How To Stop Bridge Rebuilding the Cache Unnecessarily

The Problem
For me, this problem was manifest on a MacBook Pro with an external hard drive attached. The hard drive would be perpetually working and both it, and the laptop, would be getting extremely hot as a result.
Bridge would keep rebuilding the cache in folders to which the cache had been exported; and even when the contents had not been changed, nor the folder renamed and/or moved. There was, therefore, no reason for Bridge to rebuild the cache – but there it was churning away.
The solution
The solution is simple, once you have eliminated all the other possibilities (see below) – and that is to increase the Adobe Camera Raw cache to something substantial (between 10 and 20 GB). This will eliminate the endless rebuilding. This can be set in Camera Raw's Preferences.

I discovered this solution on the Lightroom Forum, from users who were complaining of Lightroom being slow. The explanation is that Lightroom derives its preview images from the Camera Raw cache. Clearly this is also true for Bridge. If the cache is too small it may be that the preview images have been deleted to make way for other more recent ones and so it will have to 'rebuild' the cache deleting earlier preview images, thus producing an endless re-cycle of rebuilding – again and again.
The deriving of preview images from Camera Raw's cache seems also to be confirmed by the behaviour of Bridge should Camera Raw be engaged on another task. If this is the case, I have found that when using Bridge to view images it will start to rebuild its cache until Camera Raw is freed-up and then it will stop (having found the preview images it needs).
Other Possibilities
The above solution comes with the caveat that Bridge's cache is not corrupted; and that in Bridge's Preferences ‘Automatically Export to Folders Where Possible’ has been selected, and the cache items have been set to maximum (Bridge Preferences > Cache). If using an external drive the drive preferences should be set so that it does not sleep.
I hope this helps other who have struggled with this problem. $35 please, Adobe.

From what is said in the link it does not follow that it will reduce rebuilding the general cache as it is only cacheing raw image data, but if it works who am I to say what is going on.

The right answer is to log a case with Cisco support to get official steps.
What we do here (an Oracle DB):
- bring down CM
- make an export of TES schema (optional)
- run the clearcache.sql script (in the ../cache/tes6.0.0.0/cachesql.zip) to drop schema objects.
- verify that sql ran correctly and scheme is indeed empty
- restart the CM - in our case it takes 2 - 2.5 hrs for cache to be rebuilt (the secondary sync completed to show up)

Oracle Apex is an API, if that helps you understand / visualize. You do not start Apex process nor stop it.
When an Apex session starts it starts calling the API.
You can however start / stop the listener. It may be OHS, ApexListener and the J2EE container running it, OC4J or any other "server" that you are using.
The built-in EPG is something like an API again, you cannot start / stop it but you can disable/enable it with DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT API.

This is usually a sign that your iPod's headphones are not plugged in all the way. Make sure that you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug. You should hear a sort of popping/clicking noise when inserting the headphones letting you know that they have been fully seated.

How to stop "FROM AROUND THE WEB" and "You May Like" from coming up on each page that I browse

It is very frustrating when I am on Mozilla looking at various websites and on each page that I go to either "FROM AROUND THE WEB" or "You May Like" come up in the middle of the page with links to other websites that I am not interested in viewing.
Also when I am shopping on the internet another pop up called Deals, brought by iWebar keeps popping up and also "Deals" by Deal Finder. I did not change any of my settings, I only updated Mozilla Firefox and then all of these things started happening. This is very frustrating and I want to know how to turn this off. I did not sign up for any of these things, and want to be advised on how to remove them.

You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this adware. Be very careful what you agree to install. 
Adware gets on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker.
You can use the below steps to revert back to adware-less Firefox.
1) Reset Prefs
*Navigate to '''about:config''' in your Address Bar
*Press the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button to proceed
*Search for iWebar and reset all prefs that pull up by right clicking > Reset
2) Remove any programs that you don't recognize or remember installing from your Control Panel (Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program)
3) Remove any extensions that you don't recognize or remember installing from Firefox.
*(Press the menu button ([[Image:new fx menu]] > Add-ons > Extensions)
4) Download ADW Cleaner to wipe out any remnants of the adware.

You may find that it's not a 'Bridge' thing. I presume you are on a Mac... and have the lastest OS?
When you do a hard shut down and then restart, any apps that were open will re-open.
Also if you quit a program with something open. Quitting and restarting the program automatically opens what was previously open.
I find that I have gotten into the habit of closing before quitting... quite annoying.
I hope I didn't go off topic too much...

How do I know if the caches are doing what they should be?

A while back my computer suddenly slowed down a lot. I downloaded an activity monitor program to see if I could identify the problem. I found that no matter what was running or not running, the file cache always takes up any remaining memory I have. I keep seeing people saying on forums that the caches speed your computer up, they save time by saving app info, it doesn't help to delete them, etc. And yet, my computer takes ten times as long as it should to do anything. Is it possible that way more things are trying to be cached than there should be? People keep saying they are there to speed up the computer, but no matter what I do, it seems like that is the problem. Is there any way to verify that the cached files are the problem, or if it's something else?

JPA -- How can I turn off the caching for an entity?

I have a problem that I will illustrate with a simplified example. I have created an entity:

The cache is likely turned off, but you can't tell because you are using the same transactional EntityManager instance for the two queries. The EntityManager requires its own cache for object identity and transactional purposes, as once you read an object in through the EM, the spec requires that all subsequent reads return the same instance. Only the EntityManager refresh will cause a refresh, that or setting your queries to use the toplink.refresh and toplink.cache-usage query hints.
I would strongly recommend you use a query cache for performance, but there are of course reasons why one might not be the best option.

I have many nested movieclips in different positions of the main timeline.
I have 2 buttons, play_btn and pause_btn.
I'd like when the user click pause_btn, the animations on the main timeline and in nested movieclips stop.
Whe he click play_btn the animations resume in both the main timeline and nested movieclips.
I have created array of nested movieclips on the main timeline.

I'm having the same issue.I have a main timeline, which has nested movieclips with there own timelines and motion tweens. Using the new motion tween, and not the classic tween, which may or may not be the problem.
Was having a similar issue with stopping the timeline, the main timeline would stop, but the nested movieclips would keep going. Found this blog post that helped.

Used the code below to stop everything by passing the stage as the displayObject. Worked great, but now i'm having the reverse issue. When I resume play, the nested movieclip timeline stays exactly where I stopped it, and the main timeline resumes play. If there are a 100 frames in the nested movieclip, once it reaches the 101st frame, the main timeline kicks in again.
