  • How Do You Use Your Blackberry--Email

    Hi, all,
    Being a Blackberry aficionado, I find all of the different things your Blackberry can do for you amazing.  One of the best features of all Blackberry devices is email.  With your email pushed directly to your device, you don't have to be near your computer to send and recieve email.  With the Blackberry, you can add up to 11 email addresses, including 10 supported email accounts and one BlackBerry email account that comes with your device.
    My question to you is this:  How many email accounts do you have on your Blackberry device?
    I will start by telling you that I have 6 email accounts on my device.
    Thanks for sharing...
    Doc

    Hi - I have 4 at the moment:
    BB  (which I don't use, but set up because it comes with.....)
    Gmail (which is actually receiving gmail + 4 more linked to the gmail account)
    AOL (personal, family)
    Treasurer email for a scout troop
    I have my business email funneled through Gmail at the moment, with folders (err, labels) set up to sort it all out for me - if I split the business email off and set it up separately on the BB, I would then get duplicates of all of those. And if I take the business OFF the gmail grab list, I'd have to re-set up all the folders and such . . . and I like the way gmail handles things. The only pitfall is I can't RESPOND to the business emails from the business email address unless it is set up on the device - any reply I make comes from Gmail.
    Any of you BB gurus have a workaround to keep my business email funneled through gmail , yet be able to reply to emails on the BB with the business address? Within gmail, you can choose which of the linked emails you want it to send from, but I haven't been able to manage that from the BB.
    ....Still learning new things every day!!

  • How Do You Update Your BlackBerry (without Windows)?

    That about says it. I realise that BlackBerry is late to the Mac-development game (which is a very respectful understatement), but is there no way to install BlackBerry software updates via OSX? I can sync w/ PocketMac, but that's about it.
    The more I discover how handicapped BlackBerry's Mac support is, the more regretful I am that I didn't do my research (although I love the Bold).

    I am currently experiencing the same frustration. I spoke to TMobile tech support and had little "support" other than to check out this forum. If I can't find the solution on here, I'm switching to the iPhone - at least I'll be able to use my Mac with it. Get with the program, RIM. Or, more nicely, maybe there's something in progress for us Mac users? I have an error message and need to update with the latest desktop software. I can only think of one PC user and they're more than 500 miles from me.

    ~Gday from Down Under~

    I have registered my email and selected a blackberry email as well.  I had to go online to Tmobile and register my email as I only have 2 options at the "add email" screen.
    1) I want to use a work email account.
    2) I want to skip email setup.
    I do not have the option here for adding my own email.
    I have yet to receive email to my phone.
    While at the Tmobile store, the rep registered my phone so I could get the email accounts set up.  When I look at my account online, I see the emails I have added to the account.
    I get no emails.  I sent one to my blackberry account, but still no emails.
    I had a pearl that I borrowed last year and it was no problem.  Actually got too many emails.  Now I get none, only text messages.
    Suggestions?

  • How To Update Your Blackberry Handheld Software

    Hey, all,
    Lately, a lot of Blackberry owners have been asking some basic questions regarding updating their device's software, or operating system (OS).  I know that I own a Bold 9650 and a software update was just release a few days ago.  A couple of questions arise and they are good questions, "How do I update my Blackberry software," and "Which is better, wireless update or on my computer."  To answer, let me start with which method is better.  Both ways are ok, however, wireless takes at least 90 minutes to 2 hours.  The download can be interrupted and corrupt the whole process.  I find updating by way of the computer faster and safer.  It usually takes about 30-45 minutes with a computer.  How to acutally perform an update is fairly easy, but you need to be prepared in advance.  To start, you will need your USB cable that came with your Blackberry.  Before you update, backup your device's data with Blackberry Desktop Software.  It is always good to save your personal settings, calendar events, and contacts.  The rest of the process has been laid out very nicely by Blackberry, so I thought I would just give you their instructions for installing the Blackberry handheld software.  Go to this website for more information.  Follow the instructions and you will not go wrong.  If for some reason things do not go well, you can always check here in the forums for an answer.

  • HOW TO FIX YOUR BLACKBERRY: DEVICE SOFTWARE REINSTALLMENT.

