How to split one big file in java

Hi,
I have some big files ( size about 100MB). I can't use them in my program, and I want to split them to some smaller files. The filesformat is XML, I am using the Xerces Paser.
Any solution is welcome.
Thanks
vq

What do you mean, split? Of course your parser can't deal with a 100MB XML file, it is building a tree representation in memory and you don't have that much memory. Solution: don't generate files that big.

  • How to split one big master clip into many?

    Hi,
    This is probably a simple question for you pros. Thank you for reading.
    I have film that I've telecined onto a DV. However, FCP imported a one hour tape as one big master clip. Is there a way I can split this master clip into several small clips so I can organize my project?
    Does that make sense?
    Thank you in advance,
    Nik

    Since you telecined onto DV I guess there are no Date&Time gaps between scenes, so you cannot use DV Start/Stop Detect. Then the only way I can think of is to do it manually: open the clip in the viewer, select the first scene by setting its IN and OUT points, edit to the timeline, back to the viewer select the next scene setting a new pair of IN and OUT points, edit to the timeline, etc.
    If you prefer you can move each new clip to the browser, and collect them together into a bin, before editing them to the timeline.

  • How to split a big file into several small files using XI

    Hi,
    Is there any way to split a huge file into small files using XI.
    Thanks
    Mukesh

    There is a how to guide for using file adapters, an "sdn search" will get you the document.
    Based on that , read a file into XI, Use strings to store the file content and do the split
    here is some code to get you started
    ===========
    Pseudocode:
    ===========
    // This can be passed in - however many output files to which the source is split
    numOutputFiles = 5;
    // Create the same number of filehandles as numOutputFiles specifies
    open file1, file2, file3, file4, file5;
    // Create an Array to hold the references to those filehandles
    Array[5] fileHandles = {file1, file2, file3, file5, file5};
    // Initialize a loop counter
    int loopCounter = 0;
    // a temporary holder to "point" the output stream to the correct output file
    File currentOutputFile = null;
    // loop through your input file
    while (sourceFile.nextLine != null)
    loopCounter++;
    if (loopCounter == (numOutputFiles +1) // you've reached 5, loop back
    loopCounter = 1;
    currentOutputFile = fileHandles[loopCounter]; // gets the output file at that index of the array
    currentOutputFile.write(sourceFile.nextLine);

  • How to split one long file into multiple tracks?

    I have a single-file recording of a vinyl record (containing multiple sequential tracks) that I want to export to multiple separate tracks. Is it possible to take thisfile of audio, add markers to it and export that file from multitrack view into separate tracks? I know its possible to do it using markers and to export a CD list and the burning to CD, but can you export to multiple gapless WAV files instead, with the markers as track/split points?
    I am not burning to CD, just wanting to keep the tracks as files.

    Once you have added your markers and merged as for making a CD you can then use the Batch Process Marker Regions (next icon along from the Merge icon in Marker list) to save out the marked regions as individual files.

  • How to split a MP3 file into several files?

    Hi, I have Adobe Audition 3 and I would like to split one big MP3 file (an album) into separata tracks (and save it as separate MP3 files).
    How can I do this the fastest/least tedious way?
    And will the MP3 be preserved or will it encode it again (I don't want that).
    Please help, thank you!

    I have no idea about Adobe Audition 3.
    To split a whole album in FLAC, MP3, WAV, etc formats with CUE or chapter, i recommend you a full guide at: CUE Splitter - Split MP3, FLAC, APE, WAV, DTS, WMA, OGG, etc
    It easy and helpful.

    Ain't gonna happen.
    its taking more time to execute .... that's y is there any other option to execute .exe file other than Runtime.getRuntime().exec("filename");Write proper English and you may be taken more seriously.
    1) it's not "taking more time to execute", whatever that's supposed to mean.
    2) there's no other way to execute something. Not that you should every use even that way anyway
    3) whenever you start thinking of executing external programs from Java, start thinking of not using Java in the first place.

