them into folders by capture date. This takes zero effort on your part. From that point on, you NEVER move them, how simple is that? (there is one exception which I shall explain in a minute) and then you use Lightroom tools ... keywords and other metadata, to allow you to organize and search.
Backups are accomplished by making a backup of both your catalog file and all of your photos.
The exception to never moving your photos is when you need to move them to a new hard disk or new computer, then of course you should move them.

Use the optional Contact Sheet II plugin which is found in Adobe's Downloads:
1) search for contact sheet in PS CS5 help
2) choose the first result and read carefully about the Photoshop Optional Plug-In Picture Packager
3) follow the instructions to download the zip file and note the location that you download it to.
4) follow the instructions to install the files.
I'm not sure how PS CS5 will handle ai vector image files or if you have to batch convert them to raster images first before using Contact Sheet II. Contact Sheet II allows you to choose a folder and Include All SubFolders as an option so you could create a Contact Sheet folder and copy all of your desired folders into that folder which will become subfolders of the main folder you choose for your contact sheet.
