How to split a video clip into two separate clips?

Whenever i enter the key word to search for split, it always shows me how to do split edit, or split screen. I do not want that. I just need to know, how to cut a video/audio clip into two pieces, so that I can cut one of them out of the time line....
Could somebody help....
Thanks

I have a sandwich. I have been searching how to split the sandwich but it seems you don't split a sandwich. Someone said look in a draw for a tool or something!
Wow.
There are lots of ways to do what you're asking besides what has been said. You can double click the clip in the Browser. Set In & Out points in the viewer and add the Clip to the sequence. No need to split or cut anything in the sequence.
You really need to learn a bit more before you continue cause this is a pre-noob question. I don't really know how to categorise it.

  • How to split large video files into multiple individual clips by date

Hello. I'm looking for a freeware/shareware program (if one exists, or willing to pay for one if it does this well) that will:
    1) Analyze a large AVI file identifying the start/start points of each segment of video and the dates the video segments were shot.
    2) Then allow me to organize (for example, join 2 or more segments together if it's a video with a lot of start/stop points during the same shot) the segments identified in step 1 into logical clips that could be split apart from the 1 large AVI file.
    3) Lastly, it would split my one large AVI file into the multiple clips or files that I identified in step 2.
A piece of software called FootTrack does a great job analyzing AVI files as I describe in steps 1 & 2, but it doesn't allow you to split or export the one avi file into multiple avi files.
I really don't want to have to do this one clip at a time, I've got to believe there's a program out there that will automate this process for me.
    Thanks

I don't know of a way to automate it. I just did about 15 years worth. It wasn't too hard. I use an application called mpegstreamclip. Its very easy and free to download either from the apple site or direct from its site.

Bascically you set the in and out points with the i and o keys and export.

  • How to split a "project" (movie) into two separate projects.

After converting two Hi-eight tapes into digital format for use with iMovie 10.0.3 (?), I created a movie called "Japan 1994" , complete with titles, imported still photos, etc. But it was over 2 hours long. (My wife considers any movie longer than 29 minutes 59 seconds as cruel and unusual punishment under the U.S. constitution). So I went to Imovie "Help" .....Hah!!!, surfed the web with my problem, with further frustration. So, I devised my own method:
      1. Created two new (empty) movies, "Nihon 1" and "Nihon 2" (Nihon=Japan, in Japanese)
    2. In  "Japan 1994", found a convenient break point rougly half way through, shift selected several clips up to the half way point.
    3. copied all of these at one time (command C)
    4. Opened "Nihon 1" and pasted (command V) these clips into this project.
    5. Repeated steps 2, 3, 4 for the second "half" (into "Nihon 2")
All of this produced two separate projects of around 1 hour each. Added appropriate titles at the beggining and end of each of the new movies.
    Worked like a charm.
Hope this helps other users of iMoive 10. (whatever).

  • How do I make one song into two separate songs?

I have a song on my iTunes that I want to to split into two different songs, each with different names, and that can be played right after each other in the album. Is there an easy way to split up this song into two different parts, and if so, how? Thanks!

That is a common capability of DJ programs, but cannot be done with iTunes.

  • How to split a PE1 project into two smaller projects?

I have a 1hr 36 min. project in PE1.  I want to split it into two different projects of about 48 min. each and burn two DVDs.  My intent is to get a better MPEG resolution for these smaller projects.
Can I select half of the timeline, cut it and paste it into a new project?  Would the effects be preserved?  I have a week of work invested in this project and I don’t want to screw it up!
    Thanks
    Fred J.

    FredJ,
    Welcome to the forum.
I agree with both Neale and Steve, though it might at first appear that they are saying two different things.
The bit-rate in the Transcoding to MPEG-2 will be determined by the Duration of the Timeline and the capacity of the blank media, whether DVD-5, or DVD-9. In most versions of PrE, this bit-rate will be a function of the Quality Slider, but the ultimate bit-rate for the combined video and audio is set in the DVD-specs. One cannot exceed about 8 b/s.
Now, with your Duration, there might be a very slight increase in the bit-rate, were you to take Neale's advice and break your Project into two parts, however, I think that his advice to study the result of your entire Timeline is good, as I doubt that one could tell the differences, unless you have a great deal of fast motion, of either the camera, or the subject, and then it's likely that the quality would appear to be the same to the human eye.
Steve is correct in that the result will have to be within the DVD-specs, and will only be 720x480, at up to that max. bit-rate. That is as good as it gets.
For the ultimate test, I would take Neale's suggestion on Burning to Folder one step further. Once that is done, you can first test your Project with a DVD software program on your computer. BUT, be aware that you are viewing on a higher-rez, progressive computer monitor, and its rez will exceed that of a TV and that of a DVD-Video disc. Thus, it is not a perfect test. To get an idea of how the DVD will look on a set-top player, hooked to a TV, you can either, also burn to a DVD RW (rewritable disc) to test on a set-top player, or you can use the free burning utility, ImgBurn, to burn to a DVD RW and test. The reason for the Rewritable media is so that you can reuse it for testing. You will NOT be using this disc for delivery, but just for testing. Now, if you feel that very slight decrease in bit-rate is noticed, you can go back to his suggestion on how to split the Project, and then produce a multi-disc. set for the Project.
Also, the ultimate quality and also playability of the DVD-Video will be enhanced if you use quality blank media. I strongly recommend Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. Brands like Memorex, TDK, recent Ritek and ALL "store-brands," are to be avoided. One is also best served by buying slower speed media, as PrE will measure the speed of the media and the speed of the drive and try to get you the fastest possible burn. It does not allow you to set the speed of the burn manually. Most people feel that stepping down from a max. burn speed produces a better DVD. I routinely will drop the burn speed (in other software) to about 1/2 of the max., and have had thousands of perfect DVD's. One can set the burn speed in the above mentioned ImgBurn utility.
To distill the above: try it and see if your Project isn't perfect now, and if not, then break it apart into two segments. I doubt that you could tell the difference.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How to split the AP invoice into two invoices

