How to start the Toshiba Ghost image files from the HDD
Hello
Ok this is a tough one but hopefully some tech/wizz can help me out.
I have all the necessary CD Recovery disc but my Toshiba laptop CDRom has died and i'm looking for replacement at the moment.
I have managed to copy the image files and all the other info from these CD's onto the laptop hard drive via a network from my desktop cdrom. I did try to use the desktop cdrom to boot the 2.5" laptop drive but it knew it wasnt a toshiba laptop so wouldn't let me recovery.
However now I have manage to copy all the ghost image files onto the laptop hdd I'm stuck on how to run installation via dos.
The laptop hdd is formatted and all i have are the following files
span.bmp
setenv.bat --------> batch file contains following lines
@ECHO OFF
SET GHOSTPAR=
SET SWN=01237000
SET EXT=GHO
SET VOLLABEL=%SWN%
SET FILENAME=%SWN%.%EXT%
01237001.GHS------> PART 2 OF IMAGE
01237000.GHO -----> GHOST IMAGE MAIN
01237000.CRC
A folder called G_INST
which contains 3 extra folders BMP, DOS and TOOLS and span.bmp
I cant figure out how i can run ghost to extract and recovery my HDD can someone help me :)
Thanks in advance
Simon
Im really skeptical if you will be start the Toshiba ghost image files from the second partition without using the Symantec Norton Ghost software.
I have created a ghost image of the C partition and placed it on the D partition.
To recover the C partition I have to start the Ghost Utility and have to use the image file .gho from D partition
I have googled a little bit and found the useful instruction how to recover the Portege M3500 without using an CD/DVD drive. Maybe this will run also on the Sat A30.

By the way: the internal, compatible ODD can be ordered from the ASP in your country!

How do I remove Canon " My Image Garden" from the desktop when turning on my computer ?
How do I remove Canon " My Image Garden" from the desktop when turning on my computer ? I have the icon but the program starts up and I have to delete it manually from the desktop to clear my screen for other work...
Are you using a Windows or a Mac? What you're seeing (the backwards L shaped menu) is probably the Canon Quick Menu. If you have a Mac you can go into your applications, select Canon Utilities, then drag Canon Quick menu to the trash and empty trash can. On Windows you'd go to the control panel, select Programs and Features (or Uninstall Program/Add or Remove Program) and uninstall the Canon Quick Menu. Not required for all the normal functions of the printer. You can do the same thing for My Image Garden. Also not required.

How do I access my back up files from the time machine if my computer was stolen?
Hi, how do I access my back up files from the time machine if my mac book pro was stolen? I have a mac book air and mac too. But not sure how I can get back all the files from the stolen computer from my time capsule
On the Mac Book Air or other Mac that you have, use Migration Assistant to transfer files from the Time Machine backups of the Mac that was taken.

Can the new garageband open files from the previous garageband? in my case it seems not to work and I would like to know if it is possible at all...
No.
I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled. -
How do I uninstall an add on file from the Seamonkey browser?
HOW DO I UNINSTALL AN ADD ON FILE FROM MY SEAMONKEY BROWSER?
Mozilla needs to make their products more user friendly. There is a multitude of people out there
who are "NOT" very computer literate. Older people like myself, for example, who are old
school, have a difficult time being dragged kicking and screaming into the electronic generation.
My grandchildren are better at this kind of stuff than I am; yet we really don't have much choice
but to try and make the transition, because I have found that there are a lot of types of business
that you cannot get done unless you are willing to do it with a computer, going online.
My problem is not with Firefox (I don't use it because it is too slow) , because I use the Seamonkey browser. The problem I now have is that when I try to download some software, I get a message that says I must first uninstall a certain “add on” file, (npfdm.dll.), a "Free Download Manager" file. When I get the list of add ons through the “help” drop down menu, there is “NO” link or any way I can see that will allow me to uninstall this file from the add on list. Therefore, Seamonkey becomes useless to me. Someone please help me with this. Thank you.

