How to start httpd: as deamon or by inetd (what with mysql)?

What is better ? I mean start the httpd as a deamon using xinetd or in init script? By my current knowledge :oops: first option will be less memmory consumption.
And the second question: If I configure xinetd to start httpd is possible to start mySql in the same way ?
I mean:
1. somebody asking httpd for data
2. httpd starting (by xinetd)
3. php asking for mysql data
4. mysql starting (by xinetd)
5. mysql giving data
6. mysql stopping
7. php "creating" page
8. httpd giving data
9. httpd stops
10. inetd waiting for connection.
I'm not sure about that: Will this by slower then got httpd and mysql (starting and stoping deamons) ?[/b]

I'm slowly moving from W2K (with apache, php, mysql) to AL :shock: my current system is starting so slow (ca. 5 mins to be able to work), deamons starting as services with system. I'm impressed by the AL it is ready for work in ca 2 mins with simillar configuration (apache, mysql, gnome). I need to test configuration with xinetd and 'as deamon' (see memmory occupation and speed). httpd and mysql is used for 'local test and work' and by my current knowledge :? better should be set all as deamons.
I'm not sure about xinetd (need to browse manual): Is possible to left httpd running for example 20 mins after serving data ? (I mean: I wrote couple php lines, then testing, correcting but httpd still in memmory for next 20 mins to speed up next testing. It will close when no activity for 20 mins)
If is possible to set xinetd to left running application for certain time it will be the best, I will set all deamon aplication (I want to have apache, mysql, ftp, ssh maybe vnc) to be started by xinetd.
I want to left security 'abroad', later I want to configure ipchains - my machine is running most W2K (untill I set my LinuxBox as I want).
And the last main question: Is sense to play with inetd ? 
My machine is 1GHz with 256 MB RAM (512 MB in the future). I using it to watch DivX, play MP3, internet browsing, WWW design (GIMP will be in use), office work, and Wolfenstein - Enemy Teritory (there is no port for Battlefield 1942 client)

I need to understand how to perform an installation of BOBJ XI 3.1 on HP-UX in a cluster.
The official documentation it's a bit weird.
Someone can give more hints on the steps to follow? what should be installed on the first node , what in the second and what is clustered?
I think MySQL should be clustered before that.

So, you have 2 HP-UX boxes and you want to install BOE on both using default mysql DB and cluster those nodes together - correct ?
1. you don't need to cluster mysql, you should probably not even use mysql and use another DB located on a separate box.
2. You install BOE on server 1, make sure all is working.
3. You install BOE on server 2 and select expanded install scenario in the wizard, when asked for CMS server - give name of the server 1 install. follow the prompts.
#2 and 3 assume you have setup a DB to host CMS DB for BOE on a third server.
If you want to use mysql on server 1 as the CMS DB for the cluster (which is a bad idea) , then you have to connect to mysql DB and enable remote access to it.

I have no problems on my server as to what so ever, but the only thing is that I want to know how to start my apache httpd server so that i can starting using my Web services from Portal.
According to SAP standard document it clearly says that Apache is installed by SAPinst tool, but i also verified that the http://localhost does not give any web page opened, probably no http service is running on my machine.
I request all gurus to help me on this and start my httpd service.

How to start/ restart the service in visual admin of SAP WAS 6.4?

I have installed the sneak preview version of SAP NetWeaver WAS 6.4 for default Database MaxDB. While developing a simple application to manage simple database table citymaster with 2 columns in jsp I am getting error as
Exception e com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at : java.comp.
Looking at visual admin tool for WAS 6.4 all the entries are in color blue but the last entry for 'DATASOURCE' is in RED color where 'java.comp/env/JDBC/DATASOURCE' is the jndi reference created for default DataSource.
Can any one help me that why the last entry is in RED and it that say that some error has occured or that entry is not started then how to start that?

I have checked the Visual Administrator's JNDI Registry service entry in the ejbContexts node but there is no entry for the project which I have created.
It get deployed while I right click on the project's ear file and click on "Deploy on J2EE Engine". But same as before while checking in Browserthe site gives the same error...

You can start a new thread by making a thread object and passing it an implementation of a runnable object. Runnable has just one method, public void run(), this is was gets executed in a second thread. perhaps the code you would use would look something like this.

You can do as rizla said or go another route.
We setup profiles to use for all of the oracle homes. Then in the scripts we call the profiles. Easier to migrate and manage in my opinion if you have multiple oracle homes. You can then use profiles when ssh'd into the boxes, too. Both ways will work.

How to start virtual OVM Manager and restore server pool which hosts it?

It had to happen... the day I migrate our OVM Manager from an ESX host into an Oracle VM, we have a massive NetApp outage, and everything fails to come back. As a result of having lock errors when trying to start any VMs I noted on the forum various solutions and ended up following the steps concerning stopping ovs-agent and removal of /etc/ovs-agent/db/* on all the servers. Next I re-added the repo to all the servers using repos.py, but of course now none of the servers are in a pool so the --list command shows them as [R] rather than [*], and the /OVS directory is not yet mapped. So the next stage, according to the instructions which I am following, describes using the 'Restore' option in the OVM Manager GUI. Given that /OVS is not mounted and all of the servers are now config-less, I can't see how I can start the OVM Manager VM to get to the aforementioned "restore" option...
Thank Jeebus I kept the ESX copy of OVM manager on (but powered down), as I was able to fire it up and do the restore, and now everything is hunky dory. However, this is our Dev platform and I was going to build the Prod platform and deploy OVM Manager straight into the OVM architecture via the template, rather than having it on ESX, but this issue on the Dev install has made me think twice about the mobius nature of managing the VM architecture from within the VM architecture...
I am assuming I am missing some sort of commandline knowledge, so... given:
- empty db directory
- root repos [R] on all servers
- as yet unmapped /OVS
...how to get the server pool up and get something back into /OVS, and then start my OVM Manager VM so I can 'restore'? Is it even possible? because if it isn't, I'll be blowed if the Prod OVM manager is going to get deployed like this...
And no, there's no money in the budget for extra tin just to sit there running the OVM Manager and nothing else.

I believe the week view on the iPhone is handled by the Region settings in the phone. I am not aware of any other manner to change it, as you can with Outlook.

Does anybody can explain how to start and finish a transaction using EJB 3.0. I need to start a transaction insert some information in some tables and if everything was fine commit the information.
I put the annotation @TransactionManagement(TransactionManagementType.BEAN) in my session bean and @Resource SessionContext ejbContext; but I don't what anything else I have to do.

since 2 Month i am trying to use SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 EHP1. I found a lot about modelling of business process with process composer.
In my company we are often using SAP Standard Programs/transaktions, thats why I want to start a SAP Netweaver BPM Process from SAP Backend. I think there are more than one way. May be someone can tel me one easy way.
The following systems are available in my Landascape:
- PI 7.1
- ERP 2005
- CE 7.1 EHP1 with ESR
Does someone have an idea how to start the BPM Process or how to trigger start event from Backend?

Netweaver BPM process can be started in two ways:
1. Using NWA by instantiating a process
2. Using a Web service which trigers the Start event of the Business Process. You may find this useful:
