How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo:
I want to known how to install windows 7 on Old Macbook 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo by using usb
I try many time, but after restart bootcamp partition, apple show blinking folder error
I think this firmware not support to install windows by usb
    NOTE:
I Cannot install Apple New OSX Mountain Lion, Mavericks etc in this MAC
If I cannot install windows 7 on this MAC, so tell me what I will do with this MAC  ?

I agree with the optical drive, mine acted strange, and i thought people were crazy and my drive was shot, but a simple cleaning disc worked miracles.
But- are you trying to reboot with both the USB install and the DVD install both plugged in?  that would definitely cause confusion.
Do this, reboot with NOTHING plugged in.  Once you hear the Mac chime, immediately press and hold option.
You should only see the Mac HD, and Recovery Partition.
THEN plug in your external DVD, and wait a min or two, you should see a disc icon appear next to the recovery partition that says something like windows.  If that doesnt appear after a min or two, unplug it and put the USB stick and do the same thing.  I had to do it this way on my mid 09 MBP.
Let me know if this works to start the install.  If not we may have to start over with Bootcamp Assistant

  • How can I connect my Early 2011" Macbook Pro 13" inch, with a generic Mini Display Port to HDMI connector, to a LG 32LD340 LCD TV, using Mountain Lion 10.8.2?

I have an Early 2011" macbook pro 13 inch (core i5 2.3ghz 4gb ram 320hdd) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and I want to connect it via Mini DP to HDMI connector, and a HDMI cable to a LCD TV LG 32LD340. When I had Lion OS, I had no problems at all.

If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

  • Booting problems on macbook pro 17 inch

So I have installed a new SSD Harddrive and ram, in my old macbook pro 17 inch.
I have tried to get it to boot into "boot manager" by pressing Command + R, but nothing happens. I have tried this by the keyboard on the computer itself, a wired keyboard and a wireless keyboard. but still nothing happens, its just goes over to the folder with question mark.
Then i tried to make a bootable usb drive from my other mac, but when I hold the option key the only thing that happens is i get mouse cursor to appear.
    so what do i do?

First I suggest that you reinstall the original RAM so that you eliminate that as the issue.
Advise the model MBP you have?  If it came with installation disks, use them to install an OSX.  Then you can proceed with OSX upgrades.
    Ciao.

  • Duo Displays Problem on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Resolution 2560x1440 and 1280x800, Sometime 2560x1440 is blank screen and must restart to fixed it

    Dear all,
I found some problems for using Duo Displays with MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) display and Samsung UHD Display (U28D590). I use resolution on my macbook is 1280x800, Samsung UHD Display is 2560x1440 And Connect with Display port to mini display port.
But I use sometime found always blank screen on Samsung Display and I tried to unplug mini display port and plug it again but it is not working until I shutdown and restart my macbook pro, my display back to working.
I want to fix this problem because it is very trouble for my working a lot.
    Thank you very much
    Phot

The symptoms I'm getting now, and I'm not sure if they're any different, suggest that for some reason Mountain Lion thinks my display resolution is higher than what it is, as wether I'm turning AirPlay on or off, it keeps changing it (on the MacBook) to what looks like maybe 1080p.

  • Dota 2 problems on Macbook pro 13 inch

    Hey everyone
I'm having this problem on my MacBook Pro 13 inch mid 2009 OSX 10.9 while playing dota 2.
When I'm about to play it is so lagggggyyyyyyy like I can't land a skill. I have fast consistent internet and I'm trying to download bootcamp to see if it will fix my problem. Any suggestion everyone?
Can someone help me? Appreciate your help.
    Thank

What you should do is time consuming but really helps (it helped for me)
Go to your disk utility setup and select your harddisk drive, then click on verify disk permissions and after that repair disk permissions, don't ask me why it runs in this order but it seems to elliminate the cause. you will most probably see some repairs being listed.
the next step is to "repair disk" procedure, allthough it could be possible that it can not and then it will tell you to use your setup disk that came with the computer, insert disk hold command and "R" at same time and you come into the menu to repair or re istal software etc.
I ran the repair mode, then re installed my operating software and it seem to resolve this issue but also the long start up problems.
    good luck

