How to start JVM in Oracle

Hi,
is there any way to start JVM in Oracle without restarting the Oracle instance?
I mean: I need to start the VM adding some flags, like -Djava.library.path=, so I'd like to know if there's a script (or any kind of configuration file) which has the responsibility to initialize and start the JVM, and if I could modify it...
Thanks anyway
V

Hi,
There is not explcit command to enable Java in a session, it happens transparently, the first time you run Java in the session. I use the following basic command: select dbms_java.longname('foo') from dual;
Regarding the ability to configure the per-session VM using properties/flags (such as classpath), this is currently not supported.

  • How to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?

    Folks,
Hello. I have just installed Oracle Client into directory /home/myOracle/Oracle_Client. But I don't know how to start and configure the client to access Oracle Database.
Can any folk tell me how to start to use Oracle client to access Database ?

    user13764998 wrote:
I have earlier managed to install the Oracle Client (32-bit) in 32-bit clients and servers Oracle Client 10.
The reason that it went well before was the exellent setup and configurationprograms we got with that version. It seems you are confusing the "full" Datbase Client with Instant Client.
Now I'm trying to install the Oracle Instant Client 11g R2 both 32-bit and 64 (of the latest revision) on a 64-bit Windows 2008 Server .
I have managed to install the driver but the setup doesn't give me any Net Configuration Assistant or Net Manager to help with the configuration. What setup? Are you not using just the zip files?
What are you installing exactly, i.e. what install media (file) did you download?
So I haven't succeded in configuring it despite I I read the readme-info that comes with the Instant Client files. There's not much to configure - that's sort of the point of Instant Client. Just drop a few files in a folder, set PATH and off you go.
    Doesn't <instant client dir>\sqlplus user@'hostname/servicename' work?

    Hi,
You can use: startManagedWebLogic.sh, it is in your domain directory and you have to execute it in this way
    ./startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServerName http://adminServerHost:adminServerPort
For instance, in my case I use:
    unixserv01:/webportal/domains/appServerWeb/bin>startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServ01 http://pelma3w3per01.mesaperu.next:7001
You have to run it on the machine where the managed server was installed.

  • How to start manually an oracle 8i database with a bat file?

    Hi all,
I know it's not the place but it is a really common question: how can i start manually an oracle 8i database on windows 2000 without using a service? I don't remember the command. I tried: oracle start SID without success...
    Thanks
    JMi

    Dear JMD,
If you would like to startup the Oracle instance using a batch file then first create a SQL file (say ABC.SQL) wherein enter the following two lines:
    connect internal/<INTERNAL_PASSWORD>
    STARTUP
<INTERNAL_PASSWORD> above is the password for the INTERNAL user account (default password is "oracle")
Then create a batch file (say START.BAT) and enter the following single line:
    <ORACLE_HOME>\bin\svrmgrl @<ABC_DIR>\ABC.SQL
where <ORACLE_HOME>\bin\svrmgrl is the full path of the SVRMGRL.EXE executable and <ABC_DIR> is the directory in which you have placed the ABC.SQL file.
Now you can startup the Oracle database by simply double-clicking on the START.BAT batch file.
    Ciao!

    Regards,

    Dear Ravindra,
    First start oracle :
login as orasid and login to sqlplus "/as sysdba"
and then startup and make sure that listener is up and running.
For that you can lsnrctl status, if its not started just do lsnrctl start.
After that login as sidadm and then startsap R3
If still if you face any error like system name not found.
then try as startsap R3 <hostname> or startsap SID <hostname>
Defenitely it will resolves your issue.

  • How to start and shutdown Oracle Applications 11i?

Currently, I've installed an Oracle Applications version 11i under Sun Solaris environment. However, I encountered problems when I tried to backup the whole system for fallback purpose. I'm not really sure about the procedures in shutting down the Oracle Applications components. So, is there anyone could tell me such procedures, hopefully including the command used for shutting down the whole application system? Thanks.
Besides, I would like to know how can I start Oracle Applications 11i as a daemon? If cannot, how can I start the server within the UNIX shell? Thank you very much.

