How To Stop Itunes From Continuous Play?

I'd like to only play one album at a time in Itunes on my computer but continuous play seems to be automatic and there are no options to control this in the Itunes preferences...?
I notice it happens a lot but it happens 100% of the time if I enter a name/style in the search bar of Itunes. For example if I enter "rock" in the Itunes search bar Itunes will play every single rock album even if I only pick a single album or even track to play.

I don't. I make them only for certain favorites I play a lot. I also use the search and let it bring up the person or songs I want and play from the playlist that way too. That is one thing I love about itunes. There are sooo many options for playing

  • How to stop iTunes from adding songs to library automatically???

I love iTunes and almost everything about it. Pretty much the one and only complaint with it is that every time I download a music file (not to my music folder), iTunes can be completely shut down, but starts up and adds the file to my library. I download a LOT of random files that I listen to once and delete immediately, or I will download music to one folder and move it to my music folder at a later date, so having iTunes automatically adding all of these files to the library on its own free will is going to force me to uninstall it. Is there any way to stop iTunes from doing this?????? Even if it were to just add the files only if I played them in iTunes vs any file I add my my computer?

I think you aked this before and didn't get an answer. I don't really know, but here goes.
Any thing iTunes plays it adds to the library and I guess that iTunes is set as your default player for the type of file you are downloading.
You don't say exactly what you are doing but you are using another program to download music files. I am guessing that somewhere in the Options or Settings of the program you are using there is a setting to play after downloading, maybe you can turn that off?

  • How to stop iTunes from looking in old media folder location?

Several years ago, I moved my iTunes media onto an external drive attached to my Airport Extreme, because I was  running out of room on the internal drive.
I had all the usual problems with iTunes looking on the internal drive, but it mostly worked okay, as long as I didn't mind only being able to access my music at home.
A few months ago, I got a 2TB internal drive, and told iTunes to use the default media folder location on the internal drive again. I also check to keep iTunes media folder organized, and to copy files to the iTunes media folder when adding them to the library. I had already manually copied the folder structure over from the external drive.
I noticed that when I would start iTunes, I would see the activity light on the external drive, and it would be mounted on my Desktop. I checked, and the location for the media folder was still correct in preferences. I checked a file or two and (this seems to be gone in iTunes 12.1) it was still showing the file location on the other drive.
I tried to manually "cut the cord" by renaming the folder on the external drive, but iTunes was cleverer than that.
What do I need to do to stop iTunes from looking for files in the old location? I'd like to reclaim that space, but I'm afraid to remove anything over there, in case iTunes has been putting things over there instead of the new, correct location.
    This is a MacBook Pro 8,2 i7, with 10.10.3 and iTunes 12.1.x.
    Thanks,
    Sean

Manually moving files yourself and telling iTunes where to store media in preferences does not do what oh so many people who come here with issues think it does. Changing iTunes' media storage preferences only tells iTunes where to store new media.  iTunes still looks for old media where it last saw it, namely on your external drive.  You have to let iTunes do the relocating of the old media files by consolidating to the internal drive.  It will cheerfully ignore any changes you do in Finder yourself.

  • How to stop music from auto play on car charger?

I have a USB port in my car and whenever I put my iPhone 5 on charge it automatically starts playing my iTunes music. I don't want it to do this bc it interferes with whatever we are currently listening to in the car. Is there a setting or something I can change?

When I download an MP3, it starts auto playing in iTunes once the download finishes.  I called Apple support but as usual, they had no idea.  Any one know how to turn off auto play?  This started once I upgraded to Yosemite.

  • How do I stop iTunes from continually restarting on my system?

    System: Lion 10.7.2
    iTunes Version: 10.5
iTunes starts on my system automatically.  Even after I 'quit' the program, it starts again.  Even went to Activity Monitor and 'killed' the iTunes process and the Helper process, but to no avail.  This is somewhat disruptive and utilizes system resoures that I would like to control.  Any suggestions?

    Go to apple top left
    open system preferences
if running LION click on users and groups
unlock lock in bottom left it will ask for password
towards the top right it will state next to password "login items" or startup items click on this
it will display the programs that automatically start when turning on your computer...
if "itunes app" is in the list highlight it and then towards the bottom  there will be a "+ -" sigh click on the minus it will ask to confirm if you want to remove the application from starting and then exit all applications
After restart of computer itunes should not autoload
Remember lion will remeber all applications that are open when you shut down even if you don't see them on the screen they maybe runnign in teh background.

  • Can someone tell me how to stop itunes from saving my media to two files?

I know the answer is simple...but I can't seem to find it in plain english!
So i bought a new used computer (lol) and took all my backed up music from my external drive and dumped it right into my computer. Put the whole MUSIC file into finder, under the "Music" section...then when that was done I dragged it into iTunes.
Well lo and behold my 500G hard drive is almost full! AGH! So i tediously went through files on my itunes, deleting all I could. Everytime it asked me if I wanted to move the files to the trash and I said YES!
Ok...so after hours of that, i look in my Music file in Finder (which now has a new folder from my external called MUSIC) and lo and behold...every file i deleted is still there!
So, I'm no dummy. I guess iTunes makes a new folder of iTunes media, something like that? Doubling everything?
I will gladly delete everything and start over if I must, but can someone please tell me how I can put music files on my computer without them doubling, or how to delete them and have them actually delete?  Settings?!
    help! Thank you!

