How to stop annoying Skype update requests???

I do not have time to read what new Skype update is about, and I do not want to risk my privacy by installing frequent Skype updates without knowing what this updates changes.
But - Skype annoyingly insists on updates, showing update reminders every day!!! It is annoying. And no "Skip updates" button.
How to switch off those annoying update requests?
Skype version 5.9.0.115

uninstall the current Skype with Revo (delete all registry entries found)
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
install again with this link

  • How to stop annoying auto scrolling in window

I'm running 10.8.5.  Since upgrading to 10.8.5 from 10.6.x, my system has been doing two VERY annoying things.
    1. Within a window, if I have a file selected (highlighted), say at the bottom of the window.  Then I scroll all the way to the top (not selecting any other file), and the selected file is off screen (can't see it).  I would then copy a file from another window to the first window (the file being copied starts with "A" so it should show up where I scrolled to at the top in the first window), once it's finished copying over, the window will automatically scroll down to the file I had selected earlier.  Without fail.  This actually happens with any other activity being done on my system.  Window ALWAYS scroll to the highlighted file where ever you are in the window.  This has never happened with 10.6.x or earlier OS X.
    2. This one seems to happen randomly.  Whenever I select a file to change it's name (doing a single click on the name bar), instead of the file I hit being editable, 10.8.5 would select a random file down the list instead.  Making THAT file editable.
Anyone else experience these?  Is there a fix, or an option somewhere to turn these ridiculous features off?
I really don't know what Apple is doing these days.  But it certainly is no longer the user friendly and reliable system I've used for over 20 years.  It's all about glitz and glam, no real functionality for old school power users.  Instead of being a unique system like it used to be, it's now just a glorified version of PC.  Just costs a lot more.

  • How to stop GPS auto update on C6

hi everybody, I have nokia C6. My problem is that its downloading all the time some GPS updates which cost me a lot MB to pay. every day is downloading 12 till 20 hours non stop. My battery is dieing every day becouse of this. Please help, how to stop this download
       thanks

GPS is for positioning (use of navigational maps..) whereas GPRS is using Internet..
If you rae having problem of GPRS then it must be connected to some applications on the phone which are running in the background... Some applications are set to  update at regular intervals(e.g. some Weather widgets..).. some syncs at regular intervals(e.g.e-mail / Mail for Exchange..) Even if you are using GPS there are various methods and ways like using the A-GPS or Network for initial positioning.. using the maps in ONLINE mode.. ets...
So best thing is to go to each of this and set Updates/ Sync to 'Manual' also under 'Destnations' settings for each access point you may define 'After confirmation'..so that everytime it will as if you want to connect to internet.. and for maps.. use OFFLINE mode with Integrated GPS method..

  • How to stop iPhone app updating on iPad

I installed the Ebay app on my iPad - it was the yellow one for phone and pad. It worked fine. A few weeks later they released an iPad version which I downloaded just fine and deleted the iPhone version from the iPad.
Now of course the iPad wants to update the old version even though I've deleted it from the iPad. I can't delete it from iTunes because it's on my iPhone.
Anyone got any ideas how to stop it asking to update on the iPad?

You can view the last 90 days purchases on your account (and optionally contact iTunes Support if you have a problem with one of them) via http://reportaproblem.apple.com - that should let you see your in-app purchases, as well as other purchases (apps, music etc).
(You can only view your account's full purchase history via the Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes.)

  • How to stop pages 5 update installing

the Pages 5 update has somehow appeared in my itunes app list (the previous version is no longer there).
However, as I have not yet updated my iPad to iOS7, when syncing I get the message 'Pages was not installed as it needs a newer version of iOS'
Now that I want to accept the update my iPad to iOS7, how do I stop the Pages upgrade installing automatically? I really cannot use pages 5 in it's present state and just want to stick with my existing version

If you update to iOS7 you will lose the previous iPad Pages and it will be updated to the latest version Pages 2.0?
The added complication is that Apple is passing all your documents through iCloud whioch is altering them to the latest Pages 5 format.
Apple is pushing you relentlessly to stuffing up your files one way or the other.
The only way out is to use the iPad as is in iOS 6, or in isolation. Passing documents to your Mac via iTunes or eMail.

  • How to stop constant keychain login requests

I keep getting " Calendar agent wants to use "login" keychain " also with Mail too.
I'm new to Macs but I certainly want to stop this happening constantly.
    Ta for any suggestions.