  • Battery Problem on Macbook pro 15 inch

    Hi,
I having some issues with my battery. I had recently upgrade my snow learoard to the new lion os on my old macbook pro that I have now. When I did that. My hard drive makes some noises when I have muilple applications that I do run. I also do videos and it makes wierd noises when I'm uploading and downloading videos. So my question is how can I save battery life on my laptop when i'm using muliple prolbems that I use at the same time? Also I do charge my battery all day and all night and when i went to the apple store my cycle count is 5. The condition of the battery is normal but I just want to saved battery life on here. So I just need help on how to do that.
    Thanks

    Finally, I solved it!
I don't know why but when I did a file check, at the "Unix environment" (with commands + S I think), and a repair permissions it is OK.
I have to say that it did not solved when I reset the SMC.
I hope my problem and the solution to be useful to others.
    Cheers!

I have a late-2011 13-inch MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite. (Standard configuration).
My problem is that I downloaded a fan control application and it worked perfectly, but it started to get annoying so I deleted it.
Does anyone know how to reset the fan speed back to factory settings (Maybe a command in terminal?)

So I just got a new macbook pro 13inch and installed lion on it.  I want to get windows 7 on it but I only have a upgrade copy of it so I was wanting to install windows vista and then upgrade it to windows 7.  Problem im having is bootcamp wont help since it says it needs to be windows 7 that i install so when im in vista i cant really get anywhere because it wont run the windows 7 utility exe.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

You can't install Vista so you'll need a full copy of Windows 7 to install.

  • [SOLVED, mostly] Arch on Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch with Retina Display

I've been looking into the Apple MacBook Pro. Of course, I would want to get rid of Mac OS X and load up Arch. Please tell me if the following will work out-of-the-box or have workarounds:
    WiFi
    Ethernet
    Sound
    Touchpad
    Keyboard
    Charging
    Bluetooth
    Graphics Card
    Webcam
    Microphones
    USB 3.0 Ports
    HDMI Port
    SDX Card Reader
I know the high DPI display shouldn't be a problem since GNOME Shell now supports those, but I want to be able to use all of the above things. Also, please let me know if there are any other problems to look out for. Thanks.

I can't comment on your specific model, but IMHO, getting a Mac (especially a Mac laptop) to run Linux exclusively doesn't make much sense, for the following reasons:
Apple's EFI implementation is weird, and some features (most notably the ability to upgrade the firmware) can be done only with the help of OS X. As a practical matter, this means that you'll either have to use exotic tools like the Linux version of "bless" or boot the computer in BIOS/CSM/legacy mode -- and even then, upgrading the firmware will be a hassle, should that become necessary. Booting in BIOS/CSM/legacy mode is the easier path, and there's nothing wrong with doing it that way, but as the industry is moving away from BIOS and toward EFI, it means that either you'll be going in the other direction or you'll need to struggle with a Linux-only EFI-mode installation on the Mac.
Hardware support in Linux for Macs is a bit weird, in part because of the preceding issue (the weird Apple firmware). I realize your question is aimed at uncovering specific answers about this topic, but as a general rule, Apple hardware seems more trouble-prone under Linux than standard PC hardware. Also, note that hardware support can vary depending on the mode you use (BIOS/CSM/legacy vs. EFI). Video hardware can be particularly troublesome on some models, with BIOS/CSM/legacy sometimes working better.
Mac mice (including laptop trackpads) are 1-button devices, but Linux works best with 3-button mice. A 2-button mouse can do in a pinch. Using a 1-button mouse with X requires applying unusual workarounds involving the use of keyboard keys while clicking the mouse button. Although this can be done, it's an extra hassle, both to set up and to use. On a desktop computer, of course, you can just replace the mouse, but this isn't always practical with a laptop.
I haven't checked pricing recently, but Apple hardware tends to carry a price premium compared to similar hardware from other manufacturers.
Although most of these issues (with the possible exception of price, if you're on a tight budget) aren't really critical by themselves, they combine to create a rather unpleasant combination, at least when considering a Mac exclusively as a platform for running Linux. If you wanted to dual-boot with OS X, things would be different, of course, but personally, I wouldn't buy a Mac as a Linux-only computer.
If you've got specific reasons for wanting a Mac, perhaps you could post them here. Although I personally haven't shopped for a laptop for a while and so can't offer specific suggestions, somebody else might be able to suggest alternatives that would do what you want.

