How to specify 125% or 150% zoom in Text Edit?

I have just installed Mountain Lion (coming from Snow Leopard), and Text Edit has done away with the zoom selector in the bottom right corner of the document window. As far as I can tell, the only zoom options now are in the View menu, which provides a rather ham-handed 200% zoom. It's way too much, and precludes being able to view the entire page. So it appears that the only choices are too small or too large.
I'm probably missing something, but I can't find anything in the Help documentation. Is there are way to get 125% or 150% zoom, or has Apple killed that functionality entirely?
Thanks!

Never mind...I figured out a very simple solution.
I still have a Snow Leopard boot volume on my primary drive, which means I still have a copy of the trusty Text Edit v1.6 that comes with Snow Leopard. Guess what...it works just fine in Mountain Lion.
So, I created a folder called "Text Edit 1.6" in my Mountain Lion Applications folder, moved a copy of Text Edit v1.6 into there from my Snow Leopard volume, and...ZAH! — I'm back to running a version of Text Edit that provides the very useful 125% and 150% zoom levels.

  • How to increase the number of characters in Text Edit??

    Hi,
      How to increase the number of characters we enter in the Text Edit, for example i can't enter not more than 255 characters. If to enter upto 500 char, what to do.
    Thanks and regards,
    Karthik

    We can't restrict the number of characters a UI element can take. Rows and columns properties are to specify the visible no of rows and columns.
    If u want a restriction in the number of characters you have to create a simple type and set it to a context attribute and then map it to the text view.

  • How to get the cursor position in the text edit box?

    Hi, all.
    I want to get the cursor position in the text edit box
    to insert some data.
    But I don't know how to get.
    Can someone give me some advice?
    BestRegard.
    Miya.

    Hi Miya,
    Write your own textSelectionSuite for this.
    and use ITextTarget->GetRange() function.

  • CS5 / Win: How can I detect an key in a text edit box

    Hi
    I like to detect a key (an input) in a text edit box. I suppose I have to install an observer.
    - Is that right?
    - Sample?
    I installed an observer for the dialog and attached the text edit box. But there is no call (in ::Update) if I do an input into the text edit box.
    Thanks
    Hans

    Hi Hans
    You can use EventHandler or Observer
    For observer, attach the Subject to IID_ITEXTCONTROLDATA
    InterfacePtr<ISubject> subject(this, UseDefaultIID());
    if (subject != nil)
    subject->AttachObserver(this, IID_ITEXTCONTROLDATA);
    and then look for change: kEditBoxKeyStrokeMessage
    For EventHandler:
    create KeyDown(IEvent* e) method and use
    const SysChar nCharCode = e->GetChar();
    to find which key was pressed, ie. kReturnKey kEnterKey
    EventHandler will notify you also if any of modifiers was pressed with the key, like Shift, Alt....

  • How can I reset the DEFAULT zoom view in Firefox at 125%, like IE, so I don't have to reset it every time ?

    How can I reset the DEFAULT zoom view in Firefox at 125%, like IE, so I don't have to reset it every time ?
    I have seen this question asked previously and it seems there is no answer.
    I know that one can change each individual web page (that reset defaults back to 100%) and, alternatively and apparently one can load an add-on to fix the default size at Full Zoom.
    ... But any hints on how to achieve a DEFAULT 125% zoom would be much appreciated.

    Press CTRL + 0
    Have you tried Firefox's zoom feature? Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages
    You can "zoom" all sites using this add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]. After setting your global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
    After installing NoSquint, click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
    If you don't have the Add-on Bar displayed, you can right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
    You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but I wouldn't go much higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
    If there are particular sites that still present a problem, feel free to post their URLs.
    You can find more information about the zoom features Firefox offers in these articles:
    [[Text zoom]] - For zooming text only
    [[Page zoom]] - For zooming the whole page (including images etc.)

  • Can I have the text on web pages magnified to 125% or 150% as I used to do in Internet Explorer ?

    As I recall, there was a drop down menu where you could choose to increase the size of the print on web pages to 125% or 150% of its standard size when using Internet Explorer. Where is this option in Firefox 4 ?

