How to stop email attachments downloading?

Hi
I have a POP3 account and regularly get large image files sent to me that I don't need to view until I get home. I do need to be able to check the rest of my emails though. Is there a way i can stop the iPhone downloading attachments, or place a size limit on any attachments it downloads.
If I'm abroad I'd still want data roaming because I'd like to check emails, but the bill for attachments will be horrific?

Yes, you CAN use the mobile OR the desktop version of GMail web mail to manage Google mail from the iPad.
By as pointed out, if you set a passcode or pin (preferably the former), your iPad is AUTOMATICALLY encrypted. Whilst locked there is no way to access the encrypted data.
So choose a reasonable passcode and you will be very safe unless you are someone either high-profile or wanted by a government agency! In that case, I am guessing that there would be sufficient incentive for someone to brute-force entry.
Also note that the default settings mean that after 6 incorrect passwords, you are forced to wait longer between attempts and after the 10th attempt, the iPad is automatically wiped clean of data. For the really paranoid, these settings can be configured using the enterprise configuration tool for iPhones/iPads.

works ok on mine - (5, 7.1.1). Try again. with previews set to none, mine shows the sender and the subject line only. (you cannot get rid of the subject) with the other settings, you get the sender, subject line and however many lines you selected.

How to stop email chaos?

Does anybody know how to stop email chaos with the new mail program that "intuitively" groups messages together so you cant find them anymore? I just want all my emails on their own as they come in. I dont want whatever layer of AI they are trying to layer over this because it doesnt work.

Email attachments download as ashx for Microsoft Outlook, instead of jpg, pdf, doc, etc. Tried to fix in Preferences Applications but still doesn't work.

Using MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Downloaded Firefox 8 on 11/9/11 and now Microsoft Outlook Web App 2010 downloads all email attachments as "attachment.ashx" instead of jpg, pdf, etc. This was not a problem with previous Firefox releases which I've been using for the past couple of years. Can open files if I edit the extension to the proper variety (ashx to jpg for example), but no longer initially automatically opens. Instead I first get a "can't open this file" message. Attempted to fix in Firefox > Preferences > Applications by indicating the proper "Actions" for various "Content Types" but this had no effect. Chrome and Safari browsers still work properly. How can I fix this?

Desktop clutter: How to stop opened attachments from saving on desktop?

Hi,
Every time I open (not save) an attachment, a copy of it is automatically saved on my desktop. My desktop continually gets cluttered. I've searched on my computer but can't find where I'd go to change the default settings so this will stop happening.

Thanks. I am referring to email attachments. I always use Mozilla Firefox to open up email attachments. In Firefox Preferences under the download tab you can choose either "Ask me where to save every file" or "Save all files to this folder." I've set it to "Ask me where to save every file" of course yet this is still saving to my desktop. Further, I don't even want to save the files, the files always save to my desktop when I just try to open, not even save, an attachment.

How to stop Mail from downloading automatically even it is set not too

My mail programme preferences are set to download manually.
In advanced, the account is not 'included in automatically checking for new mail'
I use scripts to send mails after certain tasks are ready. Sometimes (randomly) mail all of a sudden downloads all mail.
Anybody know what could cause this?
How to stop it as I do not want it to download mail at all as I use an other programme for reading and writing mail.

What you're describing doesn't make sense. Mail doesn't download mail if it's set to wait for a manual initiation.

But once that is check is initiated, any and all waiting mail will be downloaded.

I've never heard of this happening before, to anyone. Unless your preferences are corrupted, which there's no indication of at this point, something else is triggering Mail to check for new email.

But if you're using some other program for sending and receiving email, why would you have that account setup in Mail, as that would defeat the purpose of supposedly using that other program. If you really want to eliminate the possibility of this happening, you would need to delete that account in Mail, and backup the mail for that account before you delete it.

How to delete email attachments from server

I created an a CF template for sending e-mail which includes
attachments. It has been tested on my dev box and is functioning
fine as the attachment upload to a designated directory on the
server. I would like the attachments to be purged once the e-mail
has been forwarded to the recipent.
In Macromedia's ColdFuision 7MX web application construction
book page 913 "Interacting with Email" there is a CFC that will
delete the file when the user ends their session.
I am not sure how to write this to fit the code I am using.

The tutorial only explains how to delete the attachment when
the recipient checks there mail
in the POP server.
Assuming that the sender is in a session would the code be
written to delete the attached file from the directory on
the server one the e-mail is sent.
Can someone explain how to automatically delete email
attachments from a designated directory or provide me with the code
that would handle this after an email is sent with attachment.

I don't know why your dos code didn't run. It could be
addressing. My limited experience with cfdirectory/cffile/cfexecute
is to type out the complete path at least once.

Hard to say, depends on what else you are new at. If you are
new to html, then htmlgoodies.com has good tutorials. So does
webmonkey.com. If you have trouble with sql, I have heard good
things about the SAMS book, Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes by Ben
Forta. I learned javascript by buying the book Teach Yourself
Javascript in 24 Hours. The O'Reilly books are also good. I learned
awk with one of those books.

of the pages. If it says Reefmaster, I used an external strobe. If
it says Sony I either used the camera flash only or natural light.

I tried sending myself a picture message a while ago to see if I could recieve them, and I can't. The thing is, I can't get my Centro to stop trying to download it. Whenever I go to the message center, the little envelope with 0% always shows up and it's slowing my phone down. Sometimes I can't even turn the screen off to save power.

I think the question isn't about purchasing but actually downloading. For example if you see that there is an update available and you start to download, lose internet connection, the application will essentially be locked from use until the update finishes.
I ran into this problem on holiday where I tried to update Camera Awesome but the internet was painfully slow (56k or less speeds). The application started to download but was taking literally hours to complete. In the meantime I couldn't access any of the photos within that application or use it for new pictures.
In short, any application that is being downloaded, installed, etc will be unavailable until that process completes.

Just a guess, you could also eliminate the incoming mail server information and eliminate it's ability to download (...I do not want it to download at all...).
If I do that (and no it never needs to download only upload) Mail flips out as it wants the information. I tried this.
