  • How to subscribe to a group space in Oracle Web Center application

    Hi All,
I am a newbie to Oracle Web Center and playing in and around with the Oracle WebCenter Spaces..
At the time of creation of Group Space in Oracle WebCenter Application, there are two options :
    1. Adding the members by the owner of the group space
    2. Opening the open group space which allows others users can join by searching the specified GroupSpace and joining into that group space.
If i try to do like this, I was getting this error :
WCS#2010.07.21.15.05.39: Unable to send subscription notification to moderator(s). The reason is : Can not retrieve group space workflow configuration. Please contact administrator.
Can anyone please help me to solve this out..
    Thanks in advance

    Sandeep,
To get this notifications to work, you need to setup BPEL and connect WebCenter to your BPEL server.

  • Oracle Web Center New Features Demo

    Hi,
Does anybody have oracle web center new features demo?
It will be great, If you can share it.
Documentation states that, It has features like below:
New capabilities to operate on multiple assets efficiently, including bulk deletion, approval, and bookmarking. These operations are conveniently available from search results screens. Operations can be executed by selecting multiple assets and pressing a single button.
But I can not perform bulk delete asset.
Documentation also states that, It has features like Drag And Drop:
My understanding from the documentation is an asset's attributes are dragged and dropped into advanced UI. Pls correct me, If I am wrong.
Is there any demo available for drag and drop feature of oracle 11g webcenter?
Documentation also states that, It has features like customizable dash board:
New customizable dashboard: A customizable dashboard is now provided out-of-the-box. Widgets to manage assignments, bookmarks, and checkouts are included. Widgets can be rearranged on the dashboard using simple drag-and-drop, and custom widgets can be added to satisfy unique business needs.
Pls let me know, where the dashboard is available and how to implement the above mentioned features.

    Hi,
If you mean video demo, then there is a link to it on WebCenter blog (https://blogs.oracle.com/webcenter/) - On Demand Webcast - Introducing Oracle WebCenter Sites: Transforming the Online Experience. You can start from ~ 10th minute to see content administration.
    Direct link: http://event.on24.com/r.htm?e=452133&s=1&k=FCDEB088AD5C4685EB385DBC59393F31&partnerref=odblog (requires registration).
"dropped into advanced UI." - There is no more advanced UI, there is an Admin UI and New tab-based Contributor Interface which merge an Insite and Dash and somehow Advanced Interfaces together.

    Hi,
You can use: startManagedWebLogic.sh, it is in your domain directory and you have to execute it in this way
    ./startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServerName http://adminServerHost:adminServerPort
For instance, in my case I use:
    unixserv01:/webportal/domains/appServerWeb/bin>startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServ01 http://pelma3w3per01.mesaperu.next:7001
You have to run it on the machine where the managed server was installed.

  • Oracle Web Center Suite and Oracle Portal

1)What is Oracle Portal and why it is used?
2)What is Oracle Web Center Suite and why it is used?
3)What is the difference between Oracle Portal and Oracle Web Center Suite?

    1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
    2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter suite comes with Webcenter spaces. THis is a complete UI to create collaborative websites.
Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
    3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
    Hope this helps you :)

  • How to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?

    Folks,
Hello. I have just installed Oracle Client into directory /home/myOracle/Oracle_Client. But I don't know how to start and configure the client to access Oracle Database.
Can any folk tell me how to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?

    user13764998 wrote:
I have earlier managed to install the Oracle Client (32-bit) in 32-bit clients and servers Oracle Client 10.
The reason that it went well before was the exellent setup and configurationprograms we got with that version. It seems you are confusing the "full" Datbase Client with Instant Client.
Now I'm trying to install the Oracle Instant Client 11g R2 both 32-bit and 64 (of the latest revision) on a 64-bit Windows 2008 Server .
I have managed to install the driver but the setup doesn't give me any Net Configuration Assistant or Net Manager to help with the configuration. What setup? Are you not using just the zip files?
What are you installing exactly, i.e. what install media (file) did you download?
So I haven't succeded in configuring it despite I I read the readme-info that comes with the Instant Client files. There's not much to configure - that's sort of the point of Instant Client. Just drop a few files in a folder, set PATH and off you go.
    Doesn't <instant client dir>\sqlplus user@'hostname/servicename' work?

  • How to start manually an oracle 8i database with a bat file?

    Hi all,
I know it's not the place but it is a really common question: how can i start manually an oracle 8i database on windows 2000 without using a service? I don't remember the command. I tried: oracle start SID without success...
    Thanks
    JMi

    Dear JMD,
If you would like to startup the Oracle instance using a batch file then first create a SQL file (say ABC.SQL) wherein enter the following two lines:
    connect internal/<INTERNAL_PASSWORD>
    STARTUP
<INTERNAL_PASSWORD> above is the password for the INTERNAL user account (default password is "oracle")
Then create a batch file (say START.BAT) and enter the following single line:
    <ORACLE_HOME>\bin\svrmgrl @<ABC_DIR>\ABC.SQL
where <ORACLE_HOME>\bin\svrmgrl is the full path of the SVRMGRL.EXE executable and <ABC_DIR> is the directory in which you have placed the ABC.SQL file.
Now you can startup the Oracle database by simply double-clicking on the START.BAT batch file.
    Ciao!

2.How to start the oracle in sun Solaris (version 10)
    We are trying with
    sh startsap SID
but it showing SAP SYSTEM NAME NOT FOUND
    Please suggest'
    Regards,

    Dear Ravindra,
    First start oracle :
login as orasid and login to sqlplus "/as sysdba"
and then startup and make sure that listener is up and running.
For that you can lsnrctl status, if its not started just do lsnrctl start.
After that login as sidadm and then startsap R3
If still if you face any error like system name not found.
then try as startsap R3 <hostname> or startsap SID <hostname>
Defenitely it will resolves your issue.
    Thanks

  • How to find last_query for oracle web form?

I know that for standard forn we can navigate diagnostics-system-last_query
How can we do it for web forms?
Diagnostics menu contain only 5 items
    - Show log
    - Set trace lavel
    - Show Log on screen
    - Show pool monitor
    Thanks

Are you talking about the Block Menu - which allowed you to select the "Last Query" variable? If so, Forms 6i was the last version to support the Block Menu. If you need to see the last query executed, then you will have to explicitly capture the value of the :SYSTEM.LAST_QUERY variable. In other words, you will have to write code to assign the value of :SYSTEM.LAST_QUERY to a form variable.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)