  • How to obtain apple hardware test for MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009), how to obtain apple hardware test for MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)

I no longer have the software disk (OS10.5) that came with my MBP in July 2009.  I only have the $10 Snow Leopard disk from Apple, which does NOT seem to contain any Apple Hardware Test (AHT).  I have tried starting while holding d or option keys to no avail.  Does neither my laptop nor OS 10.6 install disk have AHT?  If not, can the appropriate AHT be obtained?  My wife has an older MacBook & her original 10.5 install disk, but it will not launch AHT in my MBP.  Any suggestions?
    Thanx

I like the advice to contact Apple and simplky pay for a new AHT.  I did that, giving them the serial number of my MBP and indicating it was a June 2009 model, 2.66 gHz Core 2.  However .....
I received yet another Apple FedEx shipmet with yet another different Mac OS X Leopard install DVD; this makes three in all!! Just as with the 1st DVD, these two will NOT mount on my desktop, are NOT seen by Disk Utility (or by Drive Genius) and cannot boot my MBP laptop in either of 4 different modes: (1) start-up with "d" (2) start-up with "option d" (3) start-up with "option" (4) start-up with "c".  Apparently none of the disks I received have Apple Hardware Test on them, although that is what I paid for in early December.  It may be that the last two disks really do have Mac OS X Leopard on them, but because I am now running OS 10.7.5 (purchased from App store with no AHT), the disks cannot be seen by my laptop.
The two most recent incorrect DVDs I received have the following part numbers:
                        SRF2Z691-6037-A [indicated on packing slip 10.5 Retail-International]
SRF2Z679-6341-A (indicated on packing slip 10.5.6 Retail (PCrly 09) In]
I happen to have MacTracker app 7.2.1.  It indicates that my laptop is a MacBookPro 5,3 model A1286 EMC2325 and requires Apple Hardware Test 3A171.  Apple never sent me the correct AHT.
I suspect that Apple's cost to ship 3 incorrect DVDs by 1- or 2-day FedEx vastly exceeds the $17.44 price I paid for a working version of AHT for my computer, but have yet to receive.

  • Screen problem with MacBook Pro 15 inch, mid 2011

I did not turn off my computer last night before going to sleep. This morning, when I "woke" it up, the screen turned to negative colours. I restarted my computer, and since then the screen has stayed pitch black. The computer seems to turn on fine, I can hear the hard drive running.
I did some research online: I already tried to reset the SMC and Pram and nothing worked. I am thinking of setting up a monitor to find out if it is a screen or a GPU problem. Any suggestion, advice, tip?

You are on the right track.  If the monitor display is black, then the GPU is the problem.  If the monitor display is normal, then the MBP display is faulty.
You did try the F2 key (brightness)?

  • Problem with MacBook Pro 15 inch - the joint is not sturdy enough

I noticed that the part where the screen joins the lower part is not hardy enough so that it falls easily when I try to do it lying down. Is there a way to prevent this?

There is nothing you can do about it. For some reason, newer MBPs' hinges are weaker. My unit is over a year old now and the hinge has seemed to actually gotten stronger.

You certainly don't have any third-party software that's causing your sluggishness.
Sometimes, a failing hard drive can cause sluggish behavior, however.
Boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the command and R keys whilst booting) and once at the Recovery screen, select Disk Utility. Select your hard drive (in your case, the aptly named "Macintosh HD") and click on the "Verify" button. If you get green text telling you that everything appears to be OK, then it's not your hard drive slowing things down. If you get red text telling you that the disk needs to be repaired, click on the "Repair" button. If the disk can be fixed, it will be. If not, call back.
