How to Start WebDynpro Learning

Hi
I am trying to start learning the WebDynpro.what is the bestway to start.should i directly start practising examples given in SDN?or should i go through help.sap.com.then read article.what is best way to start learning?please provide any good tutorials
Prasad

I really depends on how you learn best.  I personally learn better/faster by doing.   So I would suggest starting out by doing the tutorials.  There are a couple that are delievered within the NWDS.  Click, Help, Welcome, click the link for webdynpro.  In there are some tutorials that will get you started.
You can also find tutorials here.

  • How to start WebDynpro - Feeling down and lost

    Hi guys,
I started working with webdynpro based on ABAP. Its definately nice and I appreciate SAPs tutorials. But they are just the basics and a lot of things are not described.
How can I create a good tree model? SAP online docu has nothing about it. The How-To paper is just for Java.
How to create a ALV with the possibility to enter data? How to assign the header texts of columns dynamically?
Ok, there are examples in SE80. But there is always one mega application handling every single UI component that exists. And then the examples cover so many topics at once that its nearly impossible to really understand a single detail.
These are the questions and topics I have. Having a couple of years experience with ABAP I am used to the fact that online documentation is more or less useless. I think you agree with me that it might also be a benefit to go through a new development topv the hard way and just try and try and try... Thats what we all are used to and thats why we are as good as we currently are.
But honestly, most of the documentation SAP provides is for me at least useless. I would spend much more time and money and help on those guys who write the How-To papers because they do a tremendous good job.
But how did you guys started with WebDynpro? How did you e.g. managed to create your first tree (dynamic etc.). I still wonder where to create the tree-structure in my program and have no clue what the "context" attribute is used for. Somewhere I have to create the hierachy, assign icons etc. like in the old Dynpro-Tree approach.
What do you think? Have I just not found all the documentation I search for? Do I simply have to spend as much time to understand how tree, ALV etc. works in detail like I did some years before in the old dynpro-world?
    Regards, Hendrik

    Hi Hendrik.
I agree with you that reading the online documentation sometimes let more questions come up than it solves.
You asked how we started with WebDynpro. So I just used the book WebDynpro
for Abap of Ulli Hoffmann which is a good entry to get the basic ideas.
Asking questions here helps a lot too.
But my basic approach was the good old try and error method. But I bet there are
still a lot of things that are possible with WD4A I do not event know abaout.
So as Mohammed mentioned  just post your questions and a lot of people here
will surely try to help you.
PS: You also should have a look at the <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP">WIKI</a>. Though it is still in the beginning it might worth a look.
<b>Appeal to all</b>: If you find the time pls submit to the WIKI. There are still a lot of open points. If you find repeating questions here please find a place in the WIKI were you could write a short tutorial how to solve it.
    Cheers,
    Sascha

  • How to start webdynpro console

    Hi,
What is path for logon to visual administrator? How we can start the j2ee engine? Is it necessary to keep start webdynpro console to develop/customize  webdynpro  (java) application?
    Thanksu2026

    Hi Kundan,
To develop webdynrpo applications u need to start the J2EE engine.
    To Start the tool:
        For an ABAP + J2EE system (J2EE Add-In):
    1)         On Windows:
    Run \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\DVEBMGS<xx>\j2ee\admin\go.bat.
    2)      On UNIX:
    Run /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/j2ee/admin/go.
          For a J2EE system:
    1)        On Windows:
    Run \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<xx>\j2ee\admin\go.bat.
    2)        On UNIX:
    Run /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/JC<xx>/j2ee/admin/go.
The J2EE Engine Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster, all cluster elements, and all modules running on them. It provides remote monitoring and management of managers, services, libraries, and interfaces working on each element in a single GUI.
Follow the help link describes all about Visual Administrator.

  • New in BI, any suggest how to start?

