OCDM - How to start with implementation
Hello,
I have installled OCDM and required Oracle components on Linux Redhat5 box. As I am running out of time, could someone guide me on the exact steps/tools that i need to start using to implement my BI solution?
E.g. Do I need to design my warehouse first? Am I suppose to use template base tables or design my own tables? How I go about designing ETLs?
Regards,
BhaveshThe next (easy) step is to install OBIEE, and link it to the OCDM DB.
I assume you have installed OWB, Mining and OLAP.
Before designing anything, please look at whatever is already available!
All derived and aggregated tables, as well as the OLAP cubes and mining models, are autromatically filled with the intra-ETLs provided.
The point is not to spend time on whatever is already there but on what could be adapted or extended.
So my suggested steps are as follow:
1/ Define which of the 8 business areas you want to concentrate on, on within them, the business questions you want to solve/the measures you want to see
2/ Look at the delivered KPIs (oob) available and check which tables are needed (using the default metadata report available in OBIEE) - you may need the full payable customer-only documentation for this.
3/ Define which data sources you want to use (the fewer the better to start with - limit the scope) and the data you need out of them
4/ Gap analysis: Check what you cannot do oob with OCDM and see whether you really need it => if yes, design and adapt OCDM...
5/ Get the data (cleaned) to fill those OCDM tables (3NF layer) => Define the ETL from your data source to OCDM (with OWB since you have it or with whatever tool you prefer)
6/ Configure the parameters of the intra-ETLs you use to make them work when you need (and possibly how you need, in case of adpatation)
7/ Test the data transfer
8/ Once in production, start the iteration again in your test environment with the next area/business domain
In any case, Oracle Consulting will be pleased to help you further. Please contact your nearest Oracle office.
Some tipps:
- Do not develop before checking what is already there
- Tables in foundation layer (base, reference and lookup) shall all be 3NF.
- All codes should be defined in lookup tables.
- Inspire yourself from the optimized ETLs - extend them rather than developing from scratch...
Hope this helps.

How can we implement SSO in SP2013
Hi,
How can we implement SSO from other applications to SP2013 web app.
Please suggest with an example.
Thanks,
Krishna
KrishnasandeepBasically it is used to store credentials in a safe way. My article at
http://sharepointdragons.com/2012/02/13/creating-a-bcs-net-assembly-connector/ discusses an example where it is leveraged within other SharePoint technology (BCS) but you can also use the object model to retrieve credentials and get login pages etc. for
free provided by the Secure Store Service framework.

Hello Experts........
One of my client is trader.
i am confused how to start implementation.
Whether module wise one by one or how .
Any suggestions would be greatful.
Regards
Krishna vamsiKrishna Vamsi - are you asking for someone to take you through the whole implementation process for your customer step by step, module by module? I doubt very much that can be handled in a thread. Have you taken the SAP online training or gone to some kind of training?
I agree with Rahul, you seem to be confused and you need to deal with that correctly - what about other SAP B1 Implementation Specialists in the Partner company you work for/with? Can they not help with the process Rahul describes?
I have implemented Trading, Import/Export, and Service companies - yes, it can be done with SAP B1 and some tweaking and/or changes.
You will probably not get everything explained here, and it would take an immense amount of hours for someone to explain everything.
Good luck, but I think you need to be looking for alternatives...

How to start a application with a login window?
hi there
does anyone have any idea on how to start an application with a login window? a login window is the first frame or window to be displayed when an application starts running. and only correct login id and password have been entered the real application will start. any sample out there? thank you.You can start a new thread by making a thread object and passing it an implementation of a runnable object. Runnable has just one method, public void run(), this is was gets executed in a second thread. perhaps the code you would use would look something like this.
<code>
// set up thread for login window
new Thread(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
// construct your login window here
// when you are done processing the
// password....
if(goodPassword) {
authorized = true; // a global variable
notifyAll(); // don't forget this
else {
System.exit(42);
}).start();
// control does not stop this code gets executed while
// the above thread is running.
// Set up main program here. This is done in the
// backround.
while(!authorized) {
synchronized(this)
{ wait(50); }
// now when the user logs in this frame pops
// up real quick.
myFrame.setVisible(true);
</code>
Hope you can figure it out.. good luck :) -

All this files are in c:\temp and this directory is in my PATH variable. I've compilated the interface, server, client with
javac -classpath file.java
After that I generate with rmic the stub skel file in c:\temp. In this point I have all the files that I need. If is somebody kind to tell me from now what do I have to do to make this program work :)). Thanks for any help.so..u have everything ready..
open cmd prompt and say 'start rmiregistry' - >this opens a new cmd prompt for rmi registry.let it run
now first run ur server by saying 'java DataServer' // include options as u like. this should be running without terminating.
now open new cmd prompt for ur client and say 'java DataClient '.
thats all.
if you want to run the client from a different machine, then try copying the client file into another m/c after changing the code from 'localhost' to the ip address of the server m/c. then just say 'java DataClient '
hope this works fine! -
How to start a BPM process from ERP system
Hi,
I created a process in Netweaver Developer Studio with the Process Composer in SAP CE 7.1 BPM, now I want to automatically start the process by saving a SAP document like purchase requisition or purchase order. Therefore I think about implementing a UserExit / Badi or something else.
The following systems are available in my Landascape:
- PI 7.1
- ERP 2005
- CE 7.1 EHP1 with ESR
Does someone have an idea how to start the BPM Process or how to trigger start event?
Greetings,
Christianthe process by saving a SAP document like purchase requisition or purchase order.
Based on your business process, you will have to decide what data should be sent to other system. It could be in the form of Idoc trigger or an RFC calls. If there are non-SAP systems involved, you should be using PI 7.1 too. In that case, you can communicate using Abap proxy call too. For this you may either call an RFC internally in a report and schedule it.

Prateek -

DiegoDiego,
When you create your own ticket, on JVM, it creates these two files with your name and TicketKeyPair/TicketKeyPair-cert (or whatever name you define).
What I usually do is highlight both (at seperate times), make changes to the Country Name, State/Province(full name), Locality Name, ON, OUN, CN in accordance to your naming standards, then on ENTRY NAME within Create screen, you can either keep these names
- SAPLogonTicketKeyPair
- SAPLogonTicketKeyPair-cert
or use your own. The SAPLogonTicketKeyPair you Save to File, the SAPLogonTicketKeyPair-cert you export. You have to click on Store Certificate for SAPLogonTicketKeyPair-cert , and assign Algorithm to DSA. The SAPLogonTicketKeyPair-cert you will Export.
Then on the Portal you would login, go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Keystore Administration, and you would Download the Verify.der File, as well as Download Verify.pse
Then on strustsso2, you import the verify.der (on second box screen) you would import certificate you generated from portal steps above, You will see your entries that you assigned for CN, OUN, etc. You would Add Certificate to List/and Add to ACL. Add to ACL will pop-up with new screen asking you to enter WPS System and client. WPS System would be your Portal SID (ie. DEV) and client would be 000. NW04 uses 000 as default. This has nothing to do with your R/3 backend client assignments (at this point at least.
If you have problems, just drop me email.

James
