How to stop my iPhone from opening iPhoto every time I connect it to a computer?

I want to stop my iPhone from opening iPhoto whenever I connect it to a computer. I DON'T want to disable iPhoto on the computers because I use different ones. I want to disable the iPhone from being recognised as a camera in any computer.
TAHNK YOU.

That's a privacy concern. So, if someone steals your iPhone, even though that person doesn't have the password, he/she can still have access to your personal files just by connecting your iPhone to any computer. That doesn't really make sense.

  • Can't figure out how to stop my MBP from opening programs at startup, namely word and messages

Recenty my MBPro has started opening MS Word and Messages at startup and I can't figure out how to stop it?  I've tried selecting and de-selcting the startup option from the dock but this doesn't help.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

System Preferences has a setting for this.
In the Users & Groups section you will fine a "Login Items" header.  This is a list of all the programs that will open automatically when you log in.  You can select any program and click the [--] button below that window to stop the program from opening automatically.

  • How do I stop my iPod touch from backing up every time I connect

    Hello all,
Every time I connect my ipod to my mac book it does a back up, which can take quite some time if I haven't connected it for a while. It has only been doing this since I upgraded to 2.0. Is it necessary? can I back it up manually? How do I stop it?
    Thanx,
    JBN

During the backup process, you should be able to click on the little X at the top of iTunes, where it shows the backup process progression. This will stop the backup. From there, your sync will continue.
However, without a good/recent backup, if you had to restore your iPod, you would lose all of the settings/notes/etc that had been changed or created since your last full backup. You will want to let the backup complete every so often to make sure that you have a good one on hand that you can use if you need it.

  • How to disable the message that pops up every time i connect my iphone "photos in the camera roll of iphone cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode"?

Wrongly posted in iPhoto forum, should probably be posted here instead.
I want to remove the message that pops up every time i connect my IPhone that says: "Photos in the Camera Roll of "Name" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.".
This computer is not one that I want to import photos to (or sync with the iPhone), so this message is just very annoying, and it pops up all the time. I cannot find a way to disable this message. It is constantly appearing. No application is launching, I have turned off the iPhoto launch in the Image Capture app as well as in iPhoto. Thanks in advance if anyone has any information about this.

Because your computer sees your phone, as it would see any digital camera, as long as you have photos in your camera role. Since you state you don't sync with this computer & have a passcode on your phone, that's why you get that message. The only way to prevent that message is either start syncing with this computer; remove the photos from your camera roll prior to connecting; or first turn off your passcode before you connect. Either that, or you live with it.
You shouldn't be storing photos in your camera roll anyway. iPhone camera roll is not designed for photo storage. You should be regularly importing them.

  • I have to delete all Apple drivers from Windows 7 every time I connect via USB

    Hi,
Every time I connect to itunes via USB cable on my Windows & Laptop, the iphone DOE'S NOT SHOW UP IN MY COMPUTER. It shows up in iTunes and syncs ok, but I cannot access my photos from the phone in 'My Computer' !
As a consequence, I have to uninstal both the MTU driver (or Apple iPhone driver) from "Portable Devices" and the "Apple MObile Device USB Driver" from the USB Contollers tan from within "Device Manager". I then immediately scan the comuter for changes and everything works again and my iphone is listed in "my Computer" again. Eveything is fully functional at this stage.
HOWEVER, as soon as take the phone off the |USB cable and try to reconnect the iphone again to the PC, the very same thing happens again and I have to go through ther same procedure all over again!
I have never had these problems before updating my iphone and itunes the last few times, not sure exctly when the problem started, but it was at least a couple of updates ago!
Another thing I noticed since the one from last ios update for the iphone 4, is that my phone mutes itself at random times and I have to restart or respring the device to get sound back!
Not related to the previous problem, but I thought i'd mention it
Since the last ios update a few days ago, it hasn't muted itselld yet but as I have not read anywhere anout anyone experiencing the same problem, I am not too hopeful that it has been fixed!
If anyone can help with a more permanent solution to the USB problem, I would be very grateful.
By the way, I have changed USB cables, restarted iphone and laptop several times, completely removed iteuns and reinstalled it as per the instructions on the itunes site, made ure everything is updated to the very latetest firmware and software, in short, I have tried EVERYTHING, so please don't state the obvious in your replies, I have pretty much tried everything before coming onto this forum.
    Many thanks in advance,

Sorry, just to confirm, I DID NOT ACTUALLY ANSWER MY OWN QUESTION!
I replied to the previous message from my iphone and I managed to hit the link to "This has answered my question" by accident!
I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A RESOLUTION TO MY ORIGINAL PROBLEM. CAN SOMEONE ALSO NIW TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF THE GREEN TEXT TGAT SAYS TGAT MY QUESTION IS ANSWERED? That is a pain! It should at least ask you to confirm that your question is actually answered and you didn't hit it by mistake, like I did!

  • How can stop random tabs from opening in safari!

