ewaller wrote:Well, if I catch you before you waste your time, try rebooting, edit the kernel command line in grub and add '3' at the end.
Or boot from your install media, mount / at /mnt, and edit your /etc/inittab or /etc/rc.conf, depending on how you are staring GDM.
Grub bootloader  failed to be installed on my system. so i have installed Syslinux. And in Syslinux, i  did'nt  find  any option to edit.
However, i have re-installed Arch and now Arch-gnome up & running.

    I have just updated to iOS7, no icon for browser, was using Safari, how do I get it back and can I reverse the upgrade and go back to iOS6?  Thanks to you from the UnTechie

    The icon for Safari has probably moved to make room for new apps. Scroll the Home screen to look for it.
    You cannot reverse the upgrade.

    Backup to what? If you have the old computer and don't have a backup then I suggest doing so, not just for this situation but it's a good idea in general to have important data backed up.

    I was just wondering if anyone knew how to stop the iPhone from backing itself up every time it syncs with iTunes. I sync my iPhone throughout the day, and can't wait for it to back up every time I plug it in. I usually just cancel the backup, but wish I didn't have to.
    Is there any way to stop it, other than just hitting the cancel button when you plug the iPhone in?

  • How to stop executing a piece of code after displaying the error message?

    Hi All
    I'm new to ADF, I am doing validation in java class. Like when i click the button, the control goes to a particular method, where i have written the below statements
    public void fetchValues(ActionEvent actionEvent){
    String firstName = getFirstName() == null ? "" : getFirstName();
    String secondName = getSecondName() == null ? "" : getSecondName();
    if(firstName.equals("") && secondName.equals(""){
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    FacesMessage msg = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, null, "Please enter the values");
    context.addMessage(null, msg);
    System.out.println("Exited"); // Even if validation fails, this line is being executed. Could anyone tell me how to stop executing this line if validation fails ?
    Regards
    Venkat

    Just add a return; at the point you want to stop execution.
    public void fetchValues(ActionEvent actionEvent){
    String firstName = getFirstName() == null ? "" : getFirstName();
    String secondName = getSecondName() == null ? "" : getSecondName();
    if(firstName.equals("") && secondName.equals(""){
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    FacesMessage msg = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, null, "Please enter the values");
    context.addMessage(null, msg);
    return;
    // UNREACHABLE System.out.println("Exited"); // Even if validation fails, this line is being executed. Could anyone tell me how to stop executing this line if validation fails ?

  • How can I put everything back in my iPhone to the new iTunes?

    My computer was broken down and I bought a new one.
    I download an new iTunes, of course nothing inside!
    I just want to know how can I put back all my things in iPhone to the new iTunes!
    That's means I have all the things( songs, apps...etc ) in my iPhone and I just want to copy those things fully to the new iTunes, without losing anything!
    Looking for help and thank you so much!

    You should be able to:
    Backup the device to the new installation
    Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
    Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post
    Restore the device from the backup
    This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
    May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
    When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • How to stop Time Machine backing up on a specific external hard drive?

    I work on a iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, with Mac OS X 10.6.8. I use two external hard drives that are the exact same model, 2 TB WD My Book 1110 Media: one is intended for back-up, the other for storing video editing files. They're both connected through USB 2.0.
    I set the "back-up" hard drive as back-up disk for Time Machine, through the Time Machine preferences. Now, everytime I connect the "video" hard drive, Time Machine recognizes it as a back-up disk, and starts backing up on it. I could delete the "Backups.backupdb" file that Time Machine had created by connecting the "video" hard drive to another Mac and moving it to the Trash, but as soon as I reconnect the "video" hard drive to my iMac, Time Machine backs up on it again.
    Is there a way to "de-select" a hard drive from Time Machine's list of back-up disks?
    Note: I should mention another thing that might indicate a conflict. When both hard drives "back-up" and "video" are connected to my iMac, if I open Final Cut Pro X, I can only see my "back-up" hard drive. To access the files I am working on, I need to eject the "back-up" hard drive, and suddenly the "video" drive appears.
    If you have any idea of how to solve this conflict... I am a bit lost.
    Thank you!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Give them unique volume names using Disk Utility.
    Then set Time Machine back up to that unique volume name.
    For example, I regularly use 4 external drives (though they're not all the same model).
    The descriptions quickly tell me which drives I have connected to my MacBook when open Finder:
    My Time Machine backup volume is named 'Time Machine 1TB'.
    My iPhoto backup volume is named 'iPhoto Backup 320GB'
    My iTunes backup volume is named 'iTunes Backup 120GB'
    and the last is 'Windows 7 Backup 250Gb' but since it's a Windows volume, it is formatted NTFS.
    This likely means that you will have to erase and repartition one of your drives to name it.
    You MIGHT be able to rename it using Finder, right-clicking on the volume, and selecting Rename (current volume name).
    WARNING: I can't be certain of what just renaming it that way could screw up in the way of permissions and file links.
    Within Disk Utility, it seems it is absolutely not possible to change a volume name without clicking the Partition tab, and that involves erasing.
    Given the choice, I'd probably choose to rename (erase and repartition) the Time Machine drive. A current backup or two on Time Machine, and I'm good. I don't really need to go 'way back' to recover files, because I really don't ever erase anything. I just keep buying bigger drives!
    And I still burn the 'absolutely critical, priceless, can't ever be without this stuff' files to DVD or CD at least monthly or quarterly, in case one of my TM or backup drives fails at the same time as my primary hard drive. Call me paranoid, but I worked in Information Technology for many years: Murphy was an optimist!
