How To Stop An MMS Download

I tried sending myself a picture message a while ago to see if I could recieve them, and I can't. The thing is, I can't get my Centro to stop trying to download it. Whenever I go to the message center, the little envelope with 0% always shows up and it's slowing my phone down. Sometimes I can't even turn the screen off to save power.
Is there any way I can get my centro to stop trying to download this?

nothing you can do.
either let the downloads finish or send an email to the iTS customer service using this form and ask the folks there to remove the item(s) from your download queue.

How do you stop an app download when you accidentally hit the download button on iPad 3?

I think the question isn't about purchasing but actually downloading. For example if you see that there is an update available and you start to download, lose internet connection, the application will essentially be locked from use until the update finishes.
I ran into this problem on holiday where I tried to update Camera Awesome but the internet was painfully slow (56k or less speeds). The application started to download but was taking literally hours to complete. In the meantime I couldn't access any of the photos within that application or use it for new pictures.
In short, any application that is being downloaded, installed, etc will be unavailable until that process completes.

  • How to stop Mail from downloading automatically even it is set not too

My mail programme preferences are set to download manually.
In advanced, the account is not 'included in automatically checking for new mail'
I use scripts to send mails after certain tasks are ready. Sometimes (randomly) mail all of a sudden downloads all mail.
Anybody know what could cause this?
How to stop it as I do not want it to download mail at all as I use an other programme for reading and writing mail.

    Hi Mulder
What you're describing doesn't make sense. Mail doesn't download mail if it's set to wait for a manual initiation.
    I know however...
But once that is check is initiated, any and all waiting mail will be downloaded.
    I know.
I've never heard of this happening before, to anyone. Unless your preferences are corrupted, which there's no indication of at this point, something else is triggering Mail to check for new email.
I never heard either, hence posting
But if you're using some other program for sending and receiving email, why would you have that account setup in Mail, as that would defeat the purpose of supposedly using that other program. If you really want to eliminate the possibility of this happening, you would need to delete that account in Mail, and backup the mail for that account before you delete it.
complex issue, but rather keep both programmes.
Otherwise, we need more details, including which version of Mac OS X you're running, and the other program that you're using for email.

    It so is!
Just a guess, you could also eliminate the incoming mail server information and eliminate it's ability to download (...I do not want it to download at all...).
If I do that (and no it never needs to download only upload) Mail flips out as it wants the information. I tried this.

  • How to stop email attachments downloading?

    Hi
I have a POP3 account and regularly get large image files sent to me that I don't need to view until I get home. I do need to be able to check the rest of my emails though. Is there a way i can stop the iPhone downloading attachments, or place a size limit on any attachments it downloads.
If I'm abroad I'd still want data roaming because I'd like to check emails, but the bill for attachments will be horrific?
    Cheers

    No there isn't.

  • How to stop an app download

I have several large file sized apps that are requiring 'updating'. Some of these apps have already started to update on my device, but I have paused them because not only do I no longer want the apps, but I don't want to incur the heavy data download. How then can I delete an app that has already begun to 'update'?

    nothing you can do.

  • How to stop Mail from downloading automatically?

I have the preferences for mail set to download manually. however, every time I send a mail or sometimes when I start the programme it downloads the mail. anybody know how to fix this?

In Mail preferences, select the Accounts section. For each account, go to the Advanced tab and make sure that the 'Include when automatically checking for new mail' option is unchecked.
    That should do it.

  • HT1491 how to stop iphone from downloading shows

I bought a season pass to a show on my iphone but I don't want it to download to my iphone. But it's cued up and I can't delete the download.

If the restore process is restoring photos it is in the "background" restore mode.  While it is recommended that you let this complete, if has already been several days and  you can stop the process by restarting the phone.  To do this, hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  (Apple estimates that it can take up to 1-4 hours per gigabyte for the restore process to complete.)

  • How to stop iPad from downloading emails from months ago

I have a bellsouth.net mail account and my iPad keeps receiving emails from months ago and says I have over 10,000 emails yet to receive. How do I stop this and get only recently sent emails. Help it's driving me crazy,

    Hi-
Using your account page on your email server, there should be a way to delete all old emails.
I have mine set to delete automatically after a set time period. In this fashion, all received emails, whatever the device, are only recent mails.

  • One Apple ID for many phones. How to stop all phones downloading the same app?

    Hi everyone,
In advance, I'd like to thank you for taking your time to read my question and helping me.
Currently, many members of my family have iPhones, ranging from 4 to 5, and for the sake of convenience, I set them all up using my Apple ID. Recently, each time one of us downloads an app, all the other phones automatically download them too. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I'd like to keep the phones all on the same ID, so is there a setting that I change so that our phones will not receive each other's downloads?
    Thank you all again.

Click here and use the instructions to turn automatic downloads off.

