How to stop iCloud from loading old emails?

iCloud is running amuck syncing thousands of old emails on my computer onto my iPhone!!!!  HELP!!!
I transitioned to iCloud and although over the years I delete emails off my phone, they remain in my inbox (as an archive of thousands). Now iCloud is intending to load them onto my iPhone, 50 at a time.  Is there a setting where iCloud will leave these alone and stop trying to upload them?

Go to setting, then mail, contacts, calender then scroll to bottom and set show to number of message

How do I stop iCloud from automatically opening email attachments in Firefox?

    Hi
This may have something to do with the "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" option being enabled? Click on the iCal Menu > Preferences > Advanced. It may also be the Alarms setting? This is for 10.6 iCal so it may be in a different place for 10.5?

  • How to stop iCloud from signing back on

Because apps always crash when iCloud is on, I wanted to sign off iCloud. But there's a REAL problem.
iCloud keeps signing back in! Pages, SimpleText, Keynotes, et al won't load document windows at all with iCloud enabled but if I sign out, it signs out and I could open the app... but minutes later, iCloud just signs back and it gets to stop apps from opening!
    Here's what I do.
Open System Preferences. Click on iCloud icon. Sign out. It will bring up dialogs asking me to delete or not. I delete them. I don't want iCloud because it's just not mature.. it makes too many mistakes in terms of user interface (which is a shock considering Apple should know better). It signs out and it shows two textboxes with Apple ID and Password as placeholders. If I leave it alone, I can open the apps and a blank document window (or theme chooser) appear.
Then I close the System Preference. I again open System Preferences and click on iCloud... it's BACK ON! I never signed in! And once again, apps won't open at all.
I've tried EVERYTHING without luck. I turned off iCloud account and it still doesn't do a thing.
How do I stop iCloud from signing in? And even better, is there a way to remove iCloud from Mac?

This does not work for me. It only hides the videos in the cloud I have not on my ipad air.  The videos I already downloaded are still there, taking space.  When I look at the TV shows in the itunes interface it does not even show that they are on my iPad.  I tried adding them, syncing.  Then it shows two copies (both run) of said videos.  I delete the video and only the one added from itunes is deleted.  The copy I downloaded and watched from iCloud is still there and not removable or deletable.  I did not have this problem in iOS6. I could manually delete videos no mater what way I put them on the iPad within the itunes interface.  This is a new iPad air that I setup as new, using the iCloud to populate the apps and settings, and then I added some stuff manually from cloud.  It seems to be alot diffreent in how it operates though and I had this with my old ipad3 and iOS7 as well.  Hiding the videos does not remove them...what do I do now?
Since it is a fresh, new ipad setup that took quite some time to get passwords and such setup or from cloud settings I hate to reset and start over, that is a pain.

  • How do i stop my ipad from loading old emails from my imap account?

i have a problem with my ipad loading old messages instead of new messages from my imap email account.  Anyone know how to fix it?

If emails are being deleted, then it's not the Apple products, it's the POP account.  When one device reads an email, it's removed from the server, so the other devices can't get that same email.  That's a POP account.

  • How to stop iCloud from sending meeting requests

I have a situation where an iCloud Calendar has been set up with many meetings with attendees for a business (appointments for a hair salon).  We created these "meetings" by dragging people from Contacts into Calendar, thinking this was a good way to have their contact info handy.
I don't want to send people updates or requests or invites or anything - it is confusing everyone and there are some 100 meetings that were set up and if I delete the attendee to just try to turn this into a "local" meeting for strictly my reference, they are getting a message that the meeting has been canceled.
    Bah!
Is there a way to just stop sending these messages?
If I just delete the calendar that has all these meetings, will iCloud send out 100 emails telling everyone that those meetings are cancelled?
    Thanks for any help here....

  • How to stop downloading 10,000 old emails

I've just got a new iPhone 3G today, and have managed to start receiving emails from a POP account on it (although I can't yet send any; another question...)
The phone has found the 'loads of emails' on this account, and is now downloading them in batches, going back in time, each time it fetches mail. Following another suggestion on here that worked for someone else, I created a new archive folder for these emails on my Mac, and removed them from the Inbox into here so that the Inbox is now empty, but still they come.
I'm sure that there's something really stupid I'm doing, so would appreciate it being pointed out ever so gently...
    With thanks.

