How to stop DW putting Dependant Files?

I've never found a solution that's worked for me, but today
I've had enough!
I have setup site access via RDS, so there is no 'Local' set
of files, I'm working directly on our development server and saving
the files, and testing changes immediately.
I like to save often and keep checking my changes so that I
don't break anything, but everytime I save, DW spends 20+ seconds
putting dependant files.
My dreamweaver preferences for dependent files are set to
Prompt, which it certainly isn't doing.
How can I resolve this? thanks.

As long as you use an FTP & RDS site, there is no such
thing as PUT. There
is no local site. Edits are immediately saved on the server.
But - check your preferences for Site and make sure that the
PROMPT on
PUT/GET is ENABLED. Then save, and when prompted make sure
you a) click the
don't show again, and b) you click NO. Does that help?

How to turn off "putting depending files" ?

Is there such option in DW ? I do not upload automaticly all the related files, I just want to upload one saved file. Anyone can help?

When Dreamweaver displays the dialog box that asks about uploading dependent files, select the "Don't show this message again" check box, and click No. Dreamweaver will remember that you don't want to put the dependent files.
If you can't see the dialog box, go to Preferences (Edit menu on Windows, DW menu on a Mac), and select the Site category. Select the option for Prompt on put/check in, and click OK. The next time you upload a file, Dreamweaver will ask you if you want to upload dependent files. Select "Don't show this message again", and click No.

I used a third party programme called Mackeeper UGHHH,it moved loads of files to the trash now i do not know where they originally came from or belong!! the put back option is in grey??how can i manually put these files back where they belong?SO upset!!

i have been researching and racking my brain on how to put these folders and contents of them back to where they once were all of the contents of the folder are still in tact AND i have not emptied my trash,my programmes and some of my apps are not working properly now...i use my computer alot for making music and things are jumbled up now...

hello there thank u so much for ur reply!! ok i uninstalled mackeeper now and the put back option is still in grey im so confused...i tried restarting my computer like u said and put back still in grey??!! the files that are in my trash are everything from Accounts,address book plug-ins,address book,adobe,aim.........then stuff like apple,Audio,....to caches color pickers,colors,com.apple.TCC,to DVD player to facebook,google to ilifemedia browser to itunes to keychains to movie effects,preferences printers to skype...my Native instruments files BUT not all of them my garage band but not all of it...it seriously looks like my whole library is in the trash i tried to put things back where i THINK they belong and it just added the item or folder under where i thought it went and didnt restore functionality to for instance google chrome and all my book marks are there....they seem to be only certain things from my library that would have added some functionality to apps and programmes like my garageband is missing stuff photobooth wont work so on.......kinda looks a bit like this thats only the half of it!! But, I don't see anywhere on it the name of which file I'm trying to put in this instance. (It did show up in a dialog just prior to the "put dependent files" dialog, but now is obscure.)
Is this configurable, or should I raise an enhancement request....?

Are you downloading the file (right-click, save link as), or just opening it by clicking it?
If the latter, then what happens is the file is loaded to the temporary internet files folder by IE and assigned a temporary name, which is then used when you're trying to save it.
You can test this out by going to File - Document Properties before trying to save and looking at the file's location.

Put dependent files? Selecting "Don't show me this message again" will hide this dialog until re-enabled from the Site category of the Preferences dialog box. Your most recent choice (Yes/No) will be processed automatically while hidden.

What don't you understand about it?
Dependent files are the ancillary files contained in your document like scripts, style sheets, images, videos, etc... If you click "no," DW will NOT automatically upload those files to your server. If you click yes, DW will automatically upload those files to your server.
If you don't want to see this screen again, you can turn it on/off under Edit > Preferences > Site.
I prefer to keep it turned on. But that's up to you.

Dreamweaver CC not prompting to put dependent files when uploading ColdFusion .cfm files?