     All your phone truly needs is its software updating. I believe that sometimes certain software versions just stop working or become incompatible in some way or another because they are too 'old',  and this incompatibility particularly affects Blackberry Messenger or receiving incoming emails. I worked out how to fix my own Blackberry Curve 8520, without having to ask anyone for help, particularly my carrier service (Orange - as I believe that they are as clueless as we are!). In short terms, you need to replace your device's software completely, and this may take a while, but it is definitely worth it!
    This is how I fixed mine :
    1) Have your USB lead ready to connect your phone to your laptop, or Mac (but do not connect your phone via the USB to the laptop until after step 3.)
    2) In order to manually reinstall the latest software - even if you have the latest software, this shall work - you have to download the 'Desktop For Blackberry' program onto your laptop, or Mac. Click the following link in order to download and install this program -
    http://www.us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/ -
    (for laptops only, to download this program for Macs, go to the blackberry website and find the program, it gives you the link for Mac download separately).
    3) Ensure that you have fully installed the 'Desktop For Blackberry' program on your laptop, or Mac, and then proceed to set up your phone with this program by connecting your phone to your laptop, or Mac, via the USB cable. It should then prompt you to enter your devices security password. From here, you should be able to access your phone via your laptop.
    4) Once 'Desktop For Blackberry' is fully set up and synced with your Blackberry device, the next major step is to install the latest software update for your device (even if you have the latest software, reinstalling it should work). Follow the following link in order to download the latest software version via 'Desktop For Blackberry' -
     http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/devices/
    - (If you are viewing this message a few weeks or months later, when you follow this link, ensure that this is the LATEST software available. If it isn't, the latest software shall be on the left of the screen when the link is clicked on.)
    This should, again, prompt you to enter your device security password on 'Desktop For Blackberry', and then follow the next few steps to fully install the latest software onto your Blackberry Device.
    NB; DO NOT DISCONNECT OR LET YOUR LAPTOP, OR MAC, LOSE POWER DURING THIS PROCESS, OTHERWISE THIS MAY LRENDER YOUR DEVICE COMPLETELY DISABLED.
    NB2; THIS PROCESS IS NOT A QUICK FIXX, IT MAY TAKE UP TO AN HOUR, OR MORE, FOR THE PROCESS TO COMPLETE ITSELF.
      LET ME KNOW IF THIS WORKS, KUDOS PLEASE AND LEAVE ANY COMMENTS OR QUERIES !!

  • HELP! How to get BlackBerry 10.1 on your BlackBerry Z10

    Hello,
    I got the BlackBerry Z10 since a week and now I wanted to update it to the BlackBerry 10.2 Beta version. But the version is really bad and now I'd like to change back to BlackBerry 10.1. I downloaded the version 10.1 and wanted to install it but when I turn my phone back on there's a msg 'BlackBerry dev alpha update had ended...' any my phone wouldn't start anymore. I tried hard reset but nothing works...got BlackBerry 10.2 back on now.
    Please help me!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    OK thanks...let's see if I've understood.
    1) You first attempted the OS Upgrade (which actually does not apply to your situation) by
    Removing your SIM card
    Disabling Location Services
    Then conducted the 11 steps
    At what step did it fail? And what was the exact and complete error message presented?
    2) Next, as described in the post, you
    Launched Link and connected your device
    Selected "Reload Device Software"
    What was the exact and complete error message presented please?
    3) Finally, you followed the 11 steps, but somewhere along the way something went wrong...is there any way for you to be more exact in your description? What step number? What was the exact and complete error message presented?
    As you can see, I've not needed any "specific words"...all I've done is cite from the post I linked you to, so as to try and elicit details that will be useful...

  • How to Re-Install your Applications after Updating to BlackBerry Device Software 5.0

    If you have recently updated your BlackBerry to BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0 you may have noticed that you are missing some of your applications.  The most common reason for this is that the applications are not designed to be run on a BlackBerry using version 5.0 and they are automatically removed during the reload process.
    If this has happened to you you will need to follow the steps outlined in one or both of the the following articles:
    Applications are removed after upgrading or switching to a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry ... (KB19913)