Deleting the old Archive Log Files from the Hard Disk
Hello All,
I want to delete the old archive files of Oracle. These files are very old and consuming very huge disk space.
Is there any way by which I can delete these files from the Hard Disk?
Can I directly delete them using the Operating System Command?
Will it cause any dilfference to the normal functioning of my Database?
If I need to delete these files, do I need to bring the database down?
Please guide me.
I need to do this activity to make some space free on the Hard Disk.
Thanks in advance.
HimanshuHi.
Keep archived logs from time of last backup and forward to currenct time on disk together with the backup itself. And keep older archived logs together with older warm/cold backupfiles on tape as long as there is enough capasity or following your recovery strategy. This way you might be able to roll forward a recovery without restoring these files from tape which often the faster.
Older archived logs can be deleted manually, with scheduled OS script or automatically with RMAN.
Good luck

How to start editing previously edited image files?
When NEF (raw files) in LR4 are edited, it generates two additional files: tiff and jpg (by "save as"). Later on, when I want to furhter edit those images, how do I start with? Obviously, I could re-edit from history panel of the orignal NEF file or tiff file using CS5. I wonder which approach is more efficient or convenient?
>.So TIF files or JPEG files are only created for a specific purpose. And once that purpose is fulfilled (e-mail, printing, etc.) That file is deleted. The only file I keep in most instances is the original >raw file. There is not a separate database for TIF files so I don't understand your question
I have a hummingbird folder and also its LR hummingbird catalog. Upon reading your post, I deleted all hummingbird tif files (which were generated when edited NEF files were sent to photoshop by "Edit In Photoshop CS5"0 from hummingbird folder. There is no single tif file in the folder. But I kept the original NEF and jpeg files.
When the hummingbird catalog was opened in LR4, the libray grid still shows all deleted tif images but with a question mark in the images, indicating that these tif files are missing.(see the attachment below).
This indicates that simply deleting tif files does not remove their database from the hummingbird catalog. This explains my previous question about how to delete all information related to tif files from hummingbird catalog database. . -

LimThere are tons of informations missing here, for instance (but not limited to) the exact forms version you are using (note: 10g is not a version, but 10.1.2.0.2 is). Without Version informations a correct answer is not possible
You might want to go through the links from the Announcement entitled "<a href=http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=432>Before posting on this forum please read </a>" which contains links to the documentation and instructions on how to post proper questions for example.

How do I generate PDF and CHM files from the a command line in windows?
I am trying to set up a PC to build some documents during the night. I was looking for a way to get framemaker to generate PDF and CHM files via a command line in windows? How is this done with FrameMaker 12
Thanks for the help
AlexHi,
The part with generate a PDF via a jsx seems to work OK, except when FrameMaker decides that it will not work anymore. I must say I am not impressed with the stabillity of FrameMaker 12, there is room for a lot of improvement!.
I have given up on how to figure out how to get FrameMaker 12 to generate chm files via jsx scripts, any pointes are still very welcome.
The route I have taken is I make a RoboHelp project for each chm files I need to generate. The only thing this RoboHelp project contains is a link to the actual FrameMaker project I want to generate a chm file.
To make the chm I start RoboHelp with a script that
1) Opens the desired project
2) Sets the desired output chm files name
3) Generates the chm file
4) And finally quits RoboHelp
Below is a copy of the jsx in case anyone can reuse anything. And yes parameters are transfered via enviroments variable. I have later learned there is some way to read the parameters given at a command line but this seems to work so I stick to this for now.
// Get parameters
var RhProjName = $.getenv("RH_PROJ_NAME");
var RhChmName = $.getenv("RH_CHM_NAME");
var RhLogFileName = $.getenv("RH_LOGFILE_NAME");
var RhLogFile = new File(RhLogFileName);
RhLogFile.open("w", "TEXT");
RhLogFile.writeln("RH_PROJ_NAME : ", RhProjName);
RhLogFile.writeln("RH_CHM_NAME : ", RhChmName);
doc = RoboHelp.openProject (RhProjName, 1);
var sslmngr = RoboHelp.project.SSLManager;
for(var i = 1; i<=sslmngr.count; i++){
var ssl = sslmngr.item(i);
if(ssl.name == 'Microsoft HTML Help') {
// Set the output location and file name
ssl.setSpecificProperty("DestinationProjectName", RhChmName);
if (doc.saveAll(true) ) {
RhLogFile.writeln("saveAll returned TRUE");
} else {
RhLogFile.writeln("saveAll returned FALSE");
if ( ssl.generate() ) {
RhLogFile.writeln("ssl.generate returned TRUE");
} else {
RhLogFile.writeln("ssl.generate returned FALSE");
} else {
// alert ("Found " + ssl.name + " dont do anything");
doc.saveAll(true);
RhLogFile.close();
RoboHelp.closeProject();
RoboHelp.quit(); -
ODWA: Unable to call image file from the Repository
Hi,
I've followed the instructions to create diagram images using Netscape Composer for creating hotspots without success. I uploaded the JPEG file into the Oracle Designer Repository and referenced it as {REP_FILE=CDW 2000(1)/BKG.JPG}. The image does not appear on the Graphics Manager. If I save the image to a webserver directory and referenced it by a URL then the image will appear. How do I correct the issue with referencing the images from the Repository?
Thanks,
DeidreDeidre,
I need to know a bit more.
If you add the REP_FILE line to description or notes you will see the images in the report section not in automatically in the graphics manager. Do you see the image in the report section? If not what does it say on the place where you expect the gif.
Of course if you go to the graphics manager and you select the file using the browse button it should show the image (mind you that the REP_FILE has nothing to do with this). If you not see the file you first must find out if you are able to see the image if you approach it through the ODWA Navigator/Reports? If not you might have a problem with the down/up load functionality and then you might need to check your installation.
We have changed this functionality in the 6.5.0.16 patch release which is available through the supplement option.
Regards,
Ton

