How to shrink photos by percentages
How can I shrink or enlarge photos using iPhoto by percentages?
You can only change size of a photo during export - there you can set the maximum dimension of the exported photos as well as teh quality of the photo
You can not enlarge photos - only reduce the size

Color Shift when shrinking photos to Small under Mail Photo
I've noticed that picture quality gets really bad when shrinking photos to small using 'Mail Photo'.
Obviously the resolutio is far lower and quality will drop but it seems to have a strange effect where colours slightly misalign so an object will have a red/green shift appearing on either side of it.
If this is just me - is there a way I can 'reset' iphoto?jetsetjules:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just ran a test with a couple of color test images and didn't find any color shift between the original and the small in the email. I used Photoshop CS2 to compare.
What camera do you use and what is it's color profile. I have a Canon and here's how it have things set up as far as color management.
Canon imparts the sRGB IE61966-2.1 color profile which is extremely close to the standard sRGB profile. I have my monitor set to the sRGB profile. I do not have iPhoto set to embed a color profile at this time. You can open the ColorSync Utility application, in your Applications/Utilties, and 1- repair all color profiles and 2 -check your camera's profile against what you have the screen set to. You might want to reset the screen to the camera's profile.
Then, using Pref Setter, you can check to see if iPhoto is set to embed a profile or not. You can change it from what it is and import a new file. Then check the color in another email. A little trial and error may be required. You'll also want to check prints against what you see.
If you camera uses the Adobe profile it is much different than the sRGB and you probably will have some adjustments to do. Good luck. -
How do delete photos from iPhone but keep them on the cloud?
Is it possible to delete photos from an iPhone but keep them on the cloud? If not what is the purpose of buying extra storage for icloud If you phone can only hold up to 128gb?

How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library can move the original high-resolution photos and videos to iCloud and
replace them with lightweight, device-optimized versions on your iOS device. This helps you
make the most of your device storage while giving you access to more photos than ever.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings >
Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You will need
an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.
Yes I want to know the answer too.
If I subscribe to iCloud storage but my iPhone can just hold up to 16 gb.
Why do I have to do it ? to make my iPad see photos from my iPhone?
I did try to disable icloud photo while i had 1gb photos stored in my iPhone
and wipe them out, yes ,nothing left, 0 data. but when I turn on iCloud Photo -
again. everything come back as preview photos but when I look at each, my phone
will download them all anyway. so, how can you manage space on devices actually?
if I have 16 gb on my phone , So I can see all of my 1tb photos on iCloud ?
and have enough space on the phone to do other things right? -
How to manage photos from multiple accounts
Hi,
i am trying to solve one problem. I have one iMAC where i have two user profiles connected to different AppleIDs. Next to it there are two iPhones and two iPads. I am trying to find out, how to manage photos from all these devices using one account on iMAC. Second question is if there is any finction in iPhoto that can publish images to NAS server? Second alternative for me is to byu iCloud drive space and use Family sharing for publishing photos. Bellow text schema is attached, it is only my idea and i dont know if this could work like this. Did anyone somehow solved this configuration? ThanksI can see the screenshot if I double click on it. However, here is it again. Being Halloween maybe it'll show.

How does iCloud Photo Library and Optimize iPhone Storage Work?
Even Apple Phone support can't answer these questions:
How does iCloud Photo Library (Beta) from yesterday's 8.1 update with Optimize iPhone Storage turned on work? (I'm on an iPhone 6)
It only stores your iPhone/iPad versions on your device, which is amazing. Why would you need anything else? It freed up around 8-10GB of space on my device which is amazing. But how does it work when you use it?
When you email it seems to ask you, when sending what size you want to send like it's always done. It gives you the original 2.4MB version. This works like I'd imagine and when I received the test email the photo was correct. In this case I assume it hits iCloud and sends it from there, not your actual device. (Like it doesn't re-download it to email it). Correct?
When posting to Facebook, does it do this same thing? Or is this something Facebook has to build into their iOS app in an update? Or does it just work? Correct?
When posting to Instagram, does it grab the right version. Obviously the phone optimized version should be fine, but when viewing on a Desktop version of Instagram at instagram.com, will it show the right version?
Sometimes I backup photos using Image Capture on the Mac. If I did that right now, would it only grab the iPhone versions? Obviously I can just test it but it'd be amazing if someone who knows these things could explain all of these use cases.
Do you need to be on
In closing it's more of how does this work? Does it work? Why wouldn't you want to use this feature if it saved space and made more sense? I guess I just would love some real clarity since not even the blogs are explaining how it works in every application.
In closing part 2. It does seem to work really well, it's just those fringe cases. I just viewed all my photos on https://beta.icloud.com/#photos and they're all there, easy download of the high res, delete, it deletes from my camera roll on my phone, it's amazing, it works, it's magic. Just tell me what issues there are with storing only low res iPhone on my device and if there are none, game on!
Thanks!santiagofrommiami wrote:
And of those 4.3GB of backup, my Photo Library is 1.4GB.
So my question is, how do I prevent my Photo Library from being backed up to the cloud, since I already have a backup of it everytime I connect to iPhoto and it copies all those photos to my mac?
I don't know, sorry. It's supposed to work alongside Photos & iCloud, so that photos are stored only once. When it doesn't work you have a couple of options as I see it –
Delete the old backups on iCloud to hopefully start over (I don't like deleting the only backup of anything).
Forget about iCloud backups & use iTunes to backup instead, it might not be suitable if you have no computer etc.
Buy more storage for iCloud.
I don't use iCloud backup, it bemuses me with issues like this, there is no easy way to resolve when it fails.
And one more question while we are at it...can I erase iphoto from my computer now that I have the new Photos app?
That is up to you. If you are happy you do not need it & have a backup of it go ahead & remove it. You can re-download it from the app store if it is already in your Mac App store account. -
I am after some advice on how to access photos on an iPad that were synced from a now failed laptop? The question stems from a need to return my current iPad having just taken delivery of a new unit. Thanks
If you have a dropbox account, there's a free app (probably more) that syncs photos to your dropbox account - picbox.
There's also PhotoSync that syncs photos to/from a number of different services and devices. -
How to export photos from photo gallery to my iPad
How to export photos from photo gallery to my iPad
I had no trouble finding the "Export" tools in the "File" menu. They are greyed out when no photo is selected, but they are functional after selecting one or more photos.
I agree that it would be nice to have the "Reveal in Finder" option back, but they probably don't want us mucking about inside the Photos library structure. -

Sending the photos over WiFi might be the easiest way for you to accomplish this. The Wireless Transfer App should work. You will both have to download the app on your own devices. Read about it here.

How to get photos from an email message into iPhoto?
Not sure if this is for the iPhoto forum or the Mail forum, but here we go:
I'm trying to figure out how to get photos I've received by email (through Mail) into iPhoto. I seem to remember seeing Jobs demonstrate it onstage a year or two ago but I can't remember what he did. I recall it was a simple one or two step process.
Any help?Still works for me
on an e-mail with photos attached go to the Save button next to the attachments list, point to the triangle to the right of Save inside the button and hold the left mouse button down - a menu will appear with save all at the top entry, a list of photos below that and "add to iPhoto" as the bottom entry - move your pointer down to the "add to iPhoto" and release and your photo will be a new event in iPhoto
