How to show threads in Smart Mailboxes?

Is there any way to have "threads" shown in Smart Mailboxes wherein some of the emails in the thread might not fit the filter criteria? For example, for a Smart Mailbox with a filter that is a date range, some of the emails are part of threads with emails that are outside of the date range. It is far less productive if you cannot see that there are other emails in a thread. Any ideas on how to overcome would be appreciated!

Yes. There is a "show related messages" toolbar button which will show you the rest of the thread. Click it. If it's not in your toolbar, put it there.

How to create "Unread Junk" Smart Mailbox?

I am trying to create a Smart Mailbox that will show all of my unread messages that Apple Mail has marked as junk and moved into junk mail folders. It doesn't seem to work.
You can see from the screenshots below that I have unread junk mail, you can also see that I have a smart mailbox set up to show any unread messages in junk mail, but they don't show up. I thought that changing the selected mailbox from the "parent" all inclusive junk mail mailbox to an individual junk mailbox would fix it, but it didn't work. Any ideas how to set this up so I can see my unread junk mail in a smart mailbox?

I do not use gmail and know next to nothing about it, but you can probably find some help for the two step verification here. You may need to put a password on the app in order for it to work properly.

If you do not see that Edit button in the main mail window like I described, then the email account is not IMAP. I'm not familar with gmail, but I think that it can be set up as IMAP. The edit button that you are seeing may be for you to move email to the trash, or to archive your email. Gmail is a little differnt than what I am used to in the way that it works.

Once I've created the "smart mailbox folders" they seem to be permanenthly set in the position.
How can I move them up or down from there?

Unread Messages From Exchange Trash Show Up In Smart Mailboxes

I have five accounts configured in Mail. I have two smart mailboxes set up to show selections of messages e.g. Home Inboxes is supposed to show messages in the inboxes of my private accounts. It is configured like this:
Strictly speaking the second condition shouldn't be necessary as the Include messages from Trash option is not checked. However, despite all this, deleted messages on an Exchange account I have still show up in the smart mailbox:
As you can see there are messages in there that are in Trash.
I've tried rebuilding all the mailboxes but that doesn't seem to help. I can create new smart mailboxes with the similar condition logic and they don't work either.

Actually I just noticed that it doesn't matter if they are unread or not.

How to show image in Smart Form dynamically , Image is stored on local PC

I have a requirement where user can attach any image to PM Order in T-code IW33. Now this image gets stored on user`s local PC.
After this user will generate a report which is a Smart form, On this Smartform i have to show that attached image.
So that image will contain Order Id and attached image.
How this can be achieved.

Actually this Image(Image of Signature ) will be coming from Mobile device and then it will be stored as an attachment for an PM Order.
So there will not be any manual interuption and therefore no one will be storing this in se78. But this image gets stored in local PC. And now i have to get this image on my Smartform.
Any idea how to do it?

How could you create 'Last Time Contacted' Smart Mailbox in Mail app Lion?

Hello!
For the purposes of maintaining regular contact with a large group of contacts in your address book:
How could you create a smart mailbox in the Mail App (Lion) which contained that last unique sent/received email from each individual contact?
So ideally just the last email per contact. For my purposes I would then sort by date and find the contacts I havent emailed in a while and re-initiate conversation.
I also thought that perhaps it would be possible through Automator? (I am not very familiar with how to use this app)
Any ideas/solutions would be very appreciated!

Okay, I think I just discoverd a workaround. This will work if you're lucky enough to already have a smart-mailbox folder that persists after close. (Somehow I had two such folders that already existed and weren't subject to the mysterious disappearances on closing the app; perhaps I created them in a previous OS X release?) Anyway, here goes:
Locate an already existing smart mailbox folder that's working properly. Select the folder (in the sidebar).
Duplicate that folder using the "Duplicate Smart Mailbox" Command. (It's on the contextual pop-up menu or available via the gear icon in the lower left of the window). This should produce and exact copy of the folder and the boxes inside, appearing at the bottom of the smart mailbox list.
Edit the duplicate folder to put the smart mailboxes you want in it, and delete the previous mailboxes (duplicates) that you don't want.
The new folder structure should now persist between launches of the app.
There you go. Not the most elegant process, but workable. Don't know if there's a method if you don't have at least one smart mailbox folder already though.

I tried to create a smart mailbox for all the mails which doesn't appear in any other smart mailbox.
I know that I can tell my smart mailbox not to look for mails who are in the inbox or the other default-boxes of the mail program.
But how can I choose a smart Mailbox instead???