Downloading image files from the server and saving them on local disk
Hello,
In an AIR app. i want to download number of image files,i have paths
in an array.I am looping through the array and using URLLoader.Format
is BINARY,now on the complete event of one file i dont know how to
store the file on the disk as exactly which file has dispatched the
event is not known.Please point out if my approach is incorrect or if
any other ideas -plz share.Try the following:
var imgURLs:Array = new Array();
imgURLs[0] = "http://www.adobe.com/ubi/globalnav/include/adobe-lq.png";
imgURLs[1] = "http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_adobe_air.png";
var urlRequests:Array = new Array();
var urlLoaders:Array = [];
for (var i:int = 0; i < imgURLs.length; i++)
loadURL(i);
function loadURL(i:int):void
var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(imgURLs[i]);
urlRequests[i] = urlReq;
var urlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(urlReq);
urlLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.BINARY;
urlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
function (event:Event):void
var path:String = urlReq.url;
var urlLoader:URLLoader = event.target as URLLoader;
saveFileData(path, urlLoader.data);
function saveFileData(path:String, data:ByteArray):void
trace(path, data.bytesAvailable);
// I'll let you write the code to save the data to a file path, based on the URL.
You could also create a class that includes the event handler function and includes the code for loading the data. Then create a new instance of that class for each URL. -
How can i RECOVER a time machine file from the trash
I hope someone can help me... I have spent hours and hours reading forums but none that have addressed my problem.
My daughter gave me her old backup drive. She also has a MAC so she had Time Machine backups on the drive already. I started backing up onto this drive about a year ago. Backups have been done now for a year or so. Last night I got the message that I was running out of space so I looked at the drive and realized that her backups were still on the drive so I moved them into the trash. Then Time Machine wouldn't work anymore and I realized that not only did her backups get moved but all of mine did as well. I need the backups because after I upgraded to Mavericks many of my photos dissappeared from iPhoto. These are photos that I can't recreate - I sell jewelry and take pictures before I send the piece out. Everything is one-of-a-kind so it's very important for me to get these back. I realize now that I never should have moved the backups into the trash as I will have a problem deleting it once I separate her backups from mine but I will deal with that after I figure out this problem.
Is there anything I can do to move the backups back from out of the trash and into Time Machine again? (BTW - I don't know which version of Mavericks I have - I have done all available updates so I assume it is 10.9.3)As long as you don't delete the trash, the files should be recoverable.
I suspect using the Put Back command could take a long time, so be patient.
If your Time Machine backups are mixed with your daughter's backups you might want to buy a larger drive and move the Time Machine files to the new drive.
Regarding missing photos in iPhoto...There might be options to rebuild/recover that data from iPhoto rather than trying to revert to a Time Machine backup.
Check out this third party app, iPhoto Library Manager. It has a demo.

Options for a larger drive.
I like the Seagate USB 3.0 Backup plus drives. Works on USB 2.0 ports. They come formatted for PC but easy to format in Disk Utility.
I don't recommend Western Digital because of the boot problem with some of their drives.
LaCie makes good drives.
All Mac formatted drives will cost more and it’s easy to reformat with Disk Utility. Do not use the software that comes with the drives. It’s recommended that you use Apple’s Disk Utility.
Prices vary but this gives you an idea of what you’ll find. As you notice the second and third TB is usually only $15 more per TB. Normally, you’ll find these prices but right now the 1T is more than the 2T
Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB USB 3.0 $85
Seagate Backup Plus 2 TB USB 3.0 $99
Seagate Backup Plus 3 TB USB 3.0 $115
I have seen the 3T on sale for $99.
Locally, Best Buy seems to have the best prices. -
how does one transfer a large ( 1gb) video file from an iphone3g photo cache to a pc in a playable format?
The same way you would import any photo/video from a digital camera. Connect the iPhone to the computer and import the file. Then it can be played with Quicktime or any software that supports that file format.