I just 'upgraded' (if you consider DW CC an upgrade) from CS6 to CC, and am having problems with .cfm files.
I have followed all the instructions to get DW CC to open and edit .cfm files..... and it does this just fine. I have also installed the server behaviours and databases panel extension.
However heres the BIG problem: when I want to upload a .cfm file to a server, I am no longer getting a prompt to upload dependent files! It prompts me fine if I upload a .html file, but not .cfm.
I mostly work with .cfm files and make changes to CSS files regularly. Whenever I upload a .cfm it is essential that DW also uploads the dependent files associated with it.
Please how can I fix this issues? I have gone into preferences and all the boxes are checked correctly to prompt for dependent files when putting/getting. I'm so stuck I'm thinking about cancelling my CC products and going back to CS6.

I have now discovered that DW CC does not prompt to upload dependent files if the file extension is .CFM or .ASPX.
This is seriously frustrating Adobe..... !!!

How to stop iTines from deleting files automatically

I'm running the most recent version of iTunes on a 64 bit Windows 7 box. iTunes deletes all podcasts immediately after a single play. In settings, "use default settings" is unchecked; "Episodes to keep" is set to "All episodes". Anyone got any ideas?

How to stop adding " copy" to file names?

First off, I don't mind the save as a copy feature. If I have a psd file with layers and smart objects and such, and I Save As > JPG, I don't want the jpg open, I want the psd open. I like how PS does that behavior, but I don't like how that jpg gets " copy" added to it's file name. Yes it's easy to remove, but I'm using a batch action on over 300 pictures, I don't feel like renaming 300 jpg's. Yes it's supposed to be a safety net, but I basically never work from jpg's as original's, and if for some reason I do, I set them as read only and copy the files off to a safe location, so I don't need it.
I know it's possible because my old school's computers with photoshop CS5 never saved jpg's with copy in the file name. So, how do I stop PS CS5 from adding copy to my file names? Because I need photoshop to not add copy to my file names on my work computer (and it's my old school, can't use their computers or ask someone why it's like that).

ikumajap's response made me realize the reason the "save as copy" is greyed out is because it has layers. So all you have to do is add a "flatten image" action first, then a new "save as jpg" that does not include the copy. I tried adding flatten to my old action but it still added "copy" so you do have to make a new save action. This, of course, will not alter your original file as long as you don't add a plain old save in there first.

How to stop automatic back-up files when working in Word?

Whenever my wife is working on a Word.doc, the computer is saving an inordinate amount of "back-up" files without her wanting it to. Is there some "control or switch" in the Microsoft Word program that can turn off this option? She's terrified of deleting any of these ersatz files (at least in my opinion) and they are just taking up space and confusing her.

If Word for Mac is anything like Word for Windows, in Word's Options under Save, you should be able to turn off AutoRecover. It may be called something different in Word for Mac, but I believe the option is there.

Why do you need to find each others devices though? Do you lose them often?

How do I stop automatic placement of files as a smart object in Photoshop CS4?

I have done numerous searches on the internet to find out how to stop Photoshop from placing files as a smart object. I followed the suggestion of going to Edit > Preferences > General to uncheck the "Place or Drag Raster Images as Smart Obejct" but that option does not appear in Photoshop CS4. Does anyone know how to deal with this issue in CS4?

This may sound strange, but to avoid the "Smart Object" designation, just stop "placing" the files. Either open them, or copy and paste them into Photoshop.
If you're just opening raster files in Photoshop, they come in as pixels - drag a newly opened raster file onto your target Photoshop file. If you're copy/pasting art from Illustrator, you can choose at the time whether it is a "Smart Object," or "Pixels." Sounds like you want pixels.

I had that problem when I was working on a website at school
using a mac but when I used it at home on a pc it was fine. Im not
sure if this will work for you (it did for me) I just moved the few
pages into a new folder and redefined the site. It worked for me im

For one thing, your page is too wide and offset 350px to the right. On my display, I have to horizontal scroll quite a bit to the see it. Not a good user experience.
Explicit height values on containers limit how much content your page can hold. This will create problems later when you need to add more text.
