How to stop Firefox extension 'Shop Helper 0.91.32' from self installing?

Over the last several days the extension Shop Helper 0.91.32 appears on the Firefox browser extension list and creates hyperlinks in many webpages. I have disabled and/or removed this extension several times and it still reappears. 'Shop Helper' acts like a virus, but my Norton s'ware doesn't see or stop it.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
* [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]
* [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility]
* [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
* [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

    How to stop Firefox from checking for add-on compatibility every time it opens?

    That can be a problem with the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder.
    Try to rename (or delete) the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder to see if that helps.
    You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    You can also check for problems with preferences.
    Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

    Hi Nodpete,
    Is there an icon for Resoft on your main menu? If so, you can remove it by holding your finger down on the icon until it starts shaking, then tap the red X icon.

    There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
    I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

  • How to stop Firefox incessantly interrupting my work by trying to install an update incompatible with the Google toolbar which I depend on.that does nor

    Dear Sirs,
    How can I stop Firefox from incessantly interrupting my work by trying to install an update that is incompatible with the Google toolbar which I depend on. Not knowing any better, I trustingly allowed the installation the first time the update notice appeared. It crippled my Internet routines. The toolbars did not work and the bookmarks as well as all the history entries were lost, I have had to reinstall my previous Firefox 4.0.1 and start all over again.

    Hi chib60,
    Sorry you are having so much trouble.
    Dealing with your last comment first ''"Copy and paste the information from Help > Troubleshooting Information." Why? How? This is ridiculous info - it has no logic or sense to it like most of your advice. ''
    If you look to the right you will see a link for 'more system details' that is where such troubleshooting information appears, and it can sometime be helpful.
    I am using firefox on a couple of old XPs without problems. Obviously crashing is not expected behaviour, but please try to think of firefox as two separate parts the basic browser and all the additional software as addons and plugins.
    It may be rather unrewarding trying to track down the cause of a crash using crash information, the best way forward is probably to start using it in[[safe mode]] and with no plugins installed.

    If firefox is recommended by your university, why not try it out on one of their computers, presumably it is installed on the university computers available in the library etc, that should at least convince you that it does work.
    I hope the problem is not malware, but if it is all the personal computers you try, a possibility that can not be discounted is that it is some form of malware affecting those computers.
    Have you tried Internet Explorer, that will be installed on your XP by default I imagine, does that work ?

  • How to stop Firefox from launching everytime I turn on my MacBook?

    Hi Everyone,
    Everytime I turn on my MacBook, Firefox launches. It really bugs me, and I tried to stop it, but couldn't find how, either in system preferences or in the firefox menus.
    Can someone please help and tell me how to stop it from happening?
    Thanks already,
    Quentin

    This usually happens because you've added the application to the Login Items list in the Accounts preferences. Open Accounts preference, click on the Login Items tab, locate the Firefox entry, select it then click on the "-" button to delete it.

    It could be a bug in the Flash Player plugin, caused by the protected mode feature. This thread has the background on that and known workarounds: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].

  • How to make Firefox notify me every time other software tries to install ff plug-in?

    If I'm noy confusing things, there was a feature that informed a user about new plug-ins insltalled by other programs.
    For example, I install VLC media player. VLC ff plug-in is installed also. What I want is: the next time I launch firefox, a message appear that asks whether I want to use new plug-in (VLC plug-in) or not.
    Sorry for my english, thank you.

    when we said Add-ons, we mean extensions, themes, and plugins, it is all types of add-ons (if i understand clearly what you ask), see: [http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-or-remove-add-ons#os=win7&browser=fx16 Disable or remove Add-ons].
    but if you install a program outside of firefox you can not take any notification from firefox, it is not possible, like downloading new version of Flash player, then install the version with closed firefox, you can not take any notification but when you open firefox you can see that Flash player is updated.
    thanks

    Hello,
    We have a business scenario where we are deriving scheduled ship date and scheduled arrival date outside and then imported in the instance with the order. However we find that the scheduled ship date and scheduled arrival date are defaulting to sysdate. The atp flag is set to N for these items. • How to stop Firefox 4.0 to auto download?

    After the countdown end for Megaupload, Firefox automatically download the file. How can I stop this?

    Mozilla simplified opening Firefox in the SafeMode, and got rid of the Program Files menu item for it.
    As '''alan_r''' mentioned, you can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    Or you can use the Help menu item, '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running.
    To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut ''(without the Shft key)'' to open it again.

  • How to stop Firefox in Mac from starting plug-ins automatically?

    Is there an extension that prevents Firefox from launching plug-ins automatically? When I open a new link, any video on the page will automatically start playing, usually after I've scrolled past the video to read what I came there for, so then I have to scroll up or down to find it in order to stop it - wastes time and slows down my browser - at least it appears to do so. Can you help? Thanks

    Individual plugins can be set to "click to play" so that they do not start up automatically. You can give sites permission to run plugins on a page-by-page basis or on a site-by-site basis.
    Open the Add-ons page to the Plugins section:
    Tools menu > Add-ons > ''in the left column, click'' Plugins
    Then for Shockwave Flash, for example, or for QuickTime, change the selector from "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate"
    When you reach a page that wants to use one of these plugins, you will see at least one of these:
    * icon in the address bar that looks like a piece of Lego
    * notification on a dark gray rectangle where video normally would appear
    * infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the top of the page
    In the dialog, you can approve the plugin for the current page, or "remember" it which approves all pages on the site.
    Give it a try and see what you think.

  • How to stop Firefox messages on home screen?

    Since the last up-grade of Firefox for Android, I get unwanted pop-up messages at the foot of my browser 'Awesome' home page. the messages pretend to be helpful but they are just cheesy adverts for something or other e.g. 'Hey, if you want x, you should check-out y!' etc. I use Firefox because with an ad-blocker it cuts off most internet advertising. But the ad-blockers only stop adverts associated with websites. These adverts seem to be streamed from Mozilla. They infuriate me. I want them turned off.
    Details - occurs on all of my Android devices (Samsung Galaxy 3 phone, Sony Xperia Z tablet, Onda v989 tablet). I have Android Kitkat on all devices. Firefox for Android 34.0 released 01/12/2014. My add-ons are Bluhell and Desktop by Default.