  • How to find a lost BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect

    Posted originally on the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
    It’s a scenario no one wants to encounter but here’s a quick overview how you can help locate your BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect if you can’t find it.
    Tip: Using a BlackBerry OS device? Check out this post for help locating your device using BlackBerry Protect.
    Step 1 – Enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services
    To locate your smartphone you must enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services.
    After you turn on Location Services, your smartphone only sends its location information when you request it through the BlackBerry Protect website, or when your battery power is low.
    Swipe down from the top of the screen
    Tap  Settings > BlackBerry Protect
    Set the BlackBerry Protect switch to On
    Tap Location Services
    Set the Location Services switch to On
    Tap  Back to save your change
    Step 2 – Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website
    After you enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services, complete the following steps to view the location of your smartphone on a map.
    Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website located at http://protect.blackberry.com
    Click View Location
    BlackBerry Protect will attempt to locate your smartphone
    If your smartphone can be located, a map appears similar to the following showing the approximate location:
    If you still can’t find your smartphone at the reported location, use the Play Sound option within the BlackBerry Protect website. This option makes your smartphone ring loudly for one minute as well as activating the Loud profile.
    Help! BlackBerry Protect can’t locate my smartphone!
    To locate your device it must be turned on and connected to the wireless network.
    Because BlackBerry Protect also uses GPS, you may not locate your smartphone if it is inside a building, underground, or otherwise blocked from receiving a satellite signal.

  • SPEEDING UP YOUR PL/SQL DEVELOPMENT

    제품 : SQL*PLUS
    작성날짜 : 1997-01-09
    =================================
    Speeding up your PL/SQL development
    =================================
    By Jeff Warner
    If you're doing Oracle database or application development, then you're probably using PL/SQL. Every PL/SQL programmer is familiar with
    using SQL*Plus to develop PL/SQL programs. Developer/2000 offers a better way: Procedure Builder. In this article we'll explore how
    Procedure Builder can improve your PL/SQL development.
    It has a GUI
    ==========
    The first feature you'll notice in Procedure Builder is the graphical user interface (GUI). Procedure Builder provides separate windows for the
    Object Navigator, the PL/SQL interpreter, and the program unit editor. By the way, if you think the program unit editor looks familiar, you're
    probably right. Oracle uses it inside the other tools in Developer/2000 (Forms, Reports, and Graphics). Using the Object Navigator, you can
    view the relationship between your code and the library and packages. Object Navigator also provides the references and referenced-by
    information, as well as giving you the ability to examine the procedures and functions that make up packages and libraries. This makes it very
    easy to take advantage of existing code.
    The PL/SQL interpreter is just what you'd expect. You can use normal SQL and PL/SQL commands and see the results in the output
    window. You create your PL/SQL in the program unit editor window. As with any text editor, you can cut, copy, and paste as well as search
    and replace text. You can also use the editor to import and export source files. However, the editor's best feature is the Compile button. Click
    the Compile button, and Procedure Builder will compile your code and display any errors in the bottom of the window. Click on the error,
    and your cursor will move to the offending line. This will radically improve the compile-debug-run sequence. Speaking of debugging,
    Procedure Builder has something that will really make life easier for you.
    A PL/SQL debugger
    ================
    Yes, Procedure Builder includes a real debugger for PL/SQL. Its features include breakpoints, triggers, variable inspection, variable
    modification, step into, step over, and step out.
    Having a graphical and easy-to-use debugger can dramatically improve code development. For example, to set a breakpoint in your code,
    simply bring the PL/SQL interpreter window to the front and double-click on the line where a breakpoint is needed.
    Once you've set a breakpoint and executed the code, the debugger will stop the program at the breakpoint. From here, you can use Object
    Navigator to view and change the variables in the program. To resume execution, you can use Procedure Builder to step into, step over, or
    step out of a routine. Procedure Builder also provides an option to simply continue execution.
    A powerful feature of Procedure Builder's breakpoints is the capability of adding trigger code. Trigger code is a piece of PL/SQL that
    executes when the breakpoint is hit. You can use this feature to log the value of a variable to the screen or a file.
    If you need a conditional breakpoint, you can use a trigger. For example, let's say you want to stop execution only if the local variable i is
    greater than zero. First, select the line where you want the check to occur and create a trigger by clicking the right mouse button on the line
    and selecting Trigger. This will open the PL/SQL Trigger window. In the Trigger Body area, enter the following command to halt execution:
    if debug.geti('i') > 0 then
    raise debug.break;
    end if;
    Now the program will stop execution only when this condition is valid. You can also use the Trigger Body of a trigger to log information to a
    file or a screen.
    Debugging server-side programs
    ===========================
    The version of Procedure Builder shipped with version 1.2 of Developer/2000 is V1.5.5.7.0. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow you to directly
    debug programs on the server (this is planned for a future version). However, with the click-and-drag partition feature of Developer/2000,
    you can use Object Navigator to drag the program unit from the server to the local program unit and debug it there.
    Lots of help
    =========
    Procedure Builder includes extensive help under Windows. In addition to the normal help available on program features, Procedure Builder
    provides help on the built-in packages as well as the PL/SQL commands to maintain libraries, program units, and packages. Also, version 1.2
    or later of Developer/2000 provides the Cue Cards and Quick Tour.
    Conclusion
    =========
    As you can see, Procedure Builder is a very powerful tool for development. The debugger is first-rate and the extensive help is a great
    addition. One other nice feature of Procedure Builder is that Oracle will license it separately from Developer/2000 if you have users who don't indeed the other parts of Developer/2000. If you're doing PL/SQL programming, you should take advantage of what Procedure Builder has to
    offer.