    Allan,
Thanks for your reply, and for putting me right on the other 'solution'.
At the moment, the Mail.app doesn't remove messages from the server at all, it seems (I don't think I've ever looked at this before). Would you recommend that I remove them all, then, and have it set to remove them after retrieval? I have also been accessing them via webmail sometimes, also, which I suppose I won't now be able to do, although perhaps I don't now need to, thanks to the iPhone.
Not that I fully understand such things (obviously) but having looked at some other Q&As, it would seem that an IMAP set-up would be better than the POP one I have; should I see if this is possible?
Thanks again, and with best wishes,
    Jeremy

  • How to stop iCloud from sending invites to other member of shared calendar?

My fiance and I both have iPhones and each have a shared personal calendar. When I update my calendar, which is shared with her in read-only mode, she gets an invitation notice in her calendar to 'accept' my calendar item. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to prevent this from happening. It would be ideal if I could create a personal calendar item and it would not notify her when I did so. Of course, she could always go into the Calendar and look to see what's in it, but it's annoying that it notifys her every time I add something.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
We each have an iPhone 4 running iOS6 if it matters.

  • How stop iCloud from marking craigslist emails as junk?

Craigslist has instituted a new email replay system to help avoid spam. Now all of replies to my ads are only found in iCloud junk. Is there a way to turn this off but leave other junk filtering place? How long do they stay there if I don't look at them right away?

Not sure if it will work or not, but you could try setting up an email rule that moves them to your inbox (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a3f8a).  I believe junk mail remains until you delete it (unlike your trash folder, which is automatically deleted after 30 days).

  • How to stop Thunderbird from reloading old messages?

Thunderbird is downloading over 12,000 old messages. How do I get it to stop? I had to use another email address to get the email for verification from support. HELP!!!!

Thunderbird keeps track of What is downloaded and what is not in a file called popstate.dat If something damages that file or more commonly of late the provider re-indexes the messages on the server and allocates them new reference numbers. Thunderbird is flying blind, what it has is invalid and it has no way of recovering other than starting over.
ATT and Yahoo (those I am aware of) have re-indexed mails frequently over the past year, but there are occasions when a mail provider must do that. Say when they get new mail software from a different company.

How can I stop the Apple Update Manager from trying to constantly install the iCloud control panel? I am never ever ever going to install this thing, and it is getting annoying seeing it pop up every other day to install something I have no desire to use.

  • How to stop icloud from removing outlook calendar? very frustrated!

Two problems happen when icloud runs in win7 and outlook 2010:
    (1) icloud remove all outlook calendar without syncronizing.
    (2) icloud does not sent out new invitation events.
I am very frustrated because icloud is supposed to syncronize without changing anything in my outlook. I should say I really hated it because of frustration, and more importantly hours spent on trying to fix it without success.

    Backup
    (2) icloud can not send invitation from the outlook even after I setup the icloud mail in the outlook because the icloud addin can not be loaded in outlook. Again, many users have this issue, yet unanswered by apple or microsoft for many years.
iCloud was released in Oct 2011, 1 year and 7 months ago.

  • How do I change from my old email provider to the new one so when i click on a web link I dont get the old proviser which I no long have?

Often webpages contain links to someone who can be contacted just by clicking on the contained link and then one's email service pops up with the required email address etc filled in. However i have recently change service provider and I still get the old provider showing which I no longer have, when I click on such website links. How do I get the new provider to show?

For Firefox you would generally have Use system default if on your system , or choose a web based system such as GMmail
:T00ls > Options > Applications > mailto: (drop down has choices)
    Windows OS
:Control Panel > Default Programs > choose program if on your system or Firefox if web based email

  • How to stop mailbox from automatically deleting email in trash

I would like to be able to store deleted emails indefinitely until I empty the trash mailbox. Even though I check "never" in the mailbox behavior, it only keeps the messages for 30 days.

To add to what Glenn has said, note that I have done exactly what you want to do in Mail for some time without seeing messages older than 30 days get deleted.  So I think you've got something else that's deleting those messages.
One other note: it's very easy to accidentally empty the trash and lose all those messages.  So I would recommend cleaning out the trash periodically and moving those messages to some kind of archival mailbox(es).  I keep a series of "On My Mac" mailboxes called "Trash 2012," "Trash 2011," "Trash 2010," etc, and I periodically move all messages from the trash into the appropriate mailbox.

  • How to stop icloud from sharing files w multiple iphones

My husband and I both have iphones on a family plan. However everytime one of us downloads an app or itunes or change a contact in our phone, it changes the other phone as well. I tried turning off icloud in the phone but it still does it. It is extremely annoying, I would appreciate any help

we cannot then find each others's devices anymore.
Yes, you can. Just log in to the "Find my iPhone" app using the Apple ID for the device you want to find.
Why do you need to find each others devices though? Do you lose them often?
If you're actually using "Find my iPhone" as a way to keep track of each other, then you should be using the "Find my Friends" service and app on your devices.