    Dear All..,
Can you tell how can i split the AP vendor invoice which i was posted erlier..i want spil the invoice into two invoices to pay the partial payment to some amount..
For ex : i have poste one invoice with 50000/- rs..and now i want to split this doc into two like 30000 and 20000, and i want to made the payment for through APP for 30000..
Can you tell me the step how to do this..
    Advanced thanks
    Bhargav

If you reverse the original vendor invoice ( credit memo), you can create a new vendor invoice by splitting the amounts with different payment methods. This way APP will pick up only required amount.
Amount split in vendor invoice can be done by activating "Enable amount split" in OBY6 configuration. This will give you an additional tab "Amount split" in vendor invoice.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks,

  • Splitting a family plan into two separate plans.

My ex-boyfriend and I have been sharing a family plan and would like to switch to two separate plans.  I am the primary line on the account.  Can we split our plans at any time or should we wait until both phones are up for the New Every 2?
Also, my line is eligible for a discounted upgrade right now.  I would like to purchase my new phone online to take advantage of the online discount.  Should I upgrade my phone before we go to split our lines?
    Thank you,
    Rachel

You can split at any time, and it will not impact the contract end date on either line.  Your boyfriend may need to pay a deposit to take over the line.  The process is called an Assumption of Liability, and you can do it over the phone with both parties present, or in a store.
If your phone is eligible for an upgrade now, you should do it before the switch, because when you move to an individual plan, if it is of a lower value than your current family plan, your eligibility may change.

  • Can you split an iTunes account into two separate iTunes accounts?

My son and I have shared my iTunes account since he was in junior high. We have both added to it over the years, amassing a huge library.  My son has now left home and joined the military.  At this point we want separate accounts - so we can pay separately for our purchases, back up to our own Clouds, etc.  Can he take his purchased music from my library and move it to his own, new account?  This would leave me with only the music I have purchased, which is fine with me.  The library is currently on both of our computers.

You can't split accounts nor transfer content from one account to another account - content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.
For new purchases he can have his own account, and he can have that and your shared existing account authorised on the computer's iTunes that he uses (Store > Authorise This Computer menu option).
If he uses iTunes Match, automatic downloads or redownloads an account's past purchases then he may tie that computer (or iOS device) to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - so he wouldn't be able to do any of those three things on a different account until the 90 days have completed.

  • How do you cut an imovie clip into two clips?

How do you cut an imovie clip into two clips?  I have a very long clip from which I want to remove the middle (and keep the beginnin and end).

There are several ways to do this. Here are a couple.
    1) Drag the long clip into your project. Drag to select the portion you want to remove. Then right-click/Split Clip. This will give you three clips, the first, the last, and the one in the middle that you want to delete. You can select the middle clip and right-click/Delete Selection.
    2) Drag the long clip into your project. Drag to select the frames you want to delete. Then right-click/Delete Selection.

  • How should I incorporate 60p clips into 24p multicam clips?

I shot a music video recently on a 7D. I have three variety of clips:
    24p
24p shot to slow playback, which needs to be sped up to 132% for sync
60p that needs to be conformed
How should I incorporate these clips into 24p multicam clips. Do I do all the conforming/speed changes in the multicam timeline after making the clip or is there a way to do it prior in the event browser and be able to take advantage of FCPX's syncing?

I'm having difficulty following your description. You shot with one camera and you want  to make a multiclip…so should  I asume you had three separate takes of a performance? And the audio? Is it recorded music that you want the talent lip-syncing to? Or something else?
    Justin Powell! wrote:

Could you also expand upon these statements? Why does the 24p need speeding up and why does the 60p need to be conformed?
With a typical multi-cam shoot, FCP does a great job of syncing different formats, including multiple frame rates. Those usually are synced by matching (automatically) the waveforms of the reference audio in the various cameras and any other sound sources. But yours does not sound like a typical shoot.

  • How to split an A3 page to two A4 pages?

    Hello,
I need to scan an A4 booklet to upload, but I cannot cut it in order to have a bunch of pages to scan.
Therefore I'm scanning it spread on a fladbed scanner, resulting in a series of A3 spreads.
How can I split these A3 pages into two A4 pages each, preferrably in batch mode, so as not to repeat this work? Using the crop tool is too slow.
    Thanks.

This requires I do at least 3 actions per page, and with a few dozen to a few hundred pages to do, it's way too slow, not to mention the fact that doing each by hand will probably cause the crops to be uneven.
Is there any way to automate it?
    Thanks anyway,

  • Split one salesorder item into two items in delivery

We want to split one salesorder item into two different items in the same delivery.
This is because we will pick the material from two different storage locations.
Any user-exit to use for solving this?
    Best regards,
    Terje

    Hi,
We are not using batch management.
I have looked into the foreign trade/customs standard functionality in SAP, but I can not see that them difference in stock in SAP what is duty paid or not.
We need to have documentation in the system for the custom goverement for what stock is duty paid and not.
For the same material we can have stock which are duty paid and not duty paid. This is decided when we do the goods receipt.
For stock coming from Asia, it is profitable to have this on not duty paid stock since we are exporting it back to Europe and Asia later.
We will send import and export EDI messages to a third party custom application handling all the papers with the custom goverement.
The only we need to make track on in SAP is the stock for what is duty paid and not.
In some situations we need to take stock from both duty paid stock and not duty paid stock when we deliver the same material to a customer. Therefor I asked the question of splitting one delivery item into two items.
    Best regards,
    Terje
