How to start VNC server on a monitor less machine
I think my video card died on my desktop. I need to figure out how to remotely start VNC on the desktop so I can use it from my macbook while I'm waiting for a new video card.
Is there a way to start up VCN remotely via terminal (i know the IP and have OSXvns installed, the question is how do I start it?)
Thanks in advance for all assistance that will help me in this dark time. (sorry I couldn't help the bad pun - you gotta keep smiling, the alternative isn't fun)
Hi--
Hmm. Can you use ssh to log into the desktop? If you've already set that up, I think you're good to go. Just log in and run the underlying command line program from the Vine Server (OSXvnc) application bundle (for version 2.1):
<pre class="command">/Applications/Vine\ Server.app/OSXvnc-server</pre>Use "control"-"c" to stop the server when you're done. The Vine Server manual has some command line arguments you could use to customize it, but at least on my setup, running that command with the defaults allows connections.

Hi,
We are using RHEL 5.4.
Starting vnc server is giving below error.
service vncserver start
Starting VNC server: 1:root sh: line 7: 4156 Segmentation fault
Xvnc :1 -desktop 'vhut.wgt.com:1 (root)' -httpd /usr/share/vnc/classes -auth /root/.Xauthority -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 -rfbwait 30000 -rfbauth /root/.vnc
Unable to start Xvnc, exiting [FAILED]
What is the reason?
Thanks,
KavithaDoes the type of binary match your system?
What is the following output:
# echo $SHELL
The default shell in Linux is bash.
What is the following output:
# cat /etc/passwd | grep root
What happens when you type the following:
# /etc/init.d/vncserver status
# /etc/init.d/vncserver restart
If the above does not help, you can try to debug the startup script to see more detailed info, which might give you an idea where it is failing:
# set -x
# source /etc/init.d/vncserver start
# set +x

How to start the server. Urgent.
I mistakenly deleted the icon from the Start menu, to start the SAP IDES server in my laptop. How to start the server from any other path.
I installed it in E drive (2003 server). Database path is F drive.Hi,
Check the following path
E:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SapGui
Here the actual Logon Pad file would be stored with name "SAPLOGON" or "SAPLGPAD".
Create another shortcut for above file on your desktop.

Try running the manageed server directly (as sort of admin) by not passing
the admin server url and bringing it just like an admin server.
See if this works. If it works, then soemthing wrong in the way the admin
server is receiving the request/security credentials from managed server.
Also make sure both managed and admin servers are on the same patch/service
pack level.

How to start weblogic server with non system user
I want to start wls6.1 as an nt service with different user name other than
system.
Thanks
MadhuI have installed weblogic server as an nt service. In install Nt service
cmd, if I make any change in the script, I have to uninstall and install it
again. I do not know where to specify the weblogic.management.username =(Non
system user)
I have created a user name in NT server and added them to Administrator
group. I have also modified in file realm propertes i.e to boot and shutdown
the non system user.
I have to start weblogic server as a non system user.
Thanks
Madhu
I think I replied to some of the questions when I found out the answers.
Only thing I did was hit reply, instead of reply group. Might it went to
persons e-mail. That might be the reason, the answers I posted is not found
in the newsgroup
Thanks

Specify weblogic.management.username={Non system user} in your -D
option. BTW, just curious, have observed that u have been posting a
lot of weblogic questions lately, did u find out the answers? If so, u
should share it back to this community.

How to start java Server on Vista?
Hello, i have already done some client - server programming and it worked too, but now i have got windows Vista and when i start the server, i can only connent to it from the computers that are connected to the same router, i am not sure where the problem is because all worked fine on windows XP, maybe im just using wrong port...
now i made a simple program,
package server;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.InetAddress;
import java.net.ServerSocket;
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
ServerSocket s = null;
try {
s = new ServerSocket(80, 50, InetAddress.getByName(InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName()));
System.out.println(s.getInetAddress());
s.accept();
} catch (IOException e1) {
e1.printStackTrace();
finally {
try {
s.close();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
System.out.println("Finished");
}it does nothing, but prints "Finished" when someone connects,
it works, for example when i open intenet explorer and write "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where xxx is my ip address. the program finishes, but when i try it from another computer which is not connected to the same router, then nothing happens
Thanks for help
JurajI would check your windows firewall and your router settings. There is nothing in Java I know of which will do this.
