How to start a slideshow not from the first photo in iPhone 11?

In iPhoto 06 and 08 I could start, or restart, a slideshow from any photo by simply clicking on this photo in the 'filmstream' and then click 'start'. This appears to be no longer possible in iPhoto 11; e.g. the slideshow always starts with the first photo in the filmstream. Why?

Can anyone tell me the rational behind why something that once worked beautifully in older versions of iPhoto, the latest iPhoto now works differently. Experience and annoyance like this once brought me into the Apple universe shunning Microsoft.
I got used to, and used it often in my presentations, to start a saved slideshow from any slide I selected in the photo browser. My presentations are from several trips throughout the year in chronological order, displaying unattended in the background at annual social parties. But often party guests would come up and request to see photos from a specific trip. It was easy to stop the show and restart it from anywhere in the stream. I fail to understand why this feature was removed.

The most straightforward way (assuming your iPhone 3GS is running iOS 6, which it should be) is to use iCloud to house your contacts.
Then it would be trivial to have your contacts synced and maintained between your MacBook Pro and your iPhone.

Please note that these instructions (suggestions) have not yet been confirmed to work. I have however provided similar instructions for recovering contacts, calendars etc, which have.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Recovering your notes is quite time consuming, you may wish not to save all your notes to save some time, if they are not of importance.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Open the 'Notes' app, and open your first note (assuming your deleted notes have now been restored).
Select the share option at the foot of the screen (rectangle with arrow) and choose mail.
Send the email to yourself (If they won't send, save them to draft)
Repeat steps 7 & 8, until you have copied all the notes you wish to save to email.
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and make sure 'Notes' syncing is enabled.
Open the 'Notes' app, check that iCloud notes have reverted to how they were before starting the restore.
Open the 'Mail' app and open the first email you sent yourself and copy the text you want in the note.
Open the 'Notes' app and create a new note in the iCloud, paste the text you copied.
Go to iCloud.com on a computer and check that the note has synced to iCloud.
Repeat steps 12, 13 & 14 until you have recovered all your notes.
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

How to start midi event playing from the middle of event?

I'm not sure if my post title is correct but...
I have a two minute piece of music with various instruments playing. There are some strings that play the same couple of notes throughout.
At the moment I am working on a middle section but as I loop, the srings aren't triggered - I have to play from the start (before the event starts). I did not have a problem with Cubase but I can't find a way to do this in Logic.
It's probaly quit simple though?

This typically means the midi notes themselves start before the beginning of the loop point you have choosen
You can quantize or manually move the first notes so that they start at the beginning of the loop and not just before... to resolve this..
Select the regions and then check the event list for the region to confirm this is what is going on...

I am losing notes when I changed from an iPhone 4s to the iPhone 5, There is no dependable way to back up notes per se as notes on the apple app are incorporated into the mail program and linked to an email address that i never use and to further complicate only backs up using iCloud which I also never use and do not trust.
Is is possible to back up notes in a straightforward manner to my computer? If not, is there a 3rd party app that allows notes and the straightforward backing up of notes? Taking notes is important to my business and I have lost many notes already using the Apple Notes app.

I am using USB cable to sync, I have looked in Apple Mail (I'm on a Mac) and most of my notes are gone, they have never transferred over completely and only about 1/8th of my notes, only those from years ago are there.
Why not use differing software such as Evernote that allows syncing with PC/Mac and has a host of other uses over and above the basic notes app.
This is the way I need to go. The Apple 'notes' app has never functioned depenably and there is no way to back it up dependably, by my experience anyway. I have just purchased an App called 'Note Anytime, which is overly complicated for what I want which is just straightforward note taking capability with straightforward backup that I can use like any other files that need to be backed up, not through a mail pogram that I never use and does not work anyway.
I'll look into Evernote and thank you for that tip.
If your doing other stuff document creation etc you should be using Pages or something like Documents to Go.
I am a publisher by profession and use the full Adobe CC suite including InDesign for publishing. I also use Microsoft Office for the Mac for the times I need to work with Word documents. So, I'm covered in that department. Once I am able to save Notes as text files on my computer, I may have use to import those notes into publishing or word processing software also.
If paranoid or have sensitive data that you don't want sent via a conduit then you shouldn't be using a tablet of any discription as these are by definition Internet devices.
No paranoya here, just looking for a dependable note taking app that doesn't use a convoluted process to make a backup and doesn't 'drop' notes or lose them mysteriously.

I don't want to just delete podcasts - i finally figured that out. I want to delete the whole subscription so it does not show up any more on my catalog screen.
I deleted it from itunes, but it does not seem that itunes syncs with the new podcast app.

(on an iPhone 4s with ios6) Not really the catalog screen.   Actually is a Library view. And one may not see an Edit button, if one is in the middle of the list of podcasts.
Unstated, in the Library list podcasts, if one scrolls to the top of the fat podcast icons, before the first ones, then one sees Edit come into view. For that matter, the line with Edit also has the search box and can also change that view from fat podcast icons (4 showing) to a list view (about 7).     If in list mode, then pushing Edit gives one red minus, press that, and gets a Delete choice.. If fat icon view mode, or an x shows up, pressing that, and wham it be gone.   No chance to for second thoughts. What did I delete?   Don't know.
On iPad, finding the Edit button is easy.   If viewing the podcasts, either way, the Edit button stays in the upper left location and can be seen.    No scrolling needed.

Hi maliappleid,
Sounds like you need to go into Settings>iCloud and sign on your Apple/iCloud ID. You cannot access iCloud via the browser on an iOS device. You need to have iCloud signed on on your device. Once you get iCloud signed on, turn on the items you want sync'd to your device from iCloud. Once you are connected to Wifi, these items will sync to your device.

The MOD files are actually mpeg2 files and should be able to be converted using mpegstreamclip, although you may have to manually change the file extension to mpg.

RENDER IN H264 CRASH .... BUT NOT FROM THE FIRST INSTALLATION

After a lot of uses, the export of a 4min video clip my adobe cs6 installation crashes when i chose H264 but do well with the same as project rendering (my material is MOV from a CANON 70D). I reinstall the whole O.S. WINDOWS 7 64 and the full ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE CS6 and the upgrade from internet. I use QT 7.7.5 full version. Can someone help me ? I use a i7 3770k with nvidia gtx 470 with CUDA acceleration select in premiere pro. Also if I use AME I have the same problem. (excuse for my bad english)

120GB SDD with the Adobe Suite Installed.

I have 2 years with this pc and at the beginning i didn't experience any issue with rendering of any kind, but this last year i can't render any video on H.264 or any compressed codec because at the middle of the rendering the render crashes, or the program, or even the pc crashes giving me a Blue Screen. It just renders h.264 when is a really short video without too much editing, but the most times i end rendering in AVI because i dind't have any other option and i don't like AVI too much because it takes a lot of HDD Space.
This happens on every editing or rendering program, like Premiere, AE and even on Adobe Media Encoder.
I've been searching for months and have not found anything that helps me with this problem yet, the only approaching i've found is that it would be a Overheat Problem with the CPU, because my CPU reach the max temperature every time i render, but i removed all the dust in the case and fans and left them clean, and the problem still persists and the CPU temperature didn't change that much. The last thing i'll do about this is to buy 2 more fans for my case and try another CPU Fan instead of the standard.

It depends on how she saved them on iCloud. Check your contacts on icloud.com from your computer. If they are there, all you need to do is go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your iCloud ID, then turn Contacts to On.
If your contacts aren't on icloud.com, she may have simply backed up your phone to iCloud. If that's the case, you would have to restore the backup to your new phone by going to Settings>General>Reset, tapping Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.
