How to sign out of old ICloud account

I have recently just updated to IOS 8 and I am unable to log out of my old ICloud account which I no longer have or know the password to I can't seem to find a way to log off so I am able to sign into iCloud with my other apple id

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iPhone and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Now eveytime I open a new Safari page on my iPhone, both macbooks show up with the Safari windows that are still "open". If you mean the iCloud tabs for your old Mac, these will normally be cleared after 14 days. Give it a couple of weeks and see if they don't disappear on their own.

"If you no longer have access to the device that shared the tab, the tab will automatically be cleared from the list after 14 days, if the tab is not updated."
Also, seeing the iCloud tab doesn't mean it's still signed into your account. It just means that the tab hasn't been cleared yet. If you completely erased it should no longer be signed into your account.

I was recently deployed and my iPad froze while trying to update to ios8. When i got back home i plugged in my iPad and backed it up with info over a year old. When it backed it up it used the data from my old iCloud account that i no longer use. I go to settings-icloud and click on sign out at the bottom of the screen but i can't log out because i don't know the password for my old account. I am wanting to restore my iPad completely and resync my iPhone with my iPad. how can i log out of my old iCloud account without knowing the password? i tried to use forgot my apple password but the email was sent to the address i no longer use also. we had to change email address because old provider shut down so no longer exists. now when we try to delete old icloud account it has old email address and prompts us for a password. but it wont work because there is no password for that old account that is no longer in use? please help

The fact that the email address doesn't exist anymore doesn't matter. As far as the Apple ID is concerned, the email address is just a user name. As long as you know the password you used, it should be fine.