    micwic --
    I logged bug6508875 for this.
    One suggestion in the meantime until we can get compile errors directed to the log window for offline objects...
    You can open the Database Navigator to point to the same db connection. After generating the offline PL/SQL to the db, refresh the connection in the DB navigator. You will see any invalid objects flagged with an error icon. Then you can right-click on the PL/SQL with the error, and "Make" it. This will display the errors in the log window, similar to SQL Developer.

    Also I'm new to Vista, what is the best way to disable startup programs (any good third-party software?)
    Thanks!

    Hi  John,
    Please take a look at the reply from Wyck in the following thread.

  • How do I sync my Blackberry Tour calendar to my Google calendar?

    I just upgraded my phone from a Blackberry Tour to a Droid Razr M.  (The trackball stopped working so I my alarm clock still sounds and my reminder alerts still work, both in volume and on the screen, but I can't answer the phone or clear the screen.)  I am hoping to sync my Blackberry calendar to my Google calendar with the plans to then sync my Google calendar to my Razr calendar.  I wasn't sure how to do this so I searched verizonwireless.com for some direction.  I found the answers that I was looking for, but my BB was not in service because of the Razr switch-over.  Of course with Murphy('s Law) being my closest friend, my printer doesn't work so I was unable to print the "how-to" instructions I had gotten from the this website.  When I went to a VZW store in Warwick, the CSR disabled the Razr and re-enabled the BB and sunc the calendar to Google.  He thought he had taken care of it, but when i got home and opened my Google cal, there was nothing there and now I can't find the "how to" coversations I had found last night.  Does anyone have the "how-to" instructions (I will copy and paste them into a word doc and email them to myself so when I go to xmas dinner at my mom's, I can print them so I'll have a hard-copy when I go back to VZW...for the 3rd time) or know how I can find that string of conversations I had found yesterday?  Any help would be wonderful.
    Merry Christmas and thank you.

        Cadmanl, I'll be happy to provide options for transferring your calendar from your Blackberry to your RAZR. I checked and Google has suspended the use of Google Calendar. Have you ever synced your Blackberry to your computer? If you haven't already, download Blackberry Desktop Software at http://vzam.net/blackberry/. You can sync your Blackberry to Outlook or Outlook Express. Then transfer to Google Calendar using Google Calendar Sync http://bit.ly/UVIY6S. Google Sync will be going away as of 1/20/13.
    Let me know if you need further assistance.

  • I am new to the iPhone 3G S. How do you transfer your information from your old smartphone to your iPhone? Like pictures, ringtones, and contacts?

    How do you transfer your information, like photos, ringtones, and contact information from my Blackberry Torch to my new iPhone 3G S? I am new to the iPhone and don't remember the website I was told at the store in order to do these task. I already registered my phone and set up an AppleID.

    Ringtones from another phone will not work on iphone.
    You will have to create iphone ringtones.  Google will find several ways to do this.
    Contacts, calendars,photos, etc should be on your computer.  From there you can sync them to iphone.

  • How do I transfer saved blackberry contacts to a new phone

    I have backed up my contacts via blackberry desktop manager to my computer. How do I transfer them to a new phone (not a blackberry)? My old phone got wet and no longer works but I have saved my numbers.  If I plug in say a droid, via USB will it just restore or is there something else I need to do?  The backup is saved as a .ipd extension and my computer does not recognize it as a file it can open.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    If you can open the file with your Blackberry Desktop manager and then save it or export it as a csv file or excel file, then you can import it into Backup Assistant and then sync it to the Droid or other phone (that is, if BA is working properly!)
    If BA will not work (it's been really flaky the last couple of months for most people) then you maybe able to at least print out or view your contacts from within the Blackberry Desktop Manager program and manually copy the contacts over to the new phone.
    If anyone else has a more elegant solution, please speak up!!
