How to silence ring through headphone jack.

I have occasionally played music from my iPhone out through the headphone jack and through our in-house audio system at church. Which usually is great. However, if I get a phone call while the song is playing from iTunes, the ring comes through the system, even though I've got the phone silenced. Any idea whether this is even possible to correct? Obviously, having a phone start ringing through the PA during the middle of a worship song is pretty annoying.

Put the phone in airplane mode. That will turn off all iPhone radios. You can still use the ipod function in airplane mode.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • HP Pavilion Dv7 Windows 7 No sound through headphone jack or speakers

Hello. I have been having trouble with the sound of my laptop for quite some time.
I discovered this forum, and was trying to find my laptop's problem, except I found that I could not find a thread that pertains to my laptop's individual problem. As stated in the title of this thread, my laptop does not play sound through the headphone jack or speakers. However, when I plug in a usb headset the sound works. I want to rule out the possibility that this is something I can fix myself before I have this computer sent in to be repared.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software that runs the sound (I forget what it's called). I also tried turning off the laptop, removing the battery and holding down the power but ton for 30 seconds; that didn't work. I have tried making headphones and speakers the default audio, except that didn't work either. It seems that maybe my laptop is just broken, and this is the second time this has happened. (The second time, what the hell!)

    Hello Pandabear277 and MicrosoftUser,
What is your product number and operating system?
    Thanks

  • No sound through headphone jack even though it's been replaced...

I'm hoping someone has some info, i've rang the support line three times and have got nowhere!
Basically, i have an ipod 4th gen Nano 16gb and a few weeks ago i suddenly got no sound coming through my headphones or speakers. I was quoted for a headphone jack repair, had it done and when i reeived it back the unit was still not working and it was suggested that i have a problem with the logic board.
However, this work was not carried out by Apple so i'm not sure how this wouls affect my chances of them repairing/repplacing.
The Nano is also out of warranty.
My ipod only gets occasional use, and i've never had any issues with it before or dropped/damaged it in any way.
Basically i was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to when i go to the Genius Bar whether they would replace my ipod even tough it is out of warranty. I only ask because a similar thing happened to my friend and his was replaced...

    Try the Microsoft audio fixit.
There were no BIOS updates related to udio issues released for your notebook.
What is the service pack level of your Windows 7 OS?
Have you been installing Windows updates?
Did this issue just begin recently and did it occur after a Windows update was applied?
    Post your results here please.
    Best regards,

  • Recording Microphone through headphone jack?

    Simple question:
Can I record audio through the headphone jack on my laptop with this microphone?:
    http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-20-Unidirectional-Microphone/dp/B00005T39P/ ref=dpreturn2?ie=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics
If not, how do you connect this microphone to your computer to record?
    Thanks!

Certainly not through the headphone port!
There's a separate audio line-in, but it's 'true' line-in, meaning it expects line-level (i.e. pre-amplified) input. So, you'd need a powered mic, or instead you might consider a USB mic.

  • Ipod isnt working through headphone jack.

My ipod touch isnt working through the headphone jack. Simply said. How much will it cost to get something like that fixed? It works on the speakers inside the ipod, and everything with it is fine aswell. Its just the darn headphone jack.

It roughly will cost you about $50 in labor plus the cost of the part. you can check around for repair shop prices but this is about the normal price for this type of repair. if you like to try fixing it yourself check out youtube videos. if your not handy on working on electronics I would highly suggest that you let a professional do it.

  • No sound through headphone jack, no mechanical problem, what to do?

I have verified through resetting my new iPad, that there is noe mechanical problem with my headphone jack. it works fine until I reinstall my backup. Thus it is a software issue, byt what? There is no selection for output jack problems in support, just look at the menu options for posting on iPad. Nothing on connections like the headphone jack. Strange.

    Steinar-
Your problem may be due to a software issue, but it is not normal.  If you are near an Apple Store, demonstrate it to an Apple Store Genius.  If the Genius can not fix it, you may get a replacement iPad.
One thing you can try while the headphone jack is not working, is to reset (reboot) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • Constant static through headphone jack

Playing audio through the Mac's own speakers - no problem, but audio through the headphone jack = irritating static / whitenoise as well as the audio, the right side worse than the left.
I tried with a number of different headphones and speakers through the jack, which showed that the problem wasn't the headphones. This is an 18 month old iMac.
When I took the Mac to an authorised repairer to get the optical drive replaced recently, I reported the problem with the headphone jack, and they replaced the wire between the motherboard and the jack thinking that would fix the issue, but it hasn't. They suggest replacing the whole motherboard (for a further outrageous cost (I'm no loner in a warranty period)). An earlier discussion in the community thought the problem could be resolved with a grounding adpater on the power cord, but in Australia we don't have that problem because all power is grounded.
Any advice on what exactly the problem is? The repairers couldn't say, but I note that a number of people have reported this issue but not posted any successful fixes. Any suggestions?

you could also try a reset.
PUSH AND HOLD the middle button and the menu button AT THE SAME TIME for 10 seconds.. this may take a few trys and it works best if hooked to power..
you could also try a restore but if you do backup your information because it will erase your ipod

  • !!! HELP: Connect nano to stereo through headphone jack?