    Hi :
New in SAP world.  Need suggestion on how to start to learn SAP business Intelligence.
My background is oracle E-Business developer.  For reporting purpose, I am using Oracle discoverer, Oracle Report and BI publisher.  My manager wants me find some class to learn the SAP Business Intelligence.
    Question :
    1) Any suggestion What class should I take?
    2) In SAP, what is Business Intelligence?  Is that a reporting tool?  What is the role for developer in BI?  Does the developer build the basic report and then user can further manipulate the final "look" of the report?
    2) I found the SAP certification for SAP Business Objects BI.  It suggests to take Crystal reports too.  What is the relationship between Crystal report and BI in SAP world?
    Any advice is welcome!
    Fushan

SAP BI has many areas to master.  You need to decide if you want to focus on the front-end or back-end.
For front-end, you will specialize in Business Objects Business Intelligence and learn the reporting toolset.  You will need to develop skills for gathering reporting requirements, and visualizing data graphically or in tabular format.
For back-end, you will specialize in designing data warehouses in SAP BW or SAP HANA.  You will need to develop skills for data modeling and ABAP programming.
For certification, go to the SAP Education site and look at the recommended courses.  I also recommend the SAP PRESS certification guides (eg. BI 7.0) to help study for the exam.  You can also find lots of training videos and free content online thru SAP.

    Hi There,
There are lots of options, but I have found the SAP NetWeaver online help to be a pretty comprehensive place to start. Here's the link for the NW7: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/43/05e44ad1cd6e95e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm.

    Suresh babu

    Hi Suresh,
You can have the MDM JAVA API javadocs from the link
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06P2/index.html
There you can see a package named com.sap.mdm.examples.The classes in it contains some examples using which you can start understanding the code.
You need to have MDM JAR files for it. And these JAR files to be used at build time can be added to the project thru :-
Right click on project-> properties->Java Build Path - > Add external JARs
At run time you can add them the reference in
Right click on project-> properties->web dynpro references->library reference.
    Thanks

    Thanks,
    HusseinHi Hussein,
Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I don't have a CSI number or a DBA to turn to. I'm a college student, and I'm not working for an IT company. Hence I lack a lot of resources. I made this thread to see if I am wasting my time learning OAF because I can't acquire the necessary resources (db and jdeveloper).

  • How to start learning German?

I love Arch.  Absolutely love it.  But with the announcement of April 1 regarding the transition to German, I was wondering if there are any books available that will help me learn this fine lanaguage and continue using this excellent distro?
Hopefully, I would like a German version of  the edutainment game "Reader Rabbit" to begin the basics; preferably open-source, but if I must I'll get wine working if I really have to!
    Thanks, Archers!
    Gute Nacht!

If you are actually serious about learning German: First of all make sure, that you have an ongoing motivation to learn the language. If that's missing, you'll probably give up frustrated after some weeks, because learning a language can be frustrating.
Then get yourself a dictionary and a course book with many demonstrative explanations for the grammar. Start by learning the basics: nouns, articles, verbs and the basic sentence structure S-V-O (subject-verb-object). Try to find a German-speaking friend and try to practise your knowledge, even if you can only say simple things like "Ich spreche Deutsch.", "Der Mond ist rund." or a little more complicated: "Heute ist der erste April."
Also start to read as much as you can. Learning vocabularly is no fun, but it's easier if you remember vocabulary from the context, because you see that a word is important and not only word of many in a vocabulary list.
Now expand your knowledge slowly by learning more, reading more and practicing your new knowledge as often as possible and try not to get frustrated once you encounter the more challenging parts of the German language.
Also consider a stay in a German-speaking country once you have basic knowledge. You'll be amazed how fast you learn when you're in contact with native speakers - just don't get frustrated.
    Good luck!
Funny thing is that I started looking for resources to learn German this morning.
I studied it at school for 5 years (over 30 years ago) and although I can read German pretty well, albeit with a limited vocabulary, I have never spoken it since.
My daughter is moving to Bonn in May and I plan to visit her in September / October so I want to have some proficiency by then.
At the moment I am sure my grammar would be like the Englishman in Allo Allo.
