How to STOP JAVA ENGINE ONLY

Hi,
I installed NW2004S with both JAVA+ABAP stack and both are up and running i have some memory issues here.So i want to run only ABAP Stack now and how can i start the ABAP stack only.
Can any one suggest me how to do this..and explain the procedure.
And also can any one suggest me hwo to change the memory parameters for increasing the performance.I have 2 GB ram in my system.Can u tell whcih papameter files i have to edit..

Hi surya,
the parameter makes your java system not to start automatically when ever you start the abap engine so you are having the following message in MMC
<b>message server connected status ok,J2EE status info unavailable</b>
java takes much of your CPU resources so if you stop JAVA engine your system sure to behave good rest keep the default as itis dont try to change those parameters unless some critical issue comes

Check SAP Note 382318 - RFC_READ_TABLE
The scope of function module RFC_READ_TABLE is very restricted. E.g., due to the fixed maximum row size only smaller tables can be accessed. There are several data types that cannot be handled, and also there are doubts regarding the Unicode compatibility of the function module.
However, all this is quite immaterial, because the function is not meant to be publicly used anyway. It was only created to be used as a sample in various training courses, and is clearly flagged as "not released for customer".
Function module RFC_READ_TABLE should not be used as such.

I hope to stop and start Application Express on demand but is this feature enabled?

Oracle Apex is an API, if that helps you understand / visualize. You do not start Apex process nor stop it.
When an Apex session starts it starts calling the API.
You can however start / stop the listener. It may be OHS, ApexListener and the J2EE container running it, OC4J or any other "server" that you are using.
The built-in EPG is something like an API again, you cannot start / stop it but you can disable/enable it with DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT API.

Hello Sony, Yesterday i purchased HDR-CX405. My question is, how to stop dual recording? Only mp4 file needed. Both file created on memory card while shooing video scene - AVCHD and mp4. I don't want AVCHD (too big file), just want mp4 file only.

I would just like to confirm the answer VideoGeek posted. The camera can only record in Mp4 when it's set to Dual Rec. Both an AVCHD and Mp4 file will be created and written on your card. We would also suggest recording in AVCHD and later converting the file to Mp4 using the PlayMemories Home software.

But theoritically they are 2 indpeendent installations like
AS ABAP
AS JAVA
..Do you aggree ?? really am not good on basics!!
During the installation also - if select AS ABAP & AS JAVA - it will become dual installation
and it does not show

Is it because if AS ABAP is down - AS JAVA UME is 001 client - and Java authentication fails ?
Can we de attatch from ABAP UME for my requirement like - running JAVA WAS alone w/o ABAP.

How to stop BPEL engine from performing recovery of messages

Hi all,
I have a strange,interesting and complex problem in my BPEL 10.1.3.3 instance.
For some reasons my dehydration store became out of sync. That means my cube_instance and cube_scope tables have no data but other tables have data.
This was happend when I click purge instanes button on BPEL control UI and this had never returned control to me,
so I restarted server, then I see strange problem of Instances not getting dehydrated.
What I understood based on logs is, BPEL is performing recovery of few messages for which there is no corresponding instances found either in cube_instance or cube_scope and these messages are again getting scheduled for next miuite or so and this repeates for ever.
These messages are for wait expiration.
So decided to stop this some how

How set deployment sequence automatically in Java Engine

Hi Everybody,
i have create three diffrent Portal applications which depends on each other. They will only work if i deploy them in a special order. What i mean is that Application A must be deployed before the others and application B before C. If i deploy them manually i can decide it by my own but if i restart the Java Engine the system will not deploy them in the described way.
How can i set the proper sequence automatically?

unfortunately it does not work. I add the standard property startup=true to my applications A, B and C. As regards the references i do the following:
- Application A: SharedReferences= B, C
- Application B: SharedReferences=C
- Application C: Hier i have no references.
After i restart the java engine, only Application C is running and when i try to start it manually i get the message:
PortalApplicationName: A
Depends on:n.a.
Dependents: n.a.
Access: n.a.
State: stoppen
It seems as the applications A and B could not started because of the references.

I tried writing a program for a scheduler using java , compiled and ran in java 1.6 .The code is given below

The output of this program starts after 5 milliseconds delay and keeps running infinitely becoz the program is written only in such a way .
but my actual requirement is the timer should start 5 milliseconds after i run the program and stop after 20 milliseconds .
Here I need to know how to stop it at a required time interval
I dont find any api regarding this in 1.6 spec .
please clarify how to do that .

How to enable ping service on java-stack only system

I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java Trial on local host.
How can you activate the ping service there?
It should work under "http://localhost:50000/sap/bc/ping"
(I know how to activate it with transaction SICF in an abap system, but I have java-stack only here, so I can't call transactions. I can only use the Visual Admin, right?, but there I could not detect a ping service so far)
More detailed:
I created system "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS". (this is necessary for connecting to ECC abap backend for ESS Packages) and set following parameter:

But when I test the "SAP Web AS Connection" for this system, I got following error:
7. The Web AS ping service http://chrisSAP:50000/sap/bc/ping was not pinged successfully. If the ping service is not activated on the Web AS, you can try to call the ping service manually.
8. An HTTP/S connection to http://chrisSAP:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/ was not
obtained successfully; this might be due to a closed port on the Firewall.
I guess step 8 did not pass because step 7 failed, and not because of a closed port or firewall (I made sure everything is open.)
The strange thing is that the connection test fails, but the connection seems to work fine!
I mean I can see the front ESS page in the portal when logging in with an ESS-user, and there are no errors in the log. If I change the SAP_WebDynpro_XSS parameters to some other made-up values, then the front ESS page does not come up and some errors appear with "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" inside.
That proofs that the connection is working despite the failed connection test, right?. But what can I do that the connection test passes? It seems that somehow SAP has hardcoded the path "/sap/bc/ping" which usually exists on an abap system. But I have java-stack only, so how can I tell that the function that runs the test?
A system connection test fails, but the connection is working fine!
If someone could explain that to me...

I have Version 7.0 SP14. I read the OSS note, but there are around 100 changes listed. I read them all, but couldn't figure out one that has to do with ping and system test. So which sentence inside the note are you referring to?

I am basis team. I configured the JCo properly as described in manual and tested them afterwards. They run successful. Also all the links that you gave refer to JCO connections about how to set them up and test them. But what have JCO connections to do with System-connection tests? As far as I know JCO-connections are not used for system connectivity tests. You can set them up independent. I understand that JCO-connections are used for getting data from backend servers. But the system "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" is defined for determing the webdynpros on localhost (frontend, not backend).
So please can you explain me what JCO-connections which refer to remote hosts have to do with a ping service on local host that cannot be reached? And which part would be not configured "properly"? Timeouts? user?
To define my question more properly:
Is it possible to make the connection test work on a java-stack only host for a system that refers to itself (localhost)? Or is it a known bug?
Some sub-questions
Am I using the right system template (I am using "SAP system using dedicated application server")
I have no abap on local host (chrisSAP). Only java stack. Usually path ..sap/bc/ping refers to an abap system, right? So in my opinion I have 3 possibilities:
- install abap-stack on local host (portal) and activate ping service.
- somehow install a ping service that runs under the given URL in Visual Admin (how?)
- somehow tell the connection test to skip pinging and continue test. (How?)
Any additional advice would be highly appreciated.
