  • How do I block pop ups on my MacBook Pro - Chrome Browser

Last week I foolishly watched a stupid video on FB.
Ever since I have been getting pop up on my Mac Book Pro.
I use a chrome browser and have deleted all my history and cookies a few times and they still pop up.
It was just one, some sort of pop up telling me I need an app to clean sweep my mac. It didn't look legit so I would always close it out. Now a different type is popping up.
    Help.

Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.
    The Easy, safe, effective method:

If you are comfortable doing manual file removals use the somewhat more difficult method:

    Hi Hadosan
Please find an article on pop-blocker in the link below.

There is a section on pop-up not being block, try it and hope it solve your problem.

  • Whenever I click on something whether on line or in a document, a pop-up appears asking what I want to do, e.g., copy, cut, etc.  How do I stop these pop-ups?

henever I click on something whether on line or in a document, a pop-up appears asking what I want to do, e.g., copy, cut, etc.  How do I stop these pop-ups?

That's normal right-click behavior, if it's happening when you left-click, the first thing to check would be whether the setting got reversed in System Preferences > Mouse.

  • Every single time I move to another page, I get a pop-up. Yes, I have clicked on Tools and set browser to block ALL pop-ups. But Mozilla seems to be ingnoring.

Suddenly, a month or so ago, every single time I open a new page, Mozilla opens a pop-up window. Yes, I have clicked on Tools, etc and set my settings to block ALL pop-ups. Yet, Mozilla has decided to circumvent this setting. If this situation is not handled within a week or two, I shall find and begin using another browser (not that anyone really cares).

    What does that pop-up show?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

  • How can I force pop-ups being opened in a new tab

We've a new software which always opens a pop-up window when clicking on the Java links. The content of such a re-sizable window perfectly fits into a new tab.
I'd like to force those new windows into a new tab.
Pop-up blocker is active and that internal site is in the exception list.
So it would be nice to have an option field for that in the general settings or in the Pop-up blocker settings.
This is no bug, but could be a new feature of Firefox (like in IE).
    Thanks &
    Kind regards,
    Peter Marbler

The easy way is to install 'Tab mix plus' addon and under 'links' set 'Java script & pop up restriction' to 'open all pop ups in tabs'.
You can also use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/ to tweak a bunch of other tab settings.
There is always about:config but more often than not there is the easy way, an addon that will do it for you.

How do you unblock pop ups?

It varies depending on the browser and browser version you're using. In Safari, click on the Safari menu and turn the block off; if that's not an option, choose Preferences and click on Security.

  • How do I get pop ups to stop even with pop up blocker enabled?

Hi there! I need help soooo badly
Recently I have been getting all of these pop ups on my computer and they wont stop. My computer speed is still perfectly fine but the pop ups wont quit on my Safari and Google Chrome. I did download ClamXav app on the app store and its found a few trojans and has quarantined them and deleted them but I still have the pop ups, I also tried the Addblocker on Google and it has helped some but there are still Pop-Ups. I cant use the internet without any of these going away someone please please help me

Click here and follow the instructions, or if they don't cover the type of adware on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • I have been getting a lot of pop ups since I have upgraded to lion. How do I stop the pop ups?

I have been getting a lot of pop ups every time I get on the internet and especially if I do any kind of searches.  I never used to get any on my mac and now all of a sudden, since I upgraded to OSX Lion 10.7.4 I am getting them every time. This is making me sick! I got a mac so I would never have to deal with this stuff...
How do I get rid of them?

  • How to permanently get rid of ads, pop up surveys and all pop ups

I have recently been getting bombarded with pop ups, ads and surveys coming up on pretty much every Web page I visit. Iv tried many different things to get rid of this. Iv download ad block plus, iv removed all extensions and iv reset firefox to default settings. Resetting firefox did fix this for about 10 days but now it is happening again and is getting very frustrating. Any ideas would be appreciated

Is this problem on Windows or Mac? (I assume it is not on Android.)
If the problem is on Windows, here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning those up:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program (on XP: Add/Remove Programs). After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
    Success?

  • How do I stop safari pop ups?

Every now and then I get a pop up in safari on my ipad, just a small box saying:
    http://topappleapp.info
    Top Apple games
Free download now, the last day!
The only option I have from here is to click ok, which then redirects me to the App Store to a Bingo Bash app. I Anzac obviously just close this and go back to safari, but the website I was on then disappears and say 'Loading, please wait' but nothing loads. Refreshing doesn't help, neither does the back button.
This has always happened on the same website as far as I can remember - just a site I use for recipes called onegreenplanet.org. I have used this website so many times without any problems, but it is very frustrating when this happens.
I have turned on the 'block pop ups' (which was actually already on when this was happening), cleared history and cookies, then restarted but still get the pop up. Any ideas???

I have this problem on an iPad 4 (7.0.4) with Safari, tried 'Block Pop-ups' (was already on), 'Clear History', 'Clear Cookies and Data', restart iPad; all to no avail.
There is something about the sites you are visiting, I'm consisitantly getting it for twitchfilm.com, but not others.
Doesn't happen when I navigate to the same site with Safari on an iPhone 5S (7.0.4), or from  Safari on an iMac (not surprisingly as it is a link to the App store). I haven't tried using another browser on the iPad.
It is very annoying and has effectively barred me from visting this site due to the reasons given above.

I would like to allow pop ups but am unable to. I have tried every option in regards to the pop-up blocker and nothing works. Help! I've resorted to using Explorer for pages in which I need to allow pop-ups.
