How to sort photos?

I have photos, events, and faces in iPhoto and they are sorted correctly (by date or by name alphabetically as is proper). When the photos are sync'd to my iPad or iPhone the Faces are all mixed up. How do I get Faces and Events to sort properly? This did work until I did some iOS update (I don't remember which update when the Faces stopped being sorted properly).

Yes - when you sync your iPad with Aperture libraries directly, the iPad imposes its own sort order regardless of what order your albums are sorted by in Aperture. So if you've sorted your photos by date, they'll sort by some other criterion on the iPad. This, from what I've read, is not the case with iPhoto. Apparently it will use the same sort order as iPhoto's albums are using at the time of sync. Whether this is a bug in Aperture or the iPad or a missing feature is unknown. Although the features that exist on the iPad are incredibly polished, the feature set still leaves something to be desired.

When viewing an album on the iPhone you can tap "Photos" at the bottom and that will show all photos by date. Unfortunately though it is all photos, not just the album you are currently viewing.
What I have done is the following. On the computer I have a main folder (e.g. iPhone photos) and then make sub-folders within that. Placing photos that will be synched to the iPhone into various subfolders gives quite a bit of organizational capablility. In iTunes when you select the main folder to sync, the sub-folders will show on the iPhone as separate albums. Beyond that, in one case where I really wanted a specific sort within an album I renamed the photos on the computer (something like A-picxxx, B-picxxx) so they sorted on the computer alphabetically in the order I want on the phone. That sort order was maintained after the sync.
Note that each time you sync using iTunes, the non-Camera Roll pictures on the phone will be set to match the current iTunes settings/photos -- so you can experiment.

You can not -- neither automatically or manually - you should never be in the masters folder and there is never a need to be - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it's database structure is determined by it (and changes from time to time) - use the supported access methods (direct access to the photo files is not supported and never has been) - either using iPhoto or using the media browser in the lower left hand corner of every open/attach/iupload window
It is CRITICAL that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto

How to sort photos in albums by date in iPhoto '11

For some reason that I have yet to divine, iphoto 11 jumbles the order of photos in any album I create. For example, I have an album called 'Family', and rather than display the photos by the date they were taken, it jumbles them into a mish mash of images. I took 50 pics yesterday and imported them last night. I opened iphoto today to make some edits, and the photos have been dispersed throughout an album of thousands of images. I know I can go and examine the images in 'Events' or 'Photos', but I'd like to see them in context with the rest of my family photos.
Is there some way to get albums to sort photos by date taken like the older versions of iphoto?

I have imported 273 photos into an album in Photoshop Elements Organizer. They originally came from 2 different digital cameras, so the date stamp on them is different. All the photos were combined and sorted by filename before they were imported. I want to keep them in this order for creating a DVD. The Media Browser Arrangement indicates you can sort by date (oldest or newest) or Album. I have searched the Help topics until my eyes are ready to pop out of my head and have spoken with support (for 45 minutes) until we got disconnected. Help!!!

This approach has worked in many versions of Photoshop Elements for making an Album based on file name within a single Windows folder - but I can't say for sure about version 8.
Since you say they were combined and sorted by filename, I am guessing that you have all of those photos in a single Windows folder.
So try switching to the Folder Location view of the thumbnails, navigate to that Windows folder within the PSE Organizer left side of the screen foldeer structure and verify that the photos are displaying in name sequence within that folder.
Using the Folder Location view (where the photos are displaying in name sequence), select those photos and add them to a newly created PSE Album from their display under the Folder Location view.
Another consideration -looking ahead to your actions
You mention burning to a DVD - if this will be a slideshow burned to a standard definition video DVD for TV playback, I wonder what resolution those photos are? For example, were they from a 5 megapixel camera or a 12 megapixel camera ?
The dilemma is that the resolution of your photo files could be too high for processing 273 photos to make the slide show. If you will be burning a standard definition video DVD from Premiere Elements, there is a recommendation to have the photo files used for the slide show be a resolution of approximately 1000x750 pixels (or equivalent adjustment if you will do widescreen). In a way this is the opposite of printing where if the resolution is too low, the print quality will be poor. For slideshows written to video DVD, too high a resolution stresses the process of making the video and can either reduce quality of image in the final video or cause crashes.
If you will be burning to a Bluray DVD or displaying on a computer monitor , then the resolution should be somewhat higher - but a 12 MP camera will still give too large a resolution. The Process Muliple Files function in the PSE Editor or the File > Export new file in the Organizer provide methods to take your entire folder of photo files and create "downsized" resolution files that are written to a different folder so that your current files are untouched.

I'm a big apple user, other than the computer. i have a pc . ya i know, i'm dumb but oh well.
so i know if i had a mac i could use iphoto to sort it, but i dont, so is there a pc software that will do the same thing? or perhaphs a real way to change the date/creation or some setting that will allow me to have my photos sorted in my iphone.

You can use a third-software like Mediamonkey to copy the music and videos onto your new computer. Then, do a backup on iCloud for your other settings, contacts, etc.
Then sync your phone on the computer.

Faces is a way to categorize photos in iPhoto on Mac computers. It is a "built in" album in that application. Unless you have a Mac and you use iPhoto from which you sync your photos, Faces does not appear in the photo app.
I have no experience with the iOS version of iPhoto, and maybe that allows that functionality, but you would have to check that out for yourself.

I have a MacBook Pro laptop and am trying to use iPhoto. I uploaded pictures but they uploaded out of order. Photos taken from different locations on my trip are all mixed up and I would like to sort them in chronological order. Things I have tried have been time consuming and often take several attempts before the moved photo "takes" to its new location within the album. As a first fix attempt try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your

Events are organisation for those who can't really be bothered. They are automatic - based entirely on Date and Time the camera records the photos as taken.
You can move photos between Events, you can Merge Events, you can Rename them and sort them in various ways except one: You cannot manually sort in an Event as Events are all automated.
If you want to manually sort in an Event then you've outgrown Events as an organising tool. Now it's time to look at albums (Where you can manually sort) which are much more flexible than Events as an organising tool.

how correctly to sort videos, mp3, photos in different directories?
for example if i take a picture in appears in gallery --> image@videos, all music clips there as well..but it should be in gallery--> sound clips.
all other videos should be in tools --> file manager-->my videos am i right ?

unfortunately you can't separate any videos (u add to ur phone by not using nokia video manager) and images in the gallery. the best u can do is create albums in the gallery.
In the video centre u can seperate the videos in 'my videos' by creating new folders. i didn't clearly understand ur question so i hope this helps