  • How to create the exe files for java application

    How to create the exe file for java application?
    got any software to do that?
    Thanks

    In terms of converting java applications into exe files, there are 3 schools of thought:
    1) Instead of converting it to an exe, convert it to a jar file. Jar files are more portable than exe files because they can be double-clicked on any operating system. The caveat is that a Java interpreter must be installed on the target computer for the double-clicking to work.
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/JAR/
    2) Create an exe launcher that, when double-clicked, attempts to find a Java interpreter on the local computer and launches the Java application. The exe file is still double-clickable but whether your java application runs depends on whether a Java interpretor is installed on the target computer.

    http://www.jelude.cjb.net/
    http://thor.prohosting.com/~dfolly/java/index.html
    3) Create an exe launcher that bundles a Java interpretor. Same as above but when the exe file is double-clicked, it searches for a Java interpreter and if one is not found, it installs one on the target computer. The caveat is that the exe file would have an overhead of 10 MB in size for the interpreter.
    http://www.excelsior-usa.com/jet.html (evaluation version available)
    4) Convert the Java application into a native exe file. The caveat is that if you use Swing for your GUI, it won't be converted. Also this option is still somewhat experimental.
    Can't think of any free options right now.

  • How to SPLIT ONE STEREO TRACK'S L & R CHANNELS INTO TWO MONO CHANNELS

    Does anyone know if this is possible: How to SPLIT ONE STEREO TRACK'S L & R CHANNELS INTO TWO MONO CHANNELS?  There's got to be a way, but I just can't find out how.
    I recorded a podcast -- me and a guest, with each mic going to its own mono channel. When I opened it in Audition it mixed them into one stereo channel.

  • HOw to create a Batch file for java application and whats the use of this ?

    HI,
    How to create a Batch file for java application ?
    And whats the use of creating batch file ?
    Thanks in advance

    First of all, you're OT.
    Second, you can find this everywhere in the net.
    If you got a manifest declaring main class (an classpath if needed), just create a file named whatever.bat, within same directory of jar file, containing:
    javaw -jar ./WhateverTheNameOfYourJarIs.jar %*By the way, assuming a Windows OS, you can just double click the jar file (no batch is needed).
    Otherwise use:
    javaw -cp listOfJarsAndDirectoriesSeparedBySemiColon country/company/application/package/className %*Where 'country/company/application/package/' just stands for a package path using '/' as separator instead of '.'
    Don't specify the .class extension.
    Javaw only works on Windows (you asked for batch, I assumed .BAT, no .sh), in Linux please use java.exe (path may be needed, Windows doesn't need it 'cause java's executables are copied to system32 folder in order to be always available, see PATH environment variable if you don't know what I'm talking about) and use ':' as classpath (cp) separator.
    The '%***' tail is there in order to pass all parameters, it only works on Windows, refer to your shell docs for other OSs (something like $* may work).
    This way you have a command you can call to launch your code (instead of opening NetBeans just to see your app working). You could schedule tasks on it or just call it in any command prompt (hope you know what it is 'cause there have been people in this very same forum with no clue about it, if not just hold the 'Windows button' and press 'R', then type 'cmd' and run it).
    Finally add dukes and give 'hem away.
    Bye.

  • How to read a text file using Java

    Guys,
    Good day!
    Please help me how to read a text file using Java and create/convert that text file into XML.
    Thanks and God Bless.
    Regards,
    I-Talk

         public void fileRead(){
                 File aFile =new File("myFile.txt");
             BufferedReader input = null;
             try {
               input = new BufferedReader( new FileReader(aFile) );
               String line = null;
               while (( line = input.readLine()) != null){
             catch (FileNotFoundException ex) {
               ex.printStackTrace();
             catch (IOException ex){
               ex.printStackTrace();
         }This code is to read a text file. But there is no such thing that will convert your text file to xml file. You have to have a defined XML format. Then you can read your data from text files and insert them inside your xml text. Or you may like to read xml tags from text files and insert your own data. The file format of .txt and .xml is far too different.
    cheers