Adding music to iTunes will copy it into the iTunes mdia folder.
Put it into /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Automatically add to iTunes older.
This will move (not copy) the media.
You can delete the files you originally copied into the Music folder.

  • How to stop Flash from automatically playing videos?

Some web pages have, either for advertisement or content, a box playing videos automatically. An example is Yahoo Finance playing Bloomberg videos. It costs bandwidth on some devices. I was not able to find any way to stop it. Some advices found elsewhere recommended checking ActiveX Filtering. In Yahoo case it doesn’t work. What else can be done to stop this behavior? Windows 8.1, IE11, FP 16.0.0.235.

I revive this question. Maybe this time somebody will know the answer.

  • How to stop iTunes from launching when iPhone is connected?

I have the "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods" checked in my Windows version if iTunes. But when I try to charge my iPhone, it still comes up. Is there any way to disable this. Windows also detects a camera device. I do all my iPhone stuff at home on my Mac, but at work I have a PC and I want to be able to charge my phone using the USB cable. But I don't want iTunes to launch or the PC to detect the camera device. Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks

    SteveFLHTCI:
Here's what I did using Windows Vista Home Premium. First, when I connected my iPhone, an AutoPlay dialog box popped up asking me what I wanted to do. Towards the bottom, there was some blue text that stated "Set AutoPlay defaults in Control Panel" and I clicked on it. When the Control Panel AutoPlay applet opened up, I scrolled down towards the bottom and found a list of devices which included "Apple iPhone." From there, I selected "Take No Action" from the drop-down list and have lived happily ever after.
    Hope that helped. Good luck.

  • How to stop videos from automatically playing in safari?

Recently, when I open various web pages in Safari 7.0.6, running OS 10.9.4 videos will start playing immediately.  Sometimes 4 or 5 on one page all at once.  I did a search for this issue and found the suggestion to run click to flash.  I have it installed and turn on so that isn't a solution at this time.  Another suggestion was for clicktoplugin but I do not find one with that name.
This is very annoying as they often come on very loudly and I have to scroll up and down the page trying to find the window or windows with the videos playing.  They can be way down at the bottom of the pages.
Can anyone help me fix this?
    Michelle

Click to Plugin is what I use. It is available here:
    http://hoyois.github.io/safariextensions/clicktoplugin/
I set the preferences to pre-load but NOT play even after I click  on something I want to see.

  • GRRR!   How to stop itunes from opening when plugging in touch??

the option "open itunes when the ipod this connected" is grayed out, on the Summary screen, in itunes. I've googled and others have had this same issue with NO ANSWER.
EDIT: s c r e w it. I got took ituneshelper out of startup, using msconfig. it shouldn't require these kinds of workarounds!

Image Capture only has an import into option.  There is no option to select what happens when a specific device is plugged into the computer.
The settings in Image Capture are specific for each of your iPhone, iPads, cameras.
Plug in each of your iOS devices. Select it in the devices list.
The set "Connecting this iPhone/iPad/Camera   opens" and set it to "No application".

  • How do I stop iTunes from automatically adding mp3s I've downloaded to my library?

As I make a variety of YouTube videos, I tend to scrawl the web for various sound effects and music I can use in my projects. I sample all of them online before downloading, but it seems that whenever I download an mp3 to my desktop, iTunes seems to get a mind of its own and go "Hey, let me add that to the library and play it for you." That's not what I want to do at all, and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to stop iTunes from doing so.

Windows Media Player can often be the culprit, with iTunes revealing edits that WMP has made in the background. See this post for suggestions. The most important bit is setting the options as per the fourth image which will stop WMP making changes in future. iTunes will carry on revealing any damage that has already been done.
A slightly more obscure possibility is that your edits haven't taken, either becuase the file is locked (iTunes won't raise an error) or occasionally because multiple tags are involved and iTunes writes to one, but reads back another.

  • I have itunes set up to sync with my Ipod Touch and my Ipad.  As of today, it keeps looking for an iPhone to sync with and give me an error message.  I don't have an iPhone and don't know how to stop it from popping open with this error message.

I have Itunes set up to sync with my Ipod touch and Ipad.  As of today, iTunes has started searching to sync with an iPhone, which I don't have and pops open with an error message stating it cannot locate the iPhone to sync.  I have looked in devices and only the iPad and iPod Touch are listed.  Any ideas on how to stop iTunes from searching for any iPhone it is never going to find? It is annoying to have it popping up all the time with the error message.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • How do I stop iTunes from downloading multiple copies of a TV show?

This is driving me nuts.  Using Doctor Who as the example, for each episode released, iTunes tries to download two HD copies and one SD copy.  I don't need the SD, nor do I need to duplicate HD.  Yet I can't stop it from trying to download them when I start iTunes, nor can I figure out how to permanently remove or cancel a pending download.
Anyone have any idea how to stop this?
    -- edit ---
Didn't have much luck matching search terms for this before posting, yet after posting links came up referencing other queries in which people asked how to stop iTunes from downloading the HD and SD versions of a TV show.  Consensus seems to be that iTunes will always download each version, which is just plain silly.  Haven't seen any explaination, however, on why it then tries to download a second HD copy.

That is correct.  This is the way it is ALL HD purchases come with the SD version.
