How to stop itunes quitting in the middle of playback

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how to set my iTunes or Mac up so that iTunes won't quit in the middle of playback? I'm streaming to my TV using Apple TV, and after a while, my screen goes blank and when I go back to my computer to check, I find that iTunes has logged out or quit. I've already set my energy saving preferences to 'never sleep' but this still happens and there is no iTunes preference to prevent it from happening. Any help would be most helpful. Thank you!

  • Songs stop playing randomly in the middle of playback

I just upgraded to 7.6, and now I can only listen to between 5 and 30 seconds of any track before the audio just cuts out. It's as if someone pulled my headphones out of the computer, but it happens when I'm just using PC speakers, too.
    * The song continues to "play," that is, the progress bar continues to move forward without any audio actually coming out.
    * If I drag the progress slider a bit, pause the song, restart it, or jump to the next track in the list, the audio restarts for another 5 to 30 seconds.
    * If I don't touch anything, when the song gets to the end (no audio), it will progress to the next track. After about 5 seconds, the next track will play for a few seconds before cutting out.
    * One of the stereo "sides" (left or right) will cut out before the other one.
    * I have the latest audio driver.
    * I have the latest iTunes.
    * I have no third-party plugins.
    * I have enabled "Maximum Hardware Acceleration"
    * The "Sound Enhancer" in iTunes is off.
    * I have the latest version of DirectX
This is incredibly annoying. What's up?

Gosh, guys, thanks for all the great help.
It's the Cisco Systems VPN client. Whenever it's connected, anytime another program makes a noise, iTunes stops playing music.

Not a new problem, it seems.

  • I have transfered my library my library to a NAS drive. How do I stop Itunes from creating the default folder on the local drive?

I've transferred my Itunes Media Library to a NAS drive, and pointed Itunes (using the advanced preferences tab) to the relevant folder on the NAS drive. I have done this to free up disk space on a computer I primarily use for work but which I use both at home and at work. The NAS drive is at home. (To clarify, I am not expecting Itunes to function at work, only at home when access to the NAS drive is available).
Under certain circumstances Itunes will start-up at work and when it does it will create the folder structure for the Itunes Media Library in the default location (on the local drive) instead of looking for the location I have specified (the NAS drive) which it should not be able to find when I am at work and telling me that it can't find it (which would be fine).
How do I stop Itunes from recreating the default folder structure and defaulting the file path to the standard media library location on my local drive? Every time this happens I have to re-point Itunes to the NAS drive location, which often requires me to reconsolicate libraries which is tedious and time consuming. It seems that in the process of one of these consolidations I have lost some of the media files. They are still in the library (ie. visible in the Itunes window) but Itunes can't find the media associated with that file - identifying them with an excamation mark "!".
Any help with this would be appreciated, as I have read several forums and threads, and despite trying several different approaches I have been unable to address the problem, which appears to be exacerbated by the laptop being remote from the NAS drive.

Can I put the ".itl" and other database files on the NAS, and if so where would I put them? I'm thinking that if the library file is only available at home then the ITunes library won't get corrupted at work when it can't find the media, in the event that I accidentally start up itunes eg. while opening an attachment or disc that can be read by Itunes.
iTunes will start up and you will have an empty library.
Can I put the ".itl" and other database files on the NAS, and if so where would I put them?
    Yes.
    Quit iTunes.
Copy the /Music/iTunes/ folder on the NAS.
Move the /iTunes media/ folder currently on the NAS into  the /iTunes/ folder you just copied to the NAS.
Hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the NAS.
You can delete /Music/iTunes/ folder on the internal drive.
If you launch iTunes while NOT comnnected to the NAS, iTunes will recreate the /Music/iTunes/ folder and you will have an empty library.
WHen you are again connected to the NAS, just do step 4 above.
Do you know what the advantages and disadvantages are of having the database files like the ".itl" files stored locally versus on the NAS?
Keeping everyhing together inside the iTunes folder makes it "cleaner" and simpler to manage everything.

  • ITunes has stopped working right in the middle of updating my new iPhone 4 software...

I just bought the iPhone 4 (not 4S) and plugged in into iTunes. It did a lot of updating and downloading. It says right now under Summary, Software Version: 5.1. And the Updating iPhone software bar has stopped moving right in the middle of the line. My iPhone has that image of the USB with the white arrow below the iTunes logo on the screen right now.
I cannot exit iTunes or the pop-up will say that the iPhone is being updated, do not exit iTunes.
I am really unsure of what to do here. I tried two different iPhone USB plug-ins and that didn't help.

First, in iTunes, launch Preferences and go to the Devices tab. Check the date and time of the last backup. If it is recent you can restore it. However, if you mean you have the photos back in your Camera Roll then the backup was already restored. To get your music and apps back it should just be necessary to click "Sync".

  • Song quits in the middle on 4th generation iPod touch - HELP

My iPod touch 4th generation quits in the middle of a song.  Then it will play a song all the way through once or twice before it quits in the middle again.  How can I stop this?  Please help

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, and it does not connect to other networks, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Hp 8600 quits in the middle of a print job

I have an HP 8600 that when I send a large print job stops printing in the middle when I print from mail merge.  I get no error message on the computer, it just stops printing.  When I check the print job status it gives me an "error - sent to printer" message, but there is no error message on the printer.  I restart the print job from where it left off and it will print a few more and give me the same error message.  So I restart again from where it left off and it will print for a little bit more and stop with another error message.  Each time I restart the printer prints less and less of the job.  Say I have 100 entries to print, I'll get 50 the first time, then 25, then 15, then 5 then...well you get the idea.  Its more than a little frustrating.
I forgot to mention I am working on a 32bit Windows 7 premium system loaded on a Toshiba Satellite
I also forgot to mention that when it stops, the last page it prints is blank.

    Hi hp_issed & TXGabe,
I understand that both of your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printers are not able to print correctly and quit in the middle of jobs.
What is the firmware version of the printer? click here to find out how to retrieve it.
Which Windows operating system are you running?
Is the printer connected via USB, ethernet or wireless?
Is the power to the printer connected directly into a wall outlet or a surge protector?
    Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • TS1362 some songs quit in the middle of the track even though there is time showing. It goes right to the next song.

Songs quit in the middle of the track even though there is time showing. It goes right to the next song. Can I fix this or recover the full song?

I just found out how to solve the problem today
Go to the original location of the song. Meaning, if the song file is on the desktop then go there and individually click the songs and they'll play on Itunes perfectly fine
I'm not sure why this happened but I hope that works for you!

  • IPad quits in the middle of many apps

My I pad seems to quit in the middle of a variety of apps making the unusable.
The most recent was the John Stewart show and the Colbert report. Also a PDF form filler
quits among others.does anyone else have this problem? I have reset it a number of times as suggested.

    Hello and welcome.
Try restarting your iPad when this happens, not the same as resetting. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
If apps continue to quit unexpectedtly, connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Make sure iTunes recognizes the iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Then click: *Check for Update.*
quit in the middle of a variety of apps making the unusable.
If the iPad software is up to date, click Restore then click *Don't Back Up*. The reason being is there might be one or more apps causing the problems.
Once you have restored the iPad, sync several apps at a time from the Apps menu in iTunes then try those apps on the iPad. If it's ok, then try 3 more apps and so on.
And while you have the iPad connected to your computer, look at the bottom of the the iTunes window under any of the tabs and check to make sure there is enough free storage space.

Can't. This is done for the individual movie, not by iTunes.
    Some have it, most don't.

It is not possible to install the iTunes store on an iPhone, nor is it necessary.
The iTunes store app is already installed in iOS and cannot be removed.
What is the real problem that is occurring?