You will have specified a common directory in your installation, which is usually referred to as COMMON_TOP.
Under <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts there are a host of shell scripts for stopping, starting apps components. Also, under the database Oracle Home (816 or 817) you will find an appsutil directory with similar scripts.
Typically these two directories will be in your PATH.
You can create a stop script, typically as:
    adfrmctl.sh stop
    adrepctl.sh stop
    adfmsctl.sh stop
    adfmcctl.sh stop
    adapcctl.sh stop
adcmctl.sh apps/apps_password stop (wait till FND processes cease, a sleep 300 might suffice)
    adalnctl.sh APPS_<SID> stop
    addlnctl.sh <SID> stop
    addbctl.sh stop
A start script would call the same scripts in the reverse order, substituting stop for start.

  • How to start of with Oracle HCM fusion applications to gain good grasp on the technology

I have been working in Siebel for a long time and I am currently moving to Oracle Fusion HCM application.I would like to know the best way to start up with it and I would also like to know the possible way to go about it so that having 7years of experience I can justify my knowledge in this technology and skill.Could anyone please guide me as to how to go about it.What are the things i should start from and how should i go about it,what forums to follow, what online tutorials to look at.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi.
There are loads of resources out there, but with so many it can be hard to know where to begin. Obviously we cover just Customization-Integration related areas not the whole stack. I don't have anything specific to your Siebel background, however hopefully these "top pick" recommendations will help you. My personal advice is to pick one topic or technical component at a time, because trying to learn everything at once quickly becomes overwhelming.
    1) Chapter 2 of my book, now a few years old, gives a Technical Overview of the stack. Get it for free here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/managing-fusion-apps-418611.pdf
    2) Oracle Learning Library is a good resource for demos and well-crafted content on many topics. Use the search to find Fusion Apps content: https://apexapps.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=44785:2:0::NO:::
    3) Whilst it might seem predictable, our online help is the intended content for getting started. This was overhauled recently and the new layout really helps. Both the product docs and the help portal content is very well written by our experts. Getting Started with Oracle Fusion Applications Lifecycle Management Release 9
    4) The MyOracleSupport site has quite a few bits of content on technology component usage inside Fusion Apps. Look for the "Information Centers" for applications technology or BI for example where you'll find lost of top content listed by category.
I am also working on some "resource roadmaps" - a tool to give people to all key resources for a topic in a quick and visual way. Keep an eye on our blog for more here.

  • How to start learning about Oracle identity mgmt

    Hi All,
I want to learn OID, Can any one suggest from where to start learning this topic and practising it.
    Thnaking You,
    Rakesh.

It seems a good approach, although I think SSO can be learned independently (although it can use an LDAP dir to store credentials, it can be done without learning much about it).
In all the IdM world, I think the basic start point is to learn about LDAP. And as OIM has not a ldap backend like other provisioning solutions, you will interact a lot with directories. This is the first step I always ask for people who starts working with me. SSL/TLS and certs should be studied later, gaining a complete understand of directories world.
Every Directory differs only in their own admin console, but if you use pure LDAP, all dirs are the same. OID has its things, but with strong LDAP knowledgement, there will be no problem in understand it.
OIM is the last stand, because it integrates everything. I suggest that first, you try to learn how to use it, as if you were an administrator (this can be done if you get some VM with oim preinstalled with at least 2 connectors working). Then, when you get all oim concepts (users, orgs, groups, access policies, process, etc), you can begin with implementing your own stuff, like making your own installation, deploying connectors, extending their functionality, etc.
OIM has the power of being extended with java code, so after all of it, I recommend as the very final step, to get inside the java world and begun writing your own code, decompiling the connectors code so you can figure how oim works, etc etc

Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2 installed in the same Linux server under diff. folder

You can do as rizla said or go another route.
We setup profiles to use for all of the oracle homes. Then in the scripts we call the profiles. Easier to migrate and manage in my opinion if you have multiple oracle homes. You can then use profiles when ssh'd into the boxes, too. Both ways will work.
    Example:
    Script which you can chkconfig.
    #!/bin/sh
    # oracle_collabInfra
    # This shell script takes care of starting and stopping Oracle Collab Infra instance.
    #chkconfig: 345 96 14