  • How to stop e-mail downloads once in email app

Really annoying thing: First, it's bad enough that you HAVE to download e-mails as soon as you press the e-mail app, rather than choosing which account you want to collect e-mails from once the app is open (only way round this is to completely switch off individual accounts).
But even worse, I find that once I'm in the app and e-mails are downloaded, switching between accounts downloads AGAIN. In other words you cannot just "view" the e-mails on one account then switch to another to "view". Each switch to the other account invokes another download even if you just did so ten seconds ago.
If there is a way around this I would be grateful to know.
If there isn't, then this is a major flaw. Sometimes the user simply wants to view headers in a particular e-mail account, not perpetually download everytime a n account is accessed.

I assure you I haven't misunderstood in the way you imply. In (nearly) all other respects the iphone is fine. It is now widely accepted that iphone's e-mail client is inflexible and not very good.
If you run multiple e-mail accounts you do not always want every account to download every e-mail. When away from my office for example, I don't want all my personal e-mails downloaded every time I press the e-mail icon, especially if there are lots of them (including the usual liberal dose of spam). I just want to download urgent business e-mails which require an urgent answer. But this is not possible unless I laboriously go into settings and manually switch the whole account on or off. But if it is off I cannot get into them just to view the current e-mails there.....I am forced to download a new lot.
Let's look at an average PC or Mac e-mail client: You can choose to immediately download e-mails on opening it, or for it to be permanently accepting e-mails as in the background, or you can choose to start the app and THEN choose which accounts you want to upload and download.
You cannot get anywhere near this on the iphone. Sure, there is "push" and "fetch" and "manual", but it isn't really "manual" at all. The problem is that unless you completely switch off each account, you'll get every e-mail currently on your ISP server. You also cannot simply view the current e-mails without downloading fresh ones. The whole point of a half decent e-mail client is that it does what YOU want it to do, not what it dictates.
The solution is simple: To have the OPTION of opening the e-mail client and THEN deciding which account you want active, or to download to. If it wasn't for the fact that Apple clearly doesn't want any rivals to its own core apps, this would have been implemented by a third party years ago.

  • How to stop music automatically downloading?

Right, so I bought an iPad air for my daughter to use for school. I'm an experienced Mac user, but thus far have managed to avoid iOS 7 (or any version of OSX higher than 10.6) but with the iPad I don't get a say, unfortunately.
Anyway, after throwing up a few times and buying some extra dark shades, I managed to bring myself to using the iPad. I set up with my Apple ID, applied restrictions, downloaded a few apps and songs I'd bought for her on my iPhone and all seemed good. Then I shuffled songs in Music and found that it downloaded a song from my purchased list that I hadn't specifically installed. I've turned off any form of automatic syncing and definitely not subscribed to match. So I was rather surprised (and annoyed) - and now have a couple of questions...
    1) Is there a way to turn this off?  I want to control what is on this device, thank you very much...
    2) Are content restrictions still applied?  I can live with the Evita soundtrack, but really do not want to find "I wanna xxxx a dog in the xxx" by Blink182 going on there, amusing as the song might be to an adult.
Hopefully someone can shed some light, this kind of scenario is exactly why I'm still running earlier versions of OSX on my Macs...
    Ta.

I Love your style And your way with words!
On her iPad go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Automatic Downloads> Turn off auto downloads for songs, apps and books, this way, whatever you download on your devices will not download to her iPad. Do the same thing on your iPhone, you can do likewise in iTunes on your Mac if you download content in there, but once you turn off auto downloads on her iPad, she will not get your stuff and you are controlling what she downloads, so her stuff will not end up on your devices.
On her iPad also so go to Settings>iTunes & App store>Show All>Music>Off and Videos>Off. You may have inadvertently downloaded one of your purchased songs by having this feature enabled. When this feature is turned on - all of your purchased music will appear in her Music App - with a cloud icon next to each song. If you tap on the cloud icon, you can download the song right in the music app and don't have to go to the purchased tab of iTunes. The same thing applies to purchased videos.
What happened really doesn't have anything to do with restrictions, so as long as you enabled restrictions properly, you should be OK.

  • How do I stop iTunes from downloading multiple copies of a TV show?

This is driving me nuts.  Using Doctor Who as the example, for each episode released, iTunes tries to download two HD copies and one SD copy.  I don't need the SD, nor do I need to duplicate HD.  Yet I can't stop it from trying to download them when I start iTunes, nor can I figure out how to permanently remove or cancel a pending download.
Anyone have any idea how to stop this?
    -- edit ---
Didn't have much luck matching search terms for this before posting, yet after posting links came up referencing other queries in which people asked how to stop iTunes from downloading the HD and SD versions of a TV show.  Consensus seems to be that iTunes will always download each version, which is just plain silly.  Haven't seen any explaination, however, on why it then tries to download a second HD copy.

That is correct.  This is the way it is ALL HD purchases come with the SD version.
