How to startup and repair my database?

I delete a datafile(.dbf, not in main folders) incautionly, now, I can not startup my oracle, how should I do to startup and repair my database(there is some important data in the database)? will you please give me some advice? thank you!

Shuts down a currently running Oracle instance, optionally closing and dismounting a database.
Terms
Refer to the following list for a description of each term or clause:
ABORT
Proceeds with the fastest possible shutdown of the database without waiting for calls to complete or users to disconnect.
Uncommitted transactions are not rolled back. Client SQL statements currently being processed are terminated. All users currently connected to the database are implicitly disconnected and the next database startup will require instance recovery.
You must use this option if a background process terminates abnormally.
IMMEDIATE
Does not wait for current calls to complete or users to disconnect from the database.
Further connects are prohibited. The database is closed and dismounted. The instance is shutdown and no instance recovery is required on the next database startup.
NORMAL
NORMAL is the default option which waits for users to disconnect from the database.

TRANSACTIONAL [LOCAL]
Performs a planned shutdown of an instance while allowing active transactions to complete first. It prevents clients from losing work without requiring all users to log off.
No client can start a new transaction on this instance. Attempting to start a new transaction results in disconnection. After completion of all transactions, any client still connected to the instance is disconnected. Now the instance shuts down just as it would if a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE statement was submitted. The next startup of the database will not require any instance recovery procedures.
The LOCAL mode specifies a transactional shutdown on the local instance only, so that it only waits on local transactions to complete, not all transactions. This is useful, for example, for scheduled outage maintenance.
Usage
SHUTDOWN with no arguments is equivalent to SHUTDOWN NORMAL.
You must be connected to a database as SYSOPER, or SYSDBA. You cannot connect via a multi-threaded server. For more information about connecting to a database, see the CONNECT command earlier in this chapter.

How to handle and Manage Multi DataBase access with LCDS in runtime ?

Hello there
I got several customer working with the same application and I wonder how, with LCDS, to manage in a runtime a multi dataBase access; without creating a configuration "mxl" file in
the folder catalina for each database.
Indeed, each customer have their own dataBase, and so far, I did not find out how to avoid creating a config xml file in catalina for every single database; which force me to create as well for each customer a folder application, since the name of the config file in catalina require a folder application to be ran under tomcat....
Thus, my question is :
Is there anyway to create only one configuration mxl file in catalina (in the server side) and then from the client side (application) let the user select its environment (meaning its database) to run the application.... this technic can be also used for multi database environment such as : Dev / Test / Prod environment (or database) where the same application can access to.
Please if any one have an idea or already delt with; just let me know, because I'm entering in a bootle neck and the situation is getting serioulsy critical....

In your operating system, and for your (very old)
version, you should have two services for each DB.
You have to set automatic startup for DBs you want to start automatically, otherwise manual. Obviously, for the last ones you have to start them yourself.

Compact and Repair Encrpyted Database Problem

I have an MS Access 2007 accdb file that I no problems with when it is not encrypted. I can compact and repair with no problems. However, when I encrypt the database and try to compact and repair the file, I get 'invalid argument'. The
file is 101 MB, I'm not at the 2 GB limit by far. Any suspicions? This file was recently imported into 2007 from 2003 (accdb from mdb). I have had the users testing it extensively. I worked through the all of the compile errors that
the previous auther left. The problems comes once I encrypt the file again and again.

After the OS installation from the original Microsoft CD you will have to install only the Toshiba drivers and tools. All these applications can be found on the Toshiba driver page!!!
I miss your notebook name in this posting!!! But I think your need drivers for Sat Pro M10! Am I right??? I found this notebook model in your other thread! Please confirm this!
Anyway, choose your notebook model from the driver download form and download all necessary drivers!

you have to set environement variables $ORACLE_HOME and $PATH in user profile ( .bash_profile in your home directory). some think like this :
export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.3/db_1
export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
after that you execute ths profile . .profile or reconnect to load the variables, you can then use netca,sqlplus or any other utilities in bin directory of your ORACLE_HOME

The fact your database is RAC has no practical effect on the backup procedures. There is only one database; you backup it up the same way you back up an exclusive database. Recovery is affected in that you will need to provide Oracle access to both archived log destinations or copy the logs for one instance over to the other instance archive log directory so Oracle can find them.

How to compress and extract files & databases from current BC site?

It's been a good run with BC, but we're under new management and are starting over with a different CMS. I would like to extract all data from the current site (text from all pages, images, pdfs, etc from media library, information from customers). I know how to export customer reports, but is there a way to compress and extract everything in a comprehensive way?

Unfortunately it's not a comprehensive as you may be hoping. You'll need to export everything using the existing tools mentioned in the article below. It's similar concept of migration one site to another.

still this could provide all the information you want
to have.
If you dont want to use the alert.log because you
need to query the information by using sql you may
consider to access the alert.log via a external table.Even the alert log may not meet the new requirements of 'all startup and shutdown history'. In a typical shop, the alert log is periodically archived or wiped.
The answer to the OPs question probably lies in creating a new table to store the v$instance information, and create a database startup and possibly a database shutdown trigger to fill that table.
Or start using Grid Control which has that information tucked away in one of the internal sysman tables.

Not able to repair corrupted database.

One of my database got corrupted and I an trying to repair by using following steps:
ALTER DATABASE [abcde]
SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE;
GO
When I excute the above, the database is in single user mode,
DBCC CHECKDB ([abcde],
REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)
WITH NO_INFOMSGS;
GO,
but when I execute this statement, I am getting an error as
Msg 924, Level 14, State 1, Line 1
Database 'abcde' is already open and can only have one user at a time, when I googled, it says to find out active sessions ans kill them to bring to multi user which I did, but how to proceed with repairing the database

Do you have a known good backup? If so the best option is to restore from the backup which would guarantee the data consistency.
Before trying out DBCC CHECKDB ([abcde],
REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)
did you try just DBCC CHECKDB(abcde) and did it suggest repair_allow_data_loss? What did it suggest? You are not supposed to directly run repair_allow_data_loss as it causes data loss which cannot be quantified.
What happened when you run the below? They should also do the repair!!
ALTER DATABASE [abcde]
SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE;
GO
DBCC Checkdb([abcde],
REPAIR_rebuild)
go

How to stop and start (restart) portal services programmatically?

Hi experts,
I develop a portal service IMaintenanceService extending IService.
The new service has some profile properties (start date, end end, etc.).
I wrote another portal application MaintenanceManager which can change these profile properties.
However, to activate the changes I have to restart the portal service.
Does anyone know how I can restart the portal service IMaintenanceService from my portal application MaintenanceManager?
