How To Split the String for "."

Hi Friends
I am Using Following Code to Split one String.
String str = "Jeetendra.choudhary";
String[] sp_str = str.split(".");
wdComponentApi.getMessageManager.reportSuccess(str[0]);
wdComponentApi.getMessageManager.reportSuccess(str[1]);
but its throwing null pointer exception.
when i am using following code its working fine.
String str = "Jeetendra/choudhary";
String[] sp_str = str.split("/");
wdComponentApi.getMessageManager.reportSuccess(str[0]);
wdComponentApi.getMessageManager.reportSuccess(str[1]);
what may be the issue and how to split the string with "." ?

"." is a special character.
Use
str.split("\\.");

How to Split the string using Substr and instr using loop condition

Hi every body,
I have below requirement.
I need to split the string and append with single quotes('') followed by , (comma) and reassign entire values into another variable. so that i can use it where clause of update statement
for example I am reciveing value as follows
ALN varchar2(2000):=(12ERE-3MT-4Y,4IT-5O-SD,OP-K5-456,P04-SFS9-098,90P-SSF-334,3434-KJ4-O28,AS3-SFS0-J33,989-3KL-3434);
Note: In the above variable i see 8 transactions, where as in real scenario i donot how many transaction i may recive.
after modification i need above transactions should in below format
ALTR Varchar2(2000):=('12ERE-3MT-4Y','4IT-5O-SD','OP-K5-456','P04-SFS9-098','90P-SSF-334','3434-KJ4-O28','AS3-SFS0-J33','989-3KL-3434');
kindly help how to use substr and instr in normal loop or for loop or while loop while modifying the above transactions.

How to split the string from character position.

HI ALL,
I need to split the string like this.
example:
String = "HelloWorld"
mid("HelloWorld", 2, 5);
it should print "ello"
menas mid is functiuon it will split "HelloWorld" from 2nd character to 5th character and prints "ello".
This one how to do in labview.

How to split a string for 2 different matching patterns?

hey guys
i'm trying to split a string, using .split(regular expression), if two different pattern matches but i don't know the exact syntax for it. I want to split the string from letters and punctuations.
This is what i'm doing, obviously it's not working, i'm not too sure if syntax are correct.

sy-index will give u the iteration number.
first of all in this program u are counting the length of the string and it was in variable LEN.
we are always printing the string from 0 index(1st character) to POS number of characters.
length is 5 so LNG = 5 * 2 = 10 and LNG = 10 - 1 = 9.and first sy-index = 1.so,1 <= 5 so POS = 0 + 1 = 1. it is printing the first char
second sy-index = 2.so,2 <= 5 so POS = 1 + 1 = 2. it is printing the first two chars
third sy-index = 3.so,3 <= 5 so POS = 2 + 1 = 3. it is printing the first three chars
forth sy-index = 4.so,4 <= 5 so POS = 3 + 1 = 4. it is printing the first four chars
fifth sy-index = 5.so,5 <= 5 so POS = 4 + 1 = 5. it is printing the first five chars
sixth sy-index = 6.so,6 > 5 so POS = 5 - 1 = 4. it is printing the first four chars
seventh sy-index = 7.so,7 > 5 so POS = 4 - 1 = 3. it is printing the first three chars

I need to do some printing in my application. I just want to know how can I get the width of the string when it is printed on the paper.
I have tried to use the following code to get the width
Rectangle2D rec = font.getStringBounds(str, new FontRenderContext(null, true, true));
double width = rec.getWidth();
however, the width I got from that function is not correct (the returned width is longer than the printed one)
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

The getFontMetrics(Font) is also defined in the Component class and therefore you can retrieve it even if you dont override the paint method.
try the following (provided ur code extends some class that extends Component indirectly)
FontMetrics f = this.getFontMetrics(this.getFont());
int width = f.stringWidth(str); //str is the String for which u need to check the width.

I am having a string which is of more than lenght 4000 so i am using BLOB datatype as input to get the string.
need to split the blob in oracle and store in the different column
The string is of bytearray i need to strore it in each column based on the byte array.

this will be my input i need to split the above and store it in different columns in a table.
for spliting say
Column1 -1 byte
Column2-3 byte
Column3-5 byte
ColumnN-5 byte
Table will have corresponding data type
Column1 - number(10,2)
Column2 - Float
Column3 - Float
ColumnN-Float
here Column2 datatype is float but it will always have 3 byte information.
where as Column3 datatype is also float but it will always have 5 byte information.
Say N is Column 120

Without further info, you best bet will probably be to convert the number into a String and extract the characters for whatever purpose you need of them, and convert each back to a Number if that is your ultimate use for them.

Using VB code, I am attempting to modify a Crystal Report before exporting it into a PDF format and then displaying it on the Web.
My problem is that I am unable to access the formula used to dynamically suppress a field.
The following code is working:

I can not find any reference to the actual suppression formula in the SDK help file.
Note, the EnableSuppress can be set to True for False, but if there is a formula for dynamic suppression, the True or False value is overwritten. The results of the formula determine the suppression.
Is there a way to reference this formula. I know that I can put on in using the Crystal Report Designer software, I need to modify this formula using VB code and the SDK.

If you are using the ReportDocument object you do not have access to the Conditional Suppression formula. You can get around it by using a formula field in the report for the supression and then using the FormulaField code to change it at runtime.
If you want to change the supression condition directly at runtime you need to use RAS and the ReportClientDocument.

I am working on making the transition to Numbers, and for the most part love the flexibility of the new program. However, this lack of being able to open a new window in the same sheet is frustrating. Let me give you my situation, and if anyone has any thoughts I'd be most appreciative!
I run a competition that has 30+ competitors all needing separate scoresheets. Those overall scores for each group need to be summarized on a separate page. In Excel, I had a separate sheet for each competitor, and then I linked cells from those sheets to the summary sheet. This was made easy as I could have one window open with the individual competitors sheet, and another window open with the summary sheet.
When I tried to implement this in Numbers (admittedly I approached the problem with an Excel mindset) I set up my separate sheets for each competitor, and now that I'm in the stage of making the summary sheets, I need to click on the cell in the summary sheet, find the referenced sheet in the sheet list, click on it, find the proper cell, click on it... There are over a dozen references per sheet. I have not been able to find a satisfactory work around in Numbers.
Even if I set up each individual competitor as it's own table, and the summary as it's own table, all in the same sheet, I would still not be able to view both the summary and the competitor tables at the same time without scrolling back and forth. I'm not seeing how Numbers makes my life easier in this regard.
Any thoughts?

The video I want to create is look like a cubic, with my face all around the centre and looking to her ( a video of her will be in the centre) and 8 different video of mine looking to hers.
Put the clip(s) of you on 8 different video tracks in the timeline above each other, and the clip of the girl you want in the center on a 9th video track.
Double-click one of the clips to open it into the viewer. Click the motion tab. There, adjust the scale value so it is the right size and the center value so that it is correctly positioned. Repeat for the other 8 video tracks.