Is it possible to connect an ipod nano to a stereo system through the audio minijack/headphone jack? I was sure it was possible, but now it doesnt seem like it.. I've got a nano, but havent opened it yet (its my birthday present..) and nearly the whole point of me getting it was because I wanted to play it through the stereo!! Im seriously considering returning it! Isn't there an adapter or something, other than those crappy 3rd party fm/cd/tape ones that you can use?? do you HAVE to get a dock or some expensive thing?
I know that they left out the a/v jack on the nano but I thouhgt that was mostly for connecting to a tv and you could use headphone jack for just audio.. im so bummed out. my mom's been calling stores for me and asking them and they say it's not possible. grrrhh
please let me know if there is some way..!!!!

I know, tried it and it worked
shows them stupid store staff who dont know sh*te about the things theyre selling!
I LOOVVEEE my nano so far! It ROCKKSS!!! <3 <3
thanks you guys + for the replies

  • How did you fixed your headphone jack breaking since verizon sucks at customer service

My headphone jack literally just stopped working. All the stuff I have read online is showing that most LG G2 users have this exact problem. I would like to know how to get mine fixed since verizon is sending me on a rat race to find out what to do.

There has been no damage to the phone. I have tried four different head phones. When it started all i had to do was twist the head phone and the phone would lose connection. When that happens on the LG it completely stops playing music, turns the display screen on, and sometimes changed settings while in my pocket. I used compressed air to try to clean it and a paper clip. Shortly after it completely stopped working unless i held it in place which of course is horribly annoying. I use my phone with its million features and apps to basically make phone calls, text, flash light, and you guessed it, listen to music. Without music i have , literally, little use for this phone. Trying to contact customer service has been extraordinarily frustrating. I called the store i bought the phone and told the girl working that from what i read online, this phone suffers from this problem a lot. To me that means the manufacturer is selling faulty product that will knowingly break. And of all things, the head phone Jack? They've been around for how many years now? The girl working agreed with me that they break often and told me to remove the battery and put it back in. On a phone that doesn't allow you to remove the battery. Then she gives me a number i call that then tells me to get some other phone to call a different number which is not what i need. I need information on how to fixed or have it replaced. I had purchased insurance but when my card maxed the insurance plan was cancelled. I've had it for over a year so the warranty is gone. Now I have a phone that doesn't do the one thing i like it to do While employees admit to me they break often over the very problem i presented. Very frustrating to buy a phone, which by the way is really a great phone, that can no longer do what my 20 year old CD player can still do, connect to the headphone jack.

  • Processor noise through headphone jack

Do people still have the old processor hum on the headphone jack? Mine seems to be gone after an SMC reset and RAM upgrade a few months ago. Thoughts? Will it come back?
Oh, and how do I edit a posting?

    Er... yes.
I got my iMac yesterday after 10 years of Windows PCs, one I.T. job too many & having a Mac mini for 10 days!
When it comes to audio I found with most PCs you'd get some noise - clicks and whirrs and whines and hisses. Even my main PC's fairly high-end Audigy 2 ZS sound card had some slight noise.
So, one thing that really impressed me with the Mac mini (apart from its size and cuteness!) was the complete absence of electrical noise or interference from the headphone socket, even with the volume on full.
However, after getting my iMac home, spending an hour in gobsmacked awe at the sheer beauty of it, then plugging in my headphones to diddle about with Garageband without annoying my green-with-envy flatmate, I was very disappointed to hear some low but noticeable electrical noise - alternating between a hiss and whine.
Usually this was only really noticeable when no sound was playing, but after 10 minutes wearing headphones for general usage it did get a bit grating. Even with the volume turned right up and down the level of the noise didn't change.
Looking at the system profiler it says that it uses an Intel High Definition Audio chip - this is probably the same one as used on (admittedly, better quality) Intel PC motherboards.
    Oh.
    Dear.
And there was I thinking I was spending £1,299 on something different and more special.
But have I regretted selling my main PC for £650 (it cost me £1000 to build less than a month ago! And thats without a monitor!)? Naaah... OS X over Windows any day! It's like owning an Amiga again (but thats another story!)
Anyway, what sound chip does the Mac mini and the iMac G5 have? And is anybody else noticing the electrical noise with the Intel iMac? And is there anything I can do about it without having to show my reddening face at the Apple Store again?

  • IMac G4 plays through one speaker on stereo system through headphone jack

Ok so for some reason the headphone jack won't allow me to play music on my stereo in surround sound. It just plays music through one speaker. i have adjusted the balance on my amp but now i can only play through 2 out of 5 speakers? help please! headphones work properly but not sound system?

That's normal, unless the stereo system has an upmixing matrix program in it, and then you have to actually engage it.
So do you have a surround sound receiver, or just a stereo receiver, or is it just an amp?

  • Audio through headphone jack

Got new Q10 BB and most apps will not play sound through the headphone jack but rather only through the speaker. The exception so far is the slacker radio app which does play through the headphone jack fine. Through this support forum i have made sure the TTY setting is off and went thru turning the hearing aid feature on/off to no avail. i have verified that the BB software is up to date. Suggestions as i cant be the only one with this issue.

Have you tried using another HeadPhones ?
