How to "split" iTunes accounts?

I have recently moved out of my parent's house for college. Previously, I shared an iTunes account with them (and I've invested much of my own money into this account). Now I want to "split" accounts, as it is currently linked to my mother's credit card. I highly doubt there is a way to legally do this, but I'm hoping there is. So, can I somehow keep all of the files from our iTunes account and move them to a new one (I've tried to download the content to my computer and switch accounts to my new one but then I must "authorize" with the old account)?

Is it just music or do you have videos, ringtones or apps for iOS?

Create a Smart playlist where Kind contains "protected". Use that to judge how much you have to upgrade.
The other option (also legal FYI) is to burn Audio CD's of the music & then re-rip it to your Mac. You must use the 'audio CD option' and when re-importing the tags can easily fail to look up in CDDB because the CD is not identical to a purchased one. I would burn as A full albums to give you a hope of tagging the files correctly. This is a painful solution, but it can allow you to play the music without the authentication issues. it also does not hurt to have backups of purchases on other disks - Apple cannot keep all downloads in the store (the rights holders remove them) so iTunes Cloud may not have files you purchased sometime ago.

How to share iTunes account?

Hi, i'm sure i'm not the only one thats asked this question so hopefully theres an answer out there somewhere already?
I'm a father of 5 (yes thats 5 children!) and we are an 'Apple Family'. Between us we have 4 Macbook Pros, 1 iPad, 3 iPad Minis and 3 iPhones. At the moment 2 Macbook Pros, 1 iPad, 3 iPad minis and 2 of the iPhones are using a shared iTunes account, now my son has just got a new Macbook Pro i've got to the point where it won't let me add anymore hardware to this account...
I first saw the details about this 'Family Sharing' possibility with the IOS 8 and Yosemite and thought this sounded exactly what I was after, however this only supports 5 users and I have 7!
Is there anyway I can set up a total of 11 Apple products on the same iTunes account, and if not how best would I set this up? Can I have 2 iTunes accounts with different usernames but the same credit card details? is this the best way? If I did it this way I would have to purchase things twice?
Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated..

hold the shift key down (on pc) or options key (alt on mac) when opening itunes then you can find library
I use a library under a shared folder on my pc
do that for both user accounts and it will always open that library

Hi, My teenaged daughter and i each have our own individual iPod touch.
We used to use the same computer to sync our devices and now seem to have one library even though we have our own apple ID's. It is very time consuming to have to change the settings for syncing every time we want to sync, and getting her mother's music on her ipod is a disaster!
We each have our own Apple ID and i could have her sync on ald PC while i sync on the imac if necessary, but how do i separate the iTunes accounts into 2 clearly separate ones, please?

How to cancel iTunes account??

I accidentally created two iTunes accounts with two different email addresses. I want to cancel one but cannot figure out how to do it. I tried just going to account info and deleting my CC#, but it wouldn't let me do that. Makes me nervous to have my CC info floating around on an unused account, so I really do want to get rid of the extraneous one. Thanks!

You can't cancel an account yourself, but you should be able to set your credit card details to zeros, or set you credit card to None.
If you want the account cancelled you have to contact Apple. There is an email form on the Store FAQ:

Copy \Music\iTunes\iTunes music\ folder to the memory stick.
Plug it into your MacBook.
Open iTunes.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced. Tick *Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library*.
Now go to iTunes menu File -> Add to library anbd select the *iTunes music folder* on the memory stick then click Ok.

Best way to split itunes account?

So I have just graduated from high school and I am moving onto college in the fall. Me and my sister have shared an itunes account for forever (mainly PC used) now but since I just got a macbook for college I am looking for and easy way to split these accounts so that she has her own. My original idea was to make her her own under her own e-mail and import all of our shared music from a back up, similar to importing a cd. Then I would import the songs to my mac book (older purchases and songs off CDs not downloadable through cloud). at this point I could go through and delete any of her songs that I didn't want and she could do the same. this would give us our own libraries and the new downloads would come to each separate account based on the purchaser. I am almost positive that this is the best way to do this but if anyone has any input, tips or completely separate suggestions I would love to hear them.

They can be used in her iTunes library (on a computer) but they will always be part of your iTunes account (used to make purchases).

I believe her data is connected to her Apple ID. Maybe you could buy her Apple ID from her, also ... :-) ... otherwise, I believe you're out of luck.

If it were me I'd go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
This will wipe all of your info, apps, music, etc, from the phone and allow your sister to set it up "as new" with her own iTunes and AT&T accounts.
This procedure can take a while so I'd have the phone plugged in and allow a couple of hours for it to complete =0)