I have a MacBook Pro 15" retina display2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor and 8GB of space. I've been using safari 7.0.5. Almost every time I click on something in safari, a new tab opens. It's usually an advertisement or sign up page for a dating website. It's getting extremely annoying and I want to know how I can stop them from opening. I've already tried blocking pop up windows in preferences and it hasn't done anything. Please help!

You may have installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How do I stop Address Book from opening with the same searched name?, How I stop Address Book from opening with the same searched name?

Every time I open Address Book (Lion) it opens to the same vcard with the same name in the search field. How do I keep this from happening? I have tried deleting the vcard, deleting the plist, and importing/exporting my contact. However, the search field contents are alwyas the same - even if I delete the field, close, and re-open. Thanks.

    Hi Romulus949,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. Then you can set your homepage to anything you like.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How do I stop apps from automatically downloading every time I connect to the internet?

When my iPhone connects to the internet, an average of four apps automatically download on my device. What is causing this issue and how can I stop it?

I've just got a new iPad, got 8 updates available on app store, after like 5 min there were 4 updates. It was when I realised that it was automatically downloading stuff, so i disabled it from iTunes and App Stores settings as you wrote. The problem is that even though I disabled everything, every time I reconnect this iPad to wi-fi it continues to download because from 4 available updates it went down to 2. And somehow it managed to download GarageBand update, that's 600mb off of my monthly 8gb!! Why does it keep downloading from app store?

  • How to stop Preview program to open automatically every picture on hard drive? (When opening Preview)

So this Preview opens automatically every picture on hard drive when I open the program. I haven't found any way to stop it.

    Great news, thanks!
On of the silly features of Lion is that it restores everything/every App to the last state, just one of over 500+ improvements for iPhone users that would have difficulty loading all those things again.

  • How can I stop Acrobat Reader from popping up every time I close Firefox?

Every time I close Firefox, after my browser window closes, Acrobat Reader pops up. Is there a way to stop this from happening. I already went into the "Add-Ons" and disabled it, but it continues to occur.

It doesn't :-) I was desperate, there is nowhere on the Internet giving the information on how to block pop-ups on just IE (not all of Microsoft) But thank you anyway. :-) FYI I installed IE 9 then deleted IE all together.

  • How to stop Mozilla to clean LBKTemp_Firefox folder every time when the Firefox is closed?

I have used an old version of Firefox and XP and everyday I open one file and the firefox add to the file name "-1", "-2", "-3".... but now I am using Windows 7 and Firefox 5.0 and the problem is that this folder LBKTemp_Firefox was cleaned every time when I close Firefox. How can I stop this?

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore#Restoring_a_session_after_a_crash
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

When ever there is an update available a pop up comes on when I click on my firefox browser. If I dont install the update then that pop up shows up every time I click on my browser. I would like to say no thank you to the updates all the time and stick with what I have. But if I dont do it then I am slowed down by this pop up. Can I just make the updates stop?

  • How to stop an iPhone from being hacked

Can an iPhone be hacked through your iCloud account or email account (meaning your Apple ID). I have found disturbing things on the internet to monitor phones such as auto-forward.com. For about $70 you can monitor everything on a smart phone. Of course they're disclaimer is that being a parent, you want to make sure what your kids are up to and it says "not to be used for illegal purposes". But I am an adult and someone is monitoring me. My Apple ID password only works when this person wants it to work. My email and texts disappear.
HOW DO I STOP THIS??  I have already traded my phone in changed apple IDs, the techs at the apple store found strange software diagnostics.
Law enforcement is not very tech savvy. Can data forensics trace the person doing this? About $2000, but worth it to catch the stalker.

Your Apple ID can be compromised. That would allow a miscreant to buy things using your account, access your iCloud information and potentially wipe the phone remotely. If your concerned about that, make sure that you use a complex password and 2 step verification. Make sure your recovery email account is also secure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570
You should also put a password on your phone to prevent people from gaining physical access to it.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet. In order to use such software on an iPhone, someone would need to have access to your phone in order to jailbreak it. If you restore the phone as new and follow the advice above, no one will be monitoring your phone (except possibly the government and they are not going to be deleting your texts and emails).
    Best of luck.

  • How do I sync iPhone without opening iPhoto?

Is there a preference I can turn off? I hate it that whenever I sync my iPhone, iPhoto automatically opens. It takes forever.

iPhoto opens because you have photos in your phone's Camera Roll.  You should really import them into iPhoto and delete them from your Camera Roll.  That way you'll have them if you misplace or damage your phone.  You'll also improve backup and restore times by reducing Camera Roll or Saved Photos, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3603
If you have photos you really want on your phone, sync them to albums in the Photo app.
iPhone, iPad and iPod touch: Syncing photos via iTunes, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
However, if you want to ignore my nanny lecture and just turn off the automatic iPhoto opening, go to iPhoto > Preferences > General and select "Connecting camera opens > no application".  You can still use iPhoto with your phone, you just have to launch it manually.

  • How to stop new tabs from opening while using safari?

When I am using safari random pages will open in new tabs and i am constantly having to close the tabs. How can I stop this?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.

Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have.
