How to start KDE on secondary screen?

Hi. I have set up dual monitors with nvidia config tool. On my primary screen everything is fine, but on my secondary screen theres only that "X test screen" or whatever it is called - black background and white X-cursor which I can move with my mouse. How can I start KDE session on that screen too? Without using xinerama or twinview...

You want "separate X-sessions" which is set with the nvidia-settings tool or XrandR.
Yes I have that, but the other screen is just black with the white X-cursor.
do you try?
startx (open on first free virtual console [normally tty7])
startx -- :1 (open .... tty8)
startx -- :2
I tried, startx -- :1 just started another desktop ontop my old desktop, not on the second monitor startx --:2 gave fatal server error
as mentioned already you simply need 2 seperate X-sessions running for every monitor and either try "xinit /usr/bin/YOURTILINGWM -- :0.1" or "DISPLAY=:0.1 YOURTILINGWM"
yup, that says I already have kde running there. I guess I do then, but how I get the desktop there. I can open applications there from console with DISPLAY=:0.1 appname, but the font size is ridiculously small in those applications

Hey guys,
Basically, there are particular applications such as Mail and Calender that I want to start at Login in Full Screen Mode. Currently, regardless of whether I've closed them when in Full Screen, they always reopen in their 'windowed' state. Is there a way (whether editing script, or ticking a box!) to start them in Full Screen consistently?

Uncheck the box indicated in the screenshot below and the app should start in the same mode as you quit it in (i.e., if it was in FS mode when you quit, it'll open in FS mode).

If available, connect it to an external monitor. If there is an image on the monitor, then the display or display connection is probably faulty. If there is no image, then the GPU is faulty.

Bootcamp win7 secondary screen brightness

Hi,
I have a macBook pro with bootcamp (win7-64) and a secondary screen connected trough the hdmi. The brightness of the secondary screen changes constantly, seems related with the content of the same screen. For example, if i have opened a photo, wich is mainly dark, and I maximize a program like Word, which is mainly white, the brightness changes a lot. this problem doesn't happen in laptop screen.
The win7 brightness control seems to affect the laptop screen only.
How to disable this annoying secondary screen brightness auto adjust?

You can move apps by tapping and holding them until they start to wiggle, then dragging them to another page. Note, you can't move all of them off a page. You'll have to leave at least one. And, when ever you download a new app, it will get placed in the first available space on the first Home page and you'll have to move it manually.

Are you saying that you want to see the menu screen when you launch the program?
If so, go to the Help menu and select Welcome Screen. When the Welcome Screen launches, click on the gear in the upper right corner and set Always Start On to Welcome Screen.
Or are you asking how to start the program from the Welcome Screen?

The same thing happened to me... Since two days the ******* thing keeps freezing after a while. Then I try to reboot and the screen goes white and it doesn't boot. If I wait like half an hour it boots again.
I thought it was a hardware problem, but the Apple Hardware Test founds nothing at all. I think it has to do with the software update I performed 2 days ago.

I'm getting you have a MacBook rather than an iMac, if so you may want to request to have your post moved to the correct forum. However please read Gray screen appears during startup to begin troubleshooting your problem.
Also when posting please do not type in all caps, it is considered shouting. We can "hear" you fine.

When you assigned it to the company did a installshield window come up and install the addon?
-If no,tick force install and active. Log off sap and then log on, it will then install.
-If yes it did do it, sometimes you need to log on and off before seeing it in add-on manager. Also make sure that in add-on admininstration window on the second tab called user preferences if that user you are logging on as that add on is ACTIVE.
One you do the above, go to tools->screen painter.

Take your Mac to an Apple store to be looked at and fixed. There is nothing you can do to fix it. It is a hardware problem. Either the screen has failed or the cable going from the logic board to the screen has failed. For both of those type failures only Apple, or a AARC, can fix it.

I would like to start Firefox in LINUX environment from the command line. That is easy just type FIREFOX and hit enter or call a script for that instruction ios what I do.
The challenge is to start the browser FULL SCREEN, WITHOUT showing the cursor on the pages. - [In reality I want to add the F11 parameter in the start script as well as as "do not show the cursor (No idea to invoke it manually). This is a web app running on PC with a touch screen. Secondly I would like to refresh (Shift+F5) every hour or so without human intervention. If you close Firefox 4 while in full screen mode then the browser should start in full screen mode the next time. That setting is stored in localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].
If you want to prevent toolbars from opening if you hover to the top then hide the full-screen-toggler with code in userChrome.css

If you press the caps lock key does it light up? If it does then this indicates that your system is booting but the display is either not recognized, is not displaying any video, or the display is displaying video but the backlight system is not lighting up. As long as you've tried turning up the brightness then there is not much you can do other than take it in for a diagnosis. If you have a very bright flashlight you can turn on the iMac and then shine the flashlight onto various areas of the iMac display to see if you can see any faint images on the display. If you do then this indicates that the display is displaying the image, but the backlight is not turning on for some reason. It doesn't change the outcome, but at least you can assist the technician who is troubleshooting your iMac.
Please let us know what you find out.