I have the same problem. I tried to click "reset my default keychain" though, and it said it couldn't obtain access to do that, then the login keychain disappeared totally. I had to do keychain first aid, which added a new empty login keychain, then I tried the "reset default" again, and the login keychain disappeared again.
I know how mine got broken: I forgot the password to get into my MacBook Pro, so I followed some sort of instructions to reset my Mac password.
I got back into the Mac, and everything was just as I left it, but now I'm getting non-stop requests like nross5's that Calendar agent, Mail agent, Safari, Local Items, etc. want to use login keychain.
I've tried doing keychain repair, changing the password, tried reseting to default as suggested by Dib, and I'm still getting these requests. Do you have any recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Mandy

  • How to Stop annoying  ozmail zmail text messages from 11-801-222-2269

Get a tech on the phone and your problem will be resolved.  dont even bother with trying to do yourself.  I  just upgraded to the droid 2 global from LG Envy.  every 20 minutes or so was getting messages from the same number (which looks like international) with either zmail or ozmail in the heading with brew:///.....    googled the problem.  seems like a lot of people had the same issue. read all the resolves to do myself, replied stop, went on my verizon put in the number to block without the 11 since it only allows 10 digits, and put the block on zmail.com and oz.mail.com..  still got the messages.  Several posts said tech support really was no help because they suggested to change their cell number.  But another said get the right tech on the phone to fix because it is a email messaging problem.   I called suppor;t the person I initally spoke with was not tech but put me on hold while she called over.  She said "the only way to stop the messages was to change your number".!  Wrong!!!   I said it is a problem that many people have when upgrading to a smart phone from another cell phone that was subcribed to email.  I also told her from what I read in the verizon forum that not everyone in tech support knows how to fix this and will just say to change the number, but find someone there in tech who knows and has dealt with this issue.  After a few more minutes on hold i was transfered directly to a tech person.  This was not the person who said to change my number.  She knew exactly what the problem was; brought up my account saw that I had "email messaging alerts" which was from my hotmail set up for my old phone.  She stopped the alerts and said they messages from ozmail, zmail will stop.  Also this will have no impact on recieving emails, messages etc on the phone.
so far, all day not one message from........  Also I was told if I get a bill for responding to the text to stop to call to get it taken off.. just make the call and an be insistent if need be to get to a tech who has dealt with this.  hope this helps.

Where are these settings you're talking about?
    atweet wrote:
Ok,  After spending countless days, phone calls and reviews on forums I found way to fix the issue with OZMAIL text messages.. To remove them you must have your old phone with you.  Simply go to
Email> Mobile Email>select accounts to delete.
Once you select delete accounts through this you will no longer have your old phone's setting in your phone and your new one won't provision any more unwanted texts.  The reason be is that you created alerts in your old phone to get updates when new messages come in, so by deleting the email from your old phone you no longer will receive updates to your new phone.
I sent myself a few emails to see if this is a fix and it works!

  • How to Stop Finder WEBDAVFS from requesting .hidden, ._Directory , ._FileName files after Remotes File System Mount has happened?

    Hi,
After I have mounted remote directory on Finder , Finder requests for all file types including .hidden, ._Directory , ._FileName files and all such files which is creating havoc to the performance of the Finder.
Case 1 : In one Directory I have 500 files+directories. When the Finder tries to fetch the directory content it is sending requests for even .hidden, ._Directory , ._FileName files and so the request count grows exponentially causing breakdown for Finder. Its taking 10 mins to load the directory. The same directory request when posted by Transmit by Panic it loads within 30 secs. Transmit do not send request for ._*  files/directory.
I am rejecting request for all hidden file request but they keep on coming in thousands.
Case 2 : Finder tries to refresh the file listing whenever the Finder window is brought to Focus.
Any help is appreciated. When I try to use find for such files to delete I see no listing!
    Used : ls -1aR /Volumes/InquiraWebDAV

  • 10.4, How to stop plug-ins update reminder, Windows fix does not work on Mac.

Need to get rid of bar across top saying plug-ins are not up-to-date. The "fix" posted for Windows does not work on my Mac. When I try for updates, none seem to install. How do I really find out if the ones I have are the latest available for my system? Everything seems to work OK as is. Could it be that my Mac is PPC and that there are plug-in updates that would work in 10.4 on Intel but not on PPC, and that FireFox cannot differentiate?

Setting the Boolean pref <b>plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin</b> to <i>true</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page should hide that info bar.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at the top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean) or by double-clicking the line with the pref
*Preferences can be created via the right-click context menu: New -> String, Integer, Boolean
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and a Mac with an Intel processor.
