That shows you that iPhoto is working correctly and whatever issue you are having is based in your original library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have switched computers - old one stolen - and lost access to my 800 or so song library. I started a new library. Is there any way I can retrieve my old library and add it to the new one?

Start a new library

Basically I'd like to start a new library for 2012 and make it the default. The one that syncs with iTunes. What would be the easiest process to do this? I have quite a few pictures, in the 20K range....

There is no default Library. When you open Aperture via the application "Aperture" it automatically opens the Library that was open when it was last closed. So the easy part of your question is answered: just create a new Library, and close Aperture. Next time you open Aperture, your new Library will be opened.
Syncing with iTunes should follow ... but I don't know the details.
You should upgrade your OS to the most recent version, which for 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is 10.6.8. Also upgrade Aperture to 3.2.2 if you have not.
Most importantly -- -- you greatly reduce Aperture's utility when you create separate Libraries. Why are you creating a new Library for the new year? (20K Images is probably closer to average than to "a lot" -- but it doesn't matter: part of the genius of Aperture is how it uses your available hardware. A Library with a quarter million Images runs almost as well as a Library with just 10,000.)

Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

After lots of tries, and going nowhere, I bit the bait and started a new library

Hi,
After going nowhere with my old B4.1 library, and spending too much time on it, I decided to start fresh, and just export the XMP files, as suggested by several people here.
After a failed attempt at exporting all of the 24,000 pictures XMPs (left the computer doing it at the night but when I came LR had crashed), I decided to export only the last year of photos (where adjustments were mostly made with LR). It took a while, failed to do that for 2 pictures (over 5,500 or so), but it finished.
So, yesterday I moved around the pictures in my HD (a reorder was needed anyway), and start the import... finished today, it gave some problems ("different files had different errors" but the errors were nowhere to be seen, I believe some of them are related to PSD without the compatibility flag, but without the exact error that LR is seeing, it's really hard to know, or worse, to fix it - another thing that IMHO needs to be solved) with some files, but almost all of the photos were in.
I had also been thinking about using DNG for a long while (I always use raw in my camera, a 20D and previously a Digital Rebel)... and this morning I decided to convert all of my library to DNG. It's been working for a big while (Activity Monitor displays 4 hours and a half of CPU time for LR), after a crash when doing the first 1,500 or so. Anyway, it has still maybe 65% of my library to go, so it's going to take easily all day. Fortunately this operation uses several threads/processors, not like the exporting of XMP, that seems to use only one, which is... well... 1/4 of the processing power of my mac :-) (hint hint Adobe!)
Anyway, let's hope tomorrow I can finally start working and seeing the new things that the release version of LR has. Have read some reviews and parts of the manual, and it really looks promising.
Thanks Sean and Geoff for the help with my corrupted library, I still haven't got answer from Adobe customer service (no surprise here, I'm still waiting for response or at least aknowledge from a case I opened almost 15 days ago...), but maybe it's better starting with a new library than reimporting an old one in who knows what conditions...

Well... too late :-)... as I said, it only crashed me once, and I really don't know why. I see that another thread is running, "Acumulating metadata" that I would like to stop, but it doesn't seem to stop. So far everything has been running smoothly, so I expect the 65% that still needs processing will end correctly.
If I get some problem I'll with smaller batches... but I sure hope this ends by itself. I still get the creeps of thinking of going picture by picture as I did some days ago trying to fix my library import issues...

Anyway, onto your question. I personally think the best avenue of attack is to:
- join an organization that is already running SAP, even if it is in some junior position
- make it clear that you are very interested in SAP SD and are willing to do all the training etc yourself
- grab every opportunity you can to learn SAP SD on-the-job
There is little point getting certified if you have no experience. I don't think it improves your chances of getting a job (and it can be quite expensive).

You can't currently do this in BBM or SMS. Maybe this will be added in a future update.
As a workaround, you could type what you need in Docs To Go, and then copy and paste it into BBM or SMS.

I need to create a new Library and then add some folders\shortcuts to it and I can't figure it out. SHLIB is not on my systems and CMD commands don't seem to work either. I have to automate this as part of an CM2012 OSD build process so it has

That is the way the iphone works.
You need to copy everything from your backup copy of your computer.

As always, there are several solutions to the problem. A
simple one is:
1. Create a table with the newsletter texts (so that the
users can add new newsletters and send them out)
2. Make a query with the users to receive the newsletter
3. Make a query with the text you want to send out
4. Use CFMAIL with a query attribute to loop through the
query with the users
5. Within the body of the CFMAIL tag display the content of
the newsletter text to be added to the email
I'm sure there other and better practices out there - but
that's one that will work well for a smaller scale project. Don't
forget error catching as cfmail will fail if the email address is
in an invalid format (i.e. thisHasA [email protected]).

How to make a new library visible for programs

I have made dietlibc package at the Arch section of Linux Vserver wiki Now the new version of util-vserver is out and I got problems - util-vserver can't find dietlibc anymore.
How could I make that library visible for util-vserver? util-vserver's configure only has option --disable-dietlibc and there is no possibility to give the location. This far I have tried to add the path to $PATH at .bashrc - but still configure does not find the library.

No problem anymore with vserver, I managed to guess what must be the location for dietlibc that works. Perhaps this problem was because util-vserver assumed /usr/lib/diet to be the location and also /usr/lib/diet/bin to be at $PATH.