It would help to post what you've tried. It does, indeed, appear that -h is the switch, and the man includes several examples, so if you've followed the examples and it's not working then that hints that you should pass it back to Apple.
You also don't say how you're implementing your change. Are you invoking slapd manually, or are you editing /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.openldap.slapd.plist ?
You should be doing the latter, and I'd expect to see something like this:

How to show mail count in smart mailbox?

I have a smart mailbox that displays messages from a specific local folder/mailbox for the current day. The counter next to this smart mailbox is only for unread messages. Is there a way to change the counter so it displays for all messages in the current day (read and unread)?

It works on a new install on a new computer... so its obviously from the upgrade... it happens on mine as you have described... but setup a new computer for a client and they got message counts on their smart folders...

I am trying to find a way to create a smart mailbox that only shows emails I have sent.
If I receive 20 emails today, 10 yesterday say, I have a Smart MB where I have set up emails received today, another SMB for emails received yesterday and another SMB for emails I've received in the past week. I can very easily see what has come in during the last few days or whatever.
What I also have are rules that move all emails received and sent to specific folders. The idea is that I will have nothing in my INBOX. The problem is that although it's easy to set up views to see what emails I've received on any day using the calendar option, I can't see a way of doing this to see what emails I've sent.
So, if I receive 20 emails today and I replied to 3 of them, those 3 will get sent to whatever folder I've allocated for them - I put all emails TO/FROM in one folder for each email address. This way I don't have 2 email folders TO and SENT for each recipient.
My problem is that I want to ONLY look at what I've sent today or maybe yesterday etc. if I can set things up the same way as receiving emails, But I can't seem to do this.
Seems strange that there are options to see filter out what's coming in but not what is being sent! But if there's a way to do this, it would be appreciated.

Mail creates a Sent mail folder automatically when you set up an account. All your sent mails are kept there. You configure how it saves your sent mail here:

Hello. I just got my new Macbook Pro with Mac OSX version 10.5.2. I set up my mail account on the computers mac's mail application but I am having trouble transferring my old mail and smart mailboxes from my old computer (iMac with version 10.4.11). I transfered over everything in the "Mail" folder in the "Library", but my old mail and smart mailboxes with that mail are not showing up on my new computer. Any advice of how to do this please!?

The easiest way is to either network the 2 Macs, or use FW Target Mode on the older one..

Smart mailboxes: How to create a rule with an OR statement?

I have three different accounts in Apple Mail.app. I'd like to create a smart mailbox that shows just the sent messages from all three accounts in the past seven days. The rule begins with +Contains messages that match all of the following conditions+
1. The first part of the rule is +Date received is in last 7 days+
2. I hit the plus button to add another part, which is my first account email address +From is equal to [email protected]+ This works fine and displays all outgoing messages from that account for last seven days.
3. I again hit the plus button to add another part, which is my second account email address +From is equal to [email protected]+ Now nothing appears, which is because none of my messages have both addresses in the From field. If I change the match parameter to Any, then all messages, incoming and outgoing from the last seven days, appears.
So I'd like somehow to display all messages from all three accounts that have arrived in the last seven days. How can this be done? As an experiment I entered [email protected] OR [email protected]+ in the From is equal to field. That got me nowhere as well.
Any tips or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How can I get a view of what's not in any smart mailbox?

I want to see basically my inbox, only with all of the things being displayed in my smart mailboxes HIDDEN. I don't see an option for this. I tried creating a smart inbox, but there's no way to create the inverse of my smart mailboxes because the rules don't seem to allow it. Is there any way to do this or am I out of luck?

Thanks. Yeah, smart mailboxes being sort of filtered views of your INBOX makes good sense (references not copies as you say).
I could do what I want to do if there was either an option to hide stuff in the inbox that's in a smart mailbox OR if there were better smart mailbox rules for what to include. For example, if there was a "None" choice as well as "Any" and "All", I could create an Inbox2 that contains all the stuff that doesn't match any of the criteria for my other smart mailboxes. But it's not quite the smart. Also, I could make it work if you could include smart mailboxes in the rules themselves, but they only work with regular mailboxes. I can understand why that would not be a feature though.
Basically, smart mailboxes are great. BUT I want to use them to reduce the clutter of my inbox, not just see a view of it. So perhaps this is a feature request. I can't see how to do what I want to do...