    If you just want to do it on a few pages, see the [[page zoom]] and [[text zoom]] help articles. If the menu bar is hidden, to access the View menu you can temporarily display the menu bar by pressing the Alt key.
    If you want this on all sites, you can use an add-on such as [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965/ Default FullZoom Level].
    If you do not know how to install add-ons that are not shown as compatible with Firefox 4 beta, a simple option is to use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter] add-on to install add-ons marked as incompatible.

  • PDF Export Looks Good at 150% Zoom, but Bad on 100%

    Hi,
    I'm extremely new to InDesign, and am trying to make a colourful resume/portfolio design using ID, but am running into an issue already with exporting via PDF.
    The original issue was that the logo (which has my name and occupation(s)) were coming out SUPER blurry as a PSD I "placed" in the ID document (I tried PNG and Photoshop PDF as well, to no improvement).  After a lot of struggling with export options, I went back to PhotoShop and changed the PSD from 72 ppi to 300 ppi, which increased the dimensions of the PSD but improved the quality significantly.
    However, now I find that the PDF file looks great in Acrobat on larger zooms (150% and 200%), but bad on 100% (where it seems like it's being "downscaled," so the smaller text looks awfully compressed).  I've experimented with ppi's in between (240, 180, etc), but it ends up becoming "blurry" at 100%, like the 72 ppi setting.
    Any ideas on how I can fix this so the logo looks crisp at 100% on a PDF export?
    Thanks,
    RTL
    Image (full-size): http://www.starrcadia.com/logo2.png

    Hi Willi,
    I tried a PNG once earlier (when I was still trying to fix the 72 ppi logo), but since it had no improvement, I abandoned the PNG way before (it's a PSD in those screenshots above).
    The PSD is still layered in Photoshop.  I took your advice and imported it into Illustrator, and saved as an AI file, and then placed that in the ID, but it wasn't an improvement.  I notice that everything (including text I wrote in ID) looks far superior on 150% zoom in Acrobat, and perfect on 200%, but 100% seems to downscale all of the content (except the background).
    Thanks!

  • How to specify -preview when launching via AppleScript

    I have an InDesign Server CS5.5.I have a shell script that waits for xml files to be placed into a certain directory on the server. When it sees a file in the folder it launches an applescript that controls InDesign Server. I need to know how to specify the -preview option for the InDesign Server binary so the files generated by the server will have previews when they are opened in InDesign client. The apple scripts look like this:
    tell application "InDesign Server"
         -- do some stuff
    end tell
    Where/how would I specify the -preview option. I see nothing referring to the -preview option in the Library for indesign.

    There's two ways to set it:
    1) in command line when you launch the executable, there's a preview option. I don't remember off hand the exact syntax.
    2) In the script itself (using Javascript syntax -- Applescript would be similar) app.serverSettings.imagePreview = true;

  • How to specify a variable in the script logic

    I want to pass a variable from the process chain using the prompt statement.
    I  want to refer to the variable name in the script. When I used the following statement in the script file, I got an error when validating the statement below:
    //Increase Wage and Salary & Personnel Exp. by entered percentage
    [P_ACCT].[#CE0004020] = [P_ACCT].[CE0004020] * ( 1 + $WS_PERCT$ / 100)
    Syntax error:Reference Error: $WS_PERCT$  is not defined
    One of the how-to guides indicated that I should use the dollar sign before and after the variable name.
    Can someone explain how to specify a variable name in the script.
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Pravin.
    I tried using the syntax with the # sign (as shown below) but when I validate the code I get an error. The message indicates there is an issue with $WS_PERCT$.
    Syntax error:Reference Error: $WS_PERCT$ is not defined
    P_ACCT].[#CE0004020] = [P_ACCT].[CE0004020] * ( 1 + $WS_PERCT$ / 100)
    Can you please advise if am missing something here in the code.

    As orafad indicated, you'll have to use the USING INDEX clause from the documentation, i.e.

  • How do i turn off scrubby zoom in latest illustrator CC ?

    How do i turn off scrubby zoom in latest illustrator CC ?
    I tried looking in the preferences panel and googleing it- didn't work-
    Somebody was talking about preferences->experimental features - i didn't find such tab in preferences

    Same problem here, but it doesn't matter what preview I use (CPU or GPU), both have the scrubby zoom.
    I found the solution in the "Preferences/GPU Performance": disable the function " Enable Animated Zoom".
    When this option is not cheked, then the scrubby zoom is off.
